An mmorpg without grind is an mmorpg with no endgame, when will people get this?
I have 3 legendaries, yet only 2 pieces of asc armor. I don’t find it worth going for. It’s really not needed unless you are a fractal/wvw player, i’m none of those ..
Dont use a stone as it changes it to a random exotic, you would want 4 of the same especially for staff/swords/gs/daggers.
Sure, if you are going after a specific pre for your leg. But if you just want to gamble you get much cheaper forges with cheap random exotics and mystic forge stones.
I see lot of people even on mid lvl maps.
A minor stat increase, and they are account bound. So you can use them on your other characters.
That’s pretty much it.
They aren’t really worth it, unless you need the best of the best, or if you want to reach high lvl fractals (since you can gain more agony resistance with asc gear)
I agree, LS is nice and all and free. But would much rather have they added dungeons to the game.
sold a ascended armor box to a merchant because it didn’t have the stats I needed as I only had my thief at 80 at the time
On purpose o.O?
My wife and I have a few guild banks we share with our accounts. We deposit all rares and exotics into them and on my main character I forge with. Its tedious to remove them all from the guild banks, but I usually forge with no less than 400-500 rares and exotics. I also craft a lot of Krait weapons. It has worked really well so far. Every precursor I have gotten is from the forge. I have never gotten one off mob loot.
That’s another way of doing it
Yeah, same here after like 4.5 k hours. Never seen a precursor outside of MF sadly.
About mystic forge gambling. I wouldn’t rule it out. It all depends on how you handle loss. If it makes you smash your keyboard, don’t even think about going that way.
But if you are patient and don’t get upset when you fail, it can be very rewarding when you eventually (if you do) get lucky ^^
Just never kitten away 500 g at once. Do it in small doses.
There is without a doubt most focus on PVE. But if the focus was mostly on PVP/WVW those groups of people would complain at least as much.
Doesn’t make any sense to think that a certain group of people in the game is more demanding than the others.
I saved up my gold and bought it – no gambling required.
After I have gotten the 3 legendaries I wanted the most, I don’t really feel like any of the others is worth the long grind. So i’m fine with gambling my gold away ^^
I thought it would be interresting to hear how people gamble for their precursors.
What do you find to be the best way?
Exotic/rare?
Do you do it in large ammounts?
Or just a little by little?
Do you use specific combos? 4xGS etc, or random cheap exo/rares for random wep type outcome?
Also, how do you deal with a loss?
Do you beat your keyboard, maybe even ragequit?
Do you accept it and move on? ^^
I have way to many times spent like 300 – 500 g in one major all in. I can’t stand this anymore lol. It have caused me to ragequit the game a couple of times
The best way to keep gambling for precursor is in my opinion to find a system that you can remain sane from ^^
I find the best way for me is to just use everything I’ve earned at the end of the day. I don’t get mad when I loose it. I’m expecting not to get anything, but when it actually does happen .. That feeling
Guess it helps that I have the legendaries that I want the most now, so I don’t care THAT much about my G anymore as I used to.
I have only received 1 precursor using rares. Out of tons of rares.
I don’t remember how many I’ve gotten using exotics, so yeah .. Even though it’s little tries and almost guarenteed loss of G if you don’t get a precursor or exotic with a strength rune .. I still have MUCH more luck with this ..

Spent 300 Gold on Exotic Greatswords and threw them in the Mystic Toilet.
Got Dawn though
So why was it stupid then ^^?
I put Sunrise on sale, and regretted the day after and removed it from tp listing .. That’s was an expensive mistake due to TP fee ^^
So many kittened MF gamblers
The prices on black lion skins is getting out of hand, since key farming was nerfed. Makes no sense to me how a lot of the skins that aren’t even “that great” (opinions opinions) is more expensive than volcanus, foefire wep etc.
Can’t we get away to earn these through the game some how? (other than collections)
I think a random number of scraps between 1-10 in every monthly would be pretty fair, and knock the prices down to a more fitting price level. Maybe even a chance of a scrap in daily rewards. I know this is a big part of your income, but this suggestion wouldn’t exactly hand you all the skins, but could actually motivate alot of people to buy black lion keys I think, when they see the scraps in their inventory. And also motivate people to keep playing the game.
Thoughts?

It’s actually pretty easy to earn charges in the game. You just have to play pvp.
If you don’t like to hunt skins, gw2 is most likely not for you.
I think it’s awesome. GW2 have proved that progressions doesn’t have to be about stats.
Must admit I haven’t read your novel ^^ But, have played the FF mmo when it was on sale on steam .. For 15 min .. uninstalled .. Launched back up gw2 ^^
Lol, my novel is called “Ifrit – An Element of Nostalgia” search “Ifrittrilogy” in facebook lol (little plug there).
Deleted the post, as it shouldn’t lay between ur posts ^^
Found one that works
So thread can be closed if a moderator comes by
Thanks, doesn’t look like it’s overlay though. That’s what i’m looking for.
Tried the one from gw2stuff, but it’s outdated.
Anyone knows of one that works?
Would be appreciated
Titles aren’t put in the game not because it’s hard to make them. It’s because if you saturate the game with them they lose all meaning, much like achievements do.
People complain you get an achievement for everything. Titles are something you get periodically. They’re added fairly frequently. I’ve gotten at least a couple of new titles in the last month.
Anet could add 100 titles tomorrow.
But I think that would be a mistake.
People complain that you get achievments for not achieving anything. I’m sure non would complain that actual achievments got rewarded with AP or/and a title.
Why would they loose meaning? It would create more titles in the world, meaning less people would be using the same ones (same concept with skins), and they would feel more unique. They won’t loose meaning either if you add more, that’s only a good thing. But yeah no real reason to get titles for not achieving much, but that’s how most titles is now, not enough “prestigious” ones.
After that, they tie it to unlocking an achievement and then everything’s a-go.
Pretty sure this is the hard part. Collections and skins is easy. It’s just to make a title activate once a skin is unlocked in your wardrobe, and since they already have that code .. yeah .. but I can imagine achievments where you have to do something to activate it is much more tricky, by “do something” I mean, “kill a champion without taking damage” etc. Stuff where your actions in game is the what activates the title.
Much more complicated coding I can imagine.
Win 10 000 Rated arena matches should keep you busy
I promise that aint easy AT ALL. Or capture Stone mist castle 2500 times is also one that will take you a while. Most pve titles aint all that hard , they maybe take a while like dungeoneer and dungeon master.
Haha, didn’t say it didn’t have any at all ^^ But it could sure use some more. It’s a good motivation to keep you playing
I’m just asking, since I don’t understand why you have so many missed opportunities.
I’m not a programmer or anything, but I can’t imagine it taking much effort to create some titles.
And I can only imagine it also beeing a benefit to you, aswell as the players.
Why doesn’t some of the achievment that takes the most effort have titles?
People always complaining that GW2 has no endgame (I don’t agree with that btw, my 4k hours says otherwise), but this just seems like so easy to create endgame.
Why is there not titles for getting 5 legendaries etc?
There is actually a lot of titles in game, but most of them are achieved with no effort what so ever.
I like how you added titles with the collections, but why do only some of them have titles?
Again, correct me if i’m wrong. But isn’t this considered pretty easy programming?lol No it’s NOT easy programming…
What looks like a small change to you, is actually a Big change in programming and what’s big change for you, is a Massive change in programming.Trust me… I do coding… It can be frustrating…
Well .. I’m not a “programmer”, but I’ve learned to code for the web in html and php many years ago, so have little outdated knowledge on coding (even though i’m sure web/gaming coding is probably black/white ^^)..
But I would think that they could just reuse/edit the code they already have and copy pasta into the place where they want to create the new title? I guess the tricky part is to get the title to activate when you achieve the goal. But for wardrobe/collections it can’t be very hard to make it work.
I’m aware how many things can go wrong lol. But it’s still doesn’t seem like it should take THAT much effort. The effort would be totally worth the ammount of content it would create

Because anet need to make money somehow ..
Just be glad they aren’t only achievable through RNG boxes anymore.1) They could have made an additional weapon set, like they did with Dry Top’s Ambrite weapons.
2) Yes, they are obtained through RNG only.
Because anet need to make money somehow ..
Just be glad they aren’t only achievable through RNG boxes anymore. But that’s kind of what the Black Lion Chests are…
Back then they weren’t tradeable on TP, but ONLY available through RNG boxes ..
You don’t have to rely on RNG now.The weapon skins were always tradeable on the TP…
But they could avoid the RNG all together by putting weapon tickets on the gemstore directly.
Yes the source of the skins comes from people getting skins through RNG, but you can get them through the TP now aswell from people listing them. Making them much easier to obtain.
And no .. you are wrong. Trust me, or else I wouldn’t had ran about 300 key runs to get my fused ticket 2 years ago lol. You got a fused (or whatever kind) ticket, to a vendor .. And they were NOT tradeable! That was added later into the game. Fused/dragons jade/sclerit (not sure how many more) were not tradeable on TP at release. Sclerit and DJ had special rng boxes, fused were through black lion chests.
My fused GS was more rare then legendaries back then, so yeah .. I would know ^^

P.S. Please don’t use ‘would of…’ instead of ’would’ve/have’ – it’s cramatically completely wrong and hurts my eyes.
You mean dramatically
?
Lol, owned. ‘gramatically’ of course :-)
You typed “gramatically” wrong, that’s a pretty unfortunate typo^^ That’s what the kids call “epic fail”
What makes me giggle is they actually try to make it sound like it’s something huge for the game. Last time there was an ESL finals competition or whatever, i joined 1h after it started the stream just to give it a shot.
Not only was it boring as F, but the viewer number was around 200-300 ppl. Minecraft streams have 10x more.
…but hey let’s invest in something a handful of people are actually interested and let’s just skip the main game.
I couldn’t give less of a kitten about “gw2 esports”. But why shouldn’t they invest in making the pvp experience better for us who enjoys pvp?
For some, this IS the main game.
Because anet need to make money somehow ..

Stop complaining about complainers and play the game!

Troll or serious?
And now that I think about it, a lot of old games handled the presentation of text much better than GW2.
My complaint wasn’t that I have to read, but the way it’s presented, it doesn’t have to be this dry.
When I read the text in GW2 I just see a programmed text box. It doesn’t feel immersive or atmospheric in anyway. And this could be fixed easily.
Ofc it’s entirely opinion based, but yeah .. that’s my opinion ^^

I’m 25 years old. And have played a lot of old school games.
We could all just go back and pick up our gameboy, but lets just realize that gaming development have moved forward.
gz with the item
Just try and forget you have it, and go enjoy the game ( I know, easier said than done)
It will sell sooner or later
If you’re good enough it is. You can’t earn rl cash in PvE.
LoL .. I’m pretty sure this is meant for the average player, and not the 0,0000000000000000000001% who will ever get a real money reward in GW2
Because anet need to make money somehow ..
Just be glad they aren’t only achievable through RNG boxes anymore.
I think it should be equally rewarding.
Wow, this is great news!
Would much rather have a pvp update, than a new LS.
I know hiring voice actors for every single dialogue is costly.
But I feel you can do much better with the dialogue system you have.
It just feels to .. generic ..
I feel a little redesign would help alot.
If I read it of a scroll instead, with nice design and handwriting – with some fitting music in the background, it would be much easier to get immersed into the story I feel like.
Right now for me it’s just a box I have to click through. I try everytime to force myself to read it, but zzzzzzzzzzz ..
I think these are the worst BL skins ever
1st option (most secure) .. Farm everything.
2nd option .. Learn to flip the tp
3rd option .. gather alot of gold, and gamble it all away at once (very depressing, and biggest cause of rage quits in gw2, when you loose it all )
4th option .. (what have worked for me) Don’t bother with farming, play what you enjoy. I do pvp reward tracks for dungeon weapons, and dungeons also for dungeon weapons. I instantly throw the exotics in MF.
This is pure RNG based, but i’ve been kinda lucky this way. Biggest pro about this is that you most likely won’t rage quit with his method xD
There is a big difference in earning enough for a couple forges a day compared to forging 500 g worth of weapons, you know .. on a psychological level ^^
But actually, you don’t have only 1 legendary to show for it. You have 3.
Get back up on the horse and start making another one if you feel like it.
Then look at it this way .. You got 3/5 for legendary collector achievment by getting eternity. That’s the same I’ve got for getting 3 different legendaries. So you’re ahead of me by only crafting 2. Maybe this can comfort you just a bit? Idk.
I wouldn’t really feel I wasted money by not getting asc instead. There is really no use for asc unless you play alot of fractals.
Sure,I could have saved the gold, but what else would I do with it?

We’re absolutely not bringing the China VIP system to NA/EU, correct.
i wouldnt be surprised if “but we make a new system just for you guys” would be added to that in the next few patches…
Why?
Simple.
If they adapt it to a system in which the players get monthly little benefits in the gemstore (anywhere else would be stupid) like a monthly gem presents or discounts and the occasional free item, then it could be interesting.Maybe some other simple cosmetic add ons, like a VIP backpack, VIP Finisher (Why haven`t we seen an arena net logo bursting up around the enemy up till now?), or something for which I am not creative enough at the moment.
To be honest, they could make one without making the game pay to win, but pay to look cool, which it allready is.
They would profit from a regular income and if they are sly, make it able to buy with gems, so people convert gold to gems for monthly subscription and take money out off the economy.
Many possibilites, which wouldn`t be gamebreaking to be honest.
Sure, but all I see on this forum is people whining about Arena Net beeing this greedy company who just wants cash, above all else.
I haven’t ever seen this translated into the game.
Other than just pure guessing and speculation, I don’t see any reason to think that A Net would actually do this.
Guild Wars 2 still have the best business model I’ve ever seen.
I agree that they could make a non gamebreaking VIP system, but worth risking their entire selling point for GW2?
The whining now when they add a skin to the gemstore is already extreme. If they add a VIP fee, no matter how fair – it will be shunned by the community.
