DeathMatch simply wouldn’t work on GW2 thanks to class balance
Currently Mesmer is the only class with reliable Ress, strong burst, boon hate, insane amounts of invulnerability and are 1 of the 2 classes that it’s impossible to stomp on the first try.
Death matches would be based around 1 guard and 4 Mesmer and maybe theif, unless Anet finds a way to give other classes without invils/stealth a way to defend against focus fire and complete boom clear. And also a reliable ress
the main problem would probably be the retaliation animation, imagine the how it’d look if retal triggered for every tick of bleed(up to 25), poison, burning, torment, confusion per second
Even if they manage to round it up to 1 unique tick per unique condition, the animation would still be a little too much.
also, 10% of condition damage is really not a lot, would have to be higher to actually be noticeable, getting hit for 10 dmg per bleed fot ex, it’s really not gonna do a lot , specially if it’s a necro with 22-27k HP

I think it would be funnier if everyone rolled stun warriors.
They’d get rolled by Necros. You gotta land those stuns first, while necro is just running around, double-dodging randomly, because he doesn’t have to land anything to kill you.
lol bad warriors giving bad rep to the class, a necro can’t kill a decent stun lock warrior. right now warriors have lots of stability sources as well as they they have the most condi clears

Honestly haven’t thought of that… but Fire Aura in a rifle power build won’t be very strong burning, unless you’re crazy and slot Rampagers gear…
Indeed, I can blast finish the field to obtain a short-duration Fire Aura, and that may come in use.

Engineers acrually have 2 builds that can actually 1 shot people, pretty hilarious how now one else has fugue out… considering it’s made off skills that haven’t been buffed since launch
Would be nice if magnet had a half second cast time like thief’s scorpion wire, instead of the rather impractical 1 and a quarter seconds.
Scorpion wire is 1 skill worth 1 unity while magnetic is part of a kit (5 skills), also Magnetic has a shorter cool down and takes about the same time to pull someone; while it has a longer cast time, but it also has no fly time like scorpion wire. magnetic is also unblockable and doesn’t even need you to face the target.
Magnetic is way better
Pistols scale terribly with power, with pure full 100% your auto attack will hit for around 800-900 crits and dart volley will be your strongest hitting skill with 3-4k crits ( assuming all darts hit) and without kits, unless you run a SD build(surprise shot + sum else) , your actual dmg will be nom-existent
and should be nearly impossible to kill anyone on PvP/WvW

- Lesson or the day: don’t Auto attack
that’s an easy one. you always fire Elixir F while your target is still under the knock back of overcharged.
the game detects where to fire according to the direction and speed the target was moving when the fire was shot and tries to predict where he would be if he stayed at that speed, but after it’s fired it has no way to detect any change on speed or location.
when you overcharge the enemy, Elixir F assumes they are moving at the speed they are being knocked back at, so it fires the shot at that location where the foe would be if he didnt get knocked down, which will always be out of range.
Elixir F needs to have no cast time like flame blast, and be heart-seeker like the old thief short bow auto-attack, this would balance things considering how little the skill actually does

oh… last note, all buffs need to be channeled and are EXTREMELY EASILY INTERRUPTIBLE! any amount of dmg will cause channel to fail making it impossible to get them if anyone from the enemy team is there. and you can’t cap while stealth/invul or anything
the mechanic is only game breaking against teams who ignore about the buffs or simply don’t know about them
It’s acrually rather weak since in most tourneys, most teams will just start a huge team fight at the buff and waste lots of time..
but since I’m bored and a bit hang over I’ll explain a bit how the map works!
- Bottom Buff (the one where the water is) appears at 8:30, 2:30 and once you cap it, I’ll take control of all points. best strategy is go down where before the time, and if there are people there, someone someone with survival to just stall while other people in your team cap points
- Top Buff (the one in between altar & temple, by the 2 holes) this Buff will grant your team double points… so if you have 1 point, you will be rewarded as if you had 2, if you have 2 you will be equal points as if you have 4 caps and if you have 3 and buff, you will get points equal to having 6 caps! this one is prob the most important one.
- Side Buffs.. they are not recommendable… but, they can be good, each buff grants you 3 points per kills so if you have 1.. you get a total of 8 points per kill and if you get them both, that’s 12 points per kill. which could add up really fast assuming your team is good at winning team fights.

How to beat a necro 101
- Run Rifle!! disable them after you’ve put condis on them so they soak in dmg, also use it to interrupt their SLOW casting heal
- Bring a Second CC. FT #3 is perfect
- if you see a necro go into Death Shroud.. DODGE! right away, Doom(fear) is an instant cast skill and also is dodge-able, 95% of of necros use it as soon as they go on DS unless it’s on cd.
Additional tips…
- Unless a necro runs signet of undead, building Life force (need it to go into DS) is really slow and they lose it really fast… necro without DS = cake
- Run Hybrid(condi/dmg) build with carrion and find some precision… I just made a build that puts out 100+ bleeds, 600+ burns while still hitting 1.5k’s auto attack and 2-5ks on other skills.. It owns necros
what NOT to do!
go P/P full elixir condi build without any CC and Expect to win! that’s just silly.

yes, it’s true that some classes are better than others. BUT…. If spec’ed for the map… Mesmer are much more deadly than engineers, engi have single target short range CC while Mesmer have skills such as Curtain Pull and GS 5 which are two of the strongest CC skills ingame.. as well as insane amounts of invulnerability and reflects, a non lazy Mesmer who’s willing to adapt their build would never lose to any engineer.
and if you’re taking about meele classes… I think ur forgetting that warriors have a little too much stability, smart s/d thief can actually port back up… perms evade ranger with rampage ? no matter how you put it, it all comes down to making an effective build for the map, which people aren’t doing….
yes, thief can stealth pull you but.. the animation is kinda slow and sound animation painfully obvious, and can be easily stun broken out of, and since they can’t try again for 30s.. they will either have to leave or engage in a normal fight.
I hear you mention necros can fear, engi can CC, but.. what about your class ? probably does too, so it’s not really uneven battles. it’s all about out playing the other person, pulls have painfully obvious animations and they can’t knock you down if you’re facing a wall. 3 simple concepts that the loud members of the community can’t seem to understand.
But like I said, the map is far from perfect, it’s just an example of a different play type, an innovative and creative map which impacts the meta and help things feel fresh and people keep rejecting since it’s different, and now because of a few loud voices, it’s out the rotation and probably won’t make it back in

it might seem like people go in 1 kit for only 1-2 skills but in reality most skills are useful depending on the situation, some skills are offensive, some are defensive, and even some skills such as “box of nails” are great when trying to get away
Only useless kit skills I would say are…
Elixir F…. cast time on a slow, buggy skill with a weak effect, it’s simply not worth the time to cast it and, no cast time and would be worth it.
FT #4: asides from the fire field (which will be overwritten by any other field near) this skill doesn’t provide any offensive, defensive, utility or tactical use. and ground targeting doesn’t even is worth the time you need use it . I wish it was an Circle shaped Fire field that last for 3-4a with no ground targeting… would be more useful that way

I was just in a match and this engineer stealth and hit me from behind for a 10k ply bar, removed all booms, applied 25 confusion and then used his shield which is kinda like an invul to block all my down attacks! Please nerf!!
Build diversity on engi is actually amazing if not the best among most classes, 1 utility can impact how you play an entire build, and as a class, we have the biggest ease when choosing what kind of build we want to make since most skills have both dmg/conditions added to them, also.. we have the most divertsy when It comes to play style, 2 people can take the same build and play it completely different since skills allows for that flexibility and engineer is a highly reactionary class.
Build creativity died a little once HGH became popular and everyone started running it but now it’s coming back. personally… I just came up with a crazy hybrid build which allows me to deal full condi dmg while dealing 1.5-6k direct dmg hits… engineer has too much viable things to offer, you just need to explore it
It’s all about terrain, you if pull them on hills or uneven ground, cause the pulled player to get "stucked" and not be pulled the full distance, you can advoid this by choosing wisely on which terrain you’re pulling or jumping as you pull.
the game itself needs some improvements but… what about the community ?
with the release of skyhammer a few things came to light, one of the biggest one is how much the “loudest” members of our community hate change, skyhammer is far from the perfect map but… the map itself serves as an example for different, more creative play-types. but then you see all these members of the community completely rejecting and shutting down just because they don’t want to adapt.
these players want to continue running (example) the same shatter build they have been runnimg from launch, the same DD ele build from 7 months ago, same cheesy BM Ranger, etc on the same team comp they run for every map, every month… completely ignoring the unique mechanics of every map.
skyhammer is a step on the right direction, the playground actually played an important role on the meta, driving it away from the bunker- condi heavy into a CC-1v1 meta. It could be awesome if every map had such an impact, it would make map rotations meaningful and help shift metas while keeping things fresh…
but.. until all these loud members of the community learn to adapt and stop being so ignorant towards their class (LOL at all of those who sware their class don’t have any CC or stun breaks), doors will continue to close for both GW2 and the community.
What do you guys think?
- do you want more fun and creative maps, with innovate mechanics ?
OR.. - plain boring maps with meaningless mechanics so you can run the same build and team comp map after the next?

Templates would help, this and every map. Currently people are so fixated on one particular build that they refuse to try new things and the lack of flexibility when it comes to switching builds could be a big reason for this.
Currently, a lot of players will have to make 2 or more characters of the same class to be able to run different specs or simply try new builds. By adding templates it would relief a lot of the pressure that it comes with changing builds. Also, it would allow players to try new builds and then swap back to their regular spec without having to go through all the work, people would become more open minded. It’s all the clicking that makes people lazy! and knowing that they most likely have to switch back! Lazy 101

Every map has a different mechanic… I don’t think it was intended by Devs for classes to have 1 god spec that works for all maps but rather have players adjust their builds according to the mechanics of each map. after all… all maps are unique for a reason and map rotation only happens once every few days.

it’s sad how people rather QQ than simply adapting their build (which is prob meta and copied off sombody else) to be more effective on the new map, everyone class has CC’s and it shouldn’t be too hard to understand not to fight by edges.
Skyhammer is amazing for bringing a different and fresh new playstyle which allows for creativity

Now how many fears/knockbacks does necro have? And how many engineer?Its ridicutlous.
Mesmers have GS push and focus pull ( 2 strongest in game radius and control wise)
Eles have backdraft but… they also have acess to stab and immobalize.
necro have 3 skills that can fear on a 20 40 kitten cd … lol
people who are complaning about map is because they are too lazy to adapt… every class has some form of CC and map is actually pretty balanced in the sense that everyone now has escapes, and the better player wins ( or at least the ones who understands to stay away from edges )
EVERY CLASS HAS SOME FORM OF CC just gotta know how to use it!
lighting hammer has “Banish” lol its OP once you combine with backdraft/earthshake

you do realize elemental are so much stronger than Flesh golem right? also you can chose the elemental that you want for the situation that you want, and it brings a lot more in fights.
Elemental actually play a roles in fights. flesh golems, exept than when its using charge. it just deals moderate dmg before dying to AoE.
and tornado can be nice on situations… its just dumb that it instant procs confussion soo many times for no reason >.> instant kill..

Check the tool tips or simply test them, damage from “Eviscerate” and “Final Thrust” are the same (at least at the 50%) and sure, maybe i wasnt specific enough. if you land thakittens a 1 shot finisher.

You can go mace/shield & GS with “Mending”, “Signet of Stamina”, “lyssa Runes” and “Cleansing Ire” for reliable and consistent condi removal, then Soilders Amulet with berserker/rampagers jewl with “Unsuspecting Foe”. the rest you can play around with.
i dunno if its a design flaw or simple a misunderstanding but other than full bunker, no else is really able to stand in the middle of fights while taking all the damage that is being put out, specially DPS classes. and even tho warrior is suppose to be fighting on the front lines, unlike guardians. warrior have lots of mobility skills which allow for easy engage/disengage which should give people a clue.. great warriors don’t charge mindlessly into a fight thinking their are gods, but rather pick out their target and rip them appart..
right now warriors are usually the first target because of their popularity. they keep “bragging” how bad they are, and how easy they go down to all other classes, making people think of them as an easy target. and it doesnt help that except top warriors, no other war will even try to disengage. they will just sit there, take the damage and die in place.
for the people reading this, make something with what i just gave you. you get it right, you can win most fights against necros and other meta classes.

Because the players want to play it like its just PvE!
also… because of the bad fame, warriors have viable builds now, its just that people still think they are a free meal and focus target them no matter how hard they are to kill
1 thing that people are forgetting, some warriors animations and “moves are crazy SLOW, with long cast times” but that’s because if they land it, it hurts a lot more than any other class.
People are forgetting that warriors are the DPS kings of the game. people complain alot about the cast time of 100B or that it roots you to the ground, but they seem to forget how much damage this skill does.
Other skill is i hear people complaining alot is “Final trust” but people who complain is hard to land, also forget to mention that if they land it on anyone under 50% its a 1 shot skill with the same damage as Eviscerate.
The biggest problem with warriors, is not the class itself but the players on it.. they wanna be DPS beast like they are on PvE, expecting to go glass cannon and own. players just need to learn to spec better, warriors now have good condi clears, and easy acess to stability and CC, which is a direct counter to most meta builds. but people rather not spend those 20 points on Defense and then come on forums and QQ about how much warriors suck on PvP

Engineers don’t have nearly as much survival as necro. Necro are more tanky and also have a larger health pool, they can easily clear/transfer all conditions quiet often and they can easily condi burst fear anyone trying to go after them. their survival is quiet impressive tbh.
Necromancers have taken the condi engi place(In PvP at least) BUT…… Engineers continue to be the CC kings. power engi with CC can easily take down necros, something thats nearly impossible with condi engis.
kinda disappointing, people continue to take the time to QQ on forums but don’t take the time to actually play the class and come up with a build on their own…..
I’m give you a clue…. there are traits such as “Cleansing Ire” which along “Signet of stamina”, “mending” and runes of lyssa with “signet of rage” can keep yourself condi free…
try mace/shield + GS….. the mace burst skill is a 3s+ stun long enough to let you do a full HB without frenzy… every 10s and removes x3 condis…. u also get x2 stuns, daze block and the godly mobility from gs.
take “Unsuspecting Foe” and use soilders while keeping high dmg.
use those tips, come up with a build and enjoy being god among most meta builds, including the buffed necro terror spam, the only one that should be of any trouble is phantasm/shatter mesmers, but just because Anet spoiled them with those brainless cheesy builds, other than that you should be able to handle any situation…

the incendiary powder you see now is the nerfed version of what it once was :P you could keep it 100% up in the past and AoE.
the problem isn’t on engi, they can apply burning but its easy to remove it. but same trait on necro is kinda OP considering most classes lack stability and we love to chain that fear!
giving necro burning on a 10s cd was a horrible idea, and even necros agree on that and it doesnt even fit a necromancer lol

Not for the CD they have. Most Mesmer weapons untraited do not have a single skill that is under 10s and some of our higher skills that are support are in the 25-35 range. (staff) and then some weaponskills are just so useless they are never used anyways (mindstab GS… the entire scepter)
mindstab is the only one that i kinda could agree on, not because its a bad skill, but because ground targeting its to inconvenient for what it does.
and about scepter is just bad, not because the skills sucks, but because it doesnt even come close to bringing what sword brings ( boon-hate, immobilize, leap, tele, stun breaker, invulnerability, good dmg on a 10s cd)
other than than that, what other skills would you consider useless?
i’m just curious cause mesmer seem to have the best skills among all weapons in game, its sad seeing all the effort and resources that wasn’t put into other classes is being so unappreciated by mesmers.

can anyone test this ? all skills go on a 5sec CD if interrupted so OP might be mistaking this with the cd of the skill (10s).

to mesmers, it would feel like a nerf but in reality is simply toning down, all it would be doing is adding 4s to the rotation, but no builds would be affected by this change. and even some like shatter mesmers will be unaffected which already 90% of mesmers play by choise, and not because they have been corner down to playing 1 build like eles.
its all about balance, its not fair to any class to allow 1 class to shorten the recharge of their most powerful skills/utilities for only 5 points.
altho, the patch notes will most likely be fake. Personally i doubt Anet would ever have the guts to do this kinda of change to mesmers.

Its impossible to truly monitor forums to try to find and solve problems, since there will always be something for the community is about QQ about, maybe your class doesnt have everything you want, or because you get countered on your favorite build.
Anet needs to take more leadership and focus on the important stuff, like the standar basics; making sure what already exist is polish and working as expected. It’s sad that non-changing things such as runes, sigils have been bugged since launch.
phantasm is dead because they have to wait more 4s to cast OP illusions? lol kinda funny
and simply no….. if illusions get the effect of signet of illusions, u need to spend 6k+ dmg on each. while taking full retal dmg and letting the mesmer freecast on you.
