You don’t just click the “have banner” button. Larger group means more guilds hugged together which means more access to banners.

Also this logic of small group is skilled and large group is no skill; total nonsense. Large group can easily mean 2 or 3 guild groups hugging one another. Or 1 guild raid and 20 other pugs also on team speak. Do you guys ever read the map chat? Things like “Open raid join TS on such and such channel”.

Maybe banners would be better if they first fixed the population imbalances. But pretty much everything from banners to blobwide food breaks down when its bandwagon time.

All it takes is a few people abusing the nukes to troll a fight. No fun, not good for WvW.

One has to wonder if these things and the new map are designed to push everyone to the EtoM model -megaserver with constant karma trains… I am starting to think the new borderlands were designed specifically to push PPT and eliminate a lot of the fighting….

It worked on me. Don’t need to worry about tactivators and banners in EotM. Population problems do not persist for weeks and months at a time. Heck I was sold at no dragon banners.

It has the same issues, I wasn’t claiming it’s better than normal WvW. Just that if people want action, which is lacking in real WvW, you can find some decent fights in EOTM. Just passing the word along so people know where to go.

I have to agree, there is a lot more fights people going there nowadays since the servers are just bad anymore.

If you play EotM semi-often you know there is still a lot of people playing the massive PvP game. Had some good afternoon battles, big zergs. Gives some hope for the new WvW that is supposedly coming.

The banner is just more gimmicks that are not needed in WvW. They need to encourage open field fights and tower attack and tower defense. The key is players. Not siege, not banners, but actual players. ANET has lost focus on that at some point.

Yeah it’s a real shame. Even the classes and builds are becoming gimmicks with the new HoT stuff. It’s pay to win except everyone loses.

Do not want the old BL back. Would rather see some simple fixes to the new BL, like remove shrines/buffs, open the waypoints for the home team to use.. add stairway paths that are easy to understand.

Edit: Oh and the oasis event…remove that obv.

They are afraid that WvW will turn into Maps where you have giant Guild blobs running around unseen by the lowly pugs whose only wish is to enjoy part of what makes wvw so much fun.

So it’s basically a case of them… right or wrong… discouraging anti-social behavior on the part of guilds. The Dev reply in this thread practically screams what I just said.

Yep it’s supposed to be an entire server having fun playing together. They are trying to cater to these guilds still. They give them arena’s and even adjust the costs after guilds asked them to.. Give them a big ring in the obsidian sanctum.. but nothing seems good enough. All they get for their efforts is boycotts and more anti social behavior.

There is a dedicated PvF forum, this is not the place. It’s pretty obvious you know little about actual WvW, and very clear that you know nothing about what “they” intend. Posting this kind of comment really doesn’t make you relevant to the discussion nor the issues at hand.

The point is its “worlds vs worlds” not “my guild should be catered to”. It’s correct in that they intend “zerg” fighting. That’s the game. Use Ctrl-T if your gunna be anti-WvW.

Yep.. Tags are baad bad bad. Show every friendly player on the map and there would be no problem. The tags wouldn’t be the only thing visable anymore. Toxic guilds crying about sharing a map with their allies well…one step at a time.

Yeah tags aren’t good for WvW. Remove public tags altogether they are cancer. Just show all friendlies on the map at all times.. this would work much better.

Guilds are anti-wvw. They got their guild hall arenas and are still complaining about WvW. Hey guys its a massive war you don’t want others on the map too bad.

Devs are right that WvW is completely driven by commander tags. Instead of messing with tags they should add an option to toggle friendly green dots on the entire map, not just in local area.

If your doing a transfer don’t bother with anything but tier 1. For NA I picked Yaks Bend. They don’t have the massive map queue blobs the others have right now tho. JQ probably has the most 24/7 K-Trains. BG also likes to omni-blob for k/d pride. Either of those are fine since balance ain’t gonna happen without an overhaul.

I agree that player pooling/megaserver is the way to go. I feel EotM needs explain because its a terrible example and people get turned off by it. Your idea is a good one..alot of these are good. Really just takes good PvP maps and a easy way to transfer.

But whatever if the leaks are true about these alliance groups or what not that’s still better than EotM or WvW.

You still don’t seem to understand how EotM works. The “player pooling” still occurs in the WvW servers, then it is carried over to the EotM overflow maps. If you are unaware the strongest servers are usually the green color. When you carry over the concept of one color being stronger into EoTM you instantly get imbalance.

This really isn’t that hard to understand if you know what your talking about. I bring up semantics because calling EotM a “megaserver” is very misleading. The way it works is strange. It was meant to be somehow linked to the servers, as evidenced in the “supply drops” you get in WvW.

EotM could be called an extention of the WvW color coded system. Could be called an overflow of stacked servers creating further unbalanced matches. But it does not work like a real WvW alliance based system should.

Why don’t we just call it mega-alliance so people don’t get lost in semantics. EotM does not do alliances. All it does is create overflows for servers that are stacked. There is no chance of balance, only last a few hours, nothing like what a WvW mega-alliance-server system would be.

Wvw is broken right now due to multiple reasons – population issues might have been a thing a year ago, now we face different stuff.
Megaservers would be the end of wvw, yes.

This.

Fixing population was something they should have done in 2015.
Fixing rallies off kills and introducing PPK was something that would have been great in 2013.

It’s 2016, the game mode is such a disastrous shape right now, there’s no point in fixing problems from a bygone era.

So we all agree WvW is a bygone era. PPT servers never worked well anyway we mostly just played because the massive battles were so fun. The keeps and siege and all that was just added flavor.

Now that that’s settled time for mega-alliance hype?

Is it an exploit when Anet hasn’t said or done anything about it? Man like 3 months and they haven’t fixed even the little things that are broke.

Don’t know who actually likes PvE maps…but I wish I did. I’m not going to install ESO a third time just to see if its gotten any better tho. Maybe give planetside 2 another try..daybreak games? Hehe what’s that. Poor SoE down the tubes

They still haven’t fixed the waypoint exploit. I mean comon just respawn over and over again while defending. Suicide rush as many times as you want just respawn 10 feet away??? It’s almost funny just how abandoned WvW is. Cant even put one guy on that for an afternoon?

Sure when your facing more numbers its easier to get killed or stunlocked. Still it’s more of a learn to play issue than it is a broken mechanic.

If your commander is playing pirate ship so will the rest of the zerg… if you don’t have enough good melee in the zerg your push will fail… stability/invuns/endurance/dodges/evades/blocks/passives…. that all works well enogh

Stability is fine. I see zergs run right thru CC all the time. I go deep with warr or guard and come out without being stunlocked. Trick is you have to have skill and time you stabs/stunbreaks/evades/dodges/invuns.

I chase down mesmers, eles ect that don’t seem bothered by CC at all. Probably all the new passives but they ain’t getting caught no sir.

For starters these people you are to recruit probably aren’t on your server to begin with. To get to you they have to understand how WvW recruiting works, then pay $25 USD or somewhere around 400 – 500 gold.

Others leave or take breaks and suddenly their faced with another $25 cost. Changing it up with a new server is actually pretty fun, all the new people and play styles… but it sure is expensive.

No, we brought them to the game, they got brand new accounts and we fund/help their leveling and gearing to get them to WvW. They are currently leveling atm… but no transfers needed because they start on mag.

Oh good lets hope by the time their leveled and geared up mag is still doing WvW. I know they imploded and dropped far not long ago. That’s very discouraging for people especially when they don’t want to deal with transferring.

But nice to see people are still putting in the effort for these servers. SoS was raising money again when I left for T1. I gave 50 gold last time tho, few hundred to YB while there, probably 100 to FA, nice to be back on a “very high” pop server again tho. People are too spread out.

I support Diku in his/her proposal. I am not a forum person but currently the darkness in the game mode that i love is getting too dense. This proposal is something that i wanted for a long time actually, and even thought was in place or was to come sooner.

As a 3 year Gw2 EU player I play pretty much any content, being it pve (mastery 69), wvw (rank 644) and spvp (Ruby and rank 80). I am mainly a serious combat lover on the engineer class. It is true that back in year one i transffered servers due to wvw population imbalance in seafarer’s rest, but was for a very short time. This experiment was made in an NA server actually, and it wasn’t as different or scary of a test that i thought it would be.

I’m speaking for two people at least when i agree on this proposal. Would truly love to be able to play with my real life friends again who are scattered through different servers…being most of them (at least 6) offline and demoralized by not being able to play wvw with their friends…

Nice résumé. I’ve been on and off 3 years, exclusive WvW, around rank 2450 (very little EotM).

Have seen alot of requests like this come and go. From my experience have learned that WvW is not a priority, probably not profitable, and not likely to change. Just spend more free time on TV or other games now. Would prefer more gw2 but oh well.

Made the last 2 resets and poor SoS just couldn’t compete. Outnumbered buff all night.. maybe half a zerg trying to fight map queues. BL empty…

Learned reset night is a silly ritual made by the playerbase. We need Alliances or whatever, these servers are ruining WvW.

Your giving up too Diku? Another great PvF’er falls. Just transfer to T1 for the time being. I’m really close now maybe 80 gold to go. It’s hard to make bank on SoS but I’m almost out of this dead tier.

Too bad cuz Tarnished Coast seems to have life still. That won’t last long tho they will tire of attacking doors waiting for fights that will never come.

Yep sad for us that they need to focus on PvE and cranking out the PvP tournaments. Seems like every week the login is talking about some new $50,000 league.

The money is just not in RvR. I mean people still ranting about a 0% wall bug for how long now?? Camelot Unchained going to charge monthly because they know their going to need it.

I’m assuming it replaces your weopon(s), it dosent seem to do much for attacking. I consider dropping a Bali or AC in a fight much more detrimental. Something I see far more often.

These mechanics aren’t that special and don’t really matter when half the zerg dies on Inc. Sure they could change the invun time or something. Blobbing and population imbalance is still the main problem.

Would have imagined this to be a nice tool for commanders. But I guess everything is just exploited, builds, skill bugs, anything to get a cheap win people will do en masse.

This stuff is small compared to blob stacking, blobs only leaving walls when they have more numbers..seige bunkering.

Honestly the biggest problem with fights is still people dying in the first 2 seconds. A L2P issue if you will.

SoS has had a particularly low population for a long time actually. For the months YB was in T2 SoS was still pretty dead even back then. They made up for score by teaming up with FA.

Things might not be so horribly unbalanced if matchups changed more often. Or if transfer costs didn’t split up the populations so much.

I don’t dig thru the dmg chat so probably a few hits from these broken classes. Either way it’s not balanced IMO. Power creep is real believe it.

Played a ton of melee and did just fine with power/precision/tough armor (Knights), power/precision/ferocity trinkets (Berserker) with a little PTV mixed in.

Maybe being full bunker was always intended as you seem to imply. When I can afford the insignias I’m going to switch up my ascended gear.. just a pain I don’t want to deal with.

  • The new HoT stats have 4 stats and seem to give more overall points, and also you can’t get them if you’re not HoT.

Does that mean they are account bound or can I get them thru TP or crafting? Is it similar to celestial where you have alot of stats but not that great of power/ferocity ect?

Range was always able to do glass builds for high damage. Don’t know if melee were “better” really but they were able to push to the back line without being 1 shotted.

I!m guessing the new meta would be to just build full bunker nomads tanks. Seems to be what people are doing based off how some are near unkillable. The p2w of HoT classes just gives them more of both.

Or just run a few healers to support melees.

That doesn’t counter the 1 shot builds. Having the right healers is too unreliable, unless your waiting around for a special guild raid or something.. Healing stat is good for all incoming heals too if I recall. Need at least full vitality/toughness gear nowadays it seems tho at the least, never used vitality much.. very small amounts.

How is full nomads builds for melee classes now? My war is useless with a power build and trying to save for a transfer. Pretty much stuck using ele for the time being. Ahoy fellow pirates!

The towers barricades blocking the easy paths going north to south can be destroyed with siege.

You can actually kill them without siege. Especially with any of the following: Hound Buff from Bay, Mesmer running quickness well and switching to Time Warp with a 4 man or 5 man group can Continuum Split and get it down very quickly. A couple of revenants running auto Shiro, or a scrapper or 3. Many ways you put together a common havoc group (at least in my guild) you are going to have the swiftness buffs and group combat buffs to get around the map surprisingly quickly.

Your describing guild groups and 5+ man roaming parties. Guilds have been AWOL and the map does not allow for roamers so no one even bothers. Old map you could roam without a group so eventually numbers would start to build up…not anymore.

Cant even have fun on your own anymore. I used to like working the north diamond in alpine, you could actually use the towers to work on garri, or risk a cata and do both outer and inner.

EB still functions but kinda pointless when there 3 broken maps messing up the score.

Overflows are not good. Spooling up an empty instance just causes people to either log out or try to “taxi” to a populated map.

Why not just redo the transfer system so you can join any map, on any server. If the map is queued just pick something else or queue up. People who belong to that server could get priority.

So you can spend gems for affiliation or you can just merc for free.

I like that they changed to a new map. The thing I hate is that nothing has been done to fix it since release. Like nothing at all, not even any little quality of life fixes. Sure it needs a redesign like really badly but are they doing anything? Maybe who knows… Its been months without a peep from them.
