You received in-game mail about this? I just usually get fake emails.
They could at least start with fixing the Fort Marriner Waypoint since it’s stuck being contested.
I think Lion’s Arch destruction and rebuilding was another half thought up idea by Anet like underwater game play. Why take the time to make it fully rebuilt when they could just ignore and deny it’s even there.
Same type of complaint was brought up in GW1 how players said it’s been 4 or 5 years since Ascalon destruction and nothing has changed.
Thank the hackers for this. It’s to help stop them or bots from selling everything on the character in one go.
It decreased a lot for me. Log in, get reward, may or may not do daily then log out. When LS comes back then I’ll start logging in for longer but until then another MMO (not WoW) has all my attention.
Anet designed GW2 solely around a 1 profession set-up when they made the weapons/weapon skills/traits how they are now like how certain professions can only use certain weapons. Unless they ever start to let us pick and choose our skills (not talking about traits) this will never happen or work in-game. The only thing they could do is like others have said is only unlock the other professions traits but what would be the point.
Also like others have said the balancing nightmare that was GW1 set-up was a leading reason they went to this set-up in GW2 for the sake of balancing and simplicity.
Not to forget to bring up in GW1 and the huge amount of skills you could choose from at any given time do to the double profession set up was one of the biggest turn offs to players in the game, more so the people that started to try and get into it since they felt overwhelmed according to Anet. So how did the double profession set up work out in GW1? I would say 90% of all the skills across all the games went unused in favor of the skills that were involved in over powered builds. The in-game economy crashed and the overpowered builds also destroyed player to player interaction. Why find a party when you could just take henchmen/heros or solo?
Anet is overly paranoid about GW2 in-game economy and another reason why they went with this set up is to try and eliminating over powered builds from running the game into the ground and keeping it to where no one profession is better than the others, thus we are stuck with the set-up we have now.
Hey, I don’t have a problem with that. If it can be lured/forced onto dry land for us to take on with a (sensible) method . . . or with a reason such as “to remove it from its element and fight it on our battleground of choice instead of its” . . . I could get behind that.
. . . I mean, why on earth if you had the choice of doing that or fighting an underwater dragon in its home . . . would you do the latter? Why on earth would you intentionally try to take on a dragon in its lair instead of outside it? This is how D&D adventuring parties become dead meat.
The only reasons it worked against Zhaitan were -
- It didn’t seriously think the Pact could do it. It really seemed to think it was invincible even when it was busy shrieking at us from a pillar as cannon fire tore it apart.
- The entire Pact turned up for it with a weapon tuned to pretty much disrupt dragon energy.
- Its element wasn’t something intrinsically dangerous like lava or extreme cold or deep water. It was controlling dead corpses.
You could also come up with a bunch of reasons why we would have to go after it. Just like zhaitan :p You never know how anet will write the story
I know how they will write it. They will write it ,space it out over a year or a year and a half and only present it in 10 to 15 mins of content per LS episode.
the melee part yea is definately annoying, camera zoom is not enough to see well enough to deal with the 360 view and particle effects. Really what Id like more is to explore underwater areas, less for combat/events and more for lore
Yeah but you’ll get the players who will complain and will say stuff like “Why did you make these new UW areas with really nothing in them when you could have spend that time making an expansion, capes, housing/guild halls and mounts!” It’s a lose lose deal for Anet.
Honestly I only have 1 UW area that is my favorite and that is Old Lion’s Arch. I found it fun to swim down there and try and match up the areas from GW1.
I wouldnt mind more underwater stuff, just not as a major thing, some bonus side stuff, like maybe a world boss or something. If we ever get to DSD, oh that uw combat might get really ugly and irritate tons of people
You just sum up why Anet walk away from it. In that article I posted they said one the the huge draw backs to UW combat and the reason a lot of players don’t like it is the 360 degrees of fighting around them and I heard many players say melee fighting underwater is a test of patience and only range weapons like the harpoon gun and trident are really the only weapons suitable for UW game play.
Also what you said about a ton of players underwater would turn into a huge mess is spot on. Best place to look is the champ train in Frostgorge Sound. A lot of players will skip the 2 underwater champs and if you ever do them you know how bad it can be. Players firing in random directions, attacking things by mistake that isn’t the champ. If you use melee you have to get the camera in the right spot and have to non-stop reposition the camera during the fight.
I doubt we will get anything anytime soon. But there is still the unnamed underwater dragon that drove out quaggons and largos. Hes chilling in the unending ocean from what i read. When that dragon becomes active I expect lots of underwater content; A full underwater map[s], underwater world boss and possibly an underwater dungeon. It would be soooo epic for those of us who like underwater content. Including a rebalance of underwater skills. Probably just wishful thinking on my part :]
With the rate we are going getting new content regarding the other dragons and how overall unpopular underwater game play was with the players, I feel that dragon is going to be the last one we get to and I have the feeling it’s going to be turned into an on dry ground battle.
On the gem store is the Lawless skins. We have boots, gloves, shoulders and helmet yet no chest piece or leg piece. Why? When they first started to come out I thought and other players thought it was going to be a full set. Nope guess that was wrong to think.
Did Anet just give up on this or was there some logical reason why the would deign and introduce this armor skin set and leave it incomplete with no chest piece or leg piece?
I’ve only seen that for sale once. Even with all their special sells where they brought back old stuff I’ve never seen that back up for sale or I’ve might just have missed it.
Anet has said the problem with underwater combat/game play was it was to “difficult” for players to get down, not to mention make and program and while they aren’t ruling underwater game play completely out they aren’t going to be adding anymore underwater stuff in the foreseeable future.
http://www.guildmag.com/guild-wars-2-interview-part-2-competitive-balance/
It’s sad really, when they first started talking about Guild Wars 2 underwater game play was one of their big topics just to see it in-game as an after thought and unfinished, something that still feels like it’s in beta. Then to see them say that they are walking away from it with no plans to improve it or add more anytime soon.
Same goes for enemy drops. If they don’t drop anything of value then don’t make them drop anything at all.
Every time an enemy drops something and all it is, is just a junk item I always wonder why Anet took the time to design junk items and program into the game when that time could have been spend on something else.
. .
lol guess its been mentioned. Maybe gw2 will be the game I expect it to be a year from now.
Yes it has. It’s brought up at least once a week or more along with expansion packs, housing/guild halls, mounts and capes.
As for the game may being what you expect in a year don’t hold your breath. We all have what we personally want the game to be now or in the future. Some want the LS to be drop and have Anet only focus on expansion packs, some want GW2 to become a 100% clone of WoW and some don’t care what the game becomes as long as Anet adds everything they personally want and when Anet doesn’t do this they take to these forums and express their opinion that this is proof why the game is “dead”.
What about an expansion, mounts or houses? I think you forgot to mention those.
One thing I heard is the new account restrictions have something to do with preventing CC fraud. It suppose to help prevent people who open a GW2 account with stolen CC info from then using the CC again or another stolen CC to buy gems, convert them into gold then sell the gold for real world money. Usually it takes 3 days or less for a bank or the company that issued the card to inform the card holder of “suspicious” charges hints the wait time in-game.
Good ideas but way to much work on Anets part. They could just do what they did in GW1 and when you do a mission from LS Season 1 you get the same message as in GW1 “You are about to experience events that happened before your arrival.”
I would like to replay the LS Season 1 content I missed but at the same time I want them to work at making LS Season 2 episodes that last longer than 15 mins.
Welcome to the New Player Experience that Anet introduced to the game! Where every player is look at as if they are a complete idiot no matter how long you’ve been playing.
They should wrap up the dragons with s3 this year, and then release an elona expansion based on palawa joko.
I’d prefer cantha but I know that won’t happen.
Yeah and I have great ways to write off the Dragons. Primordus has a giant rock fall onto his head. Jormag dies do to global warming. The Deep Sea Dragon dies do to all the pollution we dump into the ocean and Kralkatorrik, well we just conveniently find him dead.
Don’t hold your breath. Good chance no new skins/costumes will be added until Wintersday ends and LS Season 2 returns.
What happened with this game is just sad.
There was so much involvement, good spirit, hype, talent, and excitement. Something good was coming.
Today’s game is an abandoned theme park, rusting under too much grind, 0 content, where the remaining maintenance crew tries to keep PR appearances of … Exiting™.
It’s not. It’s gone, and we’re left with a terrible 2nd year. The only reason to log is the casual dungeon run with two friends in a free game. Everything else is a bad ascended traited luminecent halloween-lottery’d winter-grind bore, to name the recent, or Orr, personal story, weapons, professions, and world, to name the usuals.
Gem purchases have been on hold since fractal-reset, and not changing anytime Soon™.
… Since Dec 2012 things just went wrong. It’s a shame.
To hit on a few from your list from the link:
Dyeable weapons? Would be nice.
- # of craftable precursors: 0- isn’t the point to getting a legendary weapon to be hard? Crafting a precursor would = more grinding.
- of lore to legendaries: 0- what point would that serve?
- of players in Cantha/Elona: 0- we are no where near completing mainland Tyria why suddenly take the story elsewhere?
- of new reachable dragons: 0- We are heading towards Mordremoth in LS Season 2 but I guess it would have been better to make the very first update for LS Season 2 a mission to head right to Mordremoth, fight him and kill him. Screw the story leading us up to him. WE NEED ACTION!

New dungeon paths don’t count for new dungeons and LS Season 2 and the 2 new maps don’t count toward anything? This year more has been added to the game than last year. That list you made is just personal wants and if they add all that stuff, that won’t be really “adding” to the game.
Also let’s not forget ascended weapons/armor but I’m guessing that doesn’t count as anything “new”.

So, we are heading into about 2 1/2 years of the game being released and we haven’t killed another Elder Dragon yet and we have 5 to go.
and dont’ forget about the egg…
dragons are making babies too…
Glint was another creature before being corrupted by Kralkatorrik and before the Forgotten broke his hold on her. So that may have been why she was able to produce offspring with the powers and magic Kralkatorrik gave to her.
Also if you choose to help the Skritt in your personal story another theory why dragon minions can produce offspring is that they may have been a living creature already pregnant before getting corrupted.
Why do players have to shout and make it known to everyone they are quitting? More so if it’s over “I can’t win so I’m quitting” as if that will make Anet jump in and save the day.
I’ve been saying this for a long time, the only way Anet can make these type of players happy is if they make it to were in PvP or WvW all of your attacks do 0 damage and in the end everyone wins.
I honestly think Anet doesn’t know how to introduce the other dragons like Kralkatorrik since it would involve Elona and the Deep Sea Dragon since it might involve Cantha with their current set up. Like how I think Anet doesn’t know how to introduce new weapons/skills/races/professions with their current set up.
But to Hannelore.8153 all the Elder Dragons are “super” dragons in a way. Kralkatorrik can corrupt anything and anyone he wants by simply flying over it. Primordus has complete control of the underground and can make minions just out of fire and rock allowing them to show up anywhere in Tyria. The Deep Sea Dragon has complete control of the ocean and Jormag has control of all the frozen north. How the LS Season 2 story is going Mordremoth just awoke and spreading his minions out just like the other Dragons did. He’s simply flexing his muscles. Mordremoth is the 1st dragon we have seen actually awake in-game so of course he comes off as god like just how the other dragons would have seemed if the awoke in-game.

I feel the people that call the new system restricted have a point. The old system gave players a wide range of ways to get their daily. The new daily system makes you choose from from what’s currently available that day, aka restricted.
Say a player never does PvP, WvW or dungeons. The old system gave them multiple ways to get their daily in PvE by harvesting/mining/cutting down trees, do jumping puzzles, revive players or npc’s, salvage items, Daily Kill Variety, Daily Kills, Daily Veteran Slayer, Costume Brawl Champion, Skill Interrupter and Condition Remover to name a few.
Now PvE players just have chop down trees/mining/gathering plants, which only one of those are available each day.
Craft exotic weapon- if a player doesn’t have a trade leveled to where they can make an exotic weapon this daily can’t be done.
View 1 vista in (insert area name).
Daily Fractal- like I said if a player doesn’t do dungeons this daily is off the check list.
Defeat (insert name) world boss- if you just miss the boss battle, well have fun waiting 3 hours for it to spawn again.
Do events in (insert area name)- this can be tedious with the large amount of players bum rushing the map where the events have to be done so finding an event, participating in the event and getting credit for it is pure luck.
Daily Mystic Forger- I’ve only seen this daily once.
To add to the problem of “restriction” only 3 or 4 PvE dailies are available each day with the 4th always seeming to be doing Fractals.
They need to add more PvE dailies and add more to choose from each day or go back to the old system that wasn’t broken to begin with!
Why does food need it’s own skill bar? It takes less than 30 secs to open your inventory select the food you want.
1. More jumping puzzles- With the new jumping puzzle added to The Silverwastes more will be added in the future.
2. More mini-games- As long as new players don’t get confused by them they will likely add more.
3. Housing- guild halls would solve this problem
4. Guild halls- Been talk that Anet might add this. Since it was in GW1 it’s likely going to happen at some point in GW2.
5. Fishing- This is new but not likely to happen since it would only really effect the cooking trade.
6. Sailing- Also new but not happening. Where do you need a sail boat in GW2? Also Anet has basically said they have walk away from underwater combat for the long run.
7. Gardening (could be done with housing)- Plants grow everywhere in GW2 and doesn’t need to have a farming simulator added in.
You can also report people in-game.
I just dont get hackers and why arent they getting fines like speed violations?
That would be impossible because Anet would have to work out something in each country the game is played and set up a fine for players that are caught hacking. Also the only way to fine a hacker is to make hacking Guild Wars 2 accounts against the law in every country the game is played in.
Not only that but if they did want to do this they don’t have to the money, resources and people to first track the IP address back to the country of origin, find the internet provider the IP address is coming from, contact the police in that country to have the internet provider hand over the account info of the person who the IP address is attach to, take the person to court to be found guilty of hacking the Guild Wars 2 account and be order to pay the fine.
Some people like to roleplay so I think that’s why Anet doesn’t want to limit emotes across the board. What I would like to see is a control in Options to limit emotes. Then you could toggle on a limit of the same emote 3 times or whatever.
I’ve seen people roleplay but how is sitting non-stop, cheering non-stop, laughing non-stop and so on look at as roleplay?
I agree something should be done like someone spamming the same emote should get muted like someone spamming chat or give us an option to turn them off so they won’t appear in the chat.
If they fix this like they fixed Chat spamming, that means you get to emote 3 times and then you can’t emote for 10 minutes… Yea, that’s not gonna make for a happy RP community.
My point is if someone spams the same emote over and over again in a short time that should be look at as spamming like how posting the same message in chat over and over again in a short time is look at as spamming and results in being muted.
Also I’m still having a hard time understanding how spamming the sit emote or something like that 15 times in 10 seconds is somehow involved in RP.
I understood what you meant, I’m just telling you that it’s better if they don’t fix it. Spamming the same emote 15 times has nothing to do with RP’ing, however most of us don’t trust Anet to fix this kind of thing, because it will end up like the chat system. If it used the chat system from day 1, I don’t think anyone would complain about it, but making that change now will irk a decent sized community (one of which I’m not apart of, I just know what they’ve been unhappy about it the past)
Like I said I’ve seen players use the emote chat to RP and I and probably no one else sees that as spamming and if emote chat had a mute feature like the main chat them saying something different each time they wouldn’t have to be worried about getting muted like people not saying the very same thing over and over again in the main chat don’t have to worry about being muted.
Spamming the same emote again and again is just like spamming the main chat thus there should be a negative outcome but like another person posted there is a way to turn off emotes that I had completely forgotten about.
or give us an option to turn them off so they won’t appear in the chat.
This is already possible. Click the little arrow next to the name of the chat tab you’re using (called Tab Options) and uncheck Emotes, the 3rd option up from the bottom of the list.
Well I’ll be. I thought I remembered the game having something like this but couldn’t remember it off the top of my head.

The one thing that really bugs me about this new system is it seems Anet was thinking more about PvP and WvW when it came to the new system and PvE was just an after thought. Not everyone does PvP or WvW.
PvE has cut trees in this location, mine in this location, complete events in this location, view a vista in this location, defeat this world boss, do Fractals (why is that even under PvE) or craft an exotic item.
The problem is only 3 or 4 PvE dailies are available each day. Yes I know you only need 3 but only one gathering daily is up per day, and viewing the vista may not be included. If someone doesn’t do dungeons that daily is out of the question. If you just miss the world boss you have to wait 3 hours before it spawns again. The complete 4 events in a certain area can be tedious do to the huge amount of players that are bum rushing the area making finding an event, taking part in it before it’s over and get credit for it purely luck and if someone doesn’t have a trade leveled where they can make an exotic item of whatever that daily can’t be done.
They need to make more and have more PvE dailies available each day. They could add something new like do a certain jumping puzzle or do a certain amount of jumping puzzles a day, refine a certain amount of a certain material such as cooper ore being refined into cooper ingots or bronze ingots, create a Deldrimor Steel Ingot or Spiritwood Plank (this would help older players have something to do that will take a bit to finish), kill enemies with a certain weapon based on profession, something like Rangers using a longbow, Necros using a axe, Mesmers using a scepter, Thief using a dagger, Engineers using a rifle, Warriors using a hammer, Elementalists using a staff and Guardians using a greatsword.
Some people like to roleplay so I think that’s why Anet doesn’t want to limit emotes across the board. What I would like to see is a control in Options to limit emotes. Then you could toggle on a limit of the same emote 3 times or whatever.

People will always complain even if they did this, why? For them it wasn’t enough content.
One more argument against. The clipping on the capes would make them hideous looking on the charr.
with decent enough coding, that can be avoided.
The best super hero game in the world (RIP CoH
) got capes just perfect
To bad so far in the game many items/weapons/armor already have bad clipping problems that have yet been fix since Anet has shown they have little to no care about it.
What about that portal to another area we can’t reach in Brisban Wildlands in the north part of the Lionshead Outcrops area that’s been there since beta? That’s more of a mystery to me when I first saw it.
Hopefuly it leads to a new map in a future update since it’s in the general area LS Season 2 is located.
GW2 is repetitive but what online MMO isn’t after you play for a while. GW1 was the same way. After you got done with the story’s you just have side quests, grinding for material to make new armor and other stuff. At least GW1 main missions could be replayed and actually made you put some thought into it and made you plan it out. Also GW1 missions were much longer than GW2 missions that can be beat in under 10 mins while GW1 missions could take you 15 mins or longer.
This would be nice but with Anets whole silent treatment it’s very VERY unlikely they will do it.
I think they do this as a way to surprise players. Instead of giving us a heads up on what is planned in the future they rather pop out and yell “surprise”, leaving some players always thinking the next surprise will be the big one.
This can be a bad thing because when Anet finally shows up with the big surprise and pops out and yells they are probably going to ask “Where is everyone?”
Would this be a viable solution to have more “play your way” variety in the dailies?
Yeah it’s called them going back to the old set-up and since this new daily system just got released they are still hammer out the dents.
You do know you have more than just 4 daily achievements to choose from.
As for the large swarm of players that show up to do the world boss daily and it in turn slows down your computer or other computers, that’s been happening even before the patch. There has always been a train of players going from one event to the another everyday at any given time.
What’s fun and what isn’t all comes down to players personal thoughts on the matter.
What you may find fun, I may not, what I find fun you may not.
Anet tries to cater to everyone not just one set of players in GW2. Some players may want new content to be much harder, other players would hate that idea because it would make the game un-fun for them, so Anet can’t please everyone and aims for the middle ground.
It’s broken and, according to Anet, will not be fixed this Wintersday. Please try again in 2015.
Where did you find Anet saying they won’t fix it? They aren’t going to add something that’s broken and walk away not fixing it.
Rewarding us just for logging in is bull. I agree on that.
Giving constructive criticism you will find goes much further than posting a topic saying you are quitting the game over the changes.
Anet does listen to the complaints but only if it gives good points why something is bad instead of just a rant on how much you now hate the game.
For example, when the NPE came along and unlocking the elite skill slot was moved up to level 40, people voiced their dislike on it and it got moved back down to unlocking at level 31 (or 30 I forget). Same thing with the new level requirements when it came to unlocking all your traits slots. People dislike it and gave points why it was a bad move to have all your skill slots not be unlock until level 40 and that to got changed.
I remember making a joke when the NPE came along and said “What’s next? Will Anet reward us for figuring out how to log in?” and now they did just that.
Honestly I like the old dailies set up. Sure they where just mindless grinding to get them but it at least took a bit to get it.
Take today, I got the the cut down trees in Kryta, view a vista in Ascalon and spend 50 badges of honor. Took me a total of 15 mins to get my daily.
They made getting the daily 100x more easy to get than before.
I can just see now what future daily updates will look like, “Move forward one step”, “Use a weapon skill”, “Open inventory”, “Say something in chat”, “Buy something from trading post”, “Jump one time”, “Attack something” and so on.
Would also be great if the armor had ascended stats. Farm grinding for materials isn’t for everyone and grinding to get a trade up to 500 can also be a pain.
An example after I finally built an ascended long bow for my ranger I took about a 2 month break since I burned myself out on the game.
Out of all the jumping puzzles in the game this has to be my favorite. Mainly because it’s the longest. My 1st run took me a little over 10 mins and I loved how it felt like I was exploring instead of just jumping for platform to platform.
To find the next closest trait you can always use the wiki.
That event is back.
