Alright, here goes.
1)It’s not that mesmer got easier to play in my opinion, its just not necessary to be that skilled anymore.
Now mesmers can properly fight other classes & players with the same skill lvl.
I think that’s a good thing.
2) I think most of them are pretty awesome. Deceptive Evasion, Imagined Burden, Mental Anguish,…
I do feel a lack of damaging phantasm GM traits though. As someone who loves phantasm builds I keep feeling like we’re being pushed to shatter our phantasms.
I also feel like the way Harmonious Mantras works is counterproductive in a way. I like mantras to help out allies, give stability, cleanse condis,… I don’t want to spam (waste their effects) to get a damage increase.
3) I think this trait is fine the way it is. I feel like other shatter builds without PU are just as strong.
4) I haven’t tried it out yet. But it does seem interesting & I do want to try it out at some point.
5) I personally don’t but I believe these trait lines can be useful. I want to try out an interrupt based build with chaos though.
6) I’m loving these.
7) I think Mimic is a lot more useful now. I use it quite a lot (mostly for PvE)
8) I love the slow on Time Warp. I think the elite itself is strong & worth I like taking it (PvE ofc but also in PvP. It’s great for teamfights.)
I like the concept of the trait but I don’t think its good enough to make it worth.
9) More skillful than fights against other classes at least.
Other things devs should know…
People want Confusing combatants. Especially now MtD got nerfed. It would make condition builds more viable (in both PvP & PvE) Conditions in PvE (at least for mesmer, idk for other classes) still aren’t strong enough to make people use conditions in PvE over power based builds.
I don’t feel like it would be OP in PvP at all, would just open up more build diversity in my opinion.
Make Time Warp’s cooldown reduce if traited & double Feel My Wrath’s cooldown.
Fixed.
I feel like Time Warp has a stronger effect. longer initial quickness & the slow is strong too in teamfights. So I think it deserves to have a slightly longer cd than Feel My Wrath… but right now its just too insane.
I just dislike shatters because its not my playstyle.
I love mesmer for the deceiving illusionist mage. I love confusion & torment & I love relying on clones & phantasms.
I don’t like being just another nuke mage by shattering those clones & phantasms al lthe time.
I liked the MtD shatter in a way coz it also relied on confusion & torment, which I like.
Too bad shatter is the only viable build in PvP.
I agree. This trait would be great, especially after the MtD patch. Would be nice for condi builds in both PvE & PvP.
Please anet, we beg you. ;-;
This looked like such a good trait that would promote condi builds even more. It was such an interesting trait as well.
Now they replaced it with a boring borderline useless trait that promotes power/crit builds which this game really doesn’t need.
I really don’t see the point in this.
To be honest MtD did feel kind of op.
My problem with this though is, why did mesmers get nerfed? Engineers are much worse than MtD and they didn’t get a nerf?
Anet seems to a lot more harsh towards mesmers compared to any other class in my opinion.
Waitt how does his work? Does it only work in combat?
I tried it multiple times and nothing happens. Even though it seems to randomly happen sometimes when in combat.
This could be really useful to keep up the mantra damage trait.
Even though I agree with you i don’t think anything will ever change to the point where you can confuse a good player into thinking that you’re a clone.
It could happen, but I don’t think anet would ever do this.
Do you think it will change a lot? Or will phantasm mesmer still be the best.
I hope it changes so that condi shatter builds actually become viable in PvE.
Its one of the problems Mesmers have in general. Clones & Phantasms get wiped out by anything that has tons of aoes. & the mesmer needs to be lucky that his clones & phantasms don’t get caught in all of the AoEs.
Phantasm builds WILL get stronger with this. But Shatter builds (especially condi shatter) seem to be getting the biggest buffs out of this.
This is why I can’t wait for HoT. Need that 25% Mov speed & CC duration decrease.
Yup. I already love MtD more than power shatter. (coz I love confusion & torment and kitten those thieves who think ur easy to kill & then kill themselves with torment & confusion.)
But these changes really seem to buff condi and especially MtD mesmers quite a lot.
HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

It’s not that I think the current price is too high. It’s just kind of unfair to those who already own the game (especially if you only recently bought the game.)
I think a 20 euro off (or even 20%) on the expansion for those who already own the game would be more fair.
I think it works fine the way it works now.
But It does get really annoying when you see just about anyone running away from your shatters making them wasted.
Then again, mesmers have always had a hard time killing people who don’t want to fight you (I guess lockdown mesmers are a bit better at this.) coz they have pretty much no way to catch up to runners or no way to keep the enemy within your range. Pretty much every class can get run away from mesmers & shatters..
There are already enough ways to escape shatters. (skills that block multiple hits, aoe to kill clones before they explode, dodging.) And if that’s not enough, it’s really easy to see them coming.
That’s also why i’m really hyped for the Time Catches Up trait Chronomancers will get. (I hope the super speed duration will be long enough to actually matter.)
Not sure what I feel about this.
I kinda like the dot effect it gets. (Now it’s a condition comparable to torment.)
But I don’t like the reduced damage on skill use. Confusion already is harder to apply than torment in PvP (and shorter duration)
What they did is make it a tiny bit less useless in PvE while making it worse for Anything else.
Keep the original confusion damage. Just add the dot effect. Don’t worry it won’t break the game like this. lol
As a Mesmer main i’ve always loved the confusion condition. And I really want condition to be viable for mesmer in PvP & WvW. (missing the good old glamour builds.)
I just don’t think this change will make confusion any better.
MtD Condi Shatter.
D/D Eles, most guards (especially medi guards)
Things with tons of condi cleanses pretty much.
I used to play a Phantasm build, then swapped to a PU build. Even though those builds are good in 1v1 fights, they’re not that good for teamfights. So I tried the standard shatter build so i could be more useful to my team.
But it got rather annoying when there are 2 thieves in every game just spamming away at you and there’s pretty much nothing u can do against it.
Sure in more organized teams you can have others peeling for you. Which is why i assume the shatter build is better for high rated games.
Then again I hate relying on my team too much. So I tried diffirent builds. Pretty much every other mesmer build beats thieves easily.
Right now i’m trying a MtD build and that one seems to be great so far.
You’re still great for your team because of aoe confusion & torment damage. (less burst but more annoying for the enemy team either forcing them to blow their cleanse or watch them slowly kill themselves.)
But you’ll be able to defend yourself against thieves as well with more stealth & another (deadly) block.
Yeah I agree. Mesmer has a bit of slow but depends on their traits.
When i heard about the taunt and read mesmer would get shield I instantly hoped Mesmer would get Taunt. We’ll see.
Yeah
Could give the shield #4 skill that spawns a phantasm have its skill being a shield smash that taunts the enemy (making it attack the phantasm. Which also keeps the enemy from hitting you.)
Sure it’s not a stun. But for condition builds in PvP it might be great.
Either way, i’m loving everything we saw of the Chronomancer so far.
Anyone else really hoped to see Taunt on Chronomancer shield skills?
That would be the only thing that could make me even more hyped for Chronomancer.
Imagine putting confusion on the enemy & then forcing them to attack you or your clone.
In my opinion Chronomancer looks a lot more interesting than Dragon Hunter.
But then again. I love Mesmer a lot more than Guardian already.
We’ll see when we can acttually play them both.
Personally i’m still mostly hyped for Chronomancer but also looking forward for engi & ele specializations.
I’m loving everything i’ve seen so far & i’m excited and all but I do agree that there should have been more.
At least 1 new dungeon with story mode & 3 explorable paths would have been really nice.
And yes build templates would have been really nice.
I also kinda hoped there would be at least 2 class specializations for every class (to have more build diversity or class customization.
The only thing that bothers me about engi compared to other classes is PvE.
Engi dps rotations are harder than any other class i’ve played and they’re still not as effective than other classes.
I think if a class has a higher skill cap they should at least be able to keep up with other classes if u know how to play them.
PvP & WvW wise, Engi is great. They just need more of a buff in PvE imo.
Thanks guys. I guess most of it comes down to personal preference.
I do agree that thief probably is the best & easiest class to roam with but I just don’t enjoy thief at all. Same with ranger. Just not my type of class.
I think i’m going to stick with engi for roaming. A lot of versatility & more out of combat mobility than mesmer making it easier to survive and/or escape outnumbered fights & zergs I guess.
WvW is the one thing i haven’t done much in gw2, mainly because zerging isn’t my kind of thing, also because it requires a diffirent build you actually have to spend money on unlike in pvp & i haven’t really wanted to spend money for that until now.
Zerging still isn’t my kind of thing so I would prefer to roam around.
Now i’m wondering what the better classes are to roam with.
I mostly play guardian, ele, engi & mesmer but i’d prefer to stick with engi or mesmer for roaming.
Can someone tell me what the better roaming classes are?
I must be missing something… Is there some rune or trait that can make ele immune to burning & burning alone?
Could be
Diamond Skin (immune to all condis when above 90% health)
or
Stone Heart (immune to crits when attuned to earth)
Sorry for late reply.
And no we’ve checked & my friend is not using any of these traits. Neither is she using any rune or sigil that would prevent her from being burned.
I can burn her with other classes & I can also burn her with any other type of burn like flamethrower burn.
I’ve also been able to burn other elementalists no problem who also use D/D and probably have very similar builds.
Either I’m missing something very simple or there is a weird kind of bug going on here.
As someone who has been playing mainly PvE since headstart (and a bit of PvP & WvW) I would LOVE dueling.
I just don’t see why not. For people who don’t like to duel or who don’t want to decline lots of duel requests, simply make an option in the game settings to “refuse” duel requests so other players can’t send them duel requests & gives them a message saying something like “you can’t challenge Player X to a duel.”
It would be great to be able to duel someone anywhere in the game. (except wvw)
I understand people might not want to see people flashing all of their skills in cities or maybe an event triggers in other maps interrupting the duels but it would be nice if someone accepts the duel both players get teleported into a duel arena & in the actual map a flag would appear telling who duels who & other players can click it to be able to spectate them.
Also would be nice if players would be able to change their PvP builds through the PvP button while in PvE so people can check or change their PvP builds before duelling.
Also for ppl saying it will make ppl have a negative attitude, those with a positive attitude in tPvP will have a nice attitude in duels as well. Those who have a negative attitude in tPvP will have a negative attitude in duels as well. Nothing’s gonna be diffirent.
I think dueling should have a pretty high priority depending on what other stuff Anet is working on.
At the very least it should at least have a higher priority than the living story. Sure the living story is fun to some extent but after 30 minutes-1h ur done with it unless you’re really into the achievements & want to get all the rewards. (Personally I find that too boring.)
I would be one of those people who would just go around & duel a random person or spend hours duelling friends testing & tweaking builds
Sure it might not be balanced & would purely be just for fun. I have more fun 1v1ing friends in empty hotjoin arenas (unless we’re getting interrupted by random people every 5 minutes) than i have fun doing anything else in the game.
Haha xD
That’s not the case tho. I actually checked the combat log to see if they’re crits or not.
I’m also using Sigil of Intelligence so the first 1 hits are crits. No burns at all though.
Edit:
We’ve done more testing. It works perfectly against the golems & npc’s in the heart of the mists. It works fine against other players & eles as well.
I must be missing something… Is there some rune or trait that can make ele immune to burning & burning alone?
(edited by glenndevis.8327)
Yeah I know this. I did have it equipped & I’ve tested it against a friend 1v1 and I don’t seem to get the burning.
My friend is an ele & thought maybe she was using the diamond skin trait but apparently she wasn’t, also, all the other conditions seem to apply properly.
Edit: Just putting it here.
It worked just fine 2 days ago. Now no burning at all.
(edited by glenndevis.8327)
Is this trait bugged or am I doing something wrong?
I’m new at engi in PvP and looked up thise celestial rifle engi build and everything seemed to work alright until today.
I went into pvp with a friend but soon realized my crits weren’t burning at all anymore.
I didn’t change anything about my build, neither i could find anything that would prevent my target from being burned.
Anyone else knows if this is a bug or if its something i’m missing about this trait?
It’s silly how shield is the most useless weapon on a guardian lol.
I’d like it if shield would actually give guardian better support for allies
Nr 4 is more or less useless. up the protection time to 10 sec & give it a knockback effect would make it more useful.
Nr 5 should stay up when moving & block anything that comes through so it becomes a viable protection for allies. (which is what the skill is supposed to do.)
These changes would make it at least better support wise.
Yeah make the Mesmer able to choose where to teleport to.
I hate it when i’m downed in an aoe and then use #2 to teleport right into another aoe.
What are Mesmers running in WvW for zergs at the moment?
I haven’t really played much lately and was wondering what the best builds are right now for mesmers in zergs since the last patch.
I think most of the new traits are useful in certain builds except Elemental Contingency. That trait just lookse useless.
I started playing my ele in WvW a lot lately And i’m really loving Aquatic Benevolence… The thing is, Cleansing water is really good as well which makes it hard to decide. I guess it comes down to if ur raid already has a lot of condi clear or not.
I feel like i’m the only one who really loves this trait. The only downside to it is that it doesn’t affect yourself.
I’d rank them like this (seen from a WvW perspective)
1. Aquatic Benevolence
2/3 Blinding Ashes / Lightning rod.
4. Stone Heart.
5. Elemental Contingency.
I’m not just asking to give me a build because I pretty much have my build already.
But i’m rather new to Ele and i’m more interested in what other eles use in wvw.
Do you guys use the new aquatic benevolence trait? Do you use celestial, healing power, pvt or a mix of stats?
70% of the people I see in game seem to greatly dislike it, 20% doesn’t care and 10% actually likes it.
I do see the positive side of these megaservers. More people in other cities, maps, lower lvl events… But then a gain, this could be fixed in a much easier way.
As much as I love the living story (actually giving players stuff to do. Just needs some better & more interesting rewards in my opinion.)
An expansion would be great: New events, new maps, new (or returning?) classes, new races, new weapons, new set skills (not just traits), increased lvl cap, new PvP game modes (1v1 duels, Free for all), …
Would all be great in my opinion.
I haven’t read this whole topic but I have just 1 thing to say about these megaservers…
ArenaNet please… REVERT THIS.
There’s absolutely no point of these megaservers cough overflows *cough & it “only” ruined every PvE except dungeons.
Sure it might be nice to see people everywhere but I don’t mind not seeing a lot of people in maps. It doesn’t mean the game is dead at all because most players just don’t go there (they’re either in cities, dungeons, wvw, pvp, doing world bosses) because there’s no reason to go there after they completed the map.
Give players a reason to go back to maps/do (group) events and we’d see a lot more people everywhere.
I also like the idea but would be hard to pull off.
It would make the real mesmer harder to spot and make the mesmers playstyle more about deceiving.
If anet would ever rework mesmers (which they should coz mesmers are a pile of bugged crap right now) this idea should be implemented as well.
I kinda like the idea oh the strength runes + sigil of battle/strength
I also like Scholar runes but my problem would be having low crit chance.
With ruby orbs without any food or buff i have base 54% crit chance. with food it’s 64% wich means my phantasms have 84% with fury.
I think without the precision from the ruby orbs my crit would only be around 44%, 54% with food making my phantasms only have 74% crit chance… Which I find kinda lacking.
Is it still worth to go for strength/scholar runes and is 74% still a good crit chance or should I go for something that gives prec?
So which Runes/sigils do you guys use or prefer?
I really like my sigils of battle. I just think I want to replace the energy ones. But not sure what to use.
And what’s the best runes? I feel like the ruby orbs are lacking now. And I don’t really care about movement speed in pve at all.
I’m using a 2/4/0/5/3 zerker phantasm build in PvE but i’m not sure what sigils/runes actually affect our phantasms.
I used ruby orbs in the past and sigil of battle/energy in the past but now I wanna know for sure which ones work on our phantasms so I can increase my damage.
What sigils & runes actually affect our phantasms?
I guess ppl will no longer try to run away from mesmers anymore I guess. Dat torment.
I should try that trait.
Mesmer is my fav class and in my opinion a lot of fun to play.
I just don’t like playing mesmer in zergs in wvw coz i feel useless damage wise.
Wish mesmers had a bit more damage in PvE as well (our dps sucks compared to most other classes.) and speed coz in wvw nearly any other class can run away from us or just ignore us.
If these disadvantages would make it boring for you. Then no don’t lvl ur mesmer.
I love mesmer too and all but I like it the way it is.
I just wish Confusion would be a stronger aspect of the class in WvW and PvE coz it’s really underpowered right now. Even in PvP It’s not great anymore.
Mesmer’s damage in PvE in general isn’t the best either.
And I know this is wishful thinking but I wish my clones & phantasms would stay around me even when out of combat, until destroyed or shattered. More like a Necro’s minions. (Or like a Ritualist’s spirits in GW1 with a duration but then they should follow you.)
It would be kitten running around with 3 clones of myself. puts on sunglasses OH YEAHH.
Anyway, I think mesmer as a class is fine. They’re not underpowered or overpowered. They got their weaknesses and their strengths.
Anet should make confusion useful in PvE. I love the confusion condition but in PvE it’s just worthless.
And no, even a 100% confusion damage or duration increase in PvE won’t make it more useful.
Zodiac Armor skins light/medium/heavy
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: glenndevis.8327
Am I the only one who thinks the Zodiac medium skin looks like light and light looks like heavy?
I’ve noticed this with a few other armor skins as well but it’s the first time it really bothers me.
It would also be nice if we could dye the blue part of the armor. hehe
Just wanted to know what the current meta is for Mesmers in PvE (dungeons/fractals) to improve the build I have right now.
Right now I’m using full zerker with ruby orbs. sword/focus + GS
10/20/0/25/15
Using Signet of the Aether, decoy, feedback, null field, timewarp.
Not really sure what to use for sigils but i use the +5% crit chance ones & sigil of energy on sword.
So what’s the current meta for Mesmers in PvE?
I wanna know what other phantasm mesmers use right now and why you prefer that one heal.
I’ve been using the new Ether Signet lately and I really like it.
The passive heal is awesome but I don’t really use the active heal much. The burst damage isn’t always worth sacrificing your inability to heal for 35 seconds.
I’m using 10/20/0/25/15 now and with IC it’s even easier to keep 3 illusions up now.
The thing I like the most is that you need to use it in a smart way. In my opinion it’s the best heal if used properly, but the worst heal if used wrong.
The only thing I miss is shorter cd of Ether Feast for Mender’s Purity but in PvE conditions usually aren’t that bad.
What heals do you phantasm mesmers use now?
