This change was because there should never be 100% condition immunity without a cooldown in pvp. This was done after enough complaints that it should be removed.
Its health threshold was increased from 25% to 33% to combat the 50% reduction in condition immunity.
This was definitely a change for pvp, and most people will agree that automated response was not ok as it was before.

u are a ranger most likely using shortbow (the fastest auto attack) into his retal
pretty much u have to take off auto attack and press 1 everytime u want to use ur auto attack skill
and when he has retal up stop pressing 1.
you should always be keeping an eye his boons anyway too see when he has retaliation, stability, and protection mainly but you should be paying attention to all boons really.
i think its a good idea, but idk about people still being able to leave whenever they want, rather than at the end of the game.
unless the play now button worked so well that the player that left would be replaced in less than 30 seconds, which most likely is possible if the game is placing you in a match rather than choosing one off the browser.

honestly i think a lb for soloq is not the best idea,
it relys too much on random teammates, and luck with compositions.
there would not be as much qq on skyhammer, spirit watch, 4v5s, and matchmaking.
why? because the only reason to play would be for fun, rather than rating.
It would also get ride of the solo q try hards that consider that top tier play because of their leaderboard ranking, and bring those players to team q.

and that is why they won.
As a casual player you have no business commenting on the balance of competitive play.
Though i agree warrior is not extremely op, it is one of the best classes atm, and brings alot to the team, you could even say its crucial to the team team. No more op than a guard or a thief though imo.

I annihilation literally leaves no room for error in group fights. You could say that involves skill but all it really means is that each group will find the squishiest person on the opposing team and focus them down relentlessly while the opposing team does the same. Which pushes out glassy builds and makes everyone try to bunker…TDM leaves a little more room for error and makes it so that you at least have a choice in your builds. It’s also a more noob friendly mode

i do agree TDM is more noob friendly, and that’s why i think its fine where it is. in hotjoin. I think custom arenas should have ability to turn points off so u can just do 8v8/ 10v10 tdm with side objectives.
But as a true new game mode Annihilation is a much better option. it does leave a lot less room for error which is why i believe it is a better mode. If you are good at the game and want to play it competitively you should be punished for making mistakes, and i believe TDM is much too forgiving.
Zerker classes will never be nonviable. You could say thief and mesmer ( pretty much strictly zerker classes) are the two most viable. (though you could argue this is only due to stealth and ability to disengage) Yes people are going to try to focus down the squishier target ( I usually go for necro, ele, engi, ranger first) but there are always counters to that. You will usually see the player being focused staying back, while the opposing team has to push forward. If played right your team can put a decent amount of pressure while they waste their time trying to focus dude in the back. Then u push back when the time is right.
Overall, i feel like Annihilation has a much higher skill cap. TDM is fun for mindless killing, but that’s about it. i don’t believe it is fit for anywhere beside hotjoin.
It really would be that simple and skyhammer would be a pretty enjoyable
anet really just needs to realize that in a pvp game that is supposed to be about skilled play, nobody enjoys insta kills by pulls/ kbs, or having to reroll every time one map pops up in solo q jus to not get merked by any noob running a skyhammer build.
This should not be a map that emphasizes knocking people to their death, but instead what would make it different would be that there is only one treb. right now because of glass panels you cant even have team fights for hammer because half the players will just die instantly due to getting knocked off the map.
remove glass panels by hammer, a & c and make hammer dodgeable and no more qq.

When i used to have a team we would stay high ranked but have not been playing very often thru the past cpl months. After patch i am trying to start playing seriously again
i am rank 60
i play ranger, currently bm 0 10 30 0 30 but can run spirits if necessary
i also play warrior currently axe/sword with knights ammy 30 0 25 0 15 but can play hambow if necessary

TDM= deathmatch with respawns, the goal is to get to certain score or amount of kills to win.
Annihilation= no respawn deathmath (aka arena)
I thought it was clear that nobody wanted deathmatch and that it doesnt work well for this game? But over and over i see posts about people asking for TDM? I feel that there is no place for it besides hotjoin. It does not encourage good team play and encourages spawn camping. It does not encourage focusing down targets it encourages newer players to run around and kill aimlessly.
IMO Annihilation works much better, and im pretty sure anyone who has been playing pvp in this game for a while now would agree.
If u disagree, tell me why because i just cant see why anyone would prefer TDM.

Now I’ve been playing since release. I’ve played just about each class and I spectate a lot, especially in the fight club. I’ve been doing pvping in games for years. I was heavy into the pvp in gw1 and WoW to name the more popular ones.
1. Blinds- Blinds only way to remove is condi and wasting an attack. Condi removal is on long cooldowns for the most part, applying blinds usually isn’t. Wasting attack= spamming. Lowers skill floor and ceiling because of this. Hard to counter, easy to apply.
2. Aegis- Only way to remove is stripping boons and wasting an attack. Boon stripping is not very widely used in the current meta and is usually on a long CD or has a large skill punishment. Very few skills are unblockable and in the meta.
3. Blocking- same as aegis but with the only counter being unlockable skills.
4. Evading- Probably the worst of the bunch. No counter to evade skills. Character model promote advantage. Personally I think Vigor is a horrific boon that does nothing for this game. I also don’t think any weapons should be able to evade while attacking. Any class that relies on evades to survive is poorly designed in my eyes because the evade system lowers entertainment value, skill floor, and skill ceiling.
So instead lets jus give our selves a block % parry % dodge% like other games…

the defense mechanics are active, raising skill cap.. u see someone using a move u want to block (like earthshaker or something) and u throw out an aegis or a blind while their mid cast
if there were no panels and u could dodge hammer skyhammer wouldnt b bad at all.
& i like the falling off doesnt kill u unless ur under 40%
then its more about winning the fight then hitting them off rather than cheeze stealth pulls thru panels.
spirit watch is way worse than skyhammer imo

I would get rid of sword/sheild. u dont want a weaponset jus for fleeing, expesially when only have 5 sec weapon recharge so u cud b making the most out of both of them.
Never axe off hand, skill 5 does same amount as auto attack, auto attack i cleave as well.
if u want a more effecient axe burst build I would take out 10 from power and 10 from precision lines, put those in toughness for cleansing ire.
instead of axe./axe use axe sword (impale hits HARD for 15 sec cooldown and rip also does 2k) and also has a 2.5 sec block
and for offset use either longbow ( combustion shot great team fight aoe and great for theives) also pindown 3 sec immobilize + bleed and u have blind plus arcing arrow hits for 3k crit. also burst is very good with cleansing ire.
or hammer, stuns provide much more sustain with healing sig, very good for reses. burst is also very good with cleansing ire.
as for ur traits and utilitys, replace heightened focus with burst mastery, sharpened axes for burst mastery, and grab the extended stances trait and cleansing ire in toughness section. for utilities all stances zerker, balanced , and endure pain.
Spam ur burst skills for condi cleanse plus near infinite dodge (building momentum+ burst mastery)
kinda changed ur whole build, but its similar, u will still hit very high crits with eviscerate and do alot of dps, and it will work alot better for u.
I like it, not totally zerker but like between bunk/burst.
and not as op as toughness/power/precision.
maybe somthing healing major power mid and minor in precision/vitality?
a lil vitality wud help for those else n guards.
Why wouldn’t they? idk I’ve always veiwed PvP as the endgame, and the pve is kindof like a training ground ( because its stupid ez) and once u hit 80 they kindof start pushing you to the more challenging side of the game.
Thats how it was in gw1, and every other MMO i feel like as well.

im saying healing signet should not be viable ONLY to zerker warriors, but great for bunkers.

So anet is trying to increase build variety, but one of the factors in this is your heal skill. Nearly every class has one heal skill that 90% of players use (healing signet, consume conditions, healing spring, shelter, etc).!10% of players may use an alternate healing skill, but still there are many that absolutely no one uses (mending, heal as one, signet of mailice)
So what are your ideas to fix this??
I’ll start with the class i play.
these are my ideas, just ideas.
Warrior
Healing Signet
currently the only heal being used by warriors. why? because its the best. this need to be nerfed for anyone using zerker amulet lke was originally intended. with 300 healing power or less (300 is easily acheivable going for cleansing ire, merciless hammer) this skill should be TOTALLY unviable. it should scale with healing power way more, so it becomes as good as it is now with like maybe seven or eight hundred healing power, making it only useful for bunkers.
Healing Surge
currently second best warrior heal. used to be the only one used before healing sig.
still could use a little work. base heal at the moment is stage 0, 5.8k, stage 1 is 6.5k, stage 2 is 8.1k, and stage 3 is 9.8k
i would propose a small buff to the heals, making it more on par with healing signet, but still being an active heal skill that takes a little thought and can be interrupted.
i would say 6.5k, 7.5k, 9k, 11k. with those buffs, a zerker warrior is still getting less heals than the current healing sig zerker warrior, gaining about 12k every 30 sec, opposed to the 11k you would get from my proposal. (and thats only if u pop it exactly ever 30 sec unlike healing sig which is passive
Mending
the condition clear is nice but heal is still not enough. currently 5.5 every 20 sec, making around 8.3k every 30 sec.by far least amount of heals / sec. my propasal would be reducing cast time to 15 sec, and reverting it back to 2 condis instead of 3 ( would be way too much with cleansing ire) and nerfing base heal to 5k with that change it would be 10k every 30 sec. a little less healing than the others (not much) but you get a short cooldown and more condi clear ( ud think this skill got more use w/ condi meta, but doesnt bcuz it sucks)
jkjk back on topic, I really look forward to the arena map. Looks like a straight-up death match arena.
The other maps concern me since it doesn’t look like both sides have the same objectives… I’m not sure with what little information we have available to us, but if they give the two teams different objectives it’s very hard to balance the winning objectives…

hopin it will b more like gvg where attacking guild still has guild lord and gates to guard etc. they jus dont have a fancy castle more jus like a camp.
Today in developer steam, they talked about the future and new game modes, and showed off some of the new maps. From these maps u can assume the new game modes will be arenas (deathmatch) and gw1 style gvg (more complex version of foefire, kill the guild lord, with no cap points). if what we assume is true, anet is taking a huge step in the right direction with pvp, and this with new pvp rewards might bring this game to its true potential.
1st map: Arena
very basic map.named arena so one might guess it will be fore 2v2/3v3 arenas, maybe 5v5. Los, no places to run, no room for secondary objective. just even teams fighting to the death. looks great.
2nd map: concave
you can see some type of castle, two differ gates to get in, like foefire. the blue pin is probably where guild lord will be? see treb as well
3rd map: encampment
cant see much. looks like two passways, so team can split and go for flank on lord. looks like castle in background. maybe area in middle to fight.
4th map: stronghold
once again another castle. looks like another gvg map?
5th map: castle
cant really see anything from this picture. most likely a castle to break into for lord? it is named castle.
one thing all last four maps have in common, is the theme to break into castle. though, you cannot see two castles (one for each side) in any of the pics. Encampment as an example, it looks as there is one side attacking the castle, so either this could suggest guild halls(please!) where one guild attacks another guilds guild hall (gvg) or maybe some type of fort aspenwood style map? hopefully more is revealed soon.
8v8 is the reason many people are turned off by gw2 pvp when first trying it
when people first try pvp they get to the low skill cap and zergyness that is 8v8.
they try it and are left with a sour taste in their mouth, and do not return.
for example, i have like four friends from wow who bought the game when it first came out. they played hotjoin for a week, and refuse to come back to gw2.
make 8v8 in custom arenas only
the only reason there are more people in the 8v8 servers is because you have to scroll down and actually look for the 5v5 servers. im sure most the people in the 8v8 hotjoins are fairly new and dont even know about the 5v5 servers.
then maybe custom arenas will get some more use.

The good news is that players can create psuedo-2v2/3v3 Custom Arenas already, and there’s already a few rooms setup like that. I’d like to see more 2v2 type tournaments with prizes pop up in the future, and I’ve had a few people approach me saying they’d be interesting in organizing something like that.
except not really. we need a que for 2v2/3v3. in the custom areas, they fill up with about 15 or 20 people, and all of them click join team and the lucky 2 get to vs the winners of the last game. what that means is you have to watch over 5 or so games before you get in. who wants to do that. custom arenas do work for tournaments, but not for anything else
Warrior.
Hammer will take a nerf in damage, i think we have to accept it but whats about Rifle, Greatsword and Axes?
Rifle – damage is placed in 2 longcast skills olny, while volley can be fine as it is a channeling skill, kill shot takes definitely too long time to fire off. Its does lacking any real utility, and is completely outclassed by longbow in every format of the game. Ive actually posted some suggestion changes for it (like making bleed shot the same as marines shot just for example). I also think that placing crack shot in discipline line is a better idea.
Greatsword – some agree some disagree about reworking hundren blades and placing it into f1. But we all agree that arcing slide is useless, Any plans for the future? Also why rush dindt received leap from fiery gs yet? That swing animation is really buggy and keep missing, unlike the leap.
Axe – I think its save to say that aa is fine, eviscarate and maybe throw axe. But what about rest?
Sword – In case of condition builds its fine as it is. Howered in case of power builds offhand and flurry are terrible. Also bladetrail still without -20% to cd’s. Why?
Mace mainhand- I have mixed feeling about changes to skull crack. Mace on its own has 0 mobility, 0 cripple, and all skills are in melee range. Its is also a slow weapon. Also why counter blow dindt get love like riposte?
Longbow – future will show. But placement in traits is still under “?” In my opinion these traits should be merged and placed in arms. Actually its makes sense as longbow is a hybrid weapon so its benefit from both precision and condition damage

In GW1 RA, there is always a tank troll griefer that exist only to stay alive forever.
getting focused by 4 people in gw 2 u will die a lot faster than gw 1, especially with no healer. so that wouldnt be a problem.
2v2/3v3
most important, since there is only soloq and 5v5team q. many people with just a friend or two have trouble finding a full five. just straight deathmatch 1 life each. was very popular when custom arenas first came out and works very well for this game.
another soloq, besides conquest
so either a fort aspenwood style mode
10v10 or 15v15, larger groups, attack / defend a keep. almost like a mini wvw, soloq to enter.
would be a good bridge between pve/pvp/wvw. mainly just another soloq to keep busy when you dont have a group. conquest doesnt work very well soloq in my opinion, as commication in that mode, and often typing is not quick enough.
or a random arena style mode
4v4 deathmatch 1 life each. usually matches are fairly quick, ques are faster than any other game mode. soloq ofcourse. just a fun little thing to do while not in a group and lookin to play casually.
lol you guys dont know how to use it effectively i guess, i have noticed great difference.
for example, you are facing warrior mm necro, and spirit ranger.
you press tab, and you have the warrior targeted, then tab again and u have the necro, then the ranger.
if you press tab one more time it will go through the minions and spirits
so all you have to do is loose targeting( click anything that is not a player, like a wall or something) and press tab again and you will be back on the warrior
So it would have to be something truly innovative and unusual for me to get back into it, for example 20 vs 20 or even 40 cs 40 arena, Quake 2 style grapples, large ship to ship combat with people swinging on ropes, steering into the ground, etc.
Never going to happen, go play wvw or buy another game
There is simply no amount of pvp skins, boosters, finishers that will make me play this again until its worth my while. I need a somewhat meaningful gaming experience.

it got really popular when custom arenas came out
servers would fill up and every one would spam the join team button to get into a game after a 2v2 or 3v3 just ended.
Every class was used ( except warrior and necros where more rare, but now both have gotten buffed.)
people eventually got sick of waiting 20 min every time they wanted to play, and servers died out.
Anet needs to realize that arenas work well for this game. very well.
I know atleast 5 people off the top of my head that refuse to play this game for the sole reason that it doesnt have arenas.

it took me from launch to july to play wvw
because it took me 11 months to get an 80 because i cant stand pve.
in the end i had to pay gems and craft to 80.
gold+exp would bring alot of spvpers to wvw, and alot of pvers n wvw players to pvp because they wouldnt have to halt their progression.
Why does no one use it? in gw1 ( sorry for the refrence) there would be people in tombs or HA lfg in map chat all day.
In guild wars 2, everyone seems to only play with people that they know or have played with before (from my experience)
now we have a lfg tool, and a specific tab just for tpvp.
and it works. pretty well.
