I always check 50 Shades of Bear for temples open/closed…..same with dungeons.
http://www.gw2bear.com/status.quaggan?check=Balthazar&server=NABut yeah, I’m running low on Obby Shards now (after making two gifts of mastery) and last we tried on TC, the Balthazaar temple was bugged and we couldn’t get it to finish.
You can check all day long…. but if we can’t muster the manpower b/c everyone feels like they’re in a Farming Race right now, then the view in your Browser ain’t gonna change.
Now I dont’ even have a normal use for these things b/c I ain’t in no hurry to build no Purple oopingas sword just to show off to people I don’t even know. But there are still 2 things I’d be willing to do to help those who actually need it: #1: Record all the spawn locations of these Veterans who cause it to Fail (and probably include footage of how you deal with them) … Or #2: Get a commander Tag and just lead people (who can actually follow a minimap) to where they need to be to control them.
But until there’s some kind of coordinated Guesting efforts to make that happen on both Sides of the Globe, there’s gonna be a lot of people missing out on Obbies. The easier solution might actually be to get a straight answer from Anet’s D.E. or Scripting Designers to find out WHY they did this… Either way, people are going to have to make a real effort here if they want this situation to change….
As a consumer, I just like having a choice in when (and therefore, how much) to pay for an expansion. I waited years and years to get Factions b/c it was in my opinion a poor expansion compared to Nightfall which to the opposite extreme I had purchased instantly when I found out what it included (customizable Heroes).
And before anyone says “Well this is free”, uhh uh, there’s no such thing as Free.
And If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. All the “Free content” they’ve been handing us lately has only made the Content I actually paid good money for worse, and worse …. and worse still.
This thread.
I was going to make a longer version because I too need shards and the only reaction from people is, “Guest to a server that has it done noob!”
and I’m like,
“…..YEAH BECAUSE PEOPLE TOTALLY WASTE TIME WITH TEMPLES NOW REGARDLESS OF SERVER.”
We were doing them every night on NSP… …some of us actually Guesting there just to make sure they GOT done. …well until this latest event basically stole 3/4’s of our “Force” and barely left us with enough people to do Gates (much less Grenth or Lyssa or Balth). …And before that there was some run-ins with Ember farmers as well getting in the way.
But the biggest problem… is Anet made all of these Temples HARDER in the last patch (especially Balthazar) and people can tell too, they’re not stupid. They know there’s a lot more challenge, and only the same old rewards which can’t keep pace with the Rampant gold farming going on everywhere else.
…which by the way…. Doesn’t make it any easier to get a Precursor. When things get more expensive b/c of Gold inflation, guess which are always the first heavily Flipped items to go up? ….yep Precursors. Flippers aren’t stupid either, they know EXACTLY when there’s more Gold pouring into the economy.
The reason they can sell those spots is basically b/c there’s no X-factor pug members to rely on or who can also foul up a clean run. There’s a video right now in the Dungeon forum of a Warrior solo’ing Lupi faster than some (bad/slow) 5-mans I’ve been in. This is simply b/c more “attacks” are also generated for each additional entity in the room with him (this actually seems to be a constant with some bosses… Fight Dwayna’s Statue some time and watch what happens with her Nuking).
Positioning & dodging is like 99% of the dungeon. It’s the main reason Rangers are shunned. So it only makes sense that people who’d want to sell spots for profit, would rather run with as few party members as possible, than to take on the risk/burden of unproven PuGers (they’d only have to kick later and then risk “Bad Press” from over the forums or word of mouth). There’s also the “Scam Clause” which Anet actually used to enforce in some cases back in the day. It sounds hard to believe I’m sure but Anet actually would play arbiter to Scammy deals back in Gw1. A lot of Dungeon guilds won’t take that risk. Only someone who genuinely wanted to troll the hell out of people would go to such lengths b/c obviously there’s much easier ways to make a quick buck right now.
A bunch of animated Lions (no not Charrs) were party’in it up b/c the King’s son was born. Then something Bad happened b/c of a jealous uncle
Hamlet was in party hard mode and about to tap some Ophelia until something bad happened b/c … lol
..Beowulf was havin’ a party, and then something bad climbed out of a cave b/c of the noise…
etc… etc..
(edited by ilr.9675)
I’d say the biggest problem is what they put in the Boxes.
Basically…. more silver than any Event gives. Plus Greens with a minimum merch value
Atleast as much as COF generated if you do nothing else all day long.
And that’s the key word here… GENERATED.
It doesn’t take a genius to realize they should have thought more carefully about what they put in these things and stuck mostly to Crafting goods & Herbs instead like most other loot-bags give. Except with a cleaner Table that eliminates stuff people obviously don’t want (like Silk & Leather). …Then everything would eventually hit a point of “Saturation”. There is no Saturation point however for gold. It can just inflate every other commodity infinitely… (or until it reaches some kind of technical hurdle like in GW1 where people started substituting Ectos & Armbraces)
(edited by ilr.9675)
ya forward and up your pelvis … huuahhh!
.
I doubt the mods can even sticky anything
that one is also an entendre
I PUG dungeons all the time. Never happened to me (yet).
I hate people who pull the “Me Too…”
but in this case: yeah me too… PuG’d enough tokens for 3 full armors sets by now.
It probably does happen, it’s just rare b/c it’s not worth it for anyone besides serious trolls
^ okay you actually have a good logical point there. AND the probability to match.
Beating Scarlet only gives you a few champ boxes and there’s typically only 1 Champion among the Aetherblades … who’s also a lot less threatening than all the Veteran Strikers around him…. (b/c he’s an engineer and most Engies kinda suck?)
(edited by ilr.9675)
If I ever find one randomly, I’ll just be holding a Sweepstakes for it.
Probably even here on the forum…
I don’t plan on ever making a Legendary until I see Anet put out that Scavenger hunt they’ve been promising for nearly a year now. And even then I won’t be dedicating my entire time to it. In Gw1 when they announced the HOM, I had enough Titles & junk for 25 Points in it. Then fast forward 2 or 3 years and I only gained about 10 more b/c I thought anything beyond “Ghostly Hero” was just too austentacious
Lately??
Logging out sooner…
This isn’t a slight or attack either. There’s just much more constructive things to be doing in real life right now and more people need to embrace that while the weather’s still good. Healthy things. Things people should really try instead of whiteknighting a game that just happens to be really Farm-Focused right now. We can simply agree to disagree on those definitions. But what can’t be argued about is that there’s more important things in life than getting 20+ Gold a day in this game.
.
In-Game things? … I find setting up Larger group Event Pre-Events to be very validating.
That can be done solo… Then there’s Herb gathering which can be relaxing and profitable on certain days depending on how close they spawned to eachother. …umm… lucking out and getting a really good Dungeon team is always nice but that’s not really a reliable or casual thing so it begins to get more stressful the more dedicated to it you become until eventually you’re in the Dungeon Subforum comparing speed records & making fun of TAFU threads.

Maybe you guys should consider not complaining so much and just play the game?
You should really consider how much your post rings of being Over-privileged just b/c you transferred to a Bandwagon server. A lot of people couldn’t afford an 1800 gem Transfer.
If they could afford that they would have just bought their own Tag by now and set a better example on those servers where it’s literally harder to even make money because of lack of community. (Disparity tends to “Trap” people like a Ghetto). The fact you’re so insensitive to that really invalidates your entire last sentence which didn’t need to be in your post to begin with.

Farmville.
If you had any regular success at all at inclusive D.E.’s that require real coordination, they will consistently add broken stuff to block you like Champ spiders that summon Veteran Hatchling (an immediate contradiction in terms) and Champion Jesters. …Along with mere Veterans who do this crap: http://youtu.be/BfnKq_PlXUc
When you ask for explanations, they just ignore you and answer really trivial questions instead.
“fighting against TC, and you’re Crystal Desert”
Don’t remind us
Now I’m sad.
Sorry about that, I forgot how fresh the wound still was.
.
Back to the issue, I’m personally Torn on even getting the Tag. I actually need it for guiding people to where these critical “must disrupt at all costs” Mobs are in real D.E.‘s (not this Living Salesy farm junk), but there’s literally no point to that when you’ve got 3 to 5 other commanders who just leave their Tags on when they don’t even have the first Clue to how an Event even works.
….nevermind all the other stuff in this thread that leaves the average person with a terrible opinion of Commanders in general. For instance, I was coaching this one guy on dungeons last week. He didn’t even know how to Guest to servers or how to get custom gear. I had to walk him through all of this stuff. Not more than 3 days later I see him with a COMMANDER TAG. I know he’s a fast learner and all, but no one learns that Fast… I didn’t bother asking him where he got the money (probably Gem-Exchanged it).
I don’t understand why people who want to show off their “game wealth” aren’t happy enough with a Legendary or the “Golden” Title. We don’t need to see you on our Minimap wherever we go unless you’re actually organizing things and other people can vouch for you.
(edited by ilr.9675)
People complaining about Liadri are so adorable.
Watch someone solo Her, then watch someone else solo Lupi.
…so very adorable…
It’s not waypoints it’s the FARMING. It’s taken over everything b/c Anet just keeps punishing those of us who actually Tried to do Events the way they were meant to be done. (and they’re still doing it and ignoring us too when we attempt to get basic confirmation on whether a mechanic in that D.E. is even working as intended).
(edited by ilr.9675)
1H Swords are mostly okay. Esp now that they’re finally commemorating Bonetti.
(which true to its origins/homage, looks a lot like Inigo Montoya’s rapier)
Maces and Daggers …. ugh … Time for them to do a “Design a weapon” Contest again.
They also need to give Maces to Engineers and add a bunch of Tool skins (It doesn’t have to all be Wrenches), & a nice 1H Warhammer would get a lot of takers as well.
I live for fire fields, and I’m usually on a stupid ranger :p
@ OP … just do what every other Thief is doing right now and Farm WvW.
You literally can’t lose, that’s how bad Anet is at handling stealth balance.
(You can also find a niche in running Arah paths where Stealth > everything else)
(edited by ilr.9675)
We should get Daily Keg Brawl achieve for Path2…
they told us they were going to put a lot of work in revamping dungeon rewards..
(edited by ilr.9675)
Nothing blocks Deadeyes…. Not even reflect shields. They’ve always been this way.
Only thing you can do is try to dodge early, get out of line of sight, or Blind them.
For this specific “run” on the Path, I actually gave up on trying to use my guardian b/c he always got ALL of their aggro for some reason. I use my Ranger for the path instead because it has 2 really long distance Double-Lunges to get through those hallways before their shots can be fired (since trying to convince your team to just blind & kill the kitten things is almost impossible when they’ve got it in their heads that running is ALWAYS THE BEST SOLUTION AND YOU’RE A PVT SCRUB IF YOU DISAGREE). If that fails, throw a Bear at them like Chubbs & Brasil
(edited by ilr.9675)
Yea I was a bit worried when the pact moral went 25% lol.
Yeah we’re gradually figuring it out… I think I’ve finally gotten the Subjugator Vet spawning pattern down so I’ll try making a video guide on that. (There really should only be 3 of them on the entire run). So that’s how the Pact managed to get all the way up the hill with 100% morale.
Unfortunately in that center area righ below the Temple, you’ll have 3 or maybe even 4 Vet Acolytes spawn on both sides of it in rapid succession. And the Zerg tends to all shift to the right side onto the first one they see instead of a bunch of people also gathering right on top of GWC’s Tag on the Left side where the next 2 seem to spawn at. …this is basically a problem that’s always existed even before August.
Hopefully this info will help the Euro players who seem to need it most.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Forcing people into crafting, arguably one of the most tedious things to do in a game, results in the same exact problem: pushing the player base into something with little to no fun factor just to accomplish what they want.
It’s not nearly as tedious as RNG farming is though.
Try again.
Attempting any kind of argument about their “real world cost” from Gems, is just plain silly when you consider how broken our own real world economy is to begin with. So don’t even get started. Infact a good portion of Steam Devs & the Console industry relies on a demographic that casually spends over $200 a month on games they’ll NEVER PLAY AGAIN or Hats they’ll only wear for a couple weeks.
I don’t this as something to look down on. If we all look the same, what is the point of getting gear?
I’ve only ever seen 1 other person walking around with the Arah Greatsword on their back like my ranger has. Meanwhile I’ve seen hundreds of players with these Canthan D-Festival Skins everywhere I go. …. if the whole point was to be really unique based on some “Ability” to achieve something, then I’d say they’ve succeeded just fine at that.
….Not implying Arah is some uber l337 content either. I’m saying it’s just a lot more Obscure and independent from the status ladder that most people in this game seem to be achieving for through pure Grinding & Farming.
(edited by ilr.9675)
What’s with the freaky women? There are at least two in GW2; Scarlet and Faolain: and I know at least three other games with freaky women. Is it a new thing or something?
Anet has a wide and confusing history when it comes to this topic.
(edited by ilr.9675)
The Rollback we need right now is to August 5th, not Aug 19….
Lol, liar, you quit midway into an Arah run just to come troll CS with us.
I’d say that qualifies him as a hero
We barely even need Exotic gear (besides the Weapon itself) to do almost all of the content in this game. ….WTH do we need full sets of Ascended Gear for?
This whole thing is dumb
Besides, Anet’s trend lately has been to Trivialize skill instead of rewarding it.
Well, crafting right now is undermined into a method of leveling only, i doubt people use crafting to gain a profit etc.
Only cooking & jeweler if you read the crafting sub forum much… but the same skillset ( IE: doing market research before making aything) a person has to have for that to be profitable, can be applied to flipping instead to make 10x as much in half the clicking.
(edited by ilr.9675)
“We don’t have any epic back ground lore!”
…You’re kitten 12 years old….
Improving the Giganticus’s animations and the projectile’s visual cues would also be a good example of bridging the divide between seeming randomness, and approachable coachable skill.
Anet’s Animators in this case forgot the very rules of animation: There’s always that wobble, that hesitation at the start of a wind-up or forceful action. Maybe it’s even called anticipation? … In any case, this isn’t DragonBallZ, they don’t just flash around the screen and likewise they don’t have to spend 2 minutes charging up an attack either (Unless it’s the Howling King who literally Shoop da Whoops at you). Just somewhere in between… infact anywhere in between would be better than where it is now …Especially the double homing bolts that most people don’t even know that much about
(edited by ilr.9675)
Drop Table IS just BAD…. I’ve been getting nothing but those Tickets from chests instead of these things. Not sure that’s as much a bug as just bad oversight
Assuming you had tons of bowl of the stuff just lying from last update…
That’s not actually flipping then. ….Me personally, I took my stack of chilis, and made Curry Paste out of it. Every jar sold, and demand won’t ever just die instantly on those when the “newness” wears off like it will for this twisted Portal Device
The cooking itself isn’t efficient …. it requires Chilis.
So basically only the flipping itself… and getting lucky on low level herb nodes is profitable. (and the RNG on nodes is pretty bad so that almost rules out the Gathering component too)
Heh.. enter Dragon Coffers, stage right.
I knew there was a reason I was still holding onto stacks of those stupid things
Thank goodness something’s actually going right today..
inb4 swift
…hey I just made a ironic I think
<.<
Wurms are still the stupidest gimmicky part now that knights got nerfed
I tried Whirling Axe last time I went it and I still got clobbered by AoE. Could have been due to people not stacking perfectly on me though.
Same thing happened to me while right in his face, something about the physics just isn’t….intuitive. Any other mob would have had every shot thrown right back in their face
I wonder what Zraw will do to pass the time now?
Back to what we usually do. Dungeons faster than 99.9% of other groups. Cursed Shore was just to pass the downtime.
Not without a Bear you don’t….
For me, the main issue is what do you do with people who don’t want to farm?
I think they’ve already made it crystal clear what those players are supposed to do.
And not Today, No they made it clear on the 6th when they made all of the Temples a lot more difficult and gimmicky. Look at this thread for instance: /Temple-of-Balthazar-event-impossible/first …still no reply about the actual subject line of the thread, not even so much as a hint as to whether it’s even intended behavior or not. ….Same goes for all the Ember farm threads too, not one single comment on whether they anticipated it spitting out so many really low difficulty Champions so rapidly. And they didn’t change that at all, no all they did in this patch was make the Chan escort take 30 minutes to restart, IE: it can still be farmed easily. Meanwhile those of us wanting to do the event public-style (non-farming) have no “Window” in which to set it up anymore.
They did the same thing to Dungeons… Casual non-farming players were complaining about Ascalon Catacombs and no one wanting to beat Kohler either. What did Anet do? They buffed Kohler even more, & made Detha’s path the LONGEST/WORST path. And now Path3 which used to be the one every new player complained about the most, is considered the “speed runnable” path that gets farmed most b/c it’s so “Zerk’able”.
.
So…. just like in the good old days of Gw1, I completely Disagree with Escool here (actually feels good to say that, I was beginning to think we were becoming the same person there!) …Anet is not surprised at all by this rampant farming culture, infact I think this was one of the their main Demographics for the game they intended to keep around to make the game look “populated” for everyone else who only played part time.
The problem is… like tank full of Barracudas, they’re pretty much devouring all the other Tropical fish at a record pace and that’s why no one else even has TIME to do D.E.’s anymore with all the other crap going on in the game they have to keep up with, And the LAST thing they have time for now is to learn the harder ones that gadually got made a lot more difficult for no additional reward… (or in the case of dungeons, had their rewards completely nerfed b/c the Diminishing Return is now account bound instead of character bound).
So yeah, there were still some players who climbed the mountains simply b/c they were there. …suffering constant set backs just to learn how to overcome that challenge while getting less and less from doing it. Anet meanwhile didn’t simply forget about those players…. we wish they would have simply forgotten us and left this content ALONE. …No they messed with it to make it even more punishing to anyone still trying to learn it. Almost as if to ensure that we’d be the dying Breed who’d just give up and stop posting about all the creative things they could do instead to make Events actually FUN again.
Nothing else would explain why they’ve punished us this much, while rewarding Gold Farmers so much. Despite what they say, it’s clear they WANT US GONE. Feels bad man :\
(edited by ilr.9675)
Yo Dawg, sign me up for the double trenchcoat, I’ll take TWO!
Some armor in Aion looked cool. .
Nobody wants gigantic shoulderpads.
and if you do want ’em… roll Charr
Take screenshot of party names before a PUG run, problem solved.
We shouldn’t have to do that… All chat should stay in our Log somewhere (even if we have to create a separate Tab for it).
It’s only going to get worse…
People need commanders to help them out in PvE? You just clump up and spam 1-5 like a pianist. Reckon there should be Login commanders to complement the PvE ones.
THIS. I rarely set foot outside of WvW but when I do and show up at an event and there are 5 tags up……GRRRR. PvE is faceroll there is no reason to tag up unless you are running a guild bounty.
Actually you DO need one for the latest Version of Balthazar’s Temple (I’m going to assume you have no idea what that’s like right now… Well…) it’s basically “fighting against TC, and you’re Crystal Desert” on the WvW scale for difficulty. ….. For a mindless zerg event like the one I saw today through, yeah running a Tag is just completely wasted and might actually be working against the design of the “zone event”
Normally when a war finishes, people don’t go looking for another. But that’s just me.
I smell a canadian … yep smells like pine tree and pancakes
All I saw was a big zerg of not very good players literally running directly through & ignoring the normal zone events & even Zone champs (and passing up those coffers) to beat on some Aetherblades & some reskinned Steam Creatures.
I guess it was to be expected though… This is the audience they’ve cultivated.
I just logged out and gave up when it became apparent that we didn’t have enough people to pull off capturing any of the temples afterwards.
(edited by ilr.9675)
What I wanna know is…
Why did the Thread about “getting nothing but Jennah Minis” got “Moved to Trashcan”
…according to my PM box.
I better not find 5 Jennahs on all my characters made exactly 1 year ago.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Okay well that’s just totally pointless and further penalizes those of us who actually want to Complete the event. All they had to do here, was give it the Risen Giant + Risen Presence treatment, IE: As soon as the quota of about … what 20 Embers get killed?… The Cauldrons could just explode on their own and STOP SPAWNING EASY FARM MOBS. …That’s not difficult to code. They did it to the Giant Champ in 1 afternoon.
I could do it right now if the code was in front of me. It’s just a Count+1 loop function, really darn easy and I know for a fact they already have a function for that in their map/event editor tools which makes it even easier. …the only thing their actual change here accomplishes, is making the farmers guest to more than 1 server so they have to alternate but they’re still getting the same abusive no-risk high speed-reward scenario
And am I reading that one dev post right?? They closed down some part of the Pavillion that was farmed so now even more people are going to heading here to farm too??
(edited by ilr.9675)
It’s just pseudo random.
You will never convince ANet or anyone else that your aren’t just unlucky.
I expect that sometime in the distant future ANet will uncover a bug with the loot table that causes some people to get multiple precursors and other people to get nothing.
True, and the saddest part is that all they have to do to fix it is institute “Streak-Breaker code” ….which they ALREADY HAVE when it comes to getting too many Rares, etc… (Most people call it diminishing returns but I feel that’s a word that gets thrown around too much so I’m still waiting for someone to coin a better phrase)
Is this going to interfere with our normal Norma Temple-running schedule tonight??
Should we just call those off and let people drrp around for the next few days?
We’re looking into updating the menu options to make it a bit more clear for players.
Thanks for the reports and feedback!
Okay thank you very much. All we ask most of the time is that things are labelled properly… (and that patch notes also include things that are usually stealth nerfs so we don’t have to make conspiracy threads about those changes in the first place, Thanks)
