How pessimist lol, burning is one of the strongest conditions, have acess to 4s (+ condi duration) on a 10s cool down seems pretty strong, specially since its on the tree related to condi duration, couple of bleeds, poison, burning + FEAR and it’ll be gg for most people.
maybe just for trolls, but power wells with almost 100% crit chance would see pretty strong to me on node fights. but yea… sniper necro would be nice! 4k Life Blast that pierce? free Lich Form :p ( but yea.. u have no ninja it from far and not be attacked, like a sniper)
but yea, we’ll just have to wait and see until update comes out to see if the changes are true. tbh i hope they are not necro burning + fear will be a little too much

They are too different. but on PvE nah, engineers will still be better
but for PvP, it will all depends on teams, Engineer can spam conditions much faster to more people, necromancers have the advantage to spread them, but on their own they are not a huge treat, normally they need another condi class on their team to be good
the only thing that will change if those patch notes are real, a condi engineer should never win a 1v1 against a decent necro (altho, that will prob be the case for everyone, exept phantasm mesmers or shatters)
Bombs are different from nades tho, even on the way they apply vul, fire, smoke and glue bomb have ticks overtime and they each apply vul per tick as well as trigger effects. just because Bombs stack vulnerability "slower"’doesn’t mean they are less viable, specially when only auto attack does good direct damage.
Maybe Anet will hold a tourney and give the champion a legendary and then they’ll defend the chance at keeping the legendary at the next tourney ? Epic competition boost I would say… and not particle spam since only 5 people could have them!

Duels mean nothing, specially when you go against the “duelist” class. asides from phantasm builds, other builds have different strengths/weaknesses which don’t always guarantee a win or that make every match different.
They seem believable, wouldn’t be surprised if they were right or at least really close. They lack the “crazy” factor fan made updates have, and seem fairly balanced, and it has Anet’s signature bias favoritism towards mesmers
because spike in this game is the use of 3 skills at most. Most often it’s as simple as a shatter or a backstab.
Actually a shatter combo has something like 5-6 chained weapon and utility skills+dodges…just saying…it’s really far from being a 1 key burst.
Most “good” mesmers macro this secret is out
Venom share could be viable or even condi thief, with Death Bloom’s reduced initiative cost and easy access to HGH might (20-25) stacks + 95% evade time feels like it could be strong
Mesmers won’t use this at all, they are getting too many good buffs to even care about this. Although 200 conditions dmg from scelper, some strong condi builds could come out that, yet nothing compared to shatter or the buffed phantasm mesmers

- DS 5: Torment over time(600 range) and at he end immobilize for 2s
- 50% Crit chance while on DS (GC Necros can hit 4k’s with auto attack)
- Wall of fear which last 9s+
- And a lot more..
the person 75% dmg of a bleed and 150% if they are moving, it’s stacks in intensity. so it works similar to bleeding.
sounds legit, I’m kinda disappointed tho, we got decent updates but necros…. I’m glad they got an update but every buff screams out, “skrew you engi”. A 9s+ wall of fear, our burning (4s on a 10s cd) and they got fear…
it will be impossible for engi’s to 1v1 necros now or anyone without stability or instant full condi removal.
the patch notes are out, we got a smooter jump shot and great cd reduction on gadgets, new traits are nice, specially for bunker
but…. necros are getting 4s burning on a 10s cd + FEAR!
I hope torment works on Evade skills such as flanking strike and ranger’s sword evades! they are technically moving!

torment vs immobilize will counter each other.
Thieves’ and Mesmers’ current builds will also get nerfed with the weakness buff. Thieves and Mesmers have pretty much been using zerker gear, so they’ll get hit hard with weakness.
Mesmer’s illusions are their own separate beings, thus they are not only able to be affected by boons/heals etc from allies, but also… weakness will have no effect on summoned phantasm unless you apply weakness directly at them.

The condition will stack on intensity, meaning it will be rather spammable with short duration. also its most likely going to do great dmg ( not quiet confussion dmg) but something that people will “notice” and make them think twice before moving.
and they didnt say anything about traits traits changes other than a GM for air ele to recharge atonement? not very exiting!

Death Shroud: Tainted Shackles. This skill will cause nearby enemies to be inflicted with conditions and controlled if they don’t take very quick action.

Engineers are physically weak, thats why we went from heavy to med armor, shoot rifles like whimps and get knock back by our own skills!
a 1-handed mace might make more sense, altho hammer would be cool, or why not both ?
depends what you mean by “better”, for team support and sustain, guardians are differently better. but… warriors are DPS kings, and thats their 1 and only role, to kill. with high mobility and monstrous DPS. and cc to throw around all they need is a little bit more sustain to truly become competitive and maybe OP..
Downed-state is the best feature in pvp togethe with dodging….
The only reason downed state is even in the game is so that people can still cry about not being healed by their team, and so that rangers can be invincible underwater.
the no healer is part of the reason, but its probably also for balance reason. imagine a gw2 without down state but with shatter mesmers, backstab thief, s/d thief ?
boring.. prob because the no heals, blocks, invuls, this make people feel vulnerable. and more so if they are used to fighting in stealth of behind a wall of clones.
but undeniably, this would be the most fun hotjoin map with the craziest fights, just the jump(engage/disengage) would put all classes on a more even field, and it would replace zergs with fights that can escalate too quickly! <3

necro’s actually the only class that can’t inflict burning. i mained an engi for the longest of times, and quite frankly i’m a little disappointed at the reaction of the eng community.
lol necro’s are the engineer’s natural competition/enemy. due to our lack of stability they can fear us around, flip back our conditions and destroy our mobility. their bleeds, poison chill + fear is pretty deadly but once they get burning too, its gg in most cases.
there are different issues with PVP, the 2 that stand out the most are
- It’s not rewarding enough. there is no intensive to do PvP, glory/tournament chest become more of a nuisance than a reward and Ranks don’t actually reflect a player’s skill level, but rather how much time they’ve spent on hot joins
- PvP is not-user friendly, Everything from changing traits to salvaging PvP rewards are time consuming and far from enjoyable, it feels more like a job than a game. Also.. PvP itself is not user friendly, new inexperienced players will be matched up against veterans, turning their their first PvP experienced into “that time I got killed over and over and couldn’t do anything about it”
The game mode doesn’t help, conquest as a lone game mode invites for alot of zerging on hot joins (first place where new players go), and this can become an annoying/frustrating experience for both sides. and misleading to what PvP really is.
Class balance can also be added to a bad user experience, currently the strongest classes/builds are the ones AI controlled or the ones custom made by Anet to fit into an specific order. an example of each would be:
AI controlled: Rangers. thier pets have too much damage, allowing the ranger to go completely bunker while the pets deal as much damage as other classes, the ranger itself have very little control other this pets limited to telling them who to attack or to use 1 skill (f2).
Custom made by Anet, these would be mainly the thief and mesmers. thief have no cooldowns but initiative, with a limited resource the common thinking would be to spend it all on the “best” skill which is what players do, with the popular S/D build, thief players spam 2 skills with occasionally auto attack making it shallow yet so effective since they can deal great dmg, evade and steal boons with nothing more than pressing 1 skill over and over.
Mesmer is a combination of the 2, both AI controlled and Custom made “seems” to be the identity of the class, their role is diminish to casting illusion, then the illusions will make sure on their own to follow the target, deal dmg and make sure they always have a clear line of sight, besides this strong AI controlled mechanic on a short cool down, their strongest weapons are custom made to work a certain way, the best example would be the sword; #2 roots the player to the ground, turns invulnerable and deals good dmg while #3 teleports the player to the enemy and immobilize them, and since they both have the same cool down. it would seem dumb to use these abilities in any other way. and with shatters having no cast time, it fits in perfectly with this pre-designed combo.

the invul gives you enough time to trow a dodge roll and then blink/decoy out :P
i havent tested it myself, but i’ve heard from numerous sources that having protection is the same as having 3k toughness, if this is true then the boon itself is very strong thus allowing people to have essay access and long duration wouldn’t be ideal. and while might duration can be lengthened by a lot, might stacking builds dont work well with pure power builds, its biggest shine is on codni builds such as HGH, but due to recent nerfs and boon of s/d builds, most people have stopped running these type of builds.

I think they will remain priority targets, even with a little more sustain, without stealth/teleports/invuls teams can just train them until they drop, and it doesn’t help they are 2 of the easiest classes to stomp. and if left alone both classes can be game changing during fights.
something that bugs me… i don’t understand why a class is allowed to have invul on a 10s cd(8s if traited) and a tele, immobalize, stun breaker on the same cool down. i mean other classes like thief and warriors can root and burst. But your team mates can defend you, or even you have a chance to fight back and dmg them back, not to mention their burst is on a much longer cooldown and is not AoE
why are other invuls have 60s+ cd but not this?
nah :P test it, blinding power actually blinds a lot more often than any other smoke field, its impossible to hit anything while on a thief’s blinding powder, thats what makes it such a great stomp, but you can easily interrupt while inside a smoke bomb or well of darkness. 2 blind powders in succession can shut down a 100b warrior ( which is really funny)
another sources of smokes fields are:
Flame turret – Engineer
Smoke Bomb(Bomb Kit) – Engineer
or even Well of Darkness – Necro
since you’re using blinding powder, you should be able to notice the difference in an instant if you decide to test it
Don’t try to look for any rhyme or reason in the cooldowns.
Ranger’s Hunter’s Shot: does damage + gives pet swiftness + puts 10 stack vulnerability for 8 seconds: 12 second cooldown
Warrior’s “On my Mark!”: Only does 10 Vulnerability 10 seconds: 30 second cooldown
10vul from ranger is different that 10vul from warrior, Ranger doesn’t really have any hard hitting skills, 10% more dmg on a bow which hits for 800-1.5k crits will not have as much of an impact on lets say a warrior who can drop 15k+ killshots, 15k+ 100B 10k eviscerate and auto attack does 2-3k on quick succession.

Blind is a hard subject tho.. the only blind that can actually shut down a warrior(anyone’s dmg) is a thief’s Blinding powder which smoke field blinds 2-3 per sec potentially shutting down most attacks. while any other smoke fields or blind overtime, will blind only once every 1s+
and while thief have access to the most powerful blinds, they are also “immune” to blind themselves because of the rapid nature of their attacks and also how stealth works, when was the last time you blinded a backstab? ill wait.. :P Heartseeker is the only attack is could be said to be stopped with blind(until the 2nd and 3rd one come in)

izerker is just about positioning, when you first cast it, it will spawn right next to the person, if they are standing still they will get hit a few times, if they run away from it, it will hit many times, if they run want towards it, it will hits once.. and if they are against a wall, it will do really high hits. damage varies a lot so its really different when people test it on golem than actually using it on real combat.

only because my bugged izerker hits people for up to 7k+ dmg on my phantasm build while i chat on facebook doesnt mean you’re not fighting me….
that would require a necro tho, which right now are not so popular, also the cast time makes it harder for strategic use.
Fear me is literally a skill which could decide team fights if used properly. So a long cool down makes sense, maybe 60s would be more reasonable, but i don’t think anet intended for this powerful skill to be used more than once during fights.

lol i run killshot warrior on hotjoin and tPvP for trolls, the secret is to never 1v1!! go to points where others are fighting, hide and snipe!! 58/75 tourney wins on killshot warrior so far! :P!
sadly enough, if you ninja it well… killshot will 1 shot most classes (specially ele as long as they don’t have protection on) and its an easy way to end team fights. Forest is the best map!

- B.O.B won’t be nerfed.. It would take too much work to “Fix” this considering this is only viable as a troll build for hotjoin or a cool trick for your friends (Try going this glassy on tPvP and watch their thiefs and mesmer bear hug you)
