Don’t get me wrong, venomshare works. It’s just that it is situational and something I would not want to change my entire build for.
As theorycrafter, is there no venomshare thinkable that could work – with changing traits but not the distribution – with P/D? They both focus on conditions, venomshare requires 30 SA, but so does P/D. The compromise would be around how deep you want to go into Deadly Arts vs Trickery/Acrobatics.
Why is P/D gimmicky?
The need for continuous re-stealths, mostly. I have no problem with the build at all, but it rests on sort of a Jenga tower because of the Sneak Attack thing.
But Backstab requires being in stealth as much as Sneak Attack does?
(edited by frans.8092)
Why is P/D gimmicky? Because no other weaponset is any good with conditions?
at first, I thought wow! Such anger, but then I saw it was burnfall then I lol’d
Look at his signature, it speaks volumes.
Actually a very good sig then, if you think about it.
Most of the condi thieves I’ve encountered don’t run perplexity so they really dont have much other than the bleeds themselves and some mild torment stacks.
Poison and weakness are fairly easy to add into the mix, as well as blind and cripple.
SR maybe, might last long enough to for stealth-attack-revealed-stealth-attack. Smoke Screen should easily last long enough to do this.
Unless they’re forced to sit in a small area, it explains the video with the thief running SoM on a smokescreen-stealth-poison-caltrops build dotting a small group to death. Lot of fun watching that one.
It is not the condition ticks, but the field pulses that trigger Signet of Malice and heal you. Works really nice with caltrops, just got more then 8k healing out of it with only the 300 Healing from Shadow Arts

This is why thief class is getting nerfed patch after patch:
junky threads.just meh
Thief get spammable range root last patch.
Thief get increase init regen this patch with increase slightly init skill usage (back to square one)
Nerf? ya right.
The pattern for the last 10 years has been that such buffs get rolled back or nerfed to a state worse then the original situation. Within 2 months init regen will be bacl at .7, or less.
Why? Because Anet seems like count dead accounts too.
There are no dead accounts. All accounts can become active at any time, and a part of the inactive accounts do become active again, daily. They have to keep the ‘headroom’ to accommodate players returning to the game after months of inactivity. They have to keep even more headroom for a surge of players returning during holidays and vacations.
They do count dead accounts… a dead account is a player who isnt coming back to the game
or takes a large break, i know there are alot of them since ive kicked 100 players a month from my guild for inactivity for a long time now …
… which can come alive at any time and thus can not be ignored when estimating potential server load. If you do not take them into account you will run into problems with servers not able to handle the load.
The karma merchants at the temples in Orr have several PVT pieces, for karma and the armor merchants in Wvw sell it for a very low price + badges of honor as Invaders.
I’ve gotten quite a few crystals (the lvl 80 ones) from 100% completing zones. And with gold→gems they’re not that expensive, I think, if you have the gold for dungeons runs you can probably get the gems for the crystals. Question is which option is the least expensive.
But a 1 second pulse would miss the .1 sec window of opportunity 9 time out of 10 anyway. Maybe the people who manage to get lots of hits there know what works, or maybe everyone is as lucky as you.
Just throwing this out there. Considering I’d think that the players who primarily transfer are WvW’ers, why not use the primary WvW commodity to do so, the one we have an abundance of?
Every gem used is income for Anet (even if you buy them on the TP).
Chaos … I am thinking a lot of people get few mobs tagged. Anyway if none of our aoe options work, cluster bomb, caltrops, tripwire etc… I would move on to another champ train.
Being in a party might help, I think you get loot from everything your entire party tags.
(edited by frans.8092)
It’s for condition builds.
Why don’t you get some Karma Armor, or exotics from the TP with the desired stats and then transmute them as was suggested. That is assuming you want to keep the current looks.
Your welcome.
Challenge is fun though.
They all have red tags, don’t they?

Award transferring to a low-ranked or low population server?
Id like to transfer to a lower ranked server, but none of them ever say low pop. So Im stuck in Tier 1 not playing WvW.
But do you want to play Wvw? Why do you want to transfer?
Since always?
Shadow’s Embrace Revision as of 02:33, 22 February 2012
they die in .1 seconds. SB using cluster bomb is 1 sec minimum. math…no bueno. 0_o
Well, timing it properly would theoretically be able to land it just in time, but that might be practically unreliable.
Tripwire and needle trap do some damage when triggered, are they of use for your ability to tag foes?
Is it an option to find smaller scaled group events?
Ok, that’s not what I’d call ‘’easily upkeep’’
You missed the point.. its not how to- it’s how can someone be considered one or the other when the modes are entwined with a large majority of the WvW playerbase
You don’t have to put the player into on or the other (PVE/WVW) , you only need to know how much time they contribute, or server load they take up.
But with just +45% boon duration from acrobatics and traveler runes you will not get 100% vigor up, you need at least 20 in trickery for Bountifull Theft, and possibly 30 to get Steal cooldown down
There in lies your main issue.. how do you determine a player is a WvW’er or a PvE..
Look at the time they’ve spend in each, and in total, and compare that to general statistics for players with a similar use pattern.
Just add a 2 sec stealth at the end… Done and done, good enuf time to recover and not getting insta gibbed
^this.
That’d give you time to adjust.
Fortunately I’ve been running 10/0/0/30/30 for quite some time and have always carried both traits.
+ runes to get to the +45% boon duration.
And you call that an easy upleep of vigor?
Perma-Vigor is a thing, contrary to what you said, …
It’s hardly an easy thing, which is what he said.
There’s no perma vigor for thieves
If only there was a way to slash your Mug cooldown and further increase boon duration… nah, not possible – right?
Your saying using up 60 trait points and blowing heal and steal on cooldown to maximise Vigor uptime is a good strategy?
Are there any non-qq threads from non-thieves here?
I think I found an HS-spammer.
Oh my, we have a real Sherlock here, they have opinion Y, so they must be X.
But here’s the thing with Heart-Seeker. It is really the only skill in the D/D line that does a decent amount of damage.
By the time HS does decent damage there’s no reason to spam it. As a Sherlock you should have known that. Oh, wait …
The OP’s just asking for a nerf, not for advice on how to improve their skill.
Are there any non-qq threads from non-thieves here?
With Vigorous Renewal and Bountiful theft with 30% boom duration you can still easily upkeep 100% vigor duration.
Vigorous Renewal? Are you playing the same game? Maybe you should try playing a thief before commenting here.
There’s no perma vigor for thieves, 30 points in Acrobatics, 20 points in Trickery plus two traits and wasting your heals and steals for 75% vigor uptime do not fit with ‘easily upkeep 100% vigor’.
Because most of our elites are meh, I’d rather stick another utility skill in that slot, so if BV is an utility skill, you’d be slotting a utility skill in an elite slot, that’s a good thing
… is just an utility skill in a elite one space. …
Actually, that is a good thing, considering it’s competitors. It even has a utility skill cooldown.
Worse, when they are using a long channelled skill they will track your heading even when you stealth up.
What if they made npc’s follow a defending player’s lead, ie, attack whoever is being attacked by (a) the defending player, or maybe attack a target they called. That would help defending camps and caravans and make it more interesting to do.
Players can defend camps and dolyaks, we’re not all interested in sitting around and waiting for a zerg to join, let solo-roamers and small groups have their share of the action without being forced to run with zergs.
Bad idea, it’s easier, or more likely, for a large group to have some, or many, players who are out of combat.
If this is such a problem they easiest solution is to further reduce the maximum number of people rezzing a defeated player.
Now while roaming in WvW, I have found myself coming up against two broad categories of opponents. Opponents who are fun to fight and those who use extremely broken mechanics to great effect. There are several builds that exist that, IMO, are just not fun to fight.
You are saying that (a) anything that isn’t fun for you to fight is broken and that (b) essentially everyone should run builds that you find fun to fight.
Don’t you think that is a bit selfish?
Are you saying you don’t need Infusion of Shadow for DD builds now if you chain CnD? If initiative regen is that big, then I’d love to swap in condition cleanse.
You can’t chain C&D only with base regen, 1 init/sec, 6 init for C&D == 6 seconds to restore.
On the shortbow power / crit is more effective.
Nearly all weapons work well on a power/crit build, only P/D is more effective with a condition oriented build.

Your original post appears mixed with attitude and/or complaints. You can make a statement (or ask a question) without such.
Key word “appears” and “appears” is a very subjective term. …
Appears is not a subjective term at all.
He is right, it’s the tone of your post, the words you choose and the opinion expressed through them – and now you are hiding behind wordplay.
Dire for Condition, obviously berserker is not going to help a condition build. Soldiers is the most generally usefull, I think. But you can always transmute the skin if you want to switch, a crystal is 40 gems, which is 3 gold, max, likely cheaper then the mats alone.
Speaking about reading, ….
You did say cheesy, your memory is failing you?
And apparently he is right, when you call P/D cheesy, everything played effective by a thief effective is cheesy in your view.
… to play. What is wrong with your servers?
In other MMO’s permastealth builds exist apparently. Don’t claim ‘other mmo’s’ without investigating them.
must be a crappy mmo you are playing, and if you read my post carefully you will see that i am talking about something else
80% of your post is about ‘… other mmo’s …’ and when your first ‘… other mmo’s …’ statement clearly shows that your knowledge of ’ … other mmo’s …’ is actually based on a small subset of ‘… other mmo’s …’ then the rest of you ‘… other mmo’s …’ post can safely be disregarded.
You’re comparing a small part – stealth – of the entire balance between classes, across mmo’s, disregarding other aspects of balance, as a previous poster shows in great detail.
The 33% is in reference to out-of-combat running speed, in combat the cap is still at 1,33 of out-of-combat running speed, but relative to in-combat running speed there is a lot more room then 50%. See: Movement speed
That doesn’t mean it actually give 50% IMS in combat … It doesn’t.
(edited by frans.8092)
thief is a design flaw from start.
in other mmo stealth has downsides …
