Congratz, you brought up something that probably not a lot of people have notice and and is actually is a big issue, with such big hit boxes is no wonder turrets are so susceptible to AoE. reducing it might infact help a little with their survival on both PvE/WvW.

And Great video, you showed both weakness as well as the lack of damage turrets currently face, if that’s what it took to take down a normal mob, how does that translate to veterans, champions or bosses? Hopefully a developer will take notice of this post

There would be a huge imbalance tho, warriors #1 at max attack ( no might) deals 800-900 crits. and that’s with lots of +% dmg.. if we had the same skill, power builds would be dealing around 600 dmg. leaving us rifle users with no chance of killing anything that runs.

The auto attack might be plain, but its one of the strongest hitting auto-attack on ranged weapons, which also happens to pierce by default.

If you roll warrior for this reason, I will assure you. you will rarely us the rifle, the animations look cooler, but you will notice your lack of DPS when ur dealing 900 single target dmg compared to the 3k+ AoE from GS auto attack. specially since volley and killshot are the only source of real dmg as well, as the only 2 skills you will be using before switching back to gs

Altho glassy, each flanking strike does a total of around 12k+ damge to light/med and around 9k to bunker guardians. The beauty of the build is that you can macro #3 as auto attack and not have to press any other skill, you get 5 consecutive flanking strikes before you run out initiative.

Personally, i have little to no trouble with dealing with most classes, even meta trappers/BM, shatter mesmer, etc , the hardest enemy to fight would be another thief because of stealth and burst. its usually a 50/50 chance and a quick fights in most cases… on the other hand, Eles drop like flies

I like Enduring Damage (10% dmg when endurance is full). before i had the extra 5 points on Hidden Flask but since it became a suicide skill.. i had to make changes.

Overall, would you keep running it in PvP? Or is it still below the value of other traits?

Yea, I’m going to continue running it, but i would never choose it over speedy kits/static discharge. even tho Magnetic Aura is nice, even with timer it doesn’t take away from the feeling that you just got really lucky if it actually does something useful. I just wish anet would tone down the volume on that stupid sound animation -_-

To answer your question.

Stealth will not break any actions, if you start leap(heartseek) on smoke fiend and steal (900-1200 range), HeartSeek will 100% hit your target, stealth you and then u can just backstab.

I used to think it took skill but this is just one of those things that are soooooo simple. that people overlook them, probably the easiest burst in gw, it would take more work to set up a macro, than to do this yourself lol

it’s really glassy for warriors standars, but then again i only use it to troll on PvP, highest crit so far 19.8k on a ranger. R.I.P
should go higher now with boon hate and if you find someone glassy enough

“Open-sourcing” is the only way so it won’t be build wars.

It will be good for new players who have little experience with building. They can learn from the pros, get the right builds and improve and be at par with the top players in no time. that’s how you grow the community.

New players have access to ample builds and resources to assist in copying a viable build or making their own. One persons hard work, testing and understanding of the game mechanics should not be public information if they do not wish it to be. You should not be restricted in your game play or punished for using your brain to make your own builds.

If such person wishes to make the build public that is their CHOICE. Individuals should have a choice if they wish to give their work away to the masses without being restricted to playing in non-spectator mode games.

Theorycrafting is a skill, button mashing is a skill. ’’Pros’’ should be skilled at all aspects of the game, not just button mashing. Newer players can copy public domain theorycrafting and work on their button mashing skills until they want to work on their theorycrafting skills.

I agree, plus if you find a build through hours of testing & tweaking which can be consider strong, someone shouldn’t just be allowed to copy it and make it the new FOTM until it gets nerfed next month.

Not everyone runs the meta builds, and usually they tend inspire players to try new things and different builds. it feels good seeing players trying to duplicate your build because you know they are going through the same thing that you went through with all the test & tweak which is fun, and personally I don’t mind helping them. but i will never be like the build is exactly this this and that.. that just makes builds feel cheap

  • While you’re leveling I recommend you use Healing Turret, besides a heal, when you detonate, it will deal a considerable amount of dmg and will be one of you hardest hitting skills at lower levels.
  • Try gettin Grande/Bomb Kit for offensive, they hit hard as well as providing both straight & condi dmg.
  • For mobility, we have a trait called “Speedy kits” under tools, which allows us to keep perma swiftness.
  • Unlike guardian, Engineers can be fairly squishy so get used to dodging more often and being a mid-range fighter and not in their faces! use CCs in order to control mobs

Can’t think of anything else right now, but if you want to know about a specific situation or something, please post.

Things i found KR to be useful with new timer (med kit on PvP)

  • Stomping Engineer/Warriors.
  • Gap closer
  • Running away, mainly rangers/engineers

I also run FT or TK but their effect are barely noticeable and make little to no difference at all.

In PvE I always run 4 kits (Med/Granade/Bomb/EG), timer or no time. it’s impossible to choose the effect you want, and KR doesn’t bring enough to the table to even consider ditching the utility/dmg from other kits.

you should try D/D DB Spamming buid. you can cap camps in less than 60s by taking everything at once.

The concept behind the build is basically spamming DB for Bleeds while evading 80%+ of all attacks. you use x2 sets of daggers to trigger “Quick Pockets” and “Sigil of Geomancer”.

This build will allow you to cap camps under 60s. all you have to do is:

  1. Target Scouts First and fight around them (tank everything at once)
  2. Alternate; 1 DB>Dodge>DB >Dodge
  3. Don’t forget to swap weapons for Extra Bleeds/initiative.

As long as you do rotations right, Everything will die under 60s. if there are enemies there/coming you can still do it as long as it isn’t mesmers or condi spammers. anything else go mad! And as for mobility. with dodge + HS combo you get amazing mobility

yea, bro I didn’t mention WvW because i don’t WvW much so anything i would say would be more speculation of how it might affect more than anything, just mentioning my personal experience which i’m sure PvP/PvE players should feel something similar once they get some time hands on with the new changes.

and hahahahahaha ikr! people are going mad on those forums, specially ele! they just been spoiled so much that they don’t know how to handle a real nerf!! RoTL from 15c to 20s cd was nothing! now this is the real deal, and yet no where near KR treatment

Well ofc, they are different classes, different builds, different strengths and weakness.

Personally, i don’t play ranger alot, specially trapper but as somehing who’s fought them a lot i can mention some of the things i see see as their strong points.

  • Strong AoE condition pressure.
  • Lots of Evades and Strong regen.
  • Long Leash that allows the ranger to defend 1 point while the pet fights on another. one(They deal really good dmg too).
  • lots of single target CC on short CD.
  • Also, seem quickness on pet swamp allows for some quick and dirty resses too.
  • and have prob the best Self-Ress mechanic in game.

Eles were mobility/support, rangers are hard to catch and deadly :]. not hating on rangers or anything. i like the class and like to see that classes who were considered underpowered in the past are starting to shine, but now as the time of the post says! rangers will be FOTM and should expect alot of “kind” comments, specially from resentful ele’s xP

Engineers focus more around control than mobility, if you have tool kit on you. use #5 to pull them to you and then just CC the kitten out of them. Rifle is specially good for this.

Engineers are suffering from the We have nothing to complain about, so we try hard to find something to complain about syndrome.

IP: longer burns, no RGN 100%!!!! and unless you’re running a 1 condition build, it shouldnt be as easy to remove as people make it to be.

and for PvE, i just completed a frac 48.. Med kit is still my main but Healing turret + Elixir gun felt amazing on any fight where I wanted to support my team, even at 0 healing! soo good

Elixir S was the only nerf. but.. it isnt skill breaking. it still works and not nearly comparable to the grande nerf? how about smoke bomb or who can forget about KR :] we made it out winning this patch!

honestly, i loved this patch Asides from Elixir S. everything else was an actual balance or a buff :] we did not lose any builds and for the first time.. we actually got the opportunity to make new ones :]

and loving the new IP, very useful with build with low hit count as well is a great feeling to have 1 less RGN

Honestly, I’m in love with the new IP, its a matter of playing it. they balanced IMO in a decent way that did not completely destroyed the trait and made it accessible to more builds

if anyone has failed to see, HGH still exist, that’s a HUGE win considering what has happened to everyother build for the past 9 months,

that is true for some classes/builds but not for all, like IMO for example i found thief to be an extremely easy class to play even at tourney level as long as you run a decent build. for me at least, it has absolutely nothing to do with skill or how i fight, but rather when to attack. a burst at the right time will usually do the job without even having to engage on a real fight. this might change tho this patch and i hope so, i’ve seem some thief running the S/D build and it’s interesting, it was great mobility making it hard to catch while at the same time dealing heavy consistent dmg, making it an actual fight.

@Empathetic Fighter.2065 wep/skills don’t matter, they are easy to recognize, it’s more about traits/runes/sigils and you usually don’t see those.

but idk tbh i’ll be one of those people peeking at the builds, i’ve been trial and testing and still can’t find that 1 shot burst from that mesmer.. i’m really curious! it looked fun taking down bunkers and ele’s before they got up from veil hahah

If everyone had the same ability with words, we’d all be publish authors. but that’s not the case, so I guess we need a feature to peek into their brain, rather than come up with stuff on own.

For example: If there is D/D Ele why try anything else ? also, if anyone runs something different he will get called names :P. try to solo join with a staff, and see how warm and welcoming your teammates are..

But idk maybe i’m just tripping. if everyone runs the same thing, it will all come down to actual skill, which might end up being a good thing

@silvermember.8941 yes, i do know about the forums but not all top players share their builds on them, and when you fight them. you notice they are not using the same meta builds everyone uses on hot joint and such.

for PvE FT #5 is kinda of a waste. but for PvP/WvW where you need to stomp people, it comes very handy. you can always watch the enemy’s animations and blind them before they use their #2 down skill

Polishing: What i mean by this is, focusing on what’s already ingame instead of trying to add add add. making what’s already ingame will improve the game the gameplay experience, I’m pretty sure most players would agree that we would rather have balanced content in both difficulty as well as how you’re rewarded for it. why should we get the same loot from Champions as we do by killing an undead chicken ? Content should be made more challenging and, the we rewarded as such.

Suggestion:

  1. Dungeons should the fractal system where the dungeon will become gradually more challenging every time you run it, and the higher up the better the reward are, this would also opening the possibility of Elite Dungeon armor & skins as well as increase replayability
  2. There should be a chance to fail world events, instead of just standing on a safe spot and zerging down bosses in a matter of seconds. and the scale quiet doens’t prevent this, don’t just only multiply each mobs health depending how many people there are, also increase how aggressive they are, their speed. Don’t make them take much longer to kill but rather harder to kill by allowing them to actually kill players. on a meta event the player should interact with whats going on around them besides the boss itself. and not just spam some ice thingy or tentacle on the ground that will tickle you, but actually have mobs targets groups of people. force them to scatter and have to take down that monster if they wanna continue fighting boss.

Bug Fixes : Personally, i would appreciate it if every trait/rune/skill etc worked as intended.

Work whats already ingame to make it better, players won’t mind paying for more content through expansion! I assure Bugs fixes, polishing and class balance will be much more appreciated than a living story..

you’re right about both things, I didn’t think about that but the only problem i see, if a build becomes popular too quick, it will be harder to nerf because it would upset a larget player base as well as nerfs might happen alot more often.

idk, maybe i’m just traumatized by that mesmer hahaha, 1 shot everytime! even our bunkers and eles were getting slapped by him, at the same time haha

that’s not what i mean :P wouldnt want people running poor builds, thats not fun but sometimes you see someone running and amazing build, and usually they won’t share, so the only option is for you to try to make it yourself, and in the process play around, tweak if, modify it, sometimes you come up with the same build or even a different one as well as discover new skills/traits that you found useful but wouldn’t had given them a chance otherwise.

Wouldn’t spectator affect build diversity since a lot of people will simply chose to copy the builds of top tier players instead of making, tweaking their own ?

also, wouldn’t this unbalance things if everyone start using the strongest builds top tier players spent lots of hours crafting on their own. personally I’ve played with this high tier Mesmer who curtain pulls and somehow 1 shots people before they have a chance to get up. wouldn’t it be unbalancing if everyone started running that? it would be like the HGH, people were given easy acess to this strong build and now most players only run this build.

I know you can turn spectator off on custom arena, but how about on tourneys? or custom events held by players/guilds, where they would obviously grant access to spectators but might not want their team builds being leaked.

  • Flame thrower was given 10% more dmg if target is burning.
  • Kit Refinement is now gone
