use the grenade build but swap out grenadier for forceful explosives. or use a bomb grenade mix and swap out short fuse with forceful explosives. you can use either rampager or zerk

buffs all around but you’re still not satisfied.

i transmuted my infused fractal capacitor to the starting engineer backpiece. hobosacks for life. i play an asura, so i have no problem with them. they’re not goofy and oversized like they are on humans.

i’d like turrets to target what i’m targeting.
i’d also like if i could move the turrets like ritualist spirits.

anyway as for healing turret are you seriously going to cry about pressing two buttons for a 15 sec cooldown heal that also heals your party and removes multiple conditions and is a blast finisher and provides a water field. TWO BUTTONS kitten BUFF ENGIS

hgh in the alchemy tree, juggernaut in the firearms tree, sigil of strength, sigil of battle, runes of altruism. you could take might/boon duration runes and easily maintain 25 stacks by yourself. but if you party with an elementalist or a warrior they could easily put 10-20 stacks of might on the entire group so maybe you’ll want to grab more offensive runes.

so essentially your reasoning for making this whine thread is that you’re too lazy to press buttons. did i get that right? the class is fine. otherwise people wouldn’t be risking prize money playing it. l2p, etc etc.

so you think engineers perform adequately and yet you are here crying and moaning for buffs. next thread.

how could i have been so blind? obviously engineers need to be able to run two utilities in one slot! having only one and a half utilities per slot isn’t enough. obviously we need to be able to do 50k damage with every single one of our abilities untraited. and even though most top tournament teams who play with prize money on the line run an engineer, they are just a disgusting underpowered class. stupid anet. we need buffs! more buffs!

if you hate engineers so much can you please just go roll another class? guarantee within a month we’ll see a “The Lament of the Guardian” thread.

a ft engi is comparable to guardian dps lol. and a ft engi stays in ft most of the time to keep up might stacks.

learn the class before you start bashing away.

as for which class is better, play them both and see which one you like more. that will be the better class.

to answer your questions, yes it’s very viable and no pugs won’t care as long as you can survive. the only issue with the FT build is that you will not do as well on bosses with retaliation such as the hotw p1 boss or the charr fractal boss. luckily these bosses are few and far between and you can always swap to a SD build by changing a trait and some utilities to deal with them. bring a rifle.

i also don’t like med kit at all and much prefer the healing turret but that’s just me.

a pure EG build will do terrible damage.

i also don’t understand the hate on toolbelt skills. an hgh engineer has three extra aoe condition removals. that’s 6 condi removals, excellent for both pve and especially in pvp, and that’s not even including the might stacks, the boons, the stability, etc.

a static discharge engi is built based on toolbelt usage.

any bomb engi has a huge aoe knockback. point control? blast finisher? these are all apparently useless?

rocket boots toolbelt is essentially blowtorch, which is huge damage.

i’m not gonna go over all the other good toolbelt skills, but someone explain to me what the issues are with toolbelt abilities. i’m certainly not seeing them. do you guys pick your complaints out of a hat or what?

Typical from a PVE player. 8.5k auto attacks with bombs….maybe with stupid buffs or something but in pvp…not gonna happen. If it did you would get hit with the nerf bat so hard you wouldn’t know what day it was.

LOL mace/hammer vs GS/axe in pvp is no contest. While probably you would choose mace or hammer rather than both…both are extremely good in pvp. Axe and GS are easy to dodge and don’t have half the control. Although many warriors still use the sword for mobility its not the damage that’s great unless you stunned the target with your mace ofcourse, otherwise they will just dodge or move from your 100 blades and you will stand there hitting air.

No class can be kited forever.

thanks for the pvp lessons though i would imagine that anyone reading 8.5k bomb auto attacks would understand this was directed at whiny pve engis. i assumed too much and i apologize.

the “feedback” in here is like someone going to the warrior forums and saying 100b doesn’t do enough damage.

leveling is pretty fun the first few times you do it so you’ll have a good time if you’re a new player.
the game looks and feels amazing.
i enjoy the combat system in this game much more than any other mmo.
$50 gets you everything. no monthly subscriptions, no pay to win items.

lack of end game pve content.
lack of pvp variety in terms of game modes.
not a fan of the living world style of content implementation (small content updates/additions every 2 weeks.)
no permanent trial version.
the final dungeon was a huge letdown.

this thread is literally a giant congregation of whiners. if you don’t like the class, switch. if you don’t know how to play, learn. if your build doesn’t do damage, read the previous sentence and then google a new one.

if you don’t think engineer does good damage in dungeons, check out that thread where the guy spams 8.5k bomb auto attacks. then hang your head in shame, copy his build and quit posting here.

anyone who compares engis to ele needs to shut up. “Wah! Wah! Only Elementalists don’t need to waste all their utilities to do so.” last time i checked, the cooldown on attunement swapping is 9 times longer fully traited than kit swapping. furthermore eles and engis have different playstyles. no ele will come close to matching the dps of an engi, but they have huge partywide buffs and constant self heals.

a comment for a different forum, but to the guy who says mace/hammer damage is comparable to axe/gs warrior, lol. please stop.

comparing traits from different classes is idiotic. the reason why dogged march is an adept trait is because engineers don’t have the problem of being kited forever and ever and ever. but since it’s apparently the cool thing to do, check out dhuumfire, a grandmaster trait that’s worse than incendiary powder, an adept trait. funny how nobody mentions that. oh no engineer traits must be op then!!11

the only agreeable topic that that has any substance in this thread is that a full turret build is worthless. but you know that we’re not unique in this issue right? ever see a full spirit weapon guardian? how about a full glyph elementalist? some builds are just better than others. get over it. yes i agree turrets need to be worked on, but that can be discussed elsewhere instead of a cry thread that no dev will ever pay attention to.

Best tool belt ever!? mine doesn’t do half of that….or could it be your not taking into account at all RNG…and your using 3 elixirs giving you no kits…

i run elixir h, b, s, and grenade kit that’s 3 elixirs and a kit. that’s 3 aoe condi removals, stability/stealth, and other random boons + might stacks on the tool belt alone. the fact that anyone can say that that’s bad is beyond my ability to comprehend. the only randomness is stability vs stealth. i don’t care for the other random toss elixir boons. i’ve not once thrown an elixir b and hoped for one of the boons. i throw them to remove a condition and stack might. anything extra i get is just that, extra.

think of the money they’d get with their $10 unlimited use fishing rod.

i don’t understand why people cry about such silly things when it comes to engineers.

i get an extra 3 condi removals, stability, stealth, might stacks with my tool belt skills and that’s somehow less useful than your example of warrior adrenaline, something that’s completely worthless unless they charge it up or blow their heal? and if you’re using toss elixirs for their random boons well you’re just gimping yourself. if you’re running elixirs, you should have at least 409. that’s multiple aoe condi removals. if you’re also running hgh then it’s another might stack. the random boons are just bonuses.

if you’re running a power build, elixir x is an extremely powerful point control tool in tpvp and in general does a lot of damage. i don’t see an issue with elixir x.

anet didn’t nerf kits. the kits are exactly the same as they were prepatch.

down 2 is an interrupt like many other down 2 abilities and it has synergy with our down 3 which is ANOTHER interrupt that’s also aoe and a blast finisher. what exactly is wrong with our down skills?

you say our traits are a joke, and yet give no reasoning other than “oh look at this trait nobody uses” as if we are completely unique in that department. and your example complaint about mobility and endurance regeneration doesn’t even take into account the fact that we have permanent vigor and swiftness. god what a joke those traits are!

tldr engineers are fine.

i never understood the concept of NEED HEAVY CLASS and then right next to that they put FULL ZERK GEAR. seems silly.

anyway they’ll expect you to, like all other classes, deal damage and not die. our special function is that we can reflect projectiles and trivialize otherwise annoying fights. anything else you can do is just a bonus as long as it doesn’t take away from the 3.

so people who don’t have ascended weapons should be doing ascended weapon damage through kits. good logic! and the fact that they reversed this change means engineers are “useless in pve” as some people eloquently put it. genius!

I can’t find any ascended accessories with the new stat combos. How do I get them? And if they’re not out, will they be in the future?

you have living world, fractals, wvwvw, crafting, dungeons, and exploration. if you’ve done all of those then sit in lion’s arch and talk to people until the next living world update.

I prefer valk over zerk armor because rhs. 10k hp isn’t my thing

i imagine they will finish introducing the maps of tyria before they add in cantha. though the lore doesn’t make sense because if cantha is isolated because of zhaitan, and zhaitan has been dead for a year and we also have airships, then ?????

After tearing down all the separatist propaganda posters for the achievement, i am no longer able to tear them down on a different character who hasn’t completed the heart, extending the duration of the time needed to complete the heart.

today was the first time i went down to cursed shore to farm. i had a good time.

put 10 points into tools

they will never make vampiric a viable form of sustain because it’s a minor trait.
i’m currently running this build for lifestealing and i enjoy it. it’s no meta power build but just about anything will work in pve.

you can swap ogre runes for 2 hoelbrak/monk/water if you prefer. elixir x and supply drop are interchangeable. you can swap out some berserker pieces for knights if you want more survivability.

my personal opinion is that sd sacrifices too much survivability for not enough damage gains in a pvp scenario

you can always go rifle hgh power grenades. same build 30/0/0/30/10 with elixir x. experiment with a mix of knights/zerk until you find the amount of survivability you’re comfortable with.

cleansing formula 409 gives 6 removal skills if you run 2 elixirs + heal elixir.

bomb kit is good for the lower levels. you can use bomb 4 + rocket boots to escape with stealth if you ever get overrun. similarly any blast finisher inside bomb 4 will grant you stealth. you’ll want to trait explosives if you go that route.

elixir x is only good with full zerker armor. rampage can hit pretty hard. you don’t want to pop it immediately, only when she gets lower on life and more tornadoes start to appear.

this is what i used to beat pretty much everything in one try except deadeye and liadri. i swapped out elixir b for elixir r for liadri. you could swap out b for r for this fight too if you’re having trouble.

i also took out the 10 in firearms and put them into tools for permanent swiftness for liadri

lol projectile reflect is the most overpowered concept in pve. please don’t whine about it. almost every dungeon group will want a guardian or a mesmer in their party because it trivializes any projectile encounter.

i have to say ranger and guardian are the most boring to me
i just grow tired of keeping a pet with terrible ai alive and my only source of damage is my shortbow auto attack.
guardian because i just don’t like the class and how it plays.

i enjoy my s/d ele, hgh engi, and bow warrior. those i find most fun.

burst her down fast or stack a bunch of conditions and run from the tornadoes.
