Easy fix: add champions to more events that currently have none. Spread people out.
Queensdale is going to need a serious Spawning frequency nerf First (think along the lines of 2 hours before they respawn, otherwise people will just Guest to other servers to try and steal their Champs too)
People won’t go anywhere else if they already have a “Comfort Zone” to stay in.
IOW: the same reason COF1 was over-farmed even though it wasn’t the most profitable gold farm in the game
Only the most blind fanboy would still defend Anet at this point.
The game is a mess on most fronts. From SPvP, WvW to the PvE side. Not properly tested updates and badly designed content is running rampant.
Yep, and they’re clearly not listening to feedback with open ears.
In the vast majority of their comments and interviews, you can see all the humbleness they started out with is GONE. ….there’s being a sensitive artist that also just so happens to have built up thick skin, and then there’s what they have…. Only way to describe I think would be: “a Kormirian Complex”. (soon to be replaced by the Trehearnian Dragon Complex).
It’s not nearly as arrogant and pedantic as most god complexes are, obviously it’s following nothing but a Road of good intentions. But Abaddon’s story also started off with nothing but good intentions (and he was seriously popular b/c of it, with almost as zealous a following as Dwayna). … but that’s not how “listening” works. That’s not how a customer service industry works either. You don’t just tune out the criticisms once all the Fanfare dries up and spend the rest of the year building pity-party Festivals for yourselves while the franchise goes down hill. You acknowledge it and then tell people that you’re going to try to improve on that part and then trust them with exact details on how you plan to do it.
THAT ALONE, impresses your Fans a lot more than the actual execution of it. And it keeps them as fans too instead of risking them crossing over into being critics when you keep doing the exact opposite of what they were hoping for. The finished product / execution itself is just there to try to win over the critics. If that doesn’t succeed, you don’t take it personally or go hide in your stupid Ivory Tower again ….Besides, it’s a lot more fun to flip it around and ask the critics what they would have done differently (then laugh b/c they usually don’t have a good counter response).
Not including the new weapons, you’ve just described a human guardian.
This
And if you want an Earth Magic regen Dervish, just go pure Melee Ranger :p
(yeah the worthless pet gets in the way but you can just pretend it’s an extra scythe as long as it’s a Drake) … got 50% longer Buff duration on mine & the second fastest movement rate in the game next to FGS Ele’s (without sacrificing the Elite for it)
If the rewards remain the same but you make them harder to get you are essentially increasing the time to reward ratio. To them, it’s effectively a nerf.
That’s exactly what they did in Orr though.
MOST of the DE’s are now much harder and no more rewarding than they were before this. Yes you get the new Champ coffers but the vast majority of your unboxing is still T5 garbage and the vast majority of THAT is Silk and thick Leather.
End Result: Players dying a lot more often & WP’ing more often. But only getting Masterworks & silk/leather. (I have yet to get a single T6 from these coffers… not even a scrap of Gossamar, it’s kittening PATHETIC)
.
Disclaimer: I don’t do these for the rewards. But knowing that some idiots in Queensdale & this Pavillion thing are getting 10x as many coffers with the same stuff or better for 1/4 of the effort… really Rustles my Cognintive disoJimmies.
(edited by ilr.9675)
I don’t think ANet cares much about trinity at this point. The balancing is done with a fixation on SPVP.
Yep this right here.
They don’t have 10 Wells stacked on eachother at a Door you’re taking 5 minutes to knockdown in sPvP. They don’t have Braindead NPC’s you have to escort and keep alive with no other tools except your DPS and crossed fingers. They don’t have a Giganticus Lupicus or Mossman in sPvP either….
Yeah our attempt failed also.
It’s not just right outside the gate that this seems to happen. It seems like ANY place along the route where either a Plauger or Subjugator vet can spawn, so too do these ridiculous Wells now.
You guys aren’t talking about dungeon rewards, your selling a service. Hell, TP flippers make a lot more than you and they never leave Lion’s Arch, a kid working at McDonalds can make a lot more gold than that.
^this Lol…
You’re not “making” gold,
you’re taking someone else’s b/c they don’t know how to Vidya Gaem
uh huh….. cut it down to only requiring 5 classes, and you might be onto something…
Pumping up the healing stat is more of a Role Playing thing than an actual strategy for group synergy. Healing allies for instance is SO WEAK that even if you have 1200 healing like I have, it barely makes any noticeable difference on most skills. (except Tome of Courage)
I don’t think they need to. I’ve opened so many of these and so has everyone else I was with, and so far no one I’ve seen in the Orr area has gotten a single unique Skin from them. I still have yet to get a Lodestone. (I have better luck just randomly killing Sparks as I go on my way through Malchor…).
Maybe the Queensdale ones are over farmed, but that doesn’t mean they are everywhere else…
I go where the difficulty is. Lots of people in the dungeon forums went there too.
And not long after release, no one but Hrouda was listening to them until he was moved out of that department as well. So this is really a chicken and the egg of “Who gave up on who”…
And now look what they’ve done… they’ve completely RUINED ORR. Seriously, go fight some of the more broken D.E.‘s in orr with a 12+ man group. Theres’ some Rehash Champion corruptor that’s like Kohler on 9000+ supersaiyancrack. He’ll AOE-pull everyone at BEYOND longbow range and then insta-kill them while they’re getting back up. And yes he spawns on an Escort where when the NPC’s die, it FAILS. It’s almost impossible to fight him much less beat him before all the NPC’s insta-die.
Then there’s a bunch of other ridiculous crap like Subjugators and PlagueBearers on the final Balthazaar push dropping massive AOE wells all over the place like they have no Cooldown on them and they last way longer than 10 seconds.
Oh and Jester Champions spawning on other Escorts too. It’s like these changes were made out of spite which makes even less sense since barely anyone was even doing the DE’s anymore in Orr. And now there’s even fewer people willing to put up with all that crap above. I still try, b/c that’s where the difficulty still is. But I’m sure everyone else who’s seen this stuff in action lately is scratching their heads wondering why Anet suddenly HATES them so much :p
(edited by ilr.9675)
HAHA I don’t even know where to put this one…
but I’m pretty sure it deserves attention too.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Yes…. former human Ritualists everywhere are jealous of our Shroud
This again this is an issue that affects Humans too (lots of complaints about it everywhere… eventually they’ll get around to separating these layers better and will not have Hats taking up Hair attachment slots…)
Just be glad it doesn’t clip the horns off too.
Yeh … Char pants are all basically “hoop skirts” … whoever did the Rigging on them must have been half asleep or something. Maybe the engine couldn’t enforce constraints for better animation of it without clipping half the frames, but maybe that’s a case where they should have said to themselves " HMM…. maybe we need to consider separate designs for these sets??" … and then started rigging them fresh from scratch instead of trying to force human Bipedal structure over a large Digitigrade cat’s legs (And Tail)…
Has any server got this open since the patch? I’m genuinely curious, i need my obi shards :x. Every time I check not a single server has it open. If there’s a server on NA that is attempting to complete it I’d be happy to pitch in, but at the moment it seems like the past 3 days its been continuously contested on all servers.
Only GuildWarsChamp.5302 could answer that one partially for us on NSP (as I said, we pulled it out last night around 7pm PST, but it was just by a Hair so if too many unskilled players show up early to “coat-tail”, it will probably FAIL). On NA, I think your only 3 options are going to be NSP, TC, and Maguuma. Those are frankly the only 3 servers in the entirety of NA with both the Experience and mastery of WvW, Event, & Dungeon Gimmickry to pull it off.
And this is a Bug thead, not a Strategy thread. Plz see the Dynamic Events thread if you’d like to discuss strategies to beat it (this goes double to all the rest of you who might be tempted to tell others “LEARN TO PLAY” on an issue that is obviously way outside the Norm of where most Game Mechanics fall in line)
(edited by ilr.9675)
The issue with the Fields, appears to be an issue with Scripting.
- Wells lasting 30 seconds or more.
- Being cast instantly, or without any Cooldown on them.
- Dealing 1800 dmg per tick even to players with over 1800 Toughness.
- Completely eliminates individual build Variety and discriminates against multiple classes, IE: “No one should be doing this Event with us unless you’re an Ele or Guardian”, etc…
And of course yes…. that fact that there’s Nothing in the NPC Allies A.I. that makes them actively AVOID AoE’s even though that was a Core element of GW1’s AI.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hardmode#Differences_from_normal_mode
Foes in hard mode use a superior AI:
- Respond more quickly to area damage over time.
- Are more likely to fight for longer periods of time.
- Are less likely to ball around a single target if more targets are available.
- Are more likely to kite for long periods of time.
- Will not activate skills that increase attack speed with no other benefit.
…
As for ways to beat it…. b/c as I’ve seen first hand.. it IS possible…
- First and most obvious, Ele’s have several CC’s that can be a difference maker here. Anyone who has a level 80 Ele and enough extra skill points should probably consider switching to theirs for this regardless of what gear it has (b/c it’s only the CC’s you’re really needed for and Tornado especially)
- Anyone who’s a Norn should consider Wolf as your Elite. Not only do you have 3 CC’s on a quick recharge, you also have a powerful LifeSteal in case the Vet casts a well directly underneath you
- Rangers should start out behind where the Vet will spawn and pull it further back with Path of Scars and then get in front of it while swapping to Longbow to push it even FURTHER back.
- Guardian can wield a Hammer and then swap to a Shield Off-hand for multiple Knockbacks while summoning the wisdom Hammer. And then cast Sanctuary right at the Vet’s Feet once it’s up against a Wall or surrounded by other players on all sides.
- Necros? … I dunno what to tell you guys besides chaining Fears which you can’t technically do anyway b/c you only have about 2 of them easily accessible plus Wail (daze) and little else… You’re probably screwed on this one otherwise.
- Mesmers: This isn’t COF, think outside the Box. …maybe try throwing Veil in front of members of the Pact a second or two before the Plaguers spawn to buy everyone else an extra second or two… Spam Diversion like it was Gw1 Random Arenas, abuse Temporal Curtain like it was WvW. Polymorph doesn’t really last long enough but maybe it’s worth a try. Don’t bother with Feedback, it won’t stop Wells. Domination and Distraction might be enough though.
- War / Thief / Engie … obviously you guys are there to clear and kill. Stick to what you’re good at but consider switching Prof if your first attempts don’t work and the rest of the jokers around you aren’t CC’ing the Plaguers enough.
And If simply knocking these Plaguers way way back from the Pact doesn’t stop them from summoning Wells directly on the Pact then that’s all the proof we’ll ever need that something got seriously bugged with this Event and that Anet’s got some ’splainin to do
.
The main problem IMHO is that so many random Pubbers are so pre-conditioned and hardwired at this point towards just throwing AOE’s at everything to solve every event, especially minion mobs b/c thats’ where most of your L00t drops come from in these events. But with this encounter, plus the VETERAN ACOLYTES up at the top of the hill… it’s really all about quickly targeting that 1 single Truly dangerous mob the instant it spawns, and then locking it down as best you can. Whenever multiple players do that, you stand a much better chance.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Surely you wont do all paths in one day? All we need is proper reward scaling for rest of the dungeons than just ac or arah.
Basically the paths that were unappealing before the patch are still unappealing. No one wants to run too many different paths because there’s just not enough reason to. The reward scaling could help that a lot.
Not denying this …. but….
If your regular friends can’t agree to do the run at the same time you’re available then it’s time to find some new friends… Blaming Anet for their selfishness won’t achieve much
I don’t think that’s Kosher….
You guys really need to look into making some changes that makes WvW itself easier to balance … then maybe every other change made to the game that impacts WvW, wouldn’t disqualify all this other wonderful stuff you can’t make promises on.
…A good place to start would be small Elite teams versus Zergs. …or Outmanned in general. The NPC commanders that are just used to PVD a single tower did nothing to change that. It’s time to take the training wheels off the Zerg and just allow outnumbered players themselves to scale up into being Elite Rank or even Champions (along with champion l00t upon defeat) if that’s what it takes to thin out the Zergs finally ….and most of all: break this constant cycle of every little patch screwing up things b/c something affected culling or graphics or framerates or how much damage/mitigation can be stacked when you clump 100 people into a 4ft by 4ft square….
And, while it isn’t an entirely new map, you can look forward to some changes to the borderlands soon. Let’s just say you should get your krait killing in now.
WvW updates
We feel that Krait have acquired too much of a negative image due to their lack of a player-friendly faction till now, so we switched it up a bit and instead of collecting pearls for Quaggans, you collect Quaggans for Krait now.
best change ever
And do you, dear reader, believe characters can be cursed (or blessed) at creation?
No.
^ Obvious “all Blessed characters” when it comes to RNG rolls.
GRATZ SIR! It must be nice :p
I think this is a good idea. The opposite of an over flow zone. That would be very cool, not sure how hard it would be to impliment.
That’s kind of the whole point… …it’s easy to implement b/c it was something they already did in the past. They have the code for it. Modifying their “Guesting” feature to bring it back could be done in a single afternoon I’d bet. …just figuring out the number to divide it up by though or how many different language districts to make room for would probably take them a lot longer. (b/c that wades into the “how many people is TOO many people per zone” and / “do we really want a bunch of frogs and limeys constantly at eachother’s throat b/c they have to share 1 district”…)
This reminds me of when people used to farm Maishang…
There’s always a more efficient farm that the newb zerg doesn’t know about.
Infact there was more profitable Farm than COF-1 that’s still mostly in tact right now…
meanwhile
…I’m GLAD the champ farm n00bs aren’t touching Grenth or most of the other Temples. They took over our Gates push that we were carefully setting up the "pre"’s for last night (while waiting for the rest of our Temple Team to show up) and that REALLY kitten ed some of our regulars off.
….then again, it never would have been a problem if Anet kept a closer Eye on event Scaling … especially when squishy NPC’s we can’t control are dying instantly to some incredibly broken Champ Jesters/Nobles… (or massive Well-spam that last way longer than 10 seconds)
We need “districting” back.
It’s just that simple…
Example: Is there only ~250 people in Sparkfly Fen, split across 12+ servers in the entire EU Region? …okay, then you only need 3 Districts tops. (mainly b/c all them Candians can help fill up the French one…)
(edited by ilr.9675)
Is this thread a joke? All I see is Vanye Vanye Vanye. No Dev clarification either.
At what point do they consider a poster guilty of Spamming and then lock a thread on those grounds too? Why have posting Standards at all if they’re not going to be enforced consistently? Why would the developers bother with a thread like this. The funny thing is if you go on the link the one of the posters in that clarification is YOU.
Wait… what are you talking about? What’d I do? I’m trying to stay OUT of this… yeah Anet and my own public involvement go back a long ways… 6 years now I think? …but I never took them to task for this Manifesto stuff that Mike insisted upon. When they were all over that a year or two ago, I was just wincing and looking the other direction. In some places I was actively warning new-fans not to buy the hype around it. B/c that was never the Anet I knew…
.
The Anet I knew, sold “Skills” in packs and Mercenary Heroes and all the extra storage they could host which were all major advantages that you simply couldn’t get from the boxed copies alone ..The Anet I knew took almost a year to fix Dancing Daggers and almost 2 to fix some Golden Gate map bug. The Anet I knew loved grinding and introduced as much as possible every chapter for some little damage bonus or skill-scaling bonus that you had to open the clunky title UI every time and then check on a tiny box to activate that bonus you had to grind half a million mob kills for. (and yes I was a Rank 8 Lightbringer).
…come to think of it…
the last thing I want is more more light shined on my comments there, I wouldn’t know anything about enhancing single client phasing with those methods…
(edited by ilr.9675)
And He can just keep taking that 15% out … I’m making back 5% everytime I use a WP.
Thanks Kiel!!
Posting in a Gua….

wow did that just happen???
I think I’ve seen it all now.

(edited by ilr.9675)
Nothing to see here, just some deleted words. innocent whistle
Anyway, it’s not a bug. It’s a feature.
Remember a time when risen abominations didn’t ae-slam, shoulderthrust through the zerg, risen wraith had no well of darkness (cough grenth temple defense event after the priest), risen gorilla didn’t play donkey kong throwing things at you, groundpound everyone close to death, risen ravagers chaos storm was a thing never to be seen, risen spider champions had no “egg sac infusion”, risen champion broodmothers were a meatbag to beat upon, .. you get the hint.
In short, this is all part of the design. Sure you won’t see a single patch note on the mentioned effects but it is obviously intended. The real problem, or BUG is that the events spawning those enemies are not accordingly rebalanced or at the very least that the objective does not scale.
That’s cute.
Now come back and sing the same some after beating it.
I’m not singing that song, that’s for sure… (and we did beat it).
I think Null nailed it… these Wells seem to be lasting a LOT longer than wells should ever last. Therefore this is definitely some kind of Bug.
This event is basically not fit for Human consumption … either that or the Rewards for it need to be improved by a Factor of 10 b/c it’s now several times harder than Karka.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Maguuma and NSP the only 2 open …. NOT BIG SURPRISE.
PS: NSP opened at 7pm…. you’ve got 90 minutes people…
Don’t wanna talk about how it happened though, it’s still ridiculously broken now.
(edited by ilr.9675)
My client seems stable now. Whatever they did in todays patch seems to have stopped my O.o.M. crashes (Out of Memory). I’m currently running multiple sessions of Chrome, FireFox, and have Photoshop open with a HUGE file in it with GW2 on top of GW hasn’t crashed yet.
Lowering Quality/Setting and making them as consistent as possible also may have helped too.
haha… never seen this, but whoever thought of it, props to you.
Not sure if they’d work, but I also saw people doing this with Zephyr Sanctum models all around the NPC’s in LOL’ins Arch.
Noooooooooooooo……
No more powercreep! just STOP IT.
don’t want to see anymore Zerker Powercreeping for atleast another year… for the love of all that is still good and decent in this game…
^that’s a pretty awesome mechanic… Now we just need a more skill-indexed version of it and it would be ready for GuildWars use.
I thought Trahearne was some dev ego made character.
Probably is… just like 2/3’s of the official Sonic Characters, and 100% of Fanfic characters.
…waiting for mounts to be added, you just know his will be a magic flying pony that talks
(edited by ilr.9675)
Not really if you like Gauntlet tickets and many green items then yes, outside of that no its still terrible RNG and mostly trash rewards.
^This… it’s just another powerball lottery and those people who are farming them will start to dwindle soon enough (except in Queensdale where they were doing this 24/7 even before Champs dropped Coffers/backpacks)
Should have been guaranteed t6 and lodestones imo.
This I disagree with….
Guaranteed Lodestones or even Cores is way too much. But guaranteed Slivers and Shards that could be crafted into Cores & Lodes wouldn’t be asking too much. And to improve Story-Dungeon participation, they could have “Binding Agents” randomly pop from those Chests. (and the champs guarding them). Infact ALL dungeon Elite trash mobs could also stand to have their Tables improved as well with more crafting stuff like Elonian Wine, Thread, and (very rarely:) Runes of Holding.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Good event: Escort that Druid Tree Spirit back to its husk and clear out the Hylek camping it. …Several Herb nodes spawn around it for harvesting.
Worthless Event: Everything else near it.
Good event: Escort Pact to Temple of Balthazar as of August 6th.
BAD Event: Escort Pact to Temple of Balthazar as of August 7th.
Good event: “Ogre wars” right outside Ebonhawke.
Crappy event: Wasp Soldier & Wasp Queen just north of that.
Crappy Events in general: Spawns multiple Champions that drop nothing but yet more RNG boxes with a 1-in-25 chance of actually having anything GOOD in them. RNG Grindwars needs to Die. Every single Skin, every single Rune & Core (from tons of little slivers & shards coming from EVERY single Champion coffer that drops) & Sigil … yes even PRECURSORS and their scav-hunt that’s taking way too long to be made …. all need to be CRAFTABLE and their component regularly coming from interesting Events that can’t just be “Zerged through”, but at the same time do not unfairly punish a zerg doing them by having Escort NPC’s in it that can’t be Rezzed and then cause it to fail when they get AOE’d by Champions.
I’m not a super experienced programmer, but I guarantee with one other person helping, they could change all of that around in 2 weeks and get it working right. And then if they had a public test server (and granted participants AP points for helping), they could have the entire thing 99.5% thoroughly tested by over 100,000 players in less than a month.
That’s what a real solution would look like to bringing DE’s back to where they belong.
There’s no shortage of great suggestions to fixing them… just a shortage of willingness on Anet’s part to actually use any of the great suggestions that are literally piled up around them.
(edited by ilr.9675)

Look at the top of this page for instance. …anyone else who was caught BACK TO BACK TO BACK “Chain” replying would be infracted for it.

Out of curiosity, has there been any discussion or word about lowering this below 15%? It just seems a bit high to me.
It’s high to you?
Where do you live, the Cayman Islands??
Until we see a rash of PUGers being regularly kicked and their slots sold… plus PROOF of it, there’s really nothing else to be said about this.
.
The exception up for discussion would then be to about how you fix it:
Simplest solution: If the kicked player made it through more than 50% of the Path before being kicked: then that player’s account is the one that gets 100% of the credit once the dungeon is completed and the Fillers only get 33% token/gold value, and NO credit towards Dungeon Master.
thx for the headsup, I wasn’t even buying these, just picking them as I wandered around orr the past month….
T5’s ehh?
I think most of us had already been doing this back during South Sun… Right?
If you were anything like me, your “Reserves” didn’t run out until about a week ago.
very funny thread. thanks guys.
OP contends that Zerkers use their 3-9 skills not just more often, but more effectively than players built to survive more than a single hit. ….I laughed pretty hard.
I contend that they’re actually less skilled because they play a special version of the game that’s easier than what a balanced team faces, simply because whatever they focus all their damage on, dies in half the time so they’re not facing enough exposure time for the fight to GET difficult in the first place. And Exposure MATTERS. “Resource Management”, MATTERS. Skill in using your 3-9 skills, doesn’t just come from frequency, but also timing and saving them for when they become the game changer. They don’t know what that’s like because the Mob is already dead before that game changer situation even happens.
In other cases, they don’t even fight most ‘Elite’ groups of mobs and instead run past them. When asked why, you’ll always get a bevy of half-truths about “well they’re beneath us” & “We’re just saving time, they give no decent drops anyway”. Some of which is true… But what they’re not telling you is that they also don’t have enough stamina to dodge every single attack by those mobs and their 3-9 skills don’t recharge fast enough either b/c all of those skills are balanced around a PvP minigame called “Conquest Mode”. …and not balanced around PvE. Thus they’ll often get downed repeatedly by those Elites, especially the tougher ones in AC, CM, Path2Arah, & a few other niche places that actually present more difficulty than COF/HotW/COE/SE do…
(edited by ilr.9675)
I think this forums needs a few more threads about Spider Boss For/Up…
every single line of the front page isn’t completely covered over by them yet.
HAHAHA OH WOW. … that would be hilarious if they WERE kicking puggers to do it tho
…does not mean that all of us are.
right, but your little self congratulatory rant doesn’t change the reality that the vast majority of them are still assuming the wrong role in this fight. Were you aware that additional pets in aggro range also cause additional AOE’ing from the Priest? (and most Dungeon bosses too like Lupi/Alpha/etc…)
For some of us… the 3gb switch makes Windows itself unstable.
I think I’ve heard experts on the topic refer to it as an AMD hardware Conflict.
…which is fine for you pure Intel guys I guess. But it doesn’t change the fact that these are still the “System Requirements” this game:
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1119/kw/system%20requirements
Many of us have Double those requirements, yet can’t even play anymore b/c of bad Memory Optimization that only gives regard to Win8 & Windows7 64bit users.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Previously, the event failed after X Pact NPC deaths. This meant that if you revived one of the NPCs, you could actually bring the event closer to failure if the NPC died again, so it was better to leave any dead NPCs behind and never revive them. It’s now based on the current total living Pact members, if they’re all dead at once, the event fails, but reviving the NPCs will cause the morale meter to rise. As long as one Pact NPC is alive, the event keeps running.
Okay, then what is your response then to the FACT that anything within a 1200 unit radius to where a Champ Jester throws its Bombs, will die instantly? Did you guys actually test this with more than 20 people in a 5000 unit radius to the event? I find it very hard to believe you ever succeeded that test since we in the Dungeon community are well aware of how your Alpha tests typically go (IE: only 5 people in QA can usually do MOST of the harder content regularly added to the game). …yet you’d expect 30-50 people who aren’t even in TS together, much less the same room together, to pull it off?
…And that still wouldn’t explain what’s happening with these Vet Plaguers in the Balthazar Escort… What gives? Is all of this stuff really intentional or was it WIP changes that made it into the patch earlier than anticipated? (and thus not fully tested)
(edited by ilr.9675)
…. Quality is probably more important than quantity, but it has been sorely lacking. That this year’s content actively undermines the core game content, rather than supporting it, sadly means that the game would probably have been better off with nothing than what was actually produced.
I have to second this, purely on the basis that most of Orr has been getting ruined with more Bugs than usual the past month. Bugs that would not have made it to release with Open Testing and actual attention to PvE balance.
Northern Pact route has been bugged since mid-July
The Priestess of Dwayna fight can now make some players physically SICK
GRENTH was also made a lot more difficult with absolutely no explanation for it.
Most Escorts also now scale improperly, IE: the NPC’s do NOT scale up with the Mobs.
The final “Big D.E. chain Event” (that was the Pinnacle of this game’s Event system at launch) Pact escort was also just effectively “removed from game”… just last night…
- https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Temple-of-Balthazar-event-impossible/
^this thread documents both issues (Chan, & Balth escorts)
If you’re not going to make the NPC’s themselves immune to AOE’s, then simply don’t make these changes in the first place. These changes are not in any way tied to “skill” and the Gw2 Manifesto on self-reliance (iow: “no Healers” required).
…
…on top of this, WvW Damage & CC “Visual Queues” have also become massively Glitched making the entire game mode unplayable for many.
This did get a response, however it was just a dismissive response and not a response that actually showed research and understanding of the issue.
… All of this together is very disappointing because it takes content that WAS somewhat rewarding prior to this patch(s), and makes it require 3x the effort while risking roughly 3x the Failure rates it used to have. One possible explanation for this might have been that we’re now getting “Coffers” from Champions… However if the RNG drop rates for everyone else, are anything like mine:
http://home.comcast.net/~ill_er/GW/coffers_8-8.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~ill_er/GW/coffers_8-8_value.jpg
…then it’s actually resulting in a NET LOSS in player income now when the entire premise & promise of the Blog Post was to make the content more rewarding again (even if a bit more difficult).
Not only that, but I CAN’T EVEN PLAY THE GAME NOW without crashing every 5 minutes when attempting Group Content with other people.
This is why I’m angry right now. I NEVER got angry at you ArenenaNet… during the 7 years of GW1. ….I got close to getting angry after spending 2 entire days failing Magni the Bison b/c you guys balanced it so poorly that only a Spirit Spam Ritualist could solo it when not every one of us actually owned a copy of Factions. But I didn’t get angry like I am right now, and the reason I’m angry is because your update and all the bugs that came with it; are not just ruining my daily routine and my progress, but it’s ruining the enjoyment of all the People I did these huge Meta events with.
We should be in full swing right now, it’s 6pm and we’d usually be rolling right through this content, supporting eachother & cracking wise in mapchat while just generally enjoying the ride. Not getting frustrated the whole time trying to figure out WHY it got broken in the first place and watching our best allies slowly give up on it in disgust. ….or in my case, not even bothering to Log in today.
This is not at all how I expected to be celebrating GW2’s first year. I’m pretty sure it’s not how you guys expected to be celebrating it either. Maybe it’s not even Anet’s fault, maybe your content team is just following the Marching orders from NCsoft and the Nexon people who took controlling share in it. I’m not gonna comment on that beyond the belief that I’m pretty sure, even those guys, nomatter how far they might be towards the “Lawful Evil” distinguisher on the good old RPG Chart of Alignment … I’m pretty sure even they, are always in favor of actually selling a functioning product that keeps working even when there’s large updates to it.

TL;DR summary: Y U BRAEK EVRYTING 2 MAKE D.R. FARM??
yep… when completing it, I just stayed at long range and turned my head away from my monitor and let auto attack do most of the work. Not a good idea though since there’s a lot of AOE’s being summoned under everyone too so you have to keep watching but it’s a little painful to do so.
