Tanking keep construct

Depends on the group. Most prefer him be immediately moved to whichever side the next statue is spawning to immediately burn him down.

I don’t think I’m ever going to kill this kitten boss.

5% twice and haven’t been able to get that close since.

Another annoying issue with keep construct is his random leap and disappear for a few seconds. I’ve had several attempts in which we either cc’d him and he jumped up with no circle indication causing us to think that we broke his bar but we didn’t, or we’ve had several times when we were breaking a spirit on top of him but he jumped up for some reason and it did not remove a stack of his buff.

And yes the clones and minions attacking the core also caused a lot of problems.

Got him to 5% last night but there are still a lot of wonky issues that cause this fight to be kind of an rng/luck based clear.

I don’t have the statistics, but I’m willing to bet PVE players are far more than PVP players. If you were a dev, would you not want to focus on your core playerbase?

I think the focus on pvp and leagues winds up leading to too much pressure attempting to “balance” things, which winds up being a never-ending cycle of reworks that winds up hindering development.

I think the constant reworks and balancing issues are also hurting Esports more than their time spent on PVP, which is a separate dev group anyway.

Personally, I think they need a new style of match that doesn’t rely on bunkering caps and cc-chaining.

I’ve never been a huge fan of the cap system anyway. It feels like it makes it less about combat to me and more about rotation strategy.

In some matches, if you’re responsible for back-capping, you may not even engage in that much combat, which doesn’t feel like pvp so much as wvw to me.

But anyway, this is going off on a tangent now.

Well it mostly has run dry. I finally got it with half a second left on the timer after I don’t even know how many attempts. It still seemed to boil down to luck. The biggest issue is that even if you barely tap 2 you could wind up going in an opposite direction and missing losing seconds off the clock. One issue I found with it is that it doesn’t go well with action cam. It seems to be inconsistent in direction and you wind up missing huge groups of Chak, and having to right mouse click to attempt to cancel the ability so you don’t lose extra time.

I attempted Scrap Rifle because I still need 3 points to finish out the collection, but I think I might just grind out some story points, finish ground pounder, and try to find something else. The adventures just don’t seem to be worth the effort.

I may or may not attempt the beetle feast at some point as I came relatively close to getting old in it awhile back. But I’m sure it will wind up in me wanting to punch the computer after many failed attempts or close attempts in which some ability bugged out and I wound up barely missing the timer.

I am glad however that Sanctum Scramble only requires bronze. After watching a video and seemingly cheesing this adventure by teleporting to an area high above you and using your glide I was able to get silver. But why is this even necessary? If I hadn’t done research and seen that method of teleporting above you, which seems unintended anyway (Instead of just making the jump much higher).. I would still be stuck probably not even getting bronze.

There are still many issues with these adventures, IMO.

Well I imagine at the very least the summer quarterly update will begin July 12th or so after this pvp season. So perhaps that update is meant to tide us over until they release the first LS episode somewhere around the end of August? It’s seeming more and more likely that they’re taking the Blizzard route and timing LS to begin close to the time Legion is released for WoW. I wouldn’t have expected them to do that, but it’s seeming that way.

Hoping I’m wrong and they will both come out first couple weeks of July, the update and the episode.

I think when you have information like this, (has it been proven fact yet?), it’s probably good to have somekind of teaser or something showing what to expect in that episode. The fact that it’s worded as “possibly density” makes me think that quantity of content isn’t really a priority to them. Which is also discouraging.

I really wish ESports would take a hike. They seem to be putting way too much focus on pvp and raids, that’s for sure. Everything else has been quality of life improvements for systems, that half the time but or get changed anyway!

I’m leaning towards deep sea dragon as well.

For similar reasons. The “unidentified lodestone” and the fact that all other dragon minions are represented during these ley line events. Everyone is expecting Kralk, so it would be fitting that this dragon would be unexpected. I think they may be setting up Kralk as a potential endgame, with Glint’s offspring as a potential magic sponge now we can freely defeat elder dragons while gaining more strength on our side. Why have the new hatchling immediately go and fight the dragon that had so much control over its mother?

Everyone seems sure that the deep sea dragon involves underwater combat, but I’m thinking if they do the deep sea dragon they will do it as a Cantha/island expansion.

If they did, I hope we get some elephant/humanoid race! I love Tengu and Largos too though. And Skritt. Honestly Margonites too. lol

Anyway, I support the idea that the deep sea dragon is just unexpected and vague enough to be able to do the next expansion on with Kralk and Primordus being saved for later.

There needs to be a different incentive to do adventures besides Mastery Points.

How many people actually do them once they get their collections or mastery points?

How many people just skip them all together?

It’s honestly ridiculous.

You intend for them to be fun? Yet you put mastery points and collections behind them making people absolutely despise them due to how perfectly you have to perform during some of them.

I’m on about my 60th attempt on Haywire with the furthest being 198. Half the time my bombs don’t actually damage the chak, or my punches wind up punching through the chak doing no damage and wasting 2 of the very few seconds I have to complete this.

Please avoid whatever thinking led to the implementation of this for future expansions.

Sad thing is, I would probably enjoy them if they didn’t require perfection/luck and keep me from finishing out my raid masteries.

The first is of the painting that was teased, with a following screenshot of something I noticed in the far shiverpeaks map that may or may not have been there beforehand. A compass? A structure of somekind? Maybe it was there before.

Then another of a corpse at the bottom of the lake with the name “J” which I assume is “Jayce” as alluded to in the journals about having second thoughts about the White Mantle and then being killed by the person who had the journal.

Then just a few of to appreciate the landscape.

Hey, I don’t mean to come across as rude but as a fellow scribe/architect? I just wanted to say it would save you a lot of ramps if you went up the tree and around to where the golden circle updraft is instead of placing ramps going around it. I know it’s easier making ramps straight there because it seems like the only way the guild members will actually take the hike up there, but I figured you might be able to find other uses for the ramps. I wish I had accumulated that many clouds.

Also, you know right under where your forest is? That little vine root area with the broken gold squares and the circle above where the updraft is can be treated as a mini jumping puzzle with no decorations needed. Just as long as you get to the base of the golden arch under the roots.

That it won’t be for another 5 years.

But seriously?

Not enough maps.
That enjoyable pve content will yet again seemingly take the backburner to PVP seasons.

Other than that? Anything new sounds good for the most part. Would love some more elite specs, like a caster Rev for example. Would love for Mesmers to finally get dual pistols.

Also not big on the Jormag plot. The snow zones are pretty, but not pretty enough to be trapped in for an entire expansion. The zones should be reasonably contrasting in order to hold people’s attention.

And then we find out that the human gods have actually been corrupted into becoming the elder dragons!

July 12th. It’s right after this season of pvp ends, on a Tuesday. A couple weeks after the 3rd raid wing. It makes the most sense. And it’s exactly 3 months from the last update isn’kitten

My biggest concern is about Living Story. I mean, what will this patch contain if not the living story?

Hopefully some exciting changes for Guild Halls and scribing again, along with something to do that doesn’t leave me bored and filling up our Guild Hall with basic shrubs!

Would be nice to get a teaser or something, a blog post of some things to expect. But I’m assuming their last update went well with no communication so they likely won’t do anything this time around either.

Seems we’re close enough that some of it would be finished enough to mention.

I don’t know what Arenanet’s strategy is against other mmo’s, but I’m wondering if they aren’t going to try to push somekind of major content off until Legion releases to compete. I know Blizzard did that frequently back when they actually cared about their game. Haven’t played Guild Wars long enough to know their trends yet.

Why are charged quartz time-gated?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Just curious as to what the purpose of this is. It seems a little archaic to me. I assume it was originally to keep people from having full sets of celestial gear at ease, but with them being in the game for so long and so many guild upgrades large quantities of items like celestial inscriptions and ley-line infused tools, the daily cooldown seems to only further time gate a system that is already reliant on so many other things that also take time, such as large amounts of pvp potions etc.

Is this not a system we can put to rest at this point? Or at least be more lenient with? Such as a higher max number of charges a day?

Even if it’s timegated, there’s very few things that require them in a large quantity that a SINGLE player is meant to accrue. Guild hall upgrades need a large number in total, but with the number of players in guilds, it’s a small amount for each player.

Maybe, but how many people are typically active in a large guild? And why should a small guild be penalized by this logic? I mean, my active guilds have about 30 or 40 on at primetime, but that isn’t taking into account who all has crafting high enough to make celestial inscriptions or ley-line infused tools. Add that to the fact that the celestial inscriptions take 5 days for 1 person to complete due to daily cooldowns, and with upgrades requiring 200 or more ley-line infused tools, even with 30 people all depositing their 1 a day, that’s still going to be almost 8 days for the full supply. But that’s including everyone, not just the weaponsmiths that can actually craft the tools, so then if you’re lucky you might have 10 dedicated people making the tools and depositing. At which case it would take 20 days, which is longer than it takes to accumulate the aetherium needed to finish the upgrade.

It just seems like an outdated system. Would be a huge help if we could even charge 5 crystals a day as the cooldown. At least then it makes it more manageable for smaller guilds while not inflating the supply.

Please no more zones like Tangled Depths

I don’t think people really have an issue with the map itself, even though they think they do. I think the real issue is the mob abundancy and the fact that you’re dealing with either Chak, which do a lot of damage, or mushrooms, which are insanely annoying with crowd control AND do a ton of damage.

It’s not just a matter of figuring out your way around, which is actually really fun, it’s managing to figure out how to either avoid a group of mobs so you don’t have to die and find your way back again, or killing everything else first.

I personally love the zone though and think it’s genius. It took me awhile to figure out how and I had a few tour guides here and there but the zone itself is quite amazing. Auric Basin is nice as well but not as intricate as TD. I also enjoy Dragon Stand though but I think that’s because I like the meta most of all, and because I know how to break out of the map and see some of the really cool behind the scenes areas that make me appreciate it more. Coincidentally, Tangled Depths is pretty sweet from out of the map as well. So much detail that the players don’t even see!

Try solo queueing as an ele and tell me how much of an impact you have on winning games.

Try to solo as thief and tell me how much an impact you are having :P

See, we all can do it xD

A lot, actually. Much more than a support that can’t do ANYTHING by itself besides stay alive. Zero offensive pressure.

I swap to my thief when I’m solo queueing because it helps win games, I think thief is the best solo queue class for “carrying”.

In reality though nothing you pick is going to matter because it’s 5v5 and all that matters is your teammates. Ele is still by far the worst possible pick for trying to “carry” games with bad teammates, though. It’s very frustrating and not fun.

Best for carrying? Well hats off to you because you must be one hell of a thief.

At best we can attempt to out-rotate the other team, but even then there isn’t much carrying you can do if the rest of your team is accumulating more points in deaths for the other team than you can manage to make up for by capping/decapping.

I’d still say Mesmer is the best for carrying. That and necro. Dragonhunters can be good for cheesing the other team with trap spam but once they’re focused they’re kind of done for.

If you have a good team however then ele can certainly be a great carry, but that takes people doing enough damage and focusing while you keep them up and hopefully get them to protect you while you do it.

Well if you have a bunker ele or healer druid it helps to have a corruption-spec necromancer to corrupt all of their boons. Between that and focusing/cc’ing it shouldn’t be too bad.

The biggest annoyance for me this season has been warriors and scrappers. Scrappers with constant stuns and moas and condi cleanse, and warriors with their ability to stunlock you and pile on 50 conditions in 3 seconds while hardly taking any damage.

All in all I think this season started off a bit better than last. Necromancers are still really strong so I recommend anyone struggling with ranked go for the meta corrupt build. It’s really nice being able to negate some of those auras and extra healing/protection.

I bought it to go with my glider and it fits the theme of multiple of my characters.

Though I wish that when your character was floating it was more upright. It looks kind okittenward as is. I’d rather them be levitating standing up.

I rarely use it though. It’s kind of buggy in some situations if you have the buff on you and you go to cancel it. I guess you can permanently cancel it but it doesn’t seem like the greatest system. It’s also kind of annoying if you’re stuck on it and can’t use some of your abilities that you need to prep with like an aoe or something on a mob and you have to cancel it quickly before you agro.

Some other suggestions:

Floors and ceilings for things such as the gold walls to make complete structures.

Asura architecture and buildings, including the glowing platforms and platforms similar to the ones in uncategorized.

Misc staircases.

Ascalonian structures.

Interact able pact turrets that could perhaps even have arena functionality.

More trees similar to ascalonian but from other areas of the game, such as a maguma jungle style tree or other misc plant.

Place able waypoint and possibly updraft.

Chest that can be filled for jumping puzzle creation enthusiasts.

Charr car!

Misc buildings and huts.

Beds

I’m sure there are a ton of other things.

The problem though doesn’t seem to be lack of creativity on their end so much as apathy. Kind of seems as though they are simply done implementing new content short of festival decorations for guild halls. I doubt they will even go back and reiterate on things such as the mysterious disappearing updraft in gilded hollows or the treasure room door that leads to the random room with a crystal. They simply seem like they have no intention of spending the development time on this kind of content., which is a shame considering how many players enjoy creating or even admiring the work of others.

I could be wrong with that assumption buy with their new communication policy we will never know unless it comes to fruition.

Usage: Salvage all junk, basic, fine and masterwork items in your bags with just a single click.

The permanent teleport to friend stone is a great idea. Especially when you want to get on an alt and able to teleport to a guild mission that you don’t have a waypoint for and cannot create a portal to in the guild hall.

I already posted a few suggestions in another post but what I would personally love to see are the following;

Portals/Asura Gates

A portal or Asura Gate of which you have an “entry point” and an “exit point”. I simply think that this would make traversing the Guild Hall faster and much more fun. When I explored both of the Guild Halls I found a lot of nice, hidden places but they aren’t easy to get to unfortunately.

Now, it being hidden does add “value” to the places in a sense but if you decide to decorate that spot and have to travel more than 10 minutes to get there every time you enter the Guild Hall, the fun rapidly dies :/

Books/Library

Another think I always thought was quite interesting is having bookshelves similar to the ones we already have but with … actual books! You know, ones you can read! If you enter the Durman Priory you will find several books with interesting tid-bits of lore to read, wouldn’t it be simply amazing being able to build your own library with a few books telling the past living story events? This could also be an interesting way to give us shortstories (like they used to before) but ingame, instead of on the website (though it would limit the accessibility for players :/ )

Link to the other post, having quite a few suggestions there already;
Link

I love the idea of the portals. It might be a bit hard to implement but sounds like a great idea that could work just as well as the waypoints people were requesting.

And to the other post, yes to floor panels and ceiling panels. I tried to make a home out of gold wall panels above the gilded hollow but without having a roof or floor it kind of limits things!

I also saw another post about using bloodstone dust. It would be great if some of the surplus mats that have no value like mordrem slivers and lodestones could be used for more craftable non-potted trees, or leaf fossils that I seem to get so much of and can hardly even bother to vendor anymore. There are a lot of surplus materials that would be great added in to scribe decoration recipes for affordable decorations.

Well you do get a zeppelin in Lost Precipice. lol But I’m sure I could park one above the hollows too if I could make one!

Scribe decoration request,

Hello, as a decoration fanatic I just wanted to put in a request for a few things to be added into the decorations list.

First off, and probably the simplest to implement would be a larger variety of Tyrian non-potted trees similar to the Ascalonian tree. Would be great to have some Maguma Jungle style trees as well.

Same for smaller foliage to help decorate some of the more barren parts of Lost Precipice for example.

Lastly, the Super Adventure Box decorations were a big hit because of how large and affordable they were, as well as what you can construct with them.

It would be great to see more decorations similar to those items but perhaps with some of the varieties of Tyrian architecture such as old Ascalonian buildings or huts, floors, and perhaps even the Verdant Brink style stone stairwells. Bandit structures would be a great addition for some of the more secluded areas of Gilded Hollows.

Just a few requests that could maybe reuse pre-existing assets, (at a hopefully affordable material cost.)

Really hoping the next patch shows Guild Halls some more love and adds quite a few more decorations.

Winning streak impossible with solo queue?

So can you tank your mmr until you the enemy team is full of amber-playstyle players? So when you actually try you can win?

Or are you just going to be repeatedly placed against the same mmr level teams regardless of how low your mmr is?

I don’t know. I think it’s pretty kittenty that the system punishes people with lower mmr. Why not just match up similar mmr and see who wins? Isn’t that more skill related than forcing people to go against a team that’s theoretically better?

Winning streak impossible with solo queue?

I don’t know the situation of others, but in solo queue I have two really good even matches, win, and then right before I hit a winning streak seemingly every time I get put up against another team in which the match ends up being a complete blowout.

The other team’s comp is better, the players are miles above anyone on our team. (More like their builds are better and they are far more coordinated with chain cc’ing and focusing targets.)

Is there something in the matchmaking algorithm that seems to want to screw over solo queue players from getting a winning streak despite regularly winning 1 or 2 matches?

The times I lose I can immediately understand why, but in the games where I lose my chance at a winning streak the score ends up being something ridiculous like 500 to 100.

Please no more zones like Tangled Depths

The zone itself is a masterpiece. The mobs however are ridiculous. Those mushrooms hit way too hard and have way too much cc. If the mob difficult was reduced considering the sheer amount of mobs and respawn timers it wouldn’t be nearly that bad. Love all the hidden shortcuts everywhere.
