You want your server to be open to guild buying and bandwagoning.. as a PPT pug that’s understandable I guess.
Some people think FULL status is because of bad math, others think it’s because it’s a PVE server. Until anet explains how it works or makes a separation between WvW and megaserver it’s not going to change. Heck there probably making a boatload on alt accounts and fairweather transfers looking for a hard carry.
They way they make such a big showing on the weekend/reset and then disappear all week I’m leaning twords fairweather with a heavy dose of alt accounts.
Playing for second and helping out your big brother server is lamer tactix no matter what server or community is doing it. I would probably leave a server like that too whichever server that might be.
T2 is nice for fights most of the day and night but t3 sure looking nice now too.. mag and sbi.. both good fighting servers.
my bet is that what you need to do in the new WvW to be “PPT productive” will include more PvP.
So how will it be a loss? The new map doesn’t look to support the kind of larger zerg on zerg battles. Players won’t be able to group up and spam 1 so easily now.
Well I sure hope the new map will have some decent keep sieges and largish zergs. Why won’t it be good for large fights?
I’d be all for it leaning more twords groups of 20s / 30s but if the caps are the same why won’t blobs still be used?

No, not really. The OP is saying that he should be allowed to interrupt duels and that sort of stuff if OP deems them to not be playing WvW “properly”. This OP is going to be the same guy coming here to cry on the forums about losing stuff with queued maps when all the duelists and GvG players start using guild halls.
If all goes well we won’t have to avoid duels and scrims in WvW at all. I know some people enjoy reading rage tells for interrupting what others have deemed an “off limits fight” but I’d rather see it all taken to OS or these upcomming arena’s.
You should just be able to /duel or /duelbet on any pve map you want to. I loved that about EQ2.

It wouldn’t be a problem except there’s these self limiting queue’s. Think the word right now is around 80 people per side? When 20 – 40 people on a queued map “decide they don’t want to play WvW” anymore just forget it… time to log onto an alt account heh.
PPT and karma trains are different things. True WvW player dont want gvg guilds to “keep other players busy” true WvW player want to fight em. Plying responsibly defending your objectives, controlling supply lines gives best fight in WvW, you should know that.

WvW is end game and your expected to have the leet gear and phat lootz for end game. I also do mostly wuv and will probably never have a legendary, but I like the idea of people with a legendary getting a 20% boost on their weopon stats or whatever it is.
It’s definitely going to be more accessible to new and casual players with the upcoming changes, namely the automatic upgrading and dolyak protection. When server bloodlust is removed that should help too it just dosen’t work well for casual or hardcore in my experience.
As to fairweathering IMO thats mostly caused by the PPT system and duration of the matches.
PPT needs to be adapted for hold time duration and other factors, suggested by many others.
If server rank was applied by win/place/show ratio and servers given a title like rabbit – dragon to place them.. that might keep people interested. Something better than the current glicko system anyway.
You shouldn’t need to pick a server to start playing anymore.
If you picked from in-game for the fist time if/when you ever choose to try WvW, it wouldn’t mess things up for servers like DB that had alot of new accounts added to it.
Traveler Runes and alts. Ofc, if I’d solely safe money for a possible future transfer, I would be able to. However, I never had more than 150g on my character ever…
I know those expensive rune sets can set you back especially if you switch builds often.
How much Karma, Laurels, and badges of honor do you have? You can put that stuff to good use too. T6 mats building up? Pricecheck some in-demand exotic gear and craft it for the TP.
The point is that it doesn’t make sense to me to tie the transfer cost to a population, that doesn’t say anything about the actual WvW population or performance.
Thats probably why they made the cost the same for all servers. Whether you want higher populations or lower your still server hopping. The cost of moving seems about right to me in terms of how many gems I can make just playing. As to being $20 yeah that seems a little high maybe.
Too bad they don’t do bonus gem sales that I’ve seen. SOE loved doing that for their station cash.
BTW: I do not want to transfer “once a week or two”. I would like to transfer one time in 2 years. I repeat: I wanna transfer to the kittening lowest ranking server and have to pay the same price as I would like to bandwagon the top server. .
So 2 years and never transferred? Not sure what you spend all your money on but 2 years you should be fine on gold/gems. Unless you collect legendarys or craft new sets of ascended constantly.
If you exclusively roam/scout and are not making any loot at all you might try a build with more movement. Good roamers should be making it to decisive fights and getting action too.
EoTM is mostly hated for its map design. Long, long runs and a waypoint that dosent do much for you. So much of the map is a tightrope walk over certain death and another long run that will make you find something else to do. Troll bridges everywhere, confusing events and twisting vertical climbs that verge on jump puzzles.
I am almost exclusively roaming, scouting and upgrading in WvW… So I have only expenses and nearly no income. How do you expect me, to ever get the gold for this?
Your not expected to have such a huge gold income that you can transfer every week or two. Raising 1800 gems is on par with crafting ascended gear, or working on a legendary, meant to be expensive and time consuming.
If you never tap a lord for bags or do any kind of large scale in WvW you may have to bite the bullet and K-Train somewhere like silverwastes or EoTM, if you really need to leave your server.
The prices seem about right to me. Moving servers should cost at least a week or two of gold farming.
If you pay money for gems to do it there should be some kind of discount probably… something like a transfer token for $5 – $15 instead of buying gems.
1v1v1 works better on a map designed like Eternal Battlegrounds. Each get a keep and fight over castle and their corner. The borderland maps on the other hand not so much.
The new map promises chokes to somewhat control the flow of map traffic, which should help when your home BL is getting double-teamed.
Funny how SoS gets some numbers and goes right to focus YB. Every transfer seems to want to test their might against the bend.

Good news is you can transfer once a week. Support Anet and buy gems or Google something like “fastest gold farming walkthru”. Find a server that works for your sitch.
If your server loyal you could try to be the treasurer or post on their website about recuitment.
I suppose we should continue the fiction that the server populations actually behave differently.

Just stick with the tried and true “the other server seigehumps”. It’s still the best way to recuit and gain favor in politics.

GL with that now that the map cap has been lowered. FA’s 3:1 blob tactix not as effective anymore.
It should at least lose claim if +5 supply buff runs out.
The event spawns every 3 hours so at least it can’t be flipped constantly like bloodlust, and they are adding steel doors so gate melting won’t happen as fast as it does now.
Underworld is nearly 100 points away pretty close for a roll. Just do fights or something a let the PPT ride.

Well it used to as low as 800 gems to xfer to the lower servers. Then there was stealth change that put all servers to high population status and 1600 cost. While this may deter the poor pugs/militia from xfering it dosen’t stop the bandwagon imbalance problem. Now it just makes people more stuck in these bad matchups.
Need a new stealth change even if its back to the old way.

Would love to see a scaling system based off how often you transfer. Say it starts at 400 gems for your first transfer, then 800, then 1200, 1600 and goes back down after a month or so.
People can’t dole out 1600 gems to test the waters of a new sever or tier.
Perhaps not FA, but YB will, on a near daily basis have 3 if not 4 maps queued.
YB pretty much the same as FA it seems. 4 maps queued on friday then pretty much the usual 0 queues all day. You see a map queue up now and then during primetime, maybe 2 maps if things are getting hit hard.
Was strange seeing 4 deep map queues on friday night then nothing after that. Must be a ton of people that only play on friday nights.
Save your stun break for that oh no moment. And try not to get hit by the hammer train.
I posted awhile back that it might make people think twice about fighting. But it seems to be working out great. As Zoel said it really helps against people who would 2v1 to match fix the tiers. I hope they keep it.

I hope we get an update on this soon its been a real problem lately.
A fully upgraded camp is not as easy to take. If the camp is really important at the current time it will probably be defended and upgraded. Walls might add a little too much defense for roamers if they could fight from inside.

ESO is similar but charging a subscription is so gauche.
How fast do you all think they’ll roll it back? I can already see the fields of siege hoping to rack up the points. Theres just too many random things going on in wvw to make it a useful scoring mode. PPK only maps tho hmm I might go for that.

There needs to be some form of swords on the map. It would be cool if a scout could trigger the swords or something like that.

I agree bottom tier servers should get free transfers or it should only cost a few hundred gems.
The new color system is helping a little from what I’ve seen. If your holding a keep or working supply ect use a yellow tag. People won’t expect you to run everything and you can find some like minded support.
Too many people like their server and community. The suggestions to change outmanned and/or change the way keeps work could be a better fix.
How about instead of allowing a huge amount of the WvW population to stay on 1 server(lets say hypothetically its Blackgate) we shut down that 1 server and make those people switch to other servers.

He is suggesting a tournament where servers fight for the right to survive. 3rd place gets a free transfer and closes down. Would only take 1 or 2 servers to even out pops abit I bet. Shutting down a weak low population server makes plenty of sense. Killing a thriving server does not.

(and 500% increase seems utterly ridiculous to me, not entirely sure how many people you’d need to take down 1 with such a buff but I’ll assume that’s just a number given as an example of the concept and not as an actual idea.)
If the buff applied to keeps it would not effect small scale fights at all.
I suppose a havok group working as a distraction for their blob would not be able to take the tower they are on, but still they have a blob on map and are outnumbering you because they know coverage gaps are easy wins.
Not letting people in seems like a bad idea, sometimes you can’t help that your server has more people.
I don’t think excluding people would happen in practice. Only because their would be no way for players to enforce it on their servermates. People would accept it and not try to rely on a buff but instead welcome reinforcements, if their ever come.
It could also add to strategy. Say someone says “oh they want to blob huh we’ll stay here and with our tiny force and the other 4 people online go to their borderland and make them pull off to defend.”

Remove outnumbered from players and give it to keep/tower lords.
So long as the keep or tower lord is outnumbered, gates and walls have 10x their health and take half as much damage from siege. All friendly siege within 5000 yards of the lord deals 5x the damage and have 10x the health.
That should show those off-hour heroes who’s boss!
I think thats a great idea. Since it would only trigger if the enemy tries to server blob in the middle of the night. That would allow for off-hours play while discouraging off-hour K-Training.
I think we can all agree that if ANET would remove downstate and/or rally mechanic then guilds probably wouldn’t care as much.
Too true. Killing an uplevel pug should not rally 5 – 10 people or whatever it is. Someone said anyone who hit the person will get back up… Keep it to just banners, multiple skills, and rub rubs… isn’t that enough?
