well aren’t you just a bowl of chuckles? …plz, keep sharing your wisdom
I wouldn’t be surprised if there was more Trait changes in the future to add even more proc’ing.
They’re removing magic find as a stat from gear. It didn’t add anything to your offensive capabilities in celestial gear, so there’s no reason to compensate you for it not being there anymore.
Reality check (esp to those who upvoted this comment)….
All the other Stats SUFFERED specifically so that the MagicFind would be at 3% (the PRIMARY STAT) on it. That’s called an Offset. And it’s a big one. …just deleting that from the set of stats, is identical to completely removing all +POWER from a berserker set just on the basis that Precision & Crit damage are already good enough in most situations. (except against Objectives/“Yellow Bars”).
Who upvoted this incredibly trivial complaint?
There’s like … a Billion more important things to be worried about in this update…
which begs the other question… why aren’t these devs posting in THOSE threads >:\
New blog today confirming that Dungeons will be a consistent source of the new ingredients in T7 mats (or something along those lines). The way that mobs are spawned in Fractals (as opposed to most dungeons) could be a significant factor in the rewards discussion here.
Now would be a good time for Anet to finally compress a lot more of the awful Traits in Ranger and Engineer, and add new better ones upon Crit. …yeah we get it, Guardian and Warrior is great b/c they scale in a really simple way. Good for them. But this is a real opportunity for them to finally add a little Depth to the whole enchilada. If it works, they could do the same to Ele & Necro too (but focus it more on conditions).
wait what?
There’s a ceiling on how many Lucks you’ll ever need…. exactly 300 of ‘em according to this. T6’s though … okay I have no idea the number needed either … I wouldn’t know.
But, I’;m guessing it’s more than 300 if past patterns are any indicator, especially for those of us who want 500 rank in all 3 disciplines
Uh oh…
“Tier 7 material: those refined from lower tier materials plus ectoplasm and a new reagent, and those refined from brand new materials rewarded from specific content plus Obsidian Shards and the new reagent. " -Linsey Murdoch
…Kitten just got REAL.
Still waiting for someone from Anet to confirm if this Behavior is intended or not
http://youtu.be/BfnKq_PlXUc
…now would be a good time before this issue explodes on them.

Price of dust will go up?
You do realize how BAD this would be in the middle of a massive increase in demand for T6’s, right?? ….unless this update also comes with a change that REMOVES Ectos from the Clover recipe…. Bad Bad Bad things are going to happen.
I am looking at spidy and it seems its at 28s. Am I that old where I do not consider that high? It used to be 35 back in the day and I’m still waiting for the time when it might hit enough to sell my glob listed for 42 silver.
I don’t think it’ll ever reach that high, at least sustain itself at that price. It could reach that high temporarily – probably within the hour of the patch when people realize glob may be needed in large quantities.
Can I archive these 2 quotes together?
Or do you think that would be a petty thing to glom onto?
“players will salvage Essence of Luck from Fine and Masterwork gear and from Globs of Ectoplasm”
….very concerned by this change simply b/c Ectos were already an overstressed commodity that obviously has started becoming less common ever since people stopped running World Events this month.
You guys have to think about this in terms of Exponential gain.
The increase in Crits from 0% to 50% moves in a way that “feels” very linear.
However once it gets far enough beyond that, you have to start looking at it backwards, as in: “What are the chances that my attack WON’T crit??”
At 75% … it’s a 1 in 4 chance.
At 80% … it’s a 1 in 5…
At 90% … it’s 1 in 10.
At 95% … it’s 1 in 20.
In other words, you get exponential gains from increasingly smaller changes in the stat.
You do NOT get this with Power alone b/c power is just plain Linear
In my case, it means instead of pumping Berserker’s on my Ranger (which would be BORING and counter productive when there’s other classes that benefit a lot more).. I could just aim for 75% and then use a Moa/WH to have Perma Fury.
(Engineers can do this too, right?) …infact this was one of the exact outcomes I predicted for the Stat change and is why Last night, I created 2 full sets of exotic Explorer’s Armor (one Light, one Medium) along with 6 Explorer’s Weapons. It was incredibly cheap to make b/c the ONLY material I had to actually buy was the Claws themselves.
(edited by ilr.9675)
If this works as a very successful Gold sink, then I will of course congratulate Smith on its wise Architecture.
OTOH, if it just results in a bunch more minmaxers with the “If you’re NOT running Berserker, then you’re being selfish” mentality to further petition Anet to keep designing their way AROUND the problem of the berserker meta, then I will be very vocal in my disappointment over it.
I don’t run Clerics/Celestial/Ryenas/PVT/Knights/Valks/Rampagers b/c I’m bad at dodging or worried about dying. No, infact my Twitch reflexes are in the top 2%. No I prefer to run those stats because they keep the encounters from ending too soon and being TOO EASY. This removal of MF% from gear simply because it caused disagreements between minmaxers and casuals, is a dangerous precedent to be setting…
I guess the only question now …. which neither Colin, Jeffrey, nor Josh will ever answer…
…Is what kind of “specialist” will they be putting in to oversee this content now?
What sort of producer. …basically the Sous Chef: Will they follow the design template we saw with Keil’s Investigation during dragon bash with flashy 1-timers not meant to be repeated (just like Story Dungeons). Or will they go for something that stresses personal skill progression itself like Hrouda’s final (yet temporary) addition to the game currently lauded as the hardest thing added to the game (by people who obviously never soloed Lupicus).
Personally I’d prefer to see Neither.
I think there’s an entirely different route here they haven’t even considered.
^That’d be awesome if it did^
…but the amount of Coordination required to do that (And I’ve had the pleasure of watching a few guilds pull it off) … is SOOOO far off the Effort -to- Reward scales that the only way to fix it would be to guarantee a Precursor for 1 or 2 of the people contributing the most to its success. (Basically a private lottery only given to the people who had the most impact on the entire Chain from Trinity to the Temple).
TL;DR I think the Simin ‘bug’ is people blaming their incompetence on a non-existent bug.
Okay well I’m not going to upvote anymore of your posts if you just want to engage in personal attacks on people who weren’t even inviting one… You should really be more considerate if you expect to hold any credibility at all. …very disappointed right now.
^THAT, is a kitten awesome quote^
on the OP’s link:
interesting… I was expecting much more shallow fanboyism from Reddit.
I guess they’re not all a bunch of bronies afterall … well not the ones in that subforum atleast
In PvP? Hell no that just makes even more people quit than already have.
Everytime I get Basilisked in WvW by a perma invis thief I wanna throw both my kitten monitors through the Window….
.
In PvE… hell yes CC needs a buff b/c it’s balanced 100% around sPvP which was a massive mistake. Go attempt the Balthazar escort right now and tell me with a straight face that your meager 2 second stun is enough to keep the Pact alive versus Vet Subjugators. …and against any Champions… LOLZ …yeah have fun peeling 30 stacks off first.

Rangers.
Wait no one accepts those either… nvm.
Darn beat me to it…
…umm…
I would say, the ridiculously simplistic AI and Scripting. They went to great lengths when it came to Graphics and Netcode, but a lot of the general Scripted encounters and Adaptive AI (the flipside of scripted) is just a joke. As in I was literally programming much more advanced stuff in Quake & Starcraft’s 15 years ago. That’s pretty sad b/c I had zero formal training as a programmer. What the HELL are schools teaching designers these days?? Do the schools also focus everything on Microtransactions instead of content?
Then came Tuesday’s notes that revealed lvl 500 crafting would come out. This led to a price increase from speculators which led to an even higher price.
The Level cap increase plan in Crafting was already well established before Tuesday
^Sorry but your completely false claim is completely false.^
Also you’re a TinFoil Hatter for blaming everything on “Evil Manipulators”
Cause I get probably 3-5 yellow drops per invasion
Most obvious exaggeration I’ve ever heard. Maybe you’ll get that many in the first hour with really high MF% boost until D.R. kicks in. Then the rest of the day you get crap unless you’re popping world chests (which no one is anymore).
It’s most definitely the lack of D.E. participation behind it.
I’m not a betting man, but as I just said, I DID bet on this, and it payed off
(edited by ilr.9675)
Why the hell did you use TinyURL for that when you can just do this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/ANet-loves-difficulty-spikes/first#post2592962
…you can even put it in quote and a colon to have it compress into one or two words
Most people who are concerned about HiJack java by the way, know better than to click on most TinyURLs
(edited by ilr.9675)
Only 2 characters of my 5 run beserker, Warrior and Thief, and i run dungeons on them less than my others, but i dont get kicked from pugs
+1 … and I’ve done nothing but PUG since the ancient days of Diablo1. (the few who did try something… got bathed in firewalls from a special port tunneling script)
What about killing trash mobs will teach people how to play better? Be careful what you wish for, you might discover that you yourself are one of the people who don’t know as much as you think you do about how to play.
Nothing currently… but if they had some designers who took full advantage of the scripting available to them, it could make a huge difference. (without hard gating everything). Too bad that’s never going to happen.
4 silver spawn in Grenth room: hardest mob in Arah. And that’s saying a lot…
It’s a valid point I suppose just b/c they’re a lethal combo that can constantly DPS you despite dodging. …but 1 person single pulling the Illusionist (like I did) and keeping him busy seemed to work just fine for my guild whom most here accused of having awful DPS (b/c we got that Simin 50% bug the first time we tried it). Yet when I kept the Illu busy, not one person even got downed…
Really there’s a much worse one than that on the way to Mel in the pipes there where SIX of them will jump you at once and no one even notices anymore b/c they always just run past that group. The confined space makes it a total nightmare. Killing the ancient Oozes & Gorrilla boss in P1 is honestly a lot less of a grind than that group was.

STAFF GUARDIAN REPORTING IN
I do remember a Dev talking about some monster being meant to be skip in Arah Path after some guy made a post about how strong they were. I know this doesn’t apply to every dungeons but it’s something.
think that might have been recent and was actually about some Pavillion … thing.
The only Dev who would have commented about it in dungeons would have been Hrouda, and he just Quit…. (as if anyone has to wonder why at the rate things are going)
Every ranger should name their pets as Robert H
Why? The second we decide to use ever utilize some of that amaaaaaazing versatility they provide with us they lose names.
./partypooper
lol this, otherwise I totally would name one of mine that
How come I can’t get Search and Rescue to do it then?
There’s no mention of this on the Wiki, and This just happened so I didn’t record video of it… but while I was escorting Leddron towards the Catas, he was at low health & got dead the instant the 2 Vets spawned down in the swamp there. Well I already all my Spirits out and tapped 0 again b/c they were stacking conditions on us. To my surprise, Leddron popped right back up as if he’d only been in Downed…
Did this happen? Is this expected behavior? Can it be used on multiple NPCs within a certain time frame like on the Chan Escort??
This is the stupidest thing ever… all over again just like the pet nerf.
I was just finally finding a use for these things in PvE… Not very universal use, but atleast it got me on par for NPC escorts with my horrible blood Necro with the Well Siphon build. (who is just a Shadow of her Gw1 counterparts by the way)
I’m more surprised at how quickly it rose to 30s (and if it will stay there). If it rises too much the suppliers of ectos will come out in force.
Not sure how you’re relating casual players with market discussion.
Well okay… not even what I meant, but thanks for being honest. Ahhh…. what I actually meant by you being surprised, was that you specifically mentioned Speculators. ….No, not at all. See you’re automatically doing that exact same thing I just pointed out: assuming it’s some hardcore force at work that can just be circumvented with a different approach / exploit. Not at all! …and no this isn’t intended to be patronizing in the least….
See b/c you prefer not to be around the “sheep”, you wouldn’t be aware of just how badly daily World-Chest, Temple, & DE in general participation has dropped off. THAT is where nearly all of the Ecto generation really came from. So much that it completely could cancel out (and constantly did) any attempts by flippers to jack Ecto rates above 19s for very long. That price was written in stone even when it no longer made sense for it to remain that low. (once COF gold gen really kicked in…). So just put 2 & 2 together here with this Pavilion & then Scarlet meta shift. Then tack onto that how badly ectos are also required for T6 upteiring and Obsidian Recipe …. I think it should be obvious that speculators are NOT the cause of that. And I think Smith would back that up too if he was able & allowed to gather and release the possible data on it. ….I hadn’t even checked Spidey on it, until just a second ago, but look at it… the supply history corroborates this explanation…
(edited by ilr.9675)
u wot m8?
I’d be skeptical too… But judging by your comments on Ectos, it seems you were surprised by them almost hitting 30s, is that not too much of an exaggeration? …okay well I anticipated it, and had bought 20 stacks of T5’s weeks ago specifically to craft a stack of Ectos to then sell at 28s…. which I’ve been doing. And I’m not even a market guy, I don’t flip, I don’t racketeer, I hardly even touch Gw2Spidey. And other casual friends of mine were PM’ing to make similar remarks on the market. I’m not saying I’m like smart or anything, I’m just saying, stop underestimating us more casual folks plz. We’re not all a bunch of newbie stereotypes
The strength of GW2’s money sinks rests on the 15% TP fee – because it scales up with the amount of money in the economy. Even T3 cultural armor is only a one time sink, and only pulls a flat amount of money out. The TP fee takes 15% over and over and over again – the game cannot generate more money than the TP fee can sink.
The Strength?? …heh, that’s the weakest strength I’ve ever heard. They wouldn’t be changing how magic find works if that was the case. What you’re leaving out here is the psychological / cognitive factor. People just automatically subconsciously adapt to that 15% “Captial Gains” tax. Often by using subtle exploits to save atleast 20% more time and then nullify that constant sink. Those very bankers you lauded for keeping the RealWorld rate low, (2.25% by their claims when many conservative economists are saying the real rate is 6-8% Y.o.Y.) have done the same thing by cooking CPI and hiding real inflation rates while also doing this Too Big to Fail hostage taking crap that forced currency printers to flood an already overcapitalized market during record low interest rates (b/c they manipulate those too). which is now backfiring if you’re keeping an eye on Bonds like I am. Meanwhile here, Up until this month, it even looked like Gem prices were seeing a similar 15% week over week mystery suppression when they should have been nearing 5G per 100 almost 2 months ago….
Even when you can fool most people’s frontal lobes and get the Marketeers themselves to drink the koolaid… there’s still that not quite yet fully explained by science instinct clawing at the back of their skulls telling them that something bad can still happen and they have to keep cheating their way around the agreed-upon framework. And there is no possible better place to observe this behavior than an MMO. Especially with double-blind seller data and the history/fluctuations having to be tracked by 3rd Parties (just like how we still don’t have a Looking for Group framework either). ….I guess if you were a humanist/optimist you could say they just automatically work 15% harder. (maybe many casuals even do??) But let’s get real here… that only works all around when there’s compounding rates & diminishing returns on exploitive behavior to really keep it in check.
…No I don’t know the exact point this intersects with the current inflation trend but I’m pretty sure it’s atleast an 8-15% deviation over that first layer of 15% already being canceled out subconsciously
.
PS: If I was in charge of “making a better sink”?… I’d do what my super annoying MMO friends were always going on and on and on about which was stuff like Home-instance, GuildHalls, & Player housing items and CRAFTING especially…Look at how much money we sink on Crafting staples like Sugar, Flour, Silk Thread, Primordium, etc!…I guarantee that exceeds everything the average player has EVER spent on Cultural skins. — Oh along with that stuff, adding pricey Mounts fueled by a heavy “Junk Food” sink whose only purpose was to provide a 50% non-combat swiftness for Gathering the high-demand nodes and scouting for Scavenger events with random spawn locations (sort of like bounties).
(edited by ilr.9675)
Swiftness, regen and a bit of fury… nice of course… but are you sure swiftness is a good boon for dungeons? everyone is capable to stack swiftness if needed and regen stacks duration not intensity so basically if you give perma regen every other party member’s regen skill become useless… basically the only good boon you can give is fury; correct me if i’m wrong.
I already run very similar Trait setup and 51% boon duration (Monk & Giver’s gear) in Dungeons. It works, particularly in Arah & AC where you wouldn’t expect it. For some reason it does a lot better in P2 quickies than my Guardian does. I wish I knew why….
And no I don’t admit that easily and I hope no one ever quotes me on it.
All I know is perma swiftness just feels really good… like being a Dervish again
.
PS: yes I also bring FrostSpirit and plop it down somewhere safe for the team in any fight that’s not super mobile & AOE spammed (bad places being: lupicus, burrows, etc…). If you need more damage in general though, offhand the Axe instead for 10 stack of Vuln, use Sword, and learn to lunge in and out of Combo fields reliably. It makes a real difference.
(edited by ilr.9675)
I thought this was going to be a setup to a bad xzibit joke….
Now I’m just depressed.
Let’t just wait and see what the stats of the new weapons (and eventual new armour in the future) will be and then we can discuss this….
There’s nothing to wait for. … There’s no surprises. Everyone’s going to get Berserker b/c it’s the only thing you’re allowed to run in any kind of frequent repetitive Guild or Dungeon based grouping. And the only way to stop that, and thus stop Ranger’s further lowering on the totem pole, is if there was no Berserker Stat set being made available for Ascended. And then NO ONE would bother crafting it. This is an all or nothing deal. There are no shades of grey to be had here, least of all with the Pet…
Well… Rangers are the second most created, not mained profession
/Thread.
I’d also pay good money to see what percentage of max level rangers no longer being played, was due to them being Bots…
Funny you mention that… there’s like 50x more people in WvW asking why they can’t get dungeon skins for WvW’ing. …guess the grass is just borwner on everyone’s side
Heh … yeah Mesmer. It was so good that even though I mained Monk, people would tell me to bring my Mesmer instead most of the time for stuff like UW b/c those same Twitch reflexes that make you a fast life saver as monk, made you an even better Lockdown mesmer. The fact you did tons of damage while doing it is probably what they cared about most tho. …2 birds with one stone.
The uhh… Complaining (atleast in my case) ….All stems from these things that WERE WORKING just fine a few months ago. It’s not a matter of “Oh boohoo they aren’t adding what we really want them to add next”…. No, rather it’s the stuff we Bought and PAYED FOR, this complete game at launch and the parts that were mostly complete, And of course those missing chunks they promised they’d wedge in soon.
Well guess what… we had to give up on complaining about those, obviously. B/c there’s just no energy left to keep bumping the same “Where is this?? You promised us it 10 months ago!” threads. And hey, if you’re so darn fragile and sensitive to negative vibes then Gratz b/c there’s a lot less of those threads now b/c the rest of us just Gave UP. Be happy then b/c that’s one less thing for you to Ironically complain about complaining about complaining about. ….Complainception … BWAAAAAMM. No seriously, respond right now and give credit where it’s due here… Admit you’re happy that a lot of that complaining has subsided into the ether. Do it…
….waiting…
Yeah, that stuff for whatever reason, just couldn’t be done in a few months or something? I dunno, they haven’t said and I think most of us are pretty sick of speculating on it ourselves so long as we never get any straight answers on it.
Okay
…moving on then….
How about just not being …. completely BLIND then? No J/k that’s hyperbole but seriously even the Whiteknighters can look at the content being pushed out now and be like …. Well okay there’s obviously some major Effort being put somewhere right? Yes I said EFFORT! And Polish too. …Or They’re atleast keeping the UI artists pretty honkin’ busy… right? Being Charitable enough here for the sensitive folks? Let me know if I’m missing anything, I won’t leave ya haging like they’ve been doing to us.
- So those things they said they would do…. no progress at all
- All this new shiny stuff they never hinted at… TONS of effort.
- I’m guessing b/c they’re just having more fun building it??
- Okay whatever, no one wants to have a job they can’t have fun in…
- can certainly sympathize with that.
Meanwhile … and yes this is the point I’m getting to… sorry kept ya waiting so long for it it. But hey you made a thread dedicated to criticizing ALL our postings? So you must be a big Reader and if you haven’t even gotten this far then you’d just be a little skimmer amirite? …MEANWHILE, all that content we bought the game for… is gradually getting broken as a side effect somehow. Bugs everywhere. So many more DE’s not completing or getting stuck or just plain becoming impossible. Nevermind unrewardding, we got over that. This is a case where the whole reason we bought the game in the first place…. isn’t even accessible like it used to be. That is not a case of frivolous complaining as you allege it to be, Sir/Madam … No this is “We just want our old content & grouping back plz”… or atleast an explanation on why it got messed with so badly. Same thing with Class nerfs … like 90% of them were all for sPvP which a lot of people are looking at and saying “WHY?” Why ruin so many fun playstyles people were comfortable with for some conquest mode that most people just never spent any time in anyway?
It’s not just a bunch of chicken littles and malcontents doing this. It’s people who were mostly very satisfied with stuff the way it was. Try this: Imagine you bought a Car and one day you went into the Garage, and instead there’s a just a Toaster there. ….Would you be GRATEFUL about that??? Is that what you’re criticizing us for? Being miffed by this toaster that only has 1 gear?
(edited by ilr.9675)
Obviously Chest drop tables got bugged by these stupid Living Story tickets…
Let people blow all their turbogrind earnings on precursors for a few weeks to make the economy healthy again.
That Gold doesn’t just get launched into the sun where it’s incinerated…. no infact it’s obviously going straight into the pockets of manipulators who could potentially do much worse things with it just to make a point….
I don’t really have an opinion on the Precursors or their drop rates. …just pointing out that buying stuff on the TP doesn’t just dissipate all the inflation that’s been building. If anything it’s just causing a vicious cycle of more inflation for inflation’s sake.
(edited by ilr.9675)
SOMETIME LAST WEEK: Ectos did not increase by 10silver.
lol hindsight is so much fun.
Meanwhile I just unloaded a stack of ’em for 28 silver making it exactly 10s more…
And 12 days ago, I was already predicting that Ectos were completely undervalued.

Ogre treat bags seem to have a lot of Confectionary ingredients.
…begging the question though: If they’re supposedly the most masterful Pet-rearing race, then why are they feeding them Chocolate?? ASPCA would have a kittenfit
This forum seems to be plagued with people making this types of the threads that basically point a stupid decision made by someone.
While it is indeed amusing to some extant, I find them devoid of anything constructive and in fact annoys me to some extent (mostly due to the fact that the joke has been played before).
I think we get it, people make stupid decisions all the time.
(And no, Im not the guy listing the 39 Genesis.)
And I find KillJoy posts really annoying and unnecessary. There’s nothing like seeing a total Manipulator fall right on their face when you want some good Schadenfroiden …to each their own.
Now you’re just rehashing the Magni the Bison fight also…
If it’s 1v1 … there’s always going to be 1 class that leaves all the others in the dust on it.
…nomatter how it was intended to be won
It’s not 1 well, it’s 6 of them instant cast simultaneously. …just like in that video I linked
Yeah with ele it’s more about the fact that Lightning Hammer is your only real Melee DPS option so it just makes more sense to be built as a generalist since you’re mainly filling a Midline capacity than any other role. IoW: be ready for anything b/c your minmaxxing just leads to headaches if you go too much in one extreme. If you just wanna DPS nonstop then stay on the warrior and don’t even bother with Celestial
