If it was intended to be insanely hard, it would have changed to what it’s doing on August 6th, not August 7th after a very small HotFix for some other unrelated issues.

In any case, this variation of “insanely hard” is not acceptable either way since the Pact NPC’s can not be steered around the Well spam. No Zerg group in the entire game has the ability to do that. I’m not even sure that interrupting the Vets does anything at all to stop it. And we know that all Vets are also suppose to have telegraphs/cooldowns on their biggest nastiest skills. There doesn’t appear to be any sort of balancing mechanism on these. That definitely is a bug.

Dungeon Rewards should have been

ALright so lets try stick to the topic.

Dungeon path rewards were said to have been decided with consideration of “length” and “difficulty” which was confirmed on the live stream on 5th August. However their changes reflected neither. Lets say length: Cof p1 is not the same length as HoTw p3. Lets say difficulty: AC p3 is not the same difficulty as Arah p3.

My question to you all is, is there any form of thinking that could have allowed them to decide these rewards? Are they planning on changing it?

Not disagreeing with that or trying to sidetrack from it. Just pointing out that giving Gold equal to the effort was never their intent to begin with. If it was, then there would be increased drop rates of EVERY commodity in these dungeons to better incentivize doing them normally instead of just skipping past all the mobs you’re not absolutely required to fight.

This entire update was just one cleverly disguised Rewards Nerf all-around.

Well OP could just think of it this way:

…Less gold given out to you… is also less gold given out to everyone else competing against you for that same exact Precursor and all the other mats that have to be crammed onto it to make it legendary…

Whether the OP recognized it or not, he was in a race with everyone else using the same vehicle as him, and the race track was only getting longer and longer…

What we had there was called an Open Economy instead of a closed-loop one.
It’s still not actually closed yet, but it’s not nearly as open as it was… thus the price of the components you WANT for that legendary, will not continue to just go up and up and up every month while your Gold Farm gives you only a fixed amount of income. Now BOTH values are a bit more permanently fixed in place. (and will probably drop by 300% once the Scavenger Hunt is finally added to the game)

Every skilled player in DIFFERENT gear, is not OP. A skilled player in Sentinel’s is completely wasting their Skill potential. They already had evades & interrupts and dodging to deal with most of the slow attacks every mob in the game puts out roughly 2 seconds apart. When you get REALLY good, you can actually anticipate when the next big Skill is coming b/c they use it upon recharge usually. This is the FACTS that you can not argue against. You are not allowed, to say that Defense combats the overall timesink of the PvE game at the same level that pure Offense does currently. Defense quickly hits a point of diminshing returns.

Do you understand what a diminishing return is?

Not really… since almost every single encounter is always a DPS race with well rehearsed Dodges & Refelcts for the occasional “big hit”. That is the entire point of this thread and all the Math the OP was determined enough to estimate out. …or did you just kind of glaze over that section?


…It basically states, that the more damage you put out, the sooner the fight ends.
IOW: less Big Hits you have to dodge, thus the less Defense/Healing needed in the first place… This ISN’T true in PvP, and Anet said they didn’t want everyone having to learn 2 completely different games to transition from one to the other, yet here’s all their PvE encounters … nothing like PvP with its constant DPS counters (& bunkers that still rule most of the meta)

Well that’s still a bug then… All Vets have their most powerful summons on long Cooldowns. And we were interrupting them. If they’re casting these, then it looks like they could even be bypassing any casting Animations to summon them and then also bypassing Cool-Downs which is a lot worse. Not even most champions do that. Not even the Priest of Balth himself puts out damage fields that quickly… Let’s assume the 1 in my Video was being chain stunned while the other one wasn’t. That was still 6 identical MASSIVE wells all put out by 1 single Veteran with less than 15 players present at the time.

So yeah this definitely points to an AI/Skill scripting issue since it wasn’t in last night when the bulk of the Patch went out.

The huge DPS Gap … which turns into a Damage Mitigation gap too (nicely illustrated, O.P.) … would become a major Detriment in any fight where mobs had the same levels of Retribution we faced everyday in WvW. …along with CC’able support Adds that cast prots on them like S-Bond and Angelic …or if they gained a lot more Stacks of Enrage and Dealt back damage FASTER & equal to what they’re taking like Shiro used to…. lots of ways to put real risk back into equation here ppl…

I’m tired of gold. I wanna put supply back into the market. Something other people can actually use. Like Thread/Herbs, Blood, and T6’s & stuff… But the only way to do that is farm in a tiny little circle somewhere out in open PvE until D.R. kicks in. There’s nothing social about that either. …oh hey but I just got some Champion Coffers in Orr though, that’s kinda almost from teamwork… Let me unbox those right now b/c Colin said they’d contain Materials we’d really like … and maybe some cores/rares…

If you play dungeons, there isn’t an issue. You can play cross server.

There’s been a lot more desynchs in cross server dungeon groups.
We’ve exited the dungeon to bring new people in or start a new path but then half of them can’t get back in again. It’s not as bad as it was around release, but it’s still happening when trying to cross-server.

Actually we’re seeing the same lack of … umm … ANYTHING resembling “support” in all the PvE forums too… except for the Living Story one I guess? I dunno, I don’t actually play any of that content so I have no idea what they’re even talking about.

All I know, is the content this game shipped with, isn’t working anymore. It doesn’t matter if it’s WvW or PvE. All that end game stuff we bought the game for originally, is getting broken now.

…It was not doing this Last night. This only started happening after the latest “HotFix”

If this is in anyway intentional… then Anet needs to make NPC’s immune to AOE’s otherwise this is literally impossible without some kind of advanced Flagging functionality like we had for our Heroes in GW1.

I’m honestly angry at this point.
Last year the game started off terrific. Who cares if all the WoW kiddies got bored within the first 3 weeks and ran back as soon as their Pandas&Pokemon expansion came out? That’s the way it should have stayed. Not slowly being contorted into a l00t treadmill ever since Fractals and everything else in that vein were forced into it.

Gw1 kept simple. We’d get a mini for each Alt, and all the Cupcakes we could find.
And we could STACK those cupcakes with whatever hell other Consumes we wanted.

I want that back. Not this …. Zynga iPad App that not even Dhuum would curse upon us…

I’m talking about the original game and how it was so much better than this.
Even the first couple months of this game, you could see them actually CARING about fixing bugs and especially bugged D.E.‘s and Dungeons. They’re not even doing that much anymore. If you don’t have an Account issue tied to the GemShop, they just don’t care about you anymore. (Well Gaile does but there’s only 1 Gaile…)

Update: Someone or some ones seemed to have gotten Chan all the way to Anchorage in one piece (on our server). Would be great if the people who’ve done it, could report their findings. And any details on what their build or team make up was along with how many Players may also have been in the general vicinity. (EG: what time of day it was… population sample for instance). Thanks!

If they’re going to greatly increase the Total Ram required to play only 1 year after release (I think Minecraft did this too maybe?) …then they have to change their Official REQUIREMENTS and offer all of us who bought it some kind of compensation here.

What I think is happening… that they took the Lazy route here of splitting up Low and High resolution Resources by having your Client load BOTH SETS AT THE SAME TIME for “real time” optimization scaling and to avoid hitching & pre-fetching while transitioning from one set of Texture/Models to the other in a big Fight.

That’s understandable… for 64bit users. But they should have included some means of keeping all Particle/Model resources consistent for the rest of us who don’t have more than 2gb to actually dedicate wholly to any 1 program. I have 4gigs on SP3 for example which means I get what… ~600mb of physical for OS and another 1.5 for GW2 (after my Video Card resources hogs the other free Gig of Motherboard ram for no godkittened reason at all…. screw Bill Gates and the insane Steve Ballmer he rode in on)

HEADS UP FOR PEOPLE DOING GRENTH.

Either the Priest’s HP’s were increased to scale a lot higher…. or there’s just a ton more Shades spawning now. …ether way, I think this is going to have to be re-strategized a bit with basically Rangers & Guardians or other classes that have good Evading & Immunity without using Stealth (Thieves should stay on Grenth’s side). Rangers especially who contribute almost nothing to killing the Priest anyway, should bring increased HP while downed Foods. Berserk Nukers could also be helping them cull the Shade spawns by hiding up in those little Alcoves a couple of the Tombs are in (the Shades don’t seem to be able to Path to you in those little nooks).

I thought they fixed the Noble well? If you scout in advance and get their aggro you can avoid them getting on the NPC’s

Ironically enough, there doesn’t appear to be any Up-scaling on the Balthazar escort where Nobles were the worst problem. …thank goodness… Infact I had the usual 9 or 10 of them shadowstep to me first last night and they only took 40% of my HP’s instead of the usual 95% they often do….

I’m going to be on NSP for a few hours here after this posting trying to figure out what’s happening with Chan Kun in the mean time. If this is a consistent pattern with most escorts in the game though, then Houston we have a problem and we either need ways for individual players to click on individual NPCs and say “Stay with me to be Safe!” and “Wait here” like we could do with them in Gw1 …. Or their Ranks or atleast HP’s also need to scale up to survive multiple adjacent champions mobs …. Or the nuclear option: Just make them immune to AOE’s like our Pets also should have been from the very beginning :p

And their PvE team & Dungeon team only cares about RNG boxes & Heavy classes.

None of those, I want to be a Forgotten. They had the best Monks in the game.
…and the quickest path for casuals in Arah.

None, I am not into furries.

All of the original races of Tyria were 1 of 2 things:

  • Anthro….morp…. whatever the hell, CRITTER PEOPLE.
  • Giants with Totemistic or Beastial cultural affinities

Infact if you get a better look at the Giganticus Lupicus, it LOOKS like a combination between an Ogre, and a Jackal … which I think is literally what the name roughly translates to in broken Latin…

The Humans… and the Gods that brought them here, are actually the “Aliens” to this world. Go ahead and look it up in the Lore. It’s all there :p

Why mobs hit so hard?

“Control Characters” … This is not an animal that actually exists in PvE.

ALL of our controls are basically built around sPvP Bunker-Ball spiking. CC, even in s{PvP} is not designed around Defense, it’s designed Gw1’s meta of waiting for Pressure to build enough until the other team’s healers either “Lose it for them” by making a mistake, or your team fakes them out on where your Focus fire is and then you quickly spiked the real target you were after all along. It’s like a high stakes Poker game, the skill is in the timing, resources, and bluff.

So for PvE, and defensive CC especially, we would need Skill-Split controls with either much longer durations: 5 or 6 seconds instead of 1-2… or quicker recharges bringing 40sec & 25sec controls CD’s down to 20 & 12 seconds like in Gw1’s PvE splits… (there was HUNDREDS of split skills in Gw1 by the way and no one ever complained about having to learn 2 different sets of skills b/c you already HAD TO LEARN 2 completely different games and Metas just to go from PvE to PvP anyway)

It’s not the Stats or the the “players” that are broken, it’s the Content itself.

I take it you joined a zerker group.

Well given that they’re quickly becoming the only groups left….

…yes process of elimination does work that way (especially when Anet openly penalizes the Mechanics of everything else that isn’t Zerker)

We need right now, is more accurate Population POLLING at the transfer screen.

Anet’s cooking the numbers by apparently only using Peak Value Logins or something lame. You can tell b/c every single server shows the same exact population @ 5pm Primetime that it shows at 5am in the morning. That’s a big fat lie and they need to stop big fat lying about it (just to keep their stupid Gem costs up on Transfers)

CoF1 accounts for like ALL of the gold creation in this game. No amount of changed rewards will be an increase over CoF1.

There are 40 members in my guild who earn 70g a day from CoF1.

32 Bit will actually crash somewhere around 1,250,000K allocated to GW2 sometimes … (I’m runnig with TaskMon proc values in my other monitor).

And now I’m seeing it spiking into the 1.3gb and 1.4gb Range after only just loading it 5 minutes ago. IT NEVER DID THIS BEFORE. This is either a massive MEM leak, or they added a ton of BS to the kernal that now makes it completely incompatible with 32bit OS’s. Most zones are now taking Twice as long to load as they used to, yet I’m not SEEING any new resources in-game around me yet.

On my system it always used to hover around 900,000 KB… now it’s going WAY over that. …for no apparent reason BTW. Would like to see an official response from Anet about this. It’s the main reason I quit Planetside also.

Crashing every 10 minutes now. Not exactly 10 minutes, but more like everytime a tons of Skill Spam all goes off at once from lots of other people nearby

Windows XP pro… (yes 32bit). It didn’t crash like this BEFORE THE PATCH.

Try Gates of Arah now // Warmaster Chan if you don’t know what I’m Talking about.

We now effectively have ALL event mobs scaling up to Champions… including Nobles and Jesters who 1-shot every NPC who gets near them. This could potentially make Escorts impossible because the NPC’s don’t scale up in rank like the Mobs do.

Did Anet actually TEST THIS?

Is it intended to make Zerging impossible?
And what about events where there’s a Zerg nearby?
Are they also scaling based on players who are up to 3000 or even 5000 units away??

Sorry but no…

What you are describing is going back to the old tank/dps/heal/support roles and thats a step back.

We already have that actually…. If you and everyone in your party only ever wears Berserker, then you’d never noticed it b/c the stats don’t effect Aggro as much as say…. a Guardian in a PVT using a Staff does (Bosses go crazy for that kitten, their Aggro algorithm just eats it up)

So yes, the AI already is capable of fixating and Lupicus especially will almost always do this. It’s actually part of almost every guide written about him, that he will divide aggro between 2 out of the 5 Players. When I’m my Full Cleric Guardian, he will usually focus me with the ShadowStep, light bolts cone, & Barf-Bubble. When on my “Shaman’s/Valk” Ranger he will usually focus me with his Heavy homing double bolt & the LifeTransfers.

.

The problem is that there’s really nothing that changing the AI would do when it comes to Berserker meta. Berserkers will just buy TruffleMeat Stew in bulk instead and just dodge more often until the Boss is dead in its usual record time. What really needs to happen is more Adds that cast good old Gw1 protection skills that combat pure physical pressure along with some of Shiro’s BS that also combated mindless DPS’ing. The Mobs should also have a lot more Boon Stripping. I hate that… everyone hates mobs that AOE steal all your boons (with a long telegraph though)… As a Prot-Monk, Chilblains was the BANE of my existence. But it needs to happen anyway. More bosses also need to gain stacks of “Enrage” when the DPS they’re taking breaches a certain threshold.

It’s heavy handed, but when it comes to the Zerker Fo Lyfe crew, numbers are all they listen to. Change the numbers?…Change their attitudes

If you are using gear that buffs your own stats without helping the team (toughness and vitality as examples) then you are being selfish. How hard is that to understand?

Yeah, cause not being glass and going down all the time is so not helping anything. Pretty tired of picking up zerkers off the ground all the time cause they can’t deal with a fart wafting in their direction.

This is also pretty common. … I join tougher Dungeons all the time through LFG.com which almost always DOES provide you with more skilled players in general than simply joining mapchat ones in LA on most servers

but here’s the catch…

They’re not Flawless. NO ONE IS. (nor is Colesy). Even though a lot of them are even better than my own Guild Teams (and this is a guild that uses TS & does WvW all day long… they’re great players too) …they still make mistakes. They still get downed from lag or unexpected boss 2-shots or aggro just plain being really random at times. But hey, when they’re already all in melee together, they can all just press “F” at the same time and it’s like nothing ever happened. I’ve stacked on Lupi in Melee, it works. It’s kinda gimmicky, but it does work. …and it probably needs some tweaking by Anet infact … I love melee, but there should be times when you want to swap weapons and back off for a minute….

So…
The only place this doesn’t consistently happen… some people getting downed… is in COF1 (b/c it’s actually EASIER than any of the Story Modes in the entire game), and in Guild Speed Clears by guilds who do nothing but that 1 run until they get the Rote Memory portion down to a science. …THEN they can all run Zerkers & stack in melee and no one ever gets downed if they were atleast half awake. And I think it’s pretty clear as of this particular update, that Anet doesn’t think that kind of clearing …is healthy or worthy of constant rewards.

They’re slowly reaching the point of being a combination of Jane Austin caricatures and Dic_kensian Villains, steeped in pomp and circumstance while spitting upon the wretched PvE urchins at every available opportunity as if they were accruing achievements for it.

From what I recall WvW’ing against TC, they do indeed have their crap together without the Zerg-or-Nothing binary status of JQ. …I’m not sure if Maguuma runs temples but they would also be worth looking into for sheer coordination/skill & Numbers on top of that. There’s also NSP which takes temples quite seriously, but it’s definitely not a WvW contender currently.

Yeah your point is being made tangentially, but you’re exaggerating the math.
Good luck forging all those blues and greens into rares or making lvl 67+ salvageable rares out of tiny fangs…

Actually no… this is consistent with most PARAGON nerfs they also made years ago.
They pretty much to do it to every single AoE skill that could have a conditional “Proc” put on top of it. (Especially DeepWound & Burning procs)

…maybe they should be IN GAME instead arguing these points with the masses (and beating them if they think their ranger build is anything close to meta’ble)
