This Cracks me up too….
Now I wanna go dig up that thread here 3 weeks ago about Staff Guard.
yes, I’m primarily a Staff guard and it never got me kicked out of any Arahs or COE’s :p
(I’m not saying it’s good, it’s actually HORRIBLE… but meh, I RP a lot in Elite content)
Although the idea behind this is funny, those guys are spamming like that for farming groups, not a dungeon group.
right, but it’s for a gold farm to replace COF1… so I think the coincidence (I’m not using that other word b.c. I don’t want to get arrested by the Irony police) here is that many people expected these n00bs to branch out and finally learn how to do tougher dungeons. ….lulz… mmm hmm…
Also you can’t zerg the Pre-Event for it, you have to cut your party down to 4 “Optimized” players (plus the one moron who’s AFK’s in meddler’s liek a bag of kittens) or it will auto-spawn Champion Jesters & Champion Nobles who insta-kill the escort NPC’s.
.
The great thing about this though is that you can actively disrupt it and then the Studio Exec Producer will congratulate you for it while 100’s of QQ’ing baddies attempt to report you for Trolling/Botting & a bunch of other falsehoods.

I bought most of mine @ 20s … & 1 at 1g (the coat). …only a few days ago.
So I dodged the bullet too. I won’t say how I knew time was running out though…
The reason why they also introduced recipes for each armor piece instead of only introducing recipes for the insignias/inscriptions/jewels is simple.
The main source of getting those recipes was through Zapphire Sanctum Supply boxes.
You could either use 10 fortune scraps to buy one box or crafting materials.
They were used by Anet to drain some of the oversupply of some crafting materials, like t5 silk and leather.
By forcing you to not only obtain the insignia recipe but also a recipe for each armor piece, they tried to to drain more of these materials out of the economy.
Understood, but it Failed…. just Spidey those commodities and notice how they barely even took a hit. The reason is b/c most of us gave up after opening our 20th box only to find 1 single Recipe that was worth more than 1.3s. (but required a whole stack of those in some cases to procure). That’s not a good gamble. Infact It’s a Guaranteed massive LOSS until there’s a way to manipulate & price-fix the supply.
Neither one of these approaches is anything Anet should be condoning.
They’re borderline villainous infact.
Now.. if we had just been able to Reroll them in the Mystic Forge, then MAYBE things could have equalized out better. But since we can’t…. it’s a done deal at this point.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Heh… I got it.
Does beg the question, of WHY they just added new Runes/Sigils to craft (that were buggy, surprise surprise) instead of just adding Recipes for the ones most people actually WANT.
The trading post is a set of offers. When you state to sell or buy something you state you’re willing to trade or buy at that price. Economically, I see no fault with the current system and how well it functions, I see no market failures and no effect on velocity of trading.
That being said, is the argument that undercutting is negative because it’s inconvenient and the value people are undercutting as a % is inconsequential?
Or is the argument that undercutting is a side effect of some other issue?
Or both or neither?
Anything that forces people with too much wealth to have to relist for a lower price, is a good thing I’d argue. And not just because it’s a gold sink. There’s some economic & pseudo-ethical psychology to it as well. (just like when I carelessly use Ranger’s Sword #2 a little too close to a Ledge…)
The individual isn’t important for what you’re attempting to learn, only the aggregate.
I beg to differ… Both the Fortune and the Folley of isntant trading & Computer Networks in general is that other end of the Bell Curve always goes beyond 2nd to 3rd power Exponential when it comes to disparity (And thus, Manipulation and Influence). There’s real Math behind it too in our real economy where Disparity is pretty bad but its not nearly as pronounced as it is in GW2… (Atleast not what people imagine it to be)
Gold don’t really last in GW2 , we have alot of sinks and even more coming soon…with the measly 100s of gold i got from him , i still can’t afford what i want lolol
The reason you can’t afford this stuff is because the Cycle of inflation hasn’t stopped since last August when hardcore farming first started… It’s a total mystery that Gem prices are still as low as they are.
(edited by ilr.9675)
There might be later tonight around 4-7 pm (PST …or 2-4 hours from this posting) … don’t get your hopes up though, it all depends on how many people in the Zerg STOP screwing around with nuking the harmless regular minions that spawn, and instead change their build to CC’ing rotation to chain stun the 2 Vets…
It basically takes a guild on TeamSpeak together to see that level of coordination in every attempt of it.

Why don’t Anet remove the random champions and put them on the temples events chain?
We’ve been wondering this since Launch…. Why are most “Dynamic events” just off on their own completely detached from every event around them in most zones with a 10 minute reset? They’re not dynamic at all when they’re just always …. THERE … waiting to be repeated instantly while leaving the completers of them with zero sense of actual completion and even less rewards.
Why are some them just pure time sinks? IE: Hold this area for 10 minutes before you can actually push to the next event in the chain? If your Push fails then you have to go back to Garrison duty again for 10 more minutes?? Or worse like Balt’s Pre’s: you have to almost start over entirely b/c holding the Landing points takes 3x the effort and manpower than capturing them in the first place took?
I could go on naming a ton of other World Boss events & other Pre-events and let’s be honest here: Static Events that everyone avoids…. but if they haven’t shown the least bit of interest in our details & feedback about those this whole year (instead choosing to just make new Temporary stuff every couple weeks), then there’s no sense in dragging the point out longer
(edited by ilr.9675)
It kitten ed me off the other day, all this champion farm because, I was working on completing the Balthazar temple event with 10 players or so. The escort to main event just started, and what few people that were doing the event, suddenly RUSHED to kill a random champion giant nearby, and event failed before it started.
Sadly, it was for the better ….you guys wouldn’t have gotten very far, Balt is broken:
http://youtu.be/BfnKq_PlXUc
They say they want to reward you guys for Events succeeding, but most of these “Main Spectacle” events they’ve Uptuned in Orr after this patch are now several degrees harder than they were last month with Rewards that aren’t keeping pace with the current Inflation rate. They’re also ignoring most of the bug reports about this area too. …It’s no wonder all the cynics choose to bandwagon onto the next Farm-of-the-Month instead. Words are nice, but so far actions have all been working AGAINST the casual legitimate players atleast as much as they’ve been levied against the abusers…
They spent 5 years creating all this space which 99% of it is void of any player activity.
Waste of time and money.
Solution: Underflow servers.
w0rd
if they don’t do this soon, they’re going to need to bring back Heroes just to compensate for the depressing lack of bodies in 90% of these areas.
man I feel like everything I did today was 50% Boneheaded…. even when drunk I’m pretty sure I play better than I did today sober.
Welcome if I get banned for it, then the Dev that was out there helping me should too.
FYI
Snowcrash = Chris Whiteside = Guild Wars 2 Studio Design Director
He’s a pretty big wheel down at the cracker factory.
BAN HIM
lol Firy
there ya go OP, maybe it was just a Typo?
Heh^
But there’s also Farmvillion going & the Ember Abuse and don’t forget the Frost gourge kitten cicle… so it also stands to reason there’s less people doing most other things right now b/c they don’t want to get left behind
The problem from the beginning was the drop tables themselves
You’d get like 20 insignias usually for every 1 single “Draconic” or “Emblazed” recipe.
ZS coming back later won’t fix that…
I’m more worried about the Deteriorating Attitudes I’ve seen in game than I am of about economy itself. The Economy can rebound after a while. The Hate and Hostility between farmers and event runners and the general all time low Morale of D.E. teams… I dunno if they’re ever gonna be the same after this
This is why it’s now Closed most of the time on most servers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfnKq_PlXUc
They are robbing rare drop slots from chests and serve no purpose other than that…
I think you mean the Pavillion Tickets are robbing those slots.
Atleast the Support Tokens are actually WORTH SOMETHING at vendors
We don’t need “another epic battle”, we need the first one to actually be epic!
^that too… The Zhaitan story dungeon is way too Filler-loaded and padded out when all they needed to do was just make a bigger version of Nightfall’s final battle
….has anyone even done the Abbadon fight in the last few years? It got MASSIVELY buffed and makes the Fight right before it against Shiro look easy as pie… I have to change every single skill bar on all my Heroes just to beat it now when it used to be a total face roll.
Failing to complete an event is not an exploit. You can continue to try and label it such but it is not and just make you look foolish no matter what kind of spin you are trying to put on it just to make yourselves look right.
While I don’t want to argue with your opinion. I will say this, a similar argument was given for the Champion Risen Giant farm on the steps up to Arah that went on for awhile a month or two ago. Look what became of that. I won’t proclaim to know that Anet changed it because they saw it as an exploit, but none-the-less it was changed. That says something.
Just because something is changed doesn’t mean it’s an exploit. Anet just wanted to alter it so that the gold/loot acquisition rate is ‘normalized’ with the rest of the game. Anet has a vested interest in making sure gold is not easy to acquire.
ON THE OTHER HAND…. just b/c something is not the text book example of an Exploit (IE: getting inside the world geometry), doesn’t exclude it from still being GRIEFING or ban-worthy.
If you’re completely halting and actively BLOCKING the progress of other player’s events, then you are actually yes indeed griefing their completion of the event. This event especially since it’s actually very difficult to prevent it from succeeding once it gets to the Cauldrons…. hence why we’re seeing record levels of Verbal Abuse and other unsavory tactics by the Abusers of this event, which most definitely IS ban worthy. (read half of Gaile’s posts in the Dev tracker if you don’t believe that they take it very seriously).
Furthermore, look at the Karma-Resale “exploit” that was used the first Week the game launched which wasn’t even blocking anyone else’s progress but made what John Smith defines as a “Loop” in profits where you could almost endlessly procure a cheap item and then sell it for many many many times its effort. It still resulted in TONS of BANS ….Under specific conditions here with the Cauldrons, a similar amount of effort is being applied in order to generate massive amounts of … well things I shouldn’t mention b/c it might only lead to even more people jumping on the farmwagon.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Claw Island wasn’t bad I guess
It was for me….
I’m pretty convinced it was Anet’s most Elaborate trolling since April1 2007
I dont think Bot use things as simple as macro…
No but Anet’s definition of “Botting” DOES. …I know what ya mean though, IOW: “hooking” into the DLL’s to create your own A.I. entity that controls your character. I’ve actually seen one who’s probably still running around the back of Fort Trinity right NOW … and it is soooo advanced… that I’m not even sure I want to Report it yet. If I do, it’ll be to tell Anet to find the guy who Programmed it and HIRE HIM to improve their own A.I. b/c it’s just amazing how effective this thing is at avoiding direct DPS spam. And it probably appears so lifelike to everyone else that they wouldn’t even realize it’s a bot that’s literally there 24 hours out of the day. It also probably provides atleast 10% of all the lemon grass supplied into the economy every week during events that draw players away from zones like these.
(edited by ilr.9675)
The best solution I see for this,is to
tie the loot to the completion of the DEs.
Yeah I like this Solution a LOT BETTER than just time-gating every single Champ.
B/c keep in mind, like the Temple of Melandru or setting up the Cannon outside Grenth …. sometimes they respawn the same Champion on us multiple times and not getting any rewards the 3rd or 4th time you have to kill it is just lame in general b/c you’re actually Required to kill that champ multiple times in order to keep it from reaching the Aetherizer (or the objecive gets destroyed & causes the event to fail)
(edited by ilr.9675)
Can’t you just go to another zone? They’re only doing this in 2 zones right now and the champs in other starter zones are just as easy to solo
^Yeah I do a similar thing with mine where I have the CLIENT-SIDE modifier for pushing “Free Camera” for a split second while the Server action is the 180 turn…. It’s really useful for this kind of movement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N426fJIt-AQ
Botting macros go a good ways beyond that by including exact time delays and multple presses of those buttons in specific sequences.
(edited by ilr.9675)
It’s not an exploit. People are trying very, very hard to complete the event. But it’s too difficult.
The only hard part (b/c Anet broke the rules on Scaling this patch) is the Chan escort itself. Once it gets to the Ember stage, it’s almost impossible to Fail. I know b/c I have to beat that Stage every single day at… || ({Time Redacted} b/c we don’t want ours also getting ruined by Farmers) || …And I have to do it on a time limit. Anyone who’s decent at soloing could Solo the Champion. And killing the Cauldrons is even easier if you just climb up on the Dome where the Vista is …I actually log out my ranger up there ahead of time so I can transition instantly to downing those pots once my guardian gets Chan there in one piece
(edited by ilr.9675)
Gotta love how Anet locked the last thread about this saying it was an ACCUSATORY thread as if this sort of thing is somehow not an Abuse of D.E. Design when they had just gotten done Patching the Giant on the Promenade out from spawning endless waves of L00t-dropping mobs as well… (and no, it’s not different at all this time, Steve)
Makes ya wonder if their moderators even read their own patch notes :p
I’d just be happy to get any kind of actual LORE, or PLOT at this point.
It doesn’t have to be Jormag or Kralk or (better yet) Primordus…
I’d rather see it actually build towards something. No one honestly gives a crap about keeping the Charr from fighting with Humans. The Norn were always plenty happy to be fighting with the Charr. And the Charr obviously loved fighting humans. Look at the way Pyre always toyed with Gwen, he was obviously enjoying it… And that’s what fun plot looks like. It has real history behind it and a real future ahead of it.
…at this rate…
Instead of actual guild wars type storyline we’re going be seeing those annoying chain CC’spamming Aether nerds team up with with fail ninjas from cantha so then we’ll just have a buncha zombies and pirates and ninjas all day and only 1 of them ever drops Charged stones. ZZzzzz …I miss the “GuildWars Beyond” content we used to get b/c that gave guaranteed rewards along the whole storyline which even gave people who don’t care about story or lore some reason to do it anyway. Staggered Rewards + Plots >>> RNG + random Festivals
(edited by ilr.9675)
I don’t use it … I don’t have a single point in that line infact.
If you want an example of classes with bad Trait balance (or lack of compression), there’s MUCH better examples than Guardian. Guardian is the only class that’s still totally OP in all 3 modes of the game.
If you HAVE to use that specific trait synergy to play the game to the best of your ability on an already overpowered class, then guess what that’s called …
…
.
…A Crutch :p
Yeah I can’t believe I’m agreeing with Colesy either … but it’s a crutch. …deal
PS: This really didn’t belong in General Disc either … that’s strike 3
(edited by ilr.9675)
Well thank you kindly! … But GWC deserves most of the Credit here for not giving up on it for good like I wanted to …And of course he’s the one who disseminates the Info in-game so that everyone eventually understands what to do.
..and if it doesn’t get addressed…
..and remains one of those things that just stays broken with no explanation, well the documentation on it here will not just fall out of sight and thus out of mind.
Eventually they’re going to have lot more than just 20-30 very annoyed players on one or two servers. This is tied directly to Legendaries and at some point when they finally finish that Scavenger hunt that’s been nearly a year in the making, lots of people are going to want their Clovers next.
^that
A macro has ALWAYS meant a series of keys all chained together.
It’s been that way since like, the First Street Fighter.

HADOUKEN
On NSP just to get to this point, we have to start about a half hour before the main Zerg even shows up. If we don’t, then too many people who show up early will just be AFK’ing in Meddlers causing Champs to spawn during the actual Escort (chan). I think we’ve only once pulled it off when a Champ Jester spawned b/c it was stuck to me like the glue on it’s bomb and I just kited the darn thing so far away from the NPC’s that they lost aggro on it.
And I personally have to get there 15 minutes before that just to thin the Herd of mobs from the Last 3 or 4 failed attempts b/c they all clump up outside the Gate instead of Despawning like they’re supposed to.
While trying to break the elemental cauldrons myself
You can break those super easy if you just climb up on that Dome where the VISTA is.
I think you can even leap right onto them and melee them if ya have a good Lunge :p
Yeah but half those people are Ember Farming, I keep seeing them in Map Chat…
Some guy even asked us HOW to do it after I had already climbed up on the Dome and destroyed both Cauldrons…
^Lolololol
Seriously though… of all the things to complain about…
Dont’ buy it then, it’d be broken as hell Pay2Win if it was Master-Tier
I got it!! Proof that this is attack is completely broken:
http://youtu.be/BfnKq_PlXUc (1080 avail)
Did you blink and miss it? It happened Everytime the Subjugator blew its horn.
If it was atleast a 1 second cast, I would have interrupted him EASILY & saved the Pact.
This goes directly against their standards on Telegraphing the biggest attacks.
They HAVE TO CHANGE IT NOW.
…Or they have to atleast explain to us why this case is somehow “Special”.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Harvesting sickle huh?
I’m actually tempted to pay real money for that.
…though the Economist in me keeps looking at Gem prices saying “They’re still not high enough… Trade gold for them to drive them even higher and kitt even more people off”. Plus I’m never making a Legendary at this rate so I need something to spend this stupid 200+ gold on.
Ranger – +25% from signet
no… but umm, I see 2 guards and a ranger.. they can sorta do that…
He generally seems to focus his Life Siphon & double Homing bolt on the sturdiest Medium class with the highest vitality, and his Shadowstep/Puke on the toughest Heavy class with the most Pre or some other weird random stat.
It does kind of make sense though. The Medium there is usually guaranteed to have the most Swiftness + Evades… & maybe even 1 reflect that greatly increases their Ranged DPS when they time it just right. While the Heavy will always have the most Stability booning of any class.
Wait wait wait wait… why would you intentionally take LONGER to kill him
(instead of just having him kill himself with Feedback)
I wouldn’t call it “really well designed”.
Every single Dragon Lieutenant is just a “Stand off to the side & Snipe it” event.
If they were really well designed, then Sniping them at range wouldn’t do ANY damage without several teams of players split up outside that area manning the Mortars & mega Lasers and whatever else was actually put there to add real coordination to the process. Melee’s would be defending the support on those Artillery sites and culling wouldn’t be nearly the issue it is right now b/c everyone would be more spread out.
Infact if they were REALLY trying, they’d of allowed the skilled Melees to play “Shadow of the Colossus”(google this immediately if you don’t know what it is) on these events.
…then there’s the new issues popping up… Like having Escorts that spawn champions or Plaguers/Subjugators that nuke the entire NPC team in 1 single attack and cause it to fail instantly. Do you really expect the newbie/n00b zerg train to keep doing those after the 3rd time they fail it? …of course they’re going to go easier champs instead in a safe little circuit that cuts down on their WP’ing and Repair bills. If they liked getting Ganked constantly, they’d be in WvW instead…
(edited by ilr.9675)
Who’s this “Everyone”?
You got a Lodestone Factory in your pocket??
.
And yes, Mesmers need to remain a bit less Mobile in general. They’re the ONLY other class I genuinely fear in WvW besides an incredibly well played Guardian (who are not the quickest roamers). … I don’t worry about Thieves. I laugh at Warriors. And I just plain pity Rangers. …But those mesmers…. they scare me
Disclaimer: I’ve seen some pretty imbalanced Eles too… who YES, were “imba” b/c of their ability to also Roam fast @ the same time. But I think eventually they’ll be put in their place too just like team split Mind-Blast n00bs in Gw1 were once there’s finally another sPvP format that isn’t just “Conquest” mode.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Mobs prioritize high thoughness builds.
I agree but… This isn’t Path2 Arah… this is COF.
This guy probably aggroes Deer & Moas and then finds a way to somehow die to them too in his spare time…
The reply was basically what I said “it’s not worth or time to make stuff that only few people will use”.
Also funny b/c that describes 90% of the stuff in the Gem Shop which accounts for the vast majority of all new clothing & skins & art resources in general that they put into the game.
I think the solution is clear then: They just need to data mine which helmets for Charr are most often worn, and then make “Proper” ones that don’t clip or disable Manes, to then sell in their Gem Shop… Cost Effectiveness issue solved…
The divide isn’t necessarily over Farming….
In possibly the most astonishing observation on this I’ve seen yet, infact it took me totally by surprise b/c I hadn’t even considered it until yesterday when I saw it: People will Break stuff, just to watch the world burn or just to get even more RNG.
(edited by ilr.9675)
I don’t think you WANT to know how they might do this…
But if you’d like a teaser, then look no farther than the newest Iteration of Balthazar Temple escort , AKA: …The Death March of Betrayal…
Straight up DPS is definitely the fastest way to fail that puppy…
agreed, it’s like tanky builds are only useful on gards, and every other profession uses zerk.
I’m gradually going Celestial on mine… 3 pieces down, 12 more to go
(so basically, 3 months from now) …It’s entirely for Role playing reasons tho. In Gw1 he was a full Dragon Tattoo monk who hung out with Tengu and farmed Napui quarter. … WHY …b/c FYIAD, that’s why.
(edited by ilr.9675)
I haven’t stepped foot in Divinities since this whole thing began.
…and I don’t plan to step foot there again until September.
(or if I need to take the shortcut to Ebonhawke to pick more Dill)
with what? i dont have any money, they nerf anything that you can make money off of
That’s why you buy gems with cash.. I know, I’m in the same boat as you.. I can’t believe its gone so high that 30+ gold is now 800 gems.. I remember when it was 30 silver for 100..
Given just how much inflation has actually gone into the economy, Gems should really be closer to 5g per 100… The only reason they’re not is b/c there seems to be an unexplainable “market correction” of roughly 15% during most Friday resets.
.
It’s definitely not an issue of “they nerfed everything!” … It’s just an issue of Disparity.
There’s a small group of coordinated farmers and flippers who have all the money, and a large group of casuals who keep beating their heads against the wall doing the same zergy farmy activities over and over again making less and less gold, expecting different results while the actual Income gap just grows wider and wider.
