Before we continue this thread, lets correct some common misconceptions:
Nobody is going to roll a spirit ranger and mop the floor with anyone more experienced than them unless they get really lucky. A skilled spirit ranger will do really well against anyone less skilled – as will a skilled player with any class.
Spirit rangers are completely worthless once their spirits are killed. Compared to every other class, they have no defense, no damage, no stun break, and little condition removal. The key is killing the spirits and not just rushing in on top of the ranger and spamming everything at once. I know people like to play that way, but it simply won’t work against anyone with any skill.
Who really cares if a class is easy to play anyway. That just makes it easier to attract more new players and gives less skilled players a little better chance to survive past 5 seconds. I’m starting to get the impression that most people in this game don’t have fun unless they can spec glass cannon, spam all their abilities and drop people in 5 seconds. Now that would really would be a messed up meta!
- but it is possible for a meh spirit rangers to be decent+ players on different professions after playing the build for 20 mins
- Yes you can kill them, but on team figts on node, your entire team will be hurting after spirits proc twice and they happen to get off guard, and then the ranger can just kite around on their 3k armor and perma protection and wait a few seconds until spirit are back up since they start recharge the moment they are casted…
- if you’re 1v1ing, unless you have strong AoE and decent heals, you will have taken a little too much damage, and used up alot of cool downs, before you’re ready to attempt to take the bunker down….
AND THIS IS WHATS HAPPENING DUE TO THE META…js
- lots of good/top players/teams are taking “breaks” due to the brainless condi/pet spam/meta
- The remaining players are stomping and face crushing any new comers on tPvP since no one really teamQ’s anymore, so its soooooooooo commmmoooon for a decent team to get match up with people who just started pvp’ing, and then those people get stepped on and dont come back to PvP
there is no problem with easy face roll builds, the problem is that thisbuild is poison and is quickly killing the game by promoting brainless play and forcing players to just spam AoE in order to deal with all the pets being thrown around… its not enjoy able to play, to play against or even watch since the game just became spam wars 2, spam pets, spam AoE and gg
comparing single target passive to party wide passive with powerful active effects isnt really fair.
and true, but why would you wanna kill it anyways. that 1 stacks of might is OP
But its a elite, also it can be stunned/pushed to interupt rez, warrior rez banner cant be stoped and is instant.
Wrong. Battle Standard has a 2 second cast time and can be interrupted just like anything else. It’s also REALLY obvious when they start casting because of the animation.
those 2 elites arent even comparable
Spirt:
- Heals 480 per second
- Point wide ress on a 30s cd
- Full party wide condi clear
- Procs ress/condi clear when it dies…
- Self ress
- Another pet, large health pool and high amounts of regen
Banner
- Affected by posion (if down player is low, he wont ress)
- Can’t Self ress
- Doesnt heal
- Doesn’t remove condi
Or terrible luck and get matched up with newb players against stacked teams! #DatMatchmaking
ladder on soloQ matters tho
you could be a great player, but if you happened to have back luck and drop low on the ladder. It’ll be incredibly hard to carry your way back up since you’ll be getting matched with new players and terrible players in general, most frustrating feeling ever when you see your teammates trying to hardress, helping you cap point and racing you to Chanel buffs, but at least they help rally enemies, that’s always nice of them
its not as simple as countering them.. the problem is way bigger
spirit rangers and necros are pushing condi meta over the top…
- people hate condi meta
- people hate fighting pets.. its not enjoyable to play against/watch
the meta is sooo terrible ever since these classes became fotm. most teams started “taking a break”, the PvP community has greatly died out and like myself i thought that this would change with the next big patch and that just had to endure the struggle until PAX was over…
But if they are really not gonna fix it… i doubt most people/teams would wanna come back and with school/college starting soon, gw2 pvp might just die out for a couple of months… until Anet starts making rational decisions

Teams are as random as getting temple
There is plenty of passive things in this game, But for some reason whenever a Ranger is doing it people are annoyed.
Because passively applying a 33% damage reduction and passivity applying the most damaging condition (next to high confusion stacks) is a bit much, when you are already dodging and stacking bleeding and poison and reneging health.
and lets nor forget passive cc form pets, and the fact that on top of the 33% damage reduction, most rangers are running shammans with around 3k armor
people are saying a dev mentioned during the ESL stream… just wanan confirm
and spirit rangers/necro push condi meta over the top, terrible meta leads people away.. and with school/college starting soon… pvp is in a horrible state, teams barely Q anymore and the community feels the smallest it has ever been…
so is it true… spirit rangers won’t be getting nerfed
an extra s sigil.. 1,029 + 250(bloodlust) :O! bamm! now pistol is more powerful than rifle ;p
non proven facts:
- Most engineers seem to run condi builds
- Power builds aren’t too popular because of how glassy they are!
- lots engineers hate rifle (self CC)
- 200 power will not make a difference on FT damage.. damage would still be sad and disappointing
just a guess, but it’s probably alot easier on both coding/balancing having all kits have the same default value, then having to check for weapon stats and such.

but also you don’t get rewarded since it holds no value whatsoever. its just there to say that you “got” something, even tho its gonna end up locked up on the bank and then forgotten about

you just had bad luck :p gold and green minis were usually worth something, and it was cool having them :P there was a whole mini pet market so it must have mattered to enough people. and u still have to double click to activate in gw2 hehehe
also.. most games send birthday presents, its nothing new, this one was just straight up bad!
oh fun fact, the most expensive item on gw1 was a mini pet :P the ghostly hero… which btw, you got from HA (PvP) Ö!! #GoodRewards
minins on gw2 were random, of different rarities and gave the possibility of earning some cash and/or prestige( having an expensive mini)
on gw2, mini will be locked away on the bank forever never to bee seen again, since its ugly, account bound and everyone will have the same one!! ! do you still feel special ? :P

and… well unless you’re fighting a non human like jumper, it is extremily easy to predict when the evade will end, and burst them down.
lol… you do realize Anet tried to bring condi damage to HGH level, and now thats why we have this horrible meta ?
they need to:…
- Turn down all the damage
- Make single target damage worth it..
- Dont allow AI pets to play the game for players
and more importantly… - Fix Bugs on non-changing stuff such as runes, sigils!!!

If the meta shifts again towards power/balance, they will become king again.. after all they have the cheapest class mechanic, easiest access to stuns, burst, boon hate, stun breaks, ports, etc… they just lack that condi removal to be in this meta!

We’re waiting for a patch because of 10 players. And we’re waiting a month for it.
*2 months :P big patches are normally around the end of the month so end of sep hopefully we’ll see some changes.

Pets like these just arent healthy for PvP
- Visual clutter in fights, bad for gamplay and viwers
- They arent tied to the player’s stats. allowing the user to bunker while pets deal most of the damage
most builds forces the player to chose between damage/survival. except this kinda of builds so if you think about it, it isnt fair how players can play tanky while the AI does most their damage for them, and while killing them is an option, you have to consider that by the time you get to the actual player, you’ve used alot of cool downs, taken a lot of damage, wasted a lot of time and then the other play can survive you long enough to recast all the pets. and its like starting over all again if you have survived all this long(prob not).

heals/boons etc are prioritized on party memebers over pets, but dmg is divided “Evenly”

so you’re saying that instead of dealing with AoE in a proper way we should cover up the problem by bringing more pets and turning PvP into PvE. mobs might as well start dropping loot at this points…
the way pets are right now are too visually cluttering for both the player and the viewer. making things messy and confusing
so are you saying its fair that a single class can run around with 5 pets when most if not all skills are limited by a 5 target limit ? pet who not only provide powerful effects, but also gain the benefits from boons

Tiger and bear are really bad compared to wolf…. they were rushed, shark finisher is awesome, might dare to say more impressive than the phoenix video thats up on the wiki.

Reason I don’t like Engineer is all the self-cc and unreliable attacks that usually put me in more danger then my enemy.
Its ok on bandit NPCs.. but not players no thanks.

Most likely there wont be any serious changes until after PAX, and depending when they decide to do the next big patch. we might not see any meta shifting changes prob until the mid-end of September.

Stealth needs 2 simple changes in my opinion
- Give reveal debuff if the attack is blocked/blinded/dodged
- Show damage numbers(at least direct numbers) to reward and kinda give the other play an idea of where the stealthed player might be
two simple changes that don’t buff /nerf anyone, but simply allow for counter plays.
