On NSP, we never fail Karka… even one night when a ton of Reddit nubs showed up and made EVERY event take 2x as long as it should have. (This is relevant because a lot of Anet’s devs rolled on NSP so it’s going to influence their perspective). …..with KQ, we’re slowly but surely conditioning more players to TURN AROUND and LOOK BEHIND THEM to see those insanely overtuned Crazed Windriders basically “RailGun” sniping the entire backline support for 10k damage per shot. The more of us we can get with reflects & Pulling Physics (Especially stupid worthless Rangers who only run Bows & Bear…. to instead put an Axe in their Offhand once in a while and hit the #5 key while standing front of some Eles & Engineers…) which just destroys those things in record time.
But yeah… if I could boil this all down to one thing I see more than anywhere else… it’s Rangers or atleast “Ranged Attackers” in general going to these events when they’re too lazy to learn how to actually play with skill or atleast read the Map Chat once in a while… These tougher ones like Grenth, Balth, & KQ many times will actually succeed, or fail depending on just the sheer ratio of how many competent or incompetent Rangers you have b/c D.E’s are basically the last refuge for the 2nd worst balanced Class in the game…. of which there are lots and lots of them attending usually.
I Hate making tutorials, but If I have to, I’ll start making some for the Ranger forums which none of these people actually READ, ….but then when people see these awful players being awful, maybe they can send them a Mail linking to those tutorials? I dunno… It’s really hard to pinpoint where the failure on this issue lies, if it’s purely with Anet, or just the kind of player that Ranged/Ranger tends to attract?

Now that it’s on a decent recharge, it’s better than every Norn cultural Skill there is and also ironically better in PvE than 2 out of 3 Ranger Elites.

this conversation indeed predates any COF nerfs, Its a bit sad they moved this to the black lion forum, because no offfense lionites, but this sub forum is biased. It is basically the land of the people who want to make as much money as possible off of the trading post.
Not necessarily… it’s just like any economic news portal: It doesn’t attract a LOT of people, but it’s bound to attract just as many Meritocratic and even Socialistic followers (along with a few secret “warren buffets”) as it attracts Gordon Gekkos…

Especially when you factor in that going full Zerker in this game & beating the “DPS clock” while dodging slightly, LITERALLY mitigates more damage over time you & your group would take / have to heal back, than all the Sentinel & Cleric’s armor you could possibly Afford….

Can’t wait for Legendary Zerker gear … It will basically be Dental Floss /w flaming quaggan rainbow particle effects & extra boob jiggle (especially for the men).

This goes in the complete opposite direction things need to go in…. while just creating an exploitable automatic “Mail Bank”. What is the point??
We don’t need more arbitrary limits on supply, we just more limits to the INSTANT manipulation of prices. IE: temporarily account-bound whatever is bought for 3-7 days (make it random since Anet loves R.N.G. so kitten much) and limit the number of bids that can be made per account. It’s really really simple.
A little more transparency in the HISTORY of each item would be nice too though (like longer tracking of “X listed by Y sellers” and the same for bid-spam…)
Look at some of the items on our TP right now…. 1000+ quantities at a sale price 1 copper above what you could merch it for. All those postings would magically clean themselves up with a time limit. You’d see “buy orders” start to dominate the TP for those goods (assuming there’s a demand for them at all).
This is a problem with CRAFTING itself, not the Trading Post. It would be solved almost overnight if we had more Crafting Devs besides just Lindsey (who’s got her hands full with Scav hunt still …hopefully). I’m not sure hoooow, but they could probably come up with some sort of system to let specialized Disciplines salvage a lot more of the rarer materials that went into those items back off of them or at the very least let us salvage the Insignias back off like we used to be able to do in Gw1…

Cool…sooo…. Having “your money tied up” is considered a PUNISHMENT or failure metric now? …. Smith basically backs the Day-Traders 100% then? …and sees no reasons to promote Long Term investment?? Okay so if nothing is ever going to be done to make the day flippers face the realities of “Warehousing” or give up anything for their nearly infinite low bids …. then why not just come out and say so?
It’s fine, I can live with being stuck in the same zombie flash market our Real World is stuck in then … minus those generous “Easing” handouts. But if we’re going to base everything off real markets, then how do we start Short Selling the leveraged value of crap we think is overvalued?(starting with precursors & lodestones). Where’s that option at?? Let us borrow those and then tank them. Better yet… allow day flippers to lose storage slots after a particularly brutal day of trading or just sentence them to perma death like it was hardcore mode

Not to mention the increase in Legendary interest since they are going to make them “the last weapon of this type you will ever need” (adjustable stats).
Giving it the “Raza” treatment is more of a gimmick (people didn’t just suddenly include him in their Party overwhelmingly compared to the Necromancer Heroes …most who did, had already been running him as a Ritualist/Nec anyway) . It’s really the Scavenger Hunt that will change demand the most. …at which point Demand will SKYROCKET according to Smith’s equation’s on desirability VS. accruement.
Uhh since this patch is going toward making t6 mats and lodestones LESS rare than they are, well I suggest you buy up the entire supply and see what happens………..

Anet PROMISED us better drops from Dungeons last Spring. Remember?? And What’d we get?? 3 extra tokens, and a drop of liquid karma in most cases with the vast majority of Dungeon chests still giving nothing but Masterwork GARBAGE.
So yeah you’ll sometimes … …maybe SOMETIMES get 1 or 2 Cores per week from ganking Champions (instead of just giving a Guaranteed sliver / fragment / core / lodestone BASED ON LEVEL like they should) from some over farmed newb event in Queensdale while the rest of us who slay 20 champions per night in Orr/Arah continue to get mostly Masterwork green Vendor Trash….
Or better yet…. we’ll get more rares but then they’ll stealth nerf the Ecto salvage rate.

No, there is no DPS check. Her healing is also very low compared to what it was at the start of the game. The fight is about organization, not DPS.

I dunno… I mean YEAH either way, Anet is going to Scrooge us hard which is why I do the full Temple Run on NSP every night to make sure I get a dozen Rares before doing any dungeons… (I think I’ve seen some of them along for the ride as well … hiding among the other ZoS’ers).
But also factor in return to financial normality that this game was in its first month before COF started getting farmed (yes it’s been farmed for almost a YEAR NOW… if you only just joined the dork parade recently then Gratz, here’s your 4chan Slowpoke Trophy.GIF). IoW: yeah you only get maybe 10g a night now … but maybe that 10g will stretch out to buy 2 or even 3 times as much stuff as it currently does?

Yeah I’m sure ANet cannot wait to assassinate the Queen and redo all the personal story quests that reference her, including one where we save her from death at the hands of a Risen maniac. And plain remove Caduceus Manor from the game since the story part just makes no sense without Jennah.
Did you even PLAY the first game?? ….there was atleast a dozen instances where we could wander around a town or lower level zone and see an NPC who would be {spoiler alerrrrrrt} DEAD in a few days time (or roughly 5-10 levels up from there) who was always still alive in that Chronological window of time for the lowbies to look at.

But I’ll go ahead and mention it anyway (at the risk of them being total kittens and CLOSING it claiming it was and Exploit when the WAY THEY DESIGNED IT FROM THE GET GO LOOKS MUCH MORE LIKE A BUG WITH SOUL-BOUNDING {sic}
If you take the superior rune you got from a Chest that for no apparent reason Soulbounds instead of ACCOUNT BOUNDING LIKE IT SHOULD …and you slot that Rune into a Rare you were planning to Slavage anyway, that item’s ownership hierarchy remains at Account Bound … So that the Character you (BL) salvage it with next, can then receive that Rune and it goes back to being soul-bound again.

But yes… they need to get their Hierarchies in order here because all this does is discourage people from repeating content on different Alts and that drastically hurts the game’s overall replayability and punishes their players arbitrarily

IE: stealth needs real counters …. not “swing blindly at empty space” ones.
At the very least… Stomping & Paralyzing shouldn’t be possible while Stealthed.

Most of them need an Overhaul. And much better Scaling.
Jormag’s about the only one that’s close to being decent.
And that’s b/c you actually have to keep the Turrets clear and knock down his walls and get the Golems through. …Stuff that takes slightly more coordination than standing off to the side with all range mode on.
Even Balthazar doesn’t scale enough anymore. The hardest part about that fight is just getting enough people to stand where the Nobles spawn so the whole pact doesn’t get Vaporized by their Shadowsteps 300ft out the door from Rally point. Once they actually arrive and Balth Priest spawns, ppl can just turn their brains back off b/c he just doesn’t scale up HP wise for some reason. (The stupid Abom should absorb 75% of the damage for him till it’s dead, that’d make it more interesting.)

I liked fighting Kohler a lot better when he wasn’t constantly respawning Adds like elite Necros and Rangers who do even more damage than he does.

This is still a problem. I’ve used AoE’s near a downed player, cleaved like crazy, but Thief stomped ‘em anyway. What Do? I can’t interrupt what I can’t see.

Simple Computer science that’s consistent with many of their Open World encounters too lately. …. When a multi stage Event mob with more complex triggers is spawned, but left to idle too long, its global function calls in that instance’s memory can get mishandled or desynched. This is ONLY a theory though, and I have no one to actually help test it properly… (A bad pug might take the required Arrival time, but everyone on the forum would then ignore any Video proof of the bug by claiming that the group took 2-3 hours to get there and therefore they auto-fail the DPS test). So yeah if you do indeed enjoy interesting phenomena… then this little Paradox should make your day.

There’s nothing to be gained from Focus on Dueling. Least of all meaningful rewards.
This isn’t a 1 on 1 game. It never was in Gw1 …. it never will be.
The only balanced 1 on 1 game to ever exist was Chess and most people here wouldn’t do very well at it (I certainly know I couldn’t… I can win Snipe Battles, I can win @ BuildWars, I can even win most RL Fist fights … but Chess eluded me)

This just points to a bigger problem in “Level-Appropriate” content not being rewarding or commensurate with “Skill” & Coordination. While Queensdale is full of level 50+ people in all Rare Gear …. the Mid-level zones are EMPTY except for a few newbies in Green & Blue gear clearly and SADLY struggling with harder content intended for atleast a Duo…
( I know b/c I spend most of my time on my 80’s in those mid-tier areas. But I do stop to help them whenever I can).
Hopefully the Blog Changes Colin announced will CHANGE THIS by giving players a lot more Materials they really WANT so they can go back to focusing on their mains directly or atleast getting a better variety of Crafting mats to PL their alts back in town on the crafting tables “like the rich kids get to do”

And that’s EXACTLY what I’m saying… Is give the PLAYERS the ability to work around the bugs directly. That way it doesn’t matter so much when it takes them 2 weeks or 2 months to get around to fixing the Broken D.E.’s
I agree… but…
First It’s IMPERATIVE that they give their players some sort of /bugged switch or something that when cast by a majority of nearby players around the Dynamic Event, triggers it to restart itself or force itself to start when it’s clearly stuck. ..The Northern Pact route in Straits of Devastation for example has been getting stuck every night since 2 patches ago and they’re not addressing it.
Every major patch brings atleast a few of these bugs up when there’s no logical explanation for it and no evidence that their Live team even touched any of the triggers for those events. They seem to just break on their own after certain patches and their whole Test Krewe only seems to be PvP’ers so any Balance problems or Show-Stopping bugs just go right through their testing process like a sieve b/c no one’s looking for them and the test server isn’t Public like it should be

I’ve read thread after thread of people asking for change in GW2, saying the game will die if they aren’t made quickly.
LOL … I wish … haven’t seen a single server fall below “High” all month and I’ve been up at 6am looking (b/c I need to Transfer but I ain’t payin 1000 gems, screw that)
Also this list is FULL of contradictions. It has no unifying theme and half the things on it are where everything went off track in the first place (Ascended gear?? really? More vertical progression?) Is someone trolling or do people REALLY think this stuff is more important than group DE-stopping reoccurring Bugs that have existed since launch or dungeon instances breaking or the fact WvW has only 1 meta that matters (follow the Zerg) and still no real guild progression in it.
The only thing needing to be repeated here about 100 times, is:
-Separate balancing for PvE, sPvP, WvW
…b/c it’s clear that their “balance” team just isn’t taking it serious yet.

T5’s also go up b/c they’re used in generating Ectos used in TWO kinds of T6’s forging (clover recipe too), assuming your server can escort the Pact to Balth in one piece
There is no reliable way to farm T6. Just go farm gold in general and buy it.
This ultimately leads to inflation — if everyone has gold and nobody is filling the role of “supply”, prices will continue to rise.
There’s been a bit of a gold infusion in the last two weeks from the achievement chests. I expect prices to rise anyway in the short term.
Don’t worry tho, that won’t last long. COFs days are numbered now.

What I am asking for:
I am a serious combat player who has the items to craft this ascended piece of gear (Example.)
I go to a smith and commission (A window pops up.) I put my resources into the window, and he crafts it for me, for a set amount of gold.
Is that too much to ask? People have been doing this for centurys.
Every piece of gear my Guardian owns, I got someone else to craft it for me that way.
(for free) ..Like I said: Guilds FTW.

I’m stayin’ out of this one just b/c I’m not big on the word “punish”.
I’d rather all fights be “interesting” … and not punishing to anyone just b/c of how much (or how little … which is who gets punished right now) DPS they do.
People say knights all too often. Yeah it’s good on pow Necros probably and a few other off the beaten path builds but I think Valk’s just makes so much more sense for Rangers with our ability to have perma Fury. There’s a lot of debate right now on what’s better, tough or vit…. when it comes to surviving on high levels of regeneration. But all encounters are not nearly that Linear. And Warriors wouldn’t be nearly as ‘Meta’ as they are right now if there wasn’t something really …“easy mode”… about having higher base Vitality by default.
And don’t forget that there’s also Karma armor/trinket variants like Settler, Cavalier, Soldier(aka: PVT), & even Shaman’s. And keep an eye on Wayfarer’s once Anet replaces the MF stat with something else. It might end up being something really good for Ranger.

I’d get back on the Guardian and tweak your game controls and build until you have something really stable. …luckily you can kind of use Ranger to learn those Melee encounters better since a Ranger also has better DPS in melee than it does at Ranged. And you CAN make a very ‘tanky’ melee Ranger when you stack enough regeneration stuff together. (the only problem is combining it with managing the pet in Dungeons goes up a Skill Curve that would then be much easier to learn on the guardian first).
For instance, I’ll sometimes fight 2 or 3 Veterans together at once on my Ranger… to learn every telegraph and order of their skills so that it’s a lot easier to plan ahead and just “wreck ’em” faster on the guardian.
About the …only encounter… I can think of where I would always prefer my ranger to my Guardian, is during the “Shade Wrangling” stage of Grenth (Temple D.E.). …and that’s b/c Ranger has a much more persistent self-rez against them in lick-wounds as well as other things like an AOE Fear from the pet and lots of evasion & AoE cripple spam in your ranger skills. ….though that’s also due to an oddity in how fast the shades can spam their special Corruption through our bubbles apparently… Some people would say just go Thief then, but they rely too heavily on stealth and the whole point there is to HOLD aggro, not drop it every few seconds. ….yadda yadda yadda, getting off track here….
