You’re honestly complaining about L.A. and the Achivements being clutter??

Get out into the zones that are being invaded and get a peep at that crap if you want something to be Confused & disenchanted by. No really do right now and gaze at the future of this game. 200 people Clustering over the same fire spewing Terminator robot while a My Little Pony cackles at just how dumb all these FPS clogging Farmers around you are for not even trying to complete the Event properly.

Then go into any other zone without an invasion and watch the tumbleweeds collect.
Better yet try to find a Temple that’s actually being completed…

Personally I’d rather get Trehearne than Jennah.
Even Twilight is a better love story than Logan & Jennah

It’s not really even mildly entertaining even when you are Contributing and dodging and staying alive while everyone else around you goes * splat *. It’s a grindy war of attrition usually with mobs that have “artificial difficulty” through too much CC which does NOT create interesting fights. (it just makes you crutch on stability/guardians)

Also, I, and my guild, noticed today that some of the spawns on the final assault seem to have changed. Any info on that would help too!

Veteran Subjugators: http://youtu.be/BfnKq_PlXUc
There’s 3 or 4 that spawn in the first 5 Ambushes on your way to the Switchback
(and one of them spawns randomly on either side of that turn).

That skill’s casting time is either 1/2 second, or 1/4 second. So you either have to chain stun them, or intercept them the second they spawn at 1 of their 2 random spawning locations. If they spawn North of the route then usually you can get away with letting them summon the wells on you. If they spawn right where the pact NPC’s will see them, it’s pretty much GG unless you have multiple players all chaining CC on them.

Also: don’t let people put speedbuffs on the Pact NPCs, that just makes this whole issue 4x worse. The best thing you can do in my opinion is convince everyone to stop running Nuking builds and take CC instead and prioritize the Vets. You WANT the minions to keep the Pact NPC’s busy so you have time to kill the Vets before the Pact gets close enough to possibly die in those Wells. So basically: Don’t rush them… :p …the ONLY minions you have to worry about nuking super fast are the Nobles who only spawn once in a large wave

No one should be getting downed at the start of phase 2.

I call total bullkitten on this one. The switch to Phase2 can result in a trainwreck of random things all going wrong at once and the guy who dives on the grubs to prevent multiple stacks is a HERO, not a rookie. A any decent team can even Rez him later on if needs be. The only real mistake in the transition to phase2, which I’ve made a few times I’ll admit, was not saving up a Dodge for it while also not running Endurance Stew…

Of course if you range then you shouldn’t get downed at the start of phase 2.

was that sarcasm? hard to tell and you have a much better chance of living by standing directly under him at the beginning of phase 2

I’ve done both methods with Sky several times…. sometimes everything goes right.
Sometimes there’s a panic & one or the other gets downed (But never both of us at the same time which is frankly all the skill really needed to ensure a successful enough fight)

That’s cute…. the OP thinks they need money.

When they needed money in Gw1, they planned more expansions. Any MMO, you can tell when they’re desperate, is when they put out more expansions, especially excessive triviality or powercreep ones …. which can actually go in BOTH EXTREMES if you look at the last WoW expansions.

Meanwhile this studio is admitting up and down that they haven’t even given serious thought to any expansions yet. They were actually CLOSER to knowing where they wanted to go with expansion scheduling 2 years ago. You know what that’s called? It’s called financial freedom. They already sold 3 million copies of this game. It took them more than 2 years to sell 3 million copies of Prophecies & Factions combined. And on top of that, they’re also getting a lot more Microtransactions than the first game got in its first couple years.

So no, they don’t NEED money. That’s a lie. Stop misrepresenting the truth plz, to justify whatever it is you’re attempting to justify…

How do I get back into the game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ilr.9675

Right now? … ya don’t.

Try back in a few months after they’ve made good on their promises to re-instate most of that Temporary content that you missed. …Most will will be coming back in the form of Fractals which you don’t actually NEED ascended gear to participate in (unless you intend to actually speed-run/farm it multiple times for higher level rewards).

In that case, you would need to start practicing all the existing missions in fractals so you’re familiar with them and thus not a “Burden” to the more experienced players who risk ‘Pugging’ them. (you can’t PICK which missions you get in Fractals, all 3 or 4 are assigned randomly when you enter).

If they don’t do something soon, then most people will give up for good and all that will be left are the MinMax farmers & status chasers.

why is there tax on gem purchasing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ilr.9675

ilr.9675

Tax on gem Purchasing is absolutely necessary, infact it should really be 100% of the 30% levy…. What makes absolutely NO SENSE, is the tax on exchanging Gems back into game Currency. There should be no tax on the exchanger at all. …thus more would actually start exchanging their RMT Gems for Gold, get a lot MORE gold, and eventually everyone would be a bit happier with the outcome. ….well everyone except for the illegal 3rd party blackmarket gold-sellers who currently have no Taxes to pay because they do it all under the table.

Well #1, you need an Exploration buddy. The Buddy system is VERY important for certain map completion objectives.

But the other thing I wanted to say…. is if you think this is bad, you should try Planetside2.
THAT GAME literally gave me an Ulcer. And I don’t mean “oh it p***ed me off really bad”, no I mean 2 different doctors, 1 internist, and 1 psychiatrist, both diagnosed it as stress induced b/c blood tests showed no biological causation or preconditions towards it. And the only “stressful” thing in my day was that game. I quit it immediately and played GW2 to relax for a few months and now it’s in remission. Yes Gw2 can have some frustrating points in it. But it’s not the worst, not by a long shot. And if you stop what you’re doing and take more time to re-evaluate your strategy and daily routine in it, or just plain old ask for help…. it can actually be stress-relieving.

It’s all in your approach :\ …(yet another reason for the buddy system, constructive socializing like the buddy system is very helpful therapeutic usually)

is anything being planned to check inflation?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ilr.9675

ilr.9675

This is not inflation. Everyone is buying gems to buy the limited time items (eg. everlasting mining pick) that are returning to the gem store. The price increase for gold -> gems reflects the increased demand, not inflation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supply_and_demand
I swear 99% of people who post about inflation in the economy have no idea what inflation means u.u
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inflation

Inflation is a problem when it affects staple commodities unfairly for the disadvantaged, IE: when any kind of large disparity in incomes is the standard. Though it’s also a problem for anyone who’s trying to keep their “savings” in a single currency. IE: their 8 months of hard work is now only worth 1 month of a Champ Farmer’s effort… (which is only worth 1 hour of a proficient Market flash flipper’s efforts).

And yes, staple commodities have been soaring lately and I’m not talking about ectos. Ectos & Gems have actually been undervalued for a very long time according to my observations. Staple commodities would be things like … Carrots, Chilis, Rosemary, Garlic, Cotton, Mid-level Woods, Gold Ore, Silver Doubloons, Lemongrass, Vials of Blood, Rare Greatswords, Ori ore, etc… Luxuries like precursors or other high price items aren’t the thing you look at when figuring out whether the market is beginning to exclude new people from the game. But these other things ARE, and they had been trending very irresponsibly ever since COF became the gold standard meta.

They actually deleted the last thread about this. No explanation, just moved it to “Trashcan”. I find it odd that this one is red-underline upvoted (I don’t think that means a post is popular, I think it means an actual employee anonymously upvoted the post).

In other words: I believe this is an issue that Anet itself is torn over. Their Marketing / Business people who’ve had all the sway all year long want to ensure that no one gets a roll at the minis that typically require a cash shop purchase b/c then the people who payed real money for those would be put off by it and less likely to pay more money in the future. And the oldschool designers meanwhile were probably just as enamored with the Gw1 system as the rest of us, probably more so.

Me… personally?? I just wanted some godkittened CUPCAKES

I actually said this before the last thread was deleted, that I would have preferred to NOT GET ANYTHING AT ALL, over this slap in the face that we got. This too has also been quickly falling apart. …with barely enough people showing up any more to do Melandru while Grenth has failed multiple times (we never used to fail Grenth unless someone pulled aggro on priest and then stood directly on Jonez).

The people who stopped showing up b/c they thought farming Aetherblades was more important, are going to be in for a surprise when they try to return to ye old 5:00pm reset, …and just see an Empty Meddlers. …No banners, no one chatting, no omnoms…. just a few AFK’s and that annoying NPC who won’t shut up about Maak.

Well regardless of the OP’s personal reasons for creating the thread.

The point stands:
http://www.gw2state.com/temples.html
Completion of the events themselves is at an all time low.
…And yes, this IS because of several….. SEVERAL … things Anet did wrong recently and still hasn’t explained. Even after getting that Josh guy in the bug threads to whip that forum back into shape, they still haven’t addressed ANY of the threads affecting Temples there.

They’ve basically put Orr in stasis now b/c their recent experiment with it totally BACKFIRED. I don’t blame them running away from the problem now considering what a mess they’ve made of it. It’s going to a lot more effort now on their part to bring back the people they’ve recently driven away from it.

http://www.gw2state.com/temples.html

Hope they come back some day, but I doubt it at this rate.

People that zerg want stronger enemies. They want the loot drops. You get better loot running in a zerg, therefore the game supports zerging over not zerging.

You don’t need more than a dozen ppl to spawn a Champion in most events.
Ppl zerg because they know it makes the Champion die a lot faster and hit it’s maximum targets per attack limit too, making it actually a lot Weaker, not stronger

Are you disappointed by the players?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ilr.9675

ilr.9675

I don’t really get what youre trying to say. What else are players going to do?

Btw there are plenty of non-grinder/farmer classic mmorpg players. They played the game, levelled up, played dynamic quests, played the personal story, completed a bunch of dungeons/fractals/jumping puzzles/guild missions, maybe got map completion, tried some spvp and wvw (and presumably didn’t like it or preferred other pvp games, or they would still play). They all have either quit or just log in for a short time every few weeks to check out new content. I would guess the majority of players fall into this category. Any player which plays longer is either pvp player or grinder (grinder because clearly they would be repeating content they have already done a LOT of). I would like to say i fall in this cateogry of “players who have basically stopped playing” but lol no i am a qqer, and i doubt most of these people bother posting on forums.

Some of us were repeating stuff like the Temples once every day.
And all together, they filled up a nice 3 hour chunk of time while still being difficult.
They brought a huge portion of the server together as a community…
…well, until these last two updates sapped everyone’s will to keep doing them.
The head commander had been doing them since December….

…December

And now these completely unexplained actions by Anet has brought to an end something fun that no amount of “repetitiveness” ever could…

I honestly wonder if Anet even cares. It’s hard to believe they wouldn’t seeing as many of the participants were from one of their Main guilds ever since Gw1. So they were atleast aware of it… So there must be soemthing else going on that’s preventing them from talking to us Frankly about it.

Champ Zergs Killing Dynamic Events

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: ilr.9675

ilr.9675

DEs were dead a month after release. Champ loot didn’t kill them.

1 month ago, I leveled a ele from 1-70 by doing hearts/quests. After queensdale, I saw less than 10 people in the world, total, for almost 2 weeks time.

At least I see people in zones now, even if they are just killing champs.

They took away every form of farming. People complained about empty zones. They add reasons to kill champion mobs, people complain. If they Nerf champ loot again, empty zones.

Halfway agree… halfway disagree. Yeah there wasn’t many people doing chain D.E.‘s, but now there’s even less. Though there was NO ONE ever doing Champion “Group Events” in the mid level Zones (and despite the Champ changes, that’s still the case.), especially most Underwater champs. The problem is what’s in the Drop Tables of the Champ Boxes. If it’s super easy to kill (queensdale champ) and adds up to be More gold than a regular Event provides, people will farm it nonstop. It needed to be things that had Saturation points. …fine crafting goods, thread, herbs, etc… No bonus silver. Your bonus comes from completing the D.E. and if those rewards need a boost, then Anet will need to add even more D.R. mechanics to deal with the Queensdale zerg who was already Zerging events even before the Champ loot update.

Some weapons just don’t belong on certain Classes. Rangers especially should never get Rifles b/c it just exasperates the average Ranger’s Bear-Fueled inadequacy & laziness.

Some people already think that giving Guardians- a -staff- was possibly the biggest mistake that otherwise overpowered & perfect class ever had happen to it.

and don’t even get me started on thieves…

Then there’s other things that are just plain No-Brainers. Like giving Engineers Maces with more creative Tool Skins. Or giving Ranger a mainhand Torch so they have another 1-handed DPS weapon that doesn’t routinely cause them to leap backwards off cliffs. Then there’s weapons that still need to be Built… such as Polearms so that Necros and Guardians and Mesmers can have Scythes and WarStakitten and an interpretive dance partner.

…me personally, I won’t be happy till I get a Dead Quaggan on a stick to swing around…

Also: Why the kitten is the Plural Form of Staff …. being filtered on this stupid Forum?

E) Because it’s standing in the way of us Completing the Event / Temple Chain

…I don’t even open these stupid boxes, they’re just piling up like those lame Tickets I’ll never use (yeah I watched videos of someone fighting Liandri… Watching someone play “Papers Please” was honestly more entertaining.)

Thief – I don’t know what it’s called but you know..

Perma Stealth?
…yeah that’s the “tutorial” for WvW’ing.
Only problem is a lot of players won’t leave the Tutorial there
