Each has it’s uses. There is no “my build only runs hammer”. Learn to use both when needed.

That said, hammer is good for the ring to LoS mobs and CC them with immob, and ofc for the protection it gives on the auto not too say you have a blast finisher every 5s. I see it’s use on the Ascalon fractal for the hard hitting trash mobs, or in Uncategorized with the 4 champions when you need to hold agro on the ettin, it works good with scepter.

GS is pretty much staple. It has a good rotation with Sword, you have a blind, good burst and the pull from #5 which is very important in pretty much every encounter.

4.5.0.0.5 or 4.5.0.1.4 - when I need max utility and some condie removal for the group or extra stability (Solid, Aether Fractal, Cliffside)

4.6.0.2.2 (scepter/gs) or 5.5.0.2.2 (Mace/gs) – Mossman and Snowblind (depending on the group)

6.6.0.0.2 - for some bosses where I go full scepter/torch (Bloom, Thaumanova Anomaly, Legendary Power Suit or Ele)

2.5.0.2.5 - when I need the CD reduction from SotA, Condie Removal and Shout CD

5.0.0.4.5 - Imbued Shaman

I left a few but those I see myself using. I change my build all the time in fractals there is no run with the same build.

It seems not. It only blocks for the next incoming attack once for anyone inside your PS radius. So let’s say if an AoE is targeted to an ally inside your PS it will block for him and you will get the full dmg.

Call me a noob whatever, but Renewed Focus will still remain the most used elite overall even after the traits/elites changes.

The difference between our tomes and the other elites like tornado, lich and rampager is that those classes are not depended on an invuln elite that alter they’re profession mechanic as RF is to the Guardian, so ofc they’re “niche” elite is not so niche after all but instead, a powerful addition in they’re skill kitten nal where which, RF is a must for a guardian to be able to remain competent.

Guardian’s survivability and skills are balanced with the idea of renewed focus which from the start makes any other elite not viable. I love the idea of guardian having more access to quickness and I’ve been advocating it from a long time now, to balance out the slow hitting weapons like hammer and mace, or to balance out the lack of CC but tbh I don’t like how the devs want to implement them and I will vote for the Tomes to remain unchanged until the new specialization is rolled out and people create an impression first with the new specs/builds.

And please stop with the healing crap on guardian, it was never meant to be a healer. If you really want gruesome healing go specc a warrior in clerics with banner regen or shout heal and then delete your guardian. Or an ele for that matter…

0/3/6/1/4 is my go to nowadays. Absolute resolution is very hard to pass by and Renewed Justice is a must for clearing camps fast.

As far as weapons go I pretty much value sword way more over scepter because it saved me a lot of times against for ex ranger LB burst and as for second wep swap, if i’m with a buddy ill def take hammer, if i’m solo ill probably get GS or Scepter torch depends.

P.S. Loosing Fiery wrath is worth it imo, I just get good food/stones and the burst is still strong with UC and Glacial Heart/Fury

Hammer/JI combo let’s you intercept and lock down your target via the ring or the immobilize thuss letting your friend catch up and help beat on your target lol. Make sure before you port in that your opponent is not aware of what you are trying to do, because wasting a ring and a port pretty much sucks.

Also as for secondary weapon set I choose sword/focus. You have your 3 blocks and blind on focus, and projectile destroy and port on your sword. Very versatile weapon combo that works wonders with hammer, especially if you trap them in the ring and land a few auto chains with sword then it’s GG.

The problem with sword was that although it has very strong auto attack you couldn’t keep your target locked enough to land your hits. Now this pretty much solved it for me, inb4 MB.

25% Movement Speed should be an option for all classes the same as reduced dmg. on falling traits are. It should be an option if you choose to move faster around the map you can give up X ability or X utility for it. Guardian should not be an exception to this kind of buff!

Regarding combat mobility i’m ok with not escaping or not having CC but then give me increased attack speed or Quickness. If I do strike I want at least my few hits to land.

Why is nobody advocating increased attacks speed on guardian?!? How can you be a Zealot without attack speed d_a_m_n it!

P.S. having 25% Movemnt Speed on UC could be nice, but I think it would also be frustrating when let’s say a map mob (either in Pve or WvW) could strip it away by mistake.

I think those anti-meta threads have made Special Snow Flakes more ambitious lately. I’m so so so SO sick of people that waste other peoples time with no shame getting carried by people that try to maximaze they’re builds to provide both DPS and team utility.

Why do people even care about meta that much. Almost every pug fractal50 run is 40-50 minutes regardless of class composition or if someone put some defense gear or traits.

How does asking for a guardian to use his virtues and bring projectile defense equates to “doing 20 min fractal50 pug run”?

And again, I didn’t even talked about berserker gear. My point was that PHIW people don’t even bring useful group utilities. Please try to do a lvl 50 Volcanic Fractal without projectile defense, or blinds for the adds at the imbued shaman, then come and tell me about your smooth 50 min pug run.

I guess some people will try to find the most ridiculous reasons only to make they’re selfish playstyle viable. I keep repeating that is not the gear i’m complaining about, yet I still get replies about Zerker this Zerker that WHEN I was actually talking about USEFULL group utilities.

I’m so sick of people complaining that their dungeon runs take 30 seconds longer. Also, if you put the correct terms in the LFG you should have a problem. May I suggest “ZERKER ONLY, I’m a really kitten about this” or “L33T RUN, MOAR DPS” which says the same thing.

I wasn’t talking about dungeons in the first place. And wearing “ZERKER” gear does not make people bring useful group utilities…

What class do you play? If you have trouble with guards, roll one yourself. Be self-sufficient. Stop asking for the other guards to carry you.

I main guard, and can also play ele and warrior in fractals. So if I play ele, and i’m the single ele in the group, by your suggestion I should drop the ele just so I can do the job that the guardian isn’t doing, so you say I should drop the only ele in the party to actually carry the bad guardian? Is that what you call self-sufficient? I don’t even..

How you a build / gear check help with guards camping their virtues? Also, if they are trying to troll you, they can just but the build you want them to run and then change it after the check.

Because I could gear/build check anytime in the instance. And if LFG req is not respected then here comes the kick. But I see that you are more interested in how to you could trick the gear check than supporting the idea of people you spend the time with in an instance (especially lvl 50 fractals) to actually bring usefull group utilities. It sickens me how Anet shields the scrubs, and don’t actually make things to improve skillful play.

Also you seem to think that I don’t make my own lfg’s. But how many times did I caught players linking a set of zerker armor then looking at them struggle to kill a single trash mob, it’s quite hilarious. Plus it’s easy to see for signs when Guardians VoJ don’t blind or don’t provide vuln, or ele’s fire fields don’t provide fury. Anyways you made my point. Thanks!

I had some really bad fractal runs lately. To give an example of this abomination of “Snow Flakes”, and I’m not even talking about the gear now, how can you come in a lvl 50 fractal as a guard without reflects, camping staff as well as your virtues and MEDITATIONS! Or scepter camping eles with no conjures, or D/D eles or Rangers that don’t have the decency to give a spotter for the PS warri and the party, when he doesn’t even need to do anything than just provide a passive bonus. I’m so disgusted about those players, and I’m talking about players with lots of AP’s and several legendaries so you can’t say they are new to the game.

Most of the time it’s really not about the gear. It’s the selfish nature of people that makes me start to think some of them do this on purpose just to grief other players and waste they’re time.

I sincerely would take a power necro any day (and i really don’t have problems against good necros in fractals) before any of these useless kittens.

I hope to never meet those people again and I REALLY HOPE ANET makes an INSPECT GEAR and BUILD option, a DPS meter and more DPS checks on bosses similar to Simin.

I really want a fast way of selecting my party without the need of arguing in party chat. People will still make LFG req and will kick people. Why NOT make the whole process cleaner and faster?

You keep saying support but everything from DPS, snares, CC and boons/healing is considered support. I think what you are asking for is more defensive support? But even you realize how ridiculous that sounds so you just say “support” instead.

Remember when you replied to me that the specialization is not suppose to be an upgrade to our current position and yet you ask for the same thing only on the defensive side which is already BUILT in in our core design. What do you want from guardian? Long Range healing?

Combine all skills from the ToW and ToC into 7 Auras. One Heal skill, 4 Utility Auras, and 2 Elite Auras (1 Offensive and 1 Supportive)

To make room for the new skill type I suggest removing Spirit Weapons from the game. Simply put, they are bad design. (Except from Shield of the Avenger – maybe make that as an active of the defensive elite aura)

The idea i’m trying to make is reduce the clutter of traits the guardian has and solidify it’s current good traits. Good traits being shouts, consecrations and meditations.

Signets still need rework, but spirit weapons need to go imo.

This is what I would do with the tomes, if not just leave them as they are now and tag them as “Tome” and add traits in virtues or Separate for each tome Zeal/Radiance – Valor/Honor/Virtues.

I always find it funny when guardians claim that Shout AH 0.1.6.6.1 it’s a good support build, when in fact you are just a punching bag that spams shouts to proc PoV. Basically a leech. So funny.

AH bunker is the best support build in PvP, period. It’s just that with all these self reliant cele specs you don’t need a dedicated support guy, instead teams are taking a shoutbow with a cele ele to fill the gap.

In WvW yes, even there the frontline guards spec 4 points in Virtues. Not to mention your sustain is even worse in pvp with AH because of the limited number of people that surround you at times.

You have inferior condi cleanse, no counter pressure, nothing. You sole purpose as an AH bunker is to leech while being a burden to your team. Again, talking about pvp. In WvW the situation is different.

The medi hammer build with 6 in virtues bring’s as much support as the Healway build minus the healing and the traited consecrations but it brings superior dmg instead which sometimes it’s more useful than the healing. I actually disagree, Defiance Stance is fine on warrior. True it could also work on Guard, but we already have shelter and it synergizes with valor.

The person who came up with Litany of Wrath it’s on the RIGHT track. It creates a concept where the guardian has to land hits and capitalize on Burst Dmg to heal.
This is 10 times a better concept (more skillful play also) than having to hit our medis for sustain. The same with Zealous Blade it goes hand in hand with Litany. But for this to happen you need combat mobility, attack speed (!!!) and some reliable snares.

The Dream.

Edit: A passive that gives % Life on Hit
Increased Attack Speed when using CC to capitalize on the passive
Litany + Fury for when you use a burst skill to maximize healing potential.

More like 99% Creep. I was telling my friends earlier who wanted to learn Guardian that even if they buffed Litany of Wrath to being instant AND return 100% of the dmg to healing, I still wouldn’t take it over Shelter.

I would love to use Litany, trust me, and i’m afraid that Litany will get scrapped like tomes because they have no idea how to balance it and make it a viable choice.

I bet you Arken that Litany will be scrapped and Shelter will become a meditation and it will be balanced to compensate for the extra heal from Meditation Mastery. That would be pretty sad.

The reason why Tomes weren’t so popular, besides they’re huge CD’s, is that somehow you guys designed the guardian to be too heavily depended of Renewed Focus in order to survive.

Virtues base CD of 30, 60 and 90s is just insanely stupid for a profession mechanic, more so for a Profession that has 11k base HP, no base movement speed and no escape mechanic, no healing skill that removes conditions and no other way of sustain besides AH/MM which are GM’s in Valor.

If this is not believable enough go and ask evey guardian what heal they use and you will see that 90% of the answers are going to be “I use Shelter”. Or why focus is so popular over off-hand shield.

Why? Because a Guardian cannot function properly in a competitive environment without Renewed Focus, Shelter or Absolute Resolution

I would suggest you guys check the cool downs of our base virtues before bothering with the tome changes. I know that reducing the cool downs to (F1)20s (F2)40s and (F3)60s base might be to strong coupled with Shelter, RF and Virtues, but in the same time, higher that that will be too much for other heals/elite skills to be used.

The numbers looked good for a demo against an ai. Remember it was 2 traps with Zeal, Radiance and DH, no condi clear or sustain. You will get decimated running that in pvp/wvw

The leaked skillset was garbage if you wana play support play Honor/Virtues/X and youll have more than almost any other profession(ele excluded) cause base guard has support coming out of its kitten .

The new longbow is garbage, if you wanna play DPS play a meditation guardian. See? I can do it too. The point of the leaked skillset was that it allowed every kind of guardian to do what they do at range. Now offensive guardians are just better than ever (because being meta wasn’t enough apparently).

1. Guardian =/= Healer
2. Guardian =/= Tank
3. Guardian already has built in group support by default in many of it’s traits AND the profession mechanic.
4. Support doesn’t stop at group healing only
5. Asking for a profession that has built in support to specialize in ranged healing is the dumbest thing I’ve heard.

There is a pretty huge difference between expanding a class thematically in a cool way and simply forcing the RP element too far for the sake of marketing purposes. I mean I know its a video game and we all play for entertainment but at the end of the day some people really spend a lot of time in the forums and in game trying to give feedback on improving the professions.

Also a big part of what might made things confusing for the players and the devs is the “complexity” or better yet the unhealthy mix of what the guardian tries to be.
Sure, there were complains about the lack of a real long range weapon, mobility, CC and more conditions but it also maters in which form you deliver those.

Simply put the way all our feedback was taken by the devs feelt like it was received in a totally diferent way that imo created a departure from the GW2 profession theme.

There is a huge difference in the way Mesmer has kept it’s flavor in the elite specialization compared to the first impression “Dragonhunter” delivered. Which in my case was a very weird read.

Of course I will watch the Ready Up and hope for non gimmicky mechanics. The name is really bad tough, too try hard, desperate marketing to keep the hype for HoT alive.

AH needs to be a minor already in Valor similar to Warriors Adrenal Health in Defense, it will solve so many problems and free us from being pigeonholed with a mandatory GM. This way you can move WoP as a GM in Valor and also have PoV in Honor.

Of course adjust Meditations and AH numbers a bit, but it will be much better in the long run.

Radiant Retaliation needs to go Anet! Please stop pushing for Condi Retal builds, they are rat, and replace it with a GM worthy trait. The same with Empowering Might, Warrior already has Phalanx Strenght and it’s million times better. No need to have the same buff but in a weaker version.

I just saw the spread sheet that you shared. What. The. Hell. You messed up all the traits. Why would you put shattered Aegis in Valor? Or focus mastery to compete with Communal Defenses, or WoP to compete with SA? For real now I feel like people want to change things only for the sake of changing things, those whole traits look like a mess now no offense.

I might of missed it in the discussion, but NOW you also have Battle Presence not competing with PoV or WoP. Does that not change nothing? Not to mention the powerful synergy between Battle Presence, Absolute Resolution AND Purity of Body.

About Renewed Justice

I use 0/3/6/1/4 over the other meditation builds only because of this trait. VoJ recharge on blind stomp is awesome. Especially where there are multiple downed enemy bodies and your better option is to cleave, blinding the area multiple times as you finish your opponents, not only preventing CC but also dmg, plus the extra might you give to your party.

It’s a very good trait for a DPS guard, i’m surprised why is it that it’s not that popular in pvp.

Not to mention it is bread and butter in PvE for hard hitting trash mobs, and it’s the best trait a meditation guard can have in WvW for solo flipping camps. Blind and Might for days.

Elite Specialization Discussion

In my own vision of Guardian 2 things need to be added:
- party wide increased attack speed buff (similar to Phalanx)
- life on hit to sustain ourselves better in combat (thief please)
(not like medi’s don’t work, but I’m not a fan of they’re design)

The thing with symbols is that they’re seemingly meant to be for guardians like what mesmers have with phantasms. Only problem is that unlike mesmers with phantasms, guardians don’t get a GUARANTEED symbol regardless of what weapon set they are using. Smite should be a symbol and I’d argue that sword 3 could be reworked to become a symbol skill so that there will be a symbol skill on every weapon set.

And no, pls don’t nerf the minor trait. It’ll help make up for the loss of crit chance that the radiance line currently provides through precision.

Please, no more symbols. Only because we finally got a GM trait in Zeal that will benefit our symbols greatly, that doesn’t mean we need to go kitten and put symbols on every freaking thing.

And OP, by making RHS be viable to sword only you are not making sword more powerful, you are nerfing the other 1h’ers. And besides you got a 10% dmg modifiers to all weapons not just sword. You will have to choose between radiant retaliation and Zealot’s Flame. Probably because ZF would be very powerful in a 1h build that will make it more worth than 10% dmg mod.

I’m surprised no one is trying to push for in suggesting an Increased Atack Speed modifier. Radiance GM would use something like that because besides Amplified Wrath, which I can see it work nice on some Pvp builds, there is nothing worthy to take in a Pve setup.

Radiance or Zeal could use an Increased Atac Speed trait. Be it while wielding a torch (making torch even more valuable) or be it you get a % IAS for each burning enemy near you etc. Sad no one hypes this for Guard.

It’s because this game doesn’t have Inspect Gear/Trait’s option. It shields the lazy/ignorant people from the start. And the fact that there is no Dungeon/Fractal leaderboard, people don’t thrive to get better. Everyone is happy, does AC in random gear, win 1,55g then go back to zerg farming.

I like what they did with torch. But in my opinion it’s not final, for me Radiant Retaliation messes up the fun of a spot that could hold a very useful GM to help out our 1-handers.

Imagine you get 15% Increased Attack Speed while wielding a torch. Zealot’s flame now also blinds up to 5 targets until the time runs out (3s) or until you throw it (Similar to warriors new DWA). This would go so well with the new Inner Fire trait, Zealos Scepter and above all make Mace hit a little bit faster. This would def put torch as a top off hand in our kitten nal (wow a_r_s_e_n_a_l is censored wooo).
I don’t understand why they keep pushing this Radiant Retal crap, I mean no one likes it, no one uses it plus it’s broken.

Also when they merged some of the weaker traits they forgot to merge Healer’s Retribution with Wrathful Spirit. Those two traits are so weak, they can’t expect players to choose them instead of Fiery Wrath or RHS/Inner Fire. I don’t know either make them base, or merge them to replace Zealot’s Speed or something. They are in no world on the same level with the other Adepts.

I had some issue’s with the kill and revive traits from radiance and valor still, needs changing to be honest.

The kill trait from radiance (the one that refreshes justice, right?) is a very iconic and loved effect in PvE. I don’t think they would change it so easily.

Not only PVE, it’s very strong in Pvp also, it recharges VoJ on stomps. 0.3.6.1.4 > 2.1.6.1.4 imo.

Dmg is mediocre. Guard is good because of strong utilities and group suport. It’s self sufficiency is bottom tier tough. Traits are a mess, no defining power build, most useless GM traits of all classes m8. Yeah keep saying Guard is in a good spot and it will remain like this until GW3 arrives.

Hopefully HoT brings something unique to our Zeal line with at least a viable Pve/Pvp worthy GM. (Zeal by it’s name could have one of the most awesome game mechanics if devs would open up a bit they’re creativity, fresh air level even)

How will this change impact Guardian’s 2.1.6.1.4 or 0.1.6.1.6 meditation builds? Currently Guardian uses besides 6 in Valor 2 key traits, 1 in Honor for Vigorous Precision and one in Radiance for Justice is Blind.

Will you merge the Vigor trait in Radiance like Mesmer has it in they’re Dueling line or in Virtues maybe?

I think the guards health is too low.

In the beta before the release of the game the guardian had the same HP than the warrior, but the testing in PvP fastly proved that with such base HP a guardian bunker could handle three foes at time. Between nerfing the proactive defenses and nerfing the health ArenaNet did chose to nerf the health.

This might be a clue why Zeal line is so underpowered. I mean it would have made sense for a heavy class with strong active defense and also warrior like base health to have a weak power line in comparison to other classes. But since our health was fixed all our other traits were left as if it were balanced for that type of base HP. And our trait lines were not balanced for our current health. This is actually scary if you think about it. We might be dragging this class the wrong way for 2,5 years now with minor changes only since redesigning the whole class is too resource costing.

I mean yeah sure, lot’s of retal, long CD skills on weapon sets, spread around traits (spirit weapons) would all made much more sense with 18k base health. Wow, I hope i’m wrong tough.

-Torch only if you’re soloing and using scepter really, it gives better DPS than focus but you cannot maintain UC very easily a lot of the time and shield of wrath can sometimes make the difference of keeping/losing it.

Wrong. Aegis always takes priority before other active weapon blocks. So taking focus to keep UC up is flaw. You take scepter – focus/torch for bosses such as Molten and camp torch as much as possible and only go on focus if you need the extra block.
Both solo/group.

-Mace and shield basically never if you want to be optimal.

Shield yes, very niche, but Mace/GS is way better than sword/GS for trash. Mace 3rd hit it’s a true cleave (5 targets) while sword max cleave is 3, and besides that, sword auto chain is buggy as hell (that bug when it get’s stuck on the 3rd hit trying to complete the chain), making sword optimal, as you stated only for bosses/champs where you can’t use scepter or need the extra blind/teleport/personal projectile absorb.

Shield of judgment: add in daze 2sec.

Shield of absorption: while channeling heal allies in area.

  • part 2: shield of deflection: stop healing and retaliate projectile attacks with burning bolts. Can move. Adds 3sec duration and 5sec to CD.

Daze should be added to the mace 3, blind on shield 4 makes the most sense, plus it will have synergy with Blinding Exposure.

Spvp DPS guard needs help.

I love the skill 4. I wouldn’t change nothing to your proposal and would love for it to get implemented.

Now skill 5 sounds good but I don’t understand some things:

“AFTER 3 SECONDS, the next effect will register.
•When the time runs out, the more instances you’ve blocked the larger the symbol you drop”

So by instances I presume attacks blocked in that 1,5 frame? And the effect that you are talking about with the symbol it’s a passive effect that procs after you begun blocking those attacks after 3seconds? Making it more stronger with the more attacks you blocked?

Now for the second part, this seems a little bit weird.

“If you choose to reactivate the ability before the charge ends”
When does the charge end? Does it work like an engineer shield second function?

“the Guardian blasts all targets in front of the shield backwards, increasing the duration they are knocked down by 0.1 second per (2) charges absorbed”

You mean like moving them physically behind the guardian like a CC similar to Mesmer focus 4 or just a AoE knockdown?

Overall I like the idea of 5 also, the selling spot being that it can actually block and has a secondary function buit into it.

Some minor changes to our weapon sets, for the sake of QoL.

Greatsword

Leap of Faith
Add an additional 4s cripple or 3s chill to the existent blind.
Why? Because even with Binding Blades pull it’s not enough too keep our target from escaping. And we don’t have other low CD cc’s.

Whirling Wrath
Increase the dmg by 5%
Why? Our burst skills are lacking and most of them are on High CD or also play a defensive roll.

Symbol of Wrath
Allies standing in this symbol also gain 10% increased attack speed for the duration of the symbol.
Why? It will help out land our attacks better and gain a little bit more out of Zealots Blade healing procs.

Mace

Protector’s Strike
Also dazes foes for 1,5s when triggered in melee range.
Why? Please Anet http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mace_Head_Crack. At least give thieves that steal from us something that is not made up. Daze on mace will give a little bit more to bunker builds and make people think before hitting us. Because as of right now people don’t care if they hit a bunker guard while Protector’s Strike is up, it doesn’t even scratch them.

Sword

Sword of Wrath
I don’t know what needs to be done but the 3rd strike in the auto attack chain needs to get fixed. It’s very clunky, and when it misses a hit it will get stuck on the 3 attack trying to complete the chain while doing 0 dmg.

Flashing Blade
Redesign the skill so it has 2 charges and make it Dash/Blink forward in the direction you are facing. Reduce the distance of 1 charge to 450 Range. Blind triggers only if it connected to the target. Recharge 10s for a charge.
Why? Because we need a way to get out of combat. 10k HP base god.

Revenant skill cooldowns....

The weapon skill dmg coefficients seem to be a lot lower than our weapon sets. Comparing them with the ones on the wiki that is.

What bugs me is the quickness on 12s CD on dagger and the idea of melee staff. So much monk flavor ruined. Also it looks like even rev shield my turn out to be better than ours.

Personally I like RNG better than a boring grind. It what makes me do my daily 50/40’s. Because when I do get something I wanted, the excitement is 10x opposed to grinding it. You know that element of surprise. I know there is people that haven’t gotten nothing worthy of their time while others won the lottery too soon.

My favorite way to approach this would be to be able to open up with 25 – 35 pristine relics a favor track for a desired skin. And each day you finish a lvl 20, 30, 40, 50 fractal your chance for getting that skin is raised by 2, 3, 4 and 5% and it adds up each day until you get the desired skin that you opened the favor for. While in the mean time you can get other skins like a normal day or ascended chests as well.

For example, right now i’m missing 6 skins from the whole collection, But I want the axe skin for my warrior the most. I spend ~35 pristines to open up the favor for Axe.
I manage to do today a lvl 50 and a 40. By the end of the day my Axe reward track registers a +9% chance to get it next. If I don’t get axe next time I do a 50 and a 40 it goes by +18 chance for the next time and so on. Until I finally get my Axe and the favor track closes.

Think of it like a progressive RNG.

@Gaile Since you might still be around here, don’t you find it odd that there is no Giganticus Lupicus mini yet o.O? He is one of the most iconic bosses in this game and I bet you my T6 mats that it would mean a lot for the dungeon community to have a way to aquire it, maybe trough skill, like an achievement maybe (like a legit solo)

This mini would bring prestige and a nice way to brag and have it in our collection.

Some good suggestions so far, especially @Black Box’s long list.

I want to also add my tought’s on Zeal line. I feel like the symbol minor traits and Zealot’s speed are holding our class back as a whole when it comes to a real power build, which the guardian doesn’t currently have one, especially when it comes to our Zeal GM traits, there is nothing build defining there atm.

If you compare the guardian power line with ele and thief (all 3 lowest health pool in game) you can see that both thief and ele have builds that go 6 points into their power line in WvW/pvp (staff back line/panic strike). We don’t even benefit in Pve going 6 points in Zeal which is very annoying.

Before going to specific traits I would like to characterize Zeal and what I personally (myself only) think it should be about.

  • Increased Atack Speed
  • Heal a certain % of your HP pool on Crits/Burning targets (or better yet adapt Litany as Zeal trait/mechanic)
  • a small % chance to pass the attack speed for a few seconds to team
  • swiftness and a small % in CD reduction for our offhands after killing a foe

We are known for being slow, long CD on our weapon sets which our burst also suffers from it. All of the above will complement and make up for the guards weakness (also the lack of CC) in a nice power package.

This is what I feel Zeal should be about. Roughly.

Litany of Wrath - Anti logic?

Litany works on some Pve content. For example if you use binding blades with Litany in a pack of trash mobs your health fills instantly from under 1k to full, but it’s not even a niche skill. Guardians would love to use this skill, I know personally I would, the concept is nice and it pushes out the offensive guardian but I wouldn’t recommend it over Shelter, Signet or Healing Breeze in Pvp or WvW.

It’s like you said you need to precast it at the right time, then have a burst combo ready just to get the most out of your heal. Why go for such trouble when you can use shelter and also mitigate 100k dmg for 2s?

LoW needs to be either instant or either have a secondary effect like a AoE chill or Fire Nova or something to be useful, even then as a squishy guardian you can’t beat Shelter.
Basically Litany needs to be overpowered to make you consider it over Shelter.

Shield usefullness?

I understand the idea behind shield #5, that it’s a unique support ability, but shield #4 is just bad, really bad. Same as Torch #5. And what’s funny we don’t have a daze but thief can steal it from us, ain’t that something.

Gratz on the Hoard.
Currently there is no build that benefits from Rabid stats on guardian. Well some might say there is, but whatever. I would strictly choose a weapon based on the skin you prefer. Sword, shield, torch looks pretty dope. Maybe Long Bow (kappa).

Is up to you.
