If they would make the LS episodes longer than 15 mins to something like an hour or longer people would calm down over the expansion that may never happen.

The only reason why the airship is there is do to the LS season 1 content when Lion’s Arch got attack.

If Lion’s Arch ever gets fully rebuilt in the near future I strongly think the Airship will get removed.

Then why would they sell a 2 week version?

Because the airship is still in the game.

I was always wonders how some ppl are constantly out of content. I play 10 hours every day since headstart and still dont have enough time to do everything I want that day.

That’s because they run out of stuff to do based on what they view as “content” or what they view as “new content”. To them “new content” may only be stuff added from an expansion pack or “new content” is when Anet finally gives in and adds the stuff they want or make GW2 a 100% WoW clone.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my post.

It looks like I will be purchasing the season two living story events This is good news, I generally bought something from the gem store every month in lieu of a subscription anyway

Thank you once again!

Then they can simply not use the waypoints. GW2 biggest maps still aren’t that big where walking from one side to the other takes a while and since like I said the game basically hands you speed boosts, that makes exploring even faster.

Magic carpet, sonic tunneling tool and riding broom, 3 things you can buy on the gems store right now and the closest thing Anet will probably ever make when it comes to “mounts”

So with that the mount situation is already covered and players can ignore those items all they want but they are still technically “mounts” just not in the way they might view and think mounts should look like.

As for housing, if the OP isn’t thinking of something like Guild Halls, GW2 doesn’t need to turn into The Sims: Guild Wars 2 Edition.

My HOPES for the future,

1. It doesn’t take another 2 years to get to a new Elder Dragon.
2. More spaced out LS Episodes which = longer LS Episodes that take longer than 15 mins to complete.
3. Longer LS missions that actually take some thought to complete, unlike the ones now you can run threw with your eyes closed and still beat in 5 mins.
4. Larger more detailed maps like the ones at launch with new hearts, multiple zones, POI, Vistas, Skill challenges, events and so on.
5. New armor for all classes.
6. New weapons/skills/existing weapons being used by other professtions.
7. New professions
8. An expansion (I’m not holding my breath).
9. New race

Is "Living Story" interesting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

joshc.3129

Season 2 has been good so far. Like how it follows one story line instead of jumping all around and coming together at the end of Season 1 and the new maps and what not are always good.

What I don’t like, since new maps and other stuff are being made and added in Season 2 the actual story missions in each episode have suffered as a result.

Take the last 2 episodes, I was done with the story missions in about 15 mins.

When Anet decided to make new areas and new things to do in the new areas they should have drop the 2 week releases and gone to what I have suggested and others have agreed, a once a month release schedule. That would have given them more time to work on the new maps and work on making the LS missions longer or at the least make more of them.

Hopefully Anet will do something like this for Season 3 but I’m not holding my breath.

I think the story is interesting. I wish I was here to play the previous season of living story, but I hear they’re gonna re-release them at some point. Hopefully it won’t cost too many gems to unlock them.

If you weren’t too impressed by what you left the game with, then go on youtube and watch some of the beginning of the living story season and see if it interests you.

If the youtube videos interest you, go for it. If not, just play the stuff that’s going on right now for the rewards it gives you.

I refuse to come back to this game to simply collect rewards from boring content. As the poster above stated “meat and potatoes”, not a glass of water.

Then don’t, no is making you since there is no subscription fee and good chance you don’t buy gems (aka supporting the game) to help Anet make more FREE boring content you’re not adding anything to the game.

Also name 1 online MMO that after you complete the main stuff the game doesn’t dissolve into “collecting” things.

Since Anet has basically walk away from underwater game play I don’t see this happening.

Wouldn’t be worth the time/money to make it for a game that is 98% on land and 2% underwater.

Which is a shame tbh. So much lost potential, at least for exploration purposes… and largos.

In an interview once when ask about underwater gameplay this is what Anet said:

GuildMag: “Will we be seeing underwater combat making a comeback to PvP, or in general to World versus World and PvE?”

Devon Carver: “Not really. The biggest issue is that underwater combat is something that requires a lot of skill, and the system… our system just requires a lot… you need to be very, very cognizant(?) of everything that’s going on with underwater combat. We felt like for PvP it just wasn’t…, for the majority of players it was just too confusing so that’s the reason that we pulled it out of PvP. For World v. World, it’s a little bit of a different story; that’s more of a question of, you know, if we were to say do additional maps or make any other changes to the maps that we have in place, I wouldn’t say that we would categorically say “no there won’t be underwater”, there’d be very much a case of “is this a map that it feels like underwater makes sense, is it a place where there’s a good reason to have water there?” So it’s definitely not, you know, completely off the table for World versus World, but we don’t right now have plans to say like “add a giant lake back”, or “turn everything into an ocean” or anything crazy like that.”

GuildMag: “And are we going to see more underwater combat come to PvE?”

Devon Carver: “It’s kind of the same answer. I mean honestly, it’s very much a map-by-map basis, so you know you look at Dry Top; not particularly well-suited to underwater combat, but that being said, you know, if future Living World updates took us into more of… like the asura territory, or even, you know, areas like Bloodtide Coast or some of that, then it’s absolutely possible that we would do more underwater combat. So it’s not a system that we’re saying like “no, no more underwater ever”, but you know, it’s very much what makes sense with the content that we’re building.”

Underwater combat may come back if we ever get around to the Deep Sea Dragon, if Anet doesn’t make it into a on-land battle or find some way to write that dragon off completely.

Totally agree. I miss how in GW1 in a town/outposts there was a drop down menu to show you how many copies of the map was active and if it was full you would be told that.

This needs to be made for GW2 so it’s not by chance if you spawn on a populated map or a map that is empty just to be told in no time more or less with a message “The map you are on has a low population would you like to go to a more populated map?”

The fact that it’s been unclear on how to report people with /report suggests to me that there may be need for it. It’s odd that there isn’t an option for hacks/non-hack related exploits.

Hacks fall into botting and where you can add more detail, there you can point out it’s a hack they are using.

As for game exploits it’s hard for normal players to see if someone is abusing an exploit do to a game update flaw for an example. Before anyone hears about it Anet will probably have too and they can easily look at the data to see who was abusing it and ban them.

You can report what you may think is an exploit but if there was a way to report them via the report feature Anet would get bombarded with reports of people who may think another player is abusing an exploit do to a game flaw. With the constant flow of reports do to harassment, bots, gold selling spammers and trolls reporting just because they don’t need this to be included.

When will Zaishen Missions return?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: joshc.3129

joshc.3129

The Zaishen Missions was added late into GW1 run simply as filler, a means to give players something to do and like you said GW1 and GW2 are 2 very different games.

If they do add it (which I don’t think they would) it would be completely different than it was in GW1 because things work differently.

Take the Zaishen Missions
Zaishen Mission: GW2 personal missions can’t be replayed unlike GW1 missions. Only the living story can and you have to replay the episode in mission order, not pick and choice what mission you want to play. Also I think when you replay an episode for a second time you have to pay gems to do it again.

Zaishen Bounty: GW2 doesn’t have “bosses” like GW1. So the only way they can make this work is if the bosses were world event bosses.

Zaishen Combat: Gw2 PvP is different than GW1 so it to would have to be overhauled. Also Anet saw in GW1 this bounty could easily be exploited. “Red resign day” ring a bell to anyone that remembers it? So since Anet is 100x more paranoid about GW2 in-game economy I don’t see it happening.

Zaishen Vanquish: Would have to be something entirely different since unlike GW1 in GW2 you don’t get your own personal copy of the map when you go out into the world where everything you kill stays dead.

Do people really think spamming the forums with the same topics like “Mounts” or “we want an expansion” multiple times a week or even multiple times a day is going to make Anet drop what they are doing and make/add them?

If they did add “mounts” they would be more for show than anything else. The maps in-game are already small. You can walk from on side to the other in no time. Also mounts wouldn’t have faster moment speeds since they are multiple ways to get speed boosts right now.

There is "probably" no expansion, its a myth

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: joshc.3129

joshc.3129

I would be more than happy with LS replacing the traditional expansion pack if Anet swifts it’s focus away from the 2 weeks “Let’s get new LS content out as fast as possible” and possibly go to a once a month release schedule so they have more time to add more meat into the releases, like larger more detailed maps, possible new weapons/skills and most important more longer in-detailed story missions that you can’t run threw in 5 or 10 mins with your eyes close and no effort.

Take the last LS update Tangled Paths, I enjoyed it but at the same time it was pathetic how short it was. 2 VERY SHORT missions (3 if you can even count “Return to Camp Resolve” as a mission) that I got done in around 30 mins.

A once a month release schedule allowing Anet to add more meat to the LS episodes I think will help a lot of players that are crying about the lack of content. The main problem I see coming from those players is they seem to completely forget about the LS episode that came before when a new one is released, as if it was wipe from their memory.

Most complaints from players is for more content with more put into it not necessarily a large amount of content at once. So if Anet can put more into the LS episodes I think that will help in the long run.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I have the feeling Anet is going to stick to the LS as the “Expansion” because think about it, if you replay S2 from start to when it finally finishes and if we ever get to be able to replay S1 that is an expansion pack worth of content. Just not what people normally think of expansions, large new maps, new races / professions, skills, weapons and so on.

Players tend to forget that since LS is feed to us at a snails pace, where new releases take 2 hours at best to beat (or with the last one roughly 30mins).

I like LS but at this pace it’s going to be 8 years until all the dragons are included.

How I view Anet’s take on adding new weapons/weapon skills, races and so on is they back themselves into a corner and don’t know how to go about making them and including them because of how the game was made. Take the Sims 4, EA found out people don’t like how everything they loved from the last one was strip out but said the CAN’T include that stuff do to how it’s was made. I think Anet is in the same boat, they would love to add stuff like that but don’t know how to do it do to the way the game was made and just naturally thought people would love the game for how it was made and never ask for anything new.

As for the chance of an expansion and people thinking it will be $60, way back when, when Anet commented on this they said if expansions were made it would be more inline with EOTN and not stand alone games like Factions or Nightfall, so if an expansion is made it will probably be around $40 not $60.

Anet is working on "Stuff"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: joshc.3129

joshc.3129

I never supported the idea of players demanding Anet to tell us what they are working on but I do wish they would tell us more than they are working on “stuff”.

Say they are working on an expansion like EOTN, them not telling us or hinting isn’t helping anyone, them or the players.

I like the LS but I don’t see how it’s going to keep the game going in the long run. At the rate it’s going it took a little over 2 years to finally get around to a new Elder Dragon (you know the main enemies in the game) so at this pace we’ll finally finish up with them in the next 10 years.

Anet keeping everything a secret is just going to hurt the game because players main complaints on the game always boil down to the same thing, Anet only cares about the LS and gem store, they show no interest in adding new weapons, skills, classes, races and so on.

Oh I’m sorry was the creation of entirely new game maps, tons of new weapon skins and new armor, and a lore progression not enough for you?

All you with your excessive complaints need to stop trying to milk that $60 you spent on the game 2 years ago. How many of you are buying gems more than once a year to support new content? The gem store is what funds new content. The up-front cost of the game just covered the cost of making the game we had on release.

If you can, please spend some gems every once in a while. You get a nice treat and you can be happy knowing you’re contributing to new content.

Ok sir…………… now to you

This is the icing on the cake.

When i bought the game for 60$ i was told something like that……..
An always evolving living world always changing where no day is like the day before.
They also had advert. videos on with a chick in a Taxi bragging how the world is changing on a daily base. Where no day is like the day before !!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what i bought with my 60$ period.
They didn’t say it is changing and evolving when i spend money on the gem store.

The next thing is that absolutely everything in this game is timer based…. world bosses,
bosses or whatever you want… it’s always happening at the same time or i a fixed cycle.
Dungeons are always the same… Fractals are always the same ……..

Does this sound like every day is new and not like the day before ??

And you come in here demanding people should spend money on the Gem Store
to support this borderline lie ??

And last but most important …………………….

People don’t want more content they want quality content.
All your new maps and weapons new skills have one thing in common.
They are utterly useless from a player point of view !!!!!!!!!
What is it 2 new maps ? What are you doing there ???? Right…. farmind grind.
The maps make absolutely no sense from player point of view who is not into farming.

These maps are an excuse to tell the people ….. we did new maps.

And i better stop here before i say something and get my account suspended for 3 days

You’re disappointed because the game didn’t turn out to be what you thought it was going to be by the way you imagined it when you read about it.

“They didn’t say it is changing and evolving when i spend money on the gem store.” Because developing new content and being able to run a company and paying employees doesn’t require money.

“The next thing is that absolutely everything in this game is timer based…. world bosses,
bosses or whatever you want… it’s always happening at the same time or i a fixed cycle.
Dungeons are always the same… Fractals are always the same ……..”
So is every other online mmo. Everything has a timer, when enemies/bosses/events re-spawn. How would the game be fun if certain bosses or events only happened like say once a mouth? As for everything always being the same, yeah it’s just like every other online mmo. Everything is always the same.

“People don’t want more content they want quality content.”
Which is more content and what you think is quality content and what others think quality content is, is two very different things.

“All your new maps and weapons new skills have one thing in common. They are utterly useless from a player point of view !!!!!!!!!”
You mean from your point of view not from the player base point of view as a whole.

“What is it 2 new maps ? What are you doing there ???? Right…. farmind grind. The maps make absolutely no sense from player point of view who is not into farming.” Again from your point of view not the player base as a whole. What else can they put into maps other than repeat events that players can redo again and again aka farming? You don’t have to farm you could just play the events for fun.

“These maps are an excuse to tell the people ….. we did new maps.”
Yeah because anyway you look at it 2 new maps still = new maps. You may not like the 2 new maps but it’s still new content.

Something Has to Change!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

joshc.3129

Ok so here is my issue:the pve experience to me after the first character is horrible. we have to go re explore the same locations over and over and over again. Spend hours walking to just get the wp by a dungeon that we may or may not be able to complete. the LFG system is pathetic considering the fact that it will not port you from any where on the map inside the dungeon.

so here are my 3 fixes to improve the pve experience for people that plan to or are leveling more then 1 toon:

1) give us mounts! OMG i know i said the dreaded m word, but here is why: yes there are lots of wps in the world but you still have to go near them to unlock them witch equates into countless hours of walking around. Mounts will increase our speed and still alow for the exploration of the world in its entirety. i would ask for land and water mounts similar to the pet systems for a ranger.

2) make WP’s account unlock so we can port to where we want to go on a new toon after one of our toons has been there. some of us players just want to get to a cetain dungeon or spot in an area w/o the hassle of walking through it all over again. POI and Vistas will still remain toon unlocks and if a player wants to get the map completion they will sstill have to go and get all of those per toon. thus preserving the exploration factor with event systems of players helping players.

3) fix the LFG system to make it port you inside the dungeon its self. when you leave it returns you to the last location of you toon. this will keep the same feel for the game as it has now but for those of us who pvp/wvw/ and eotm level out toons we are no longer punished for not exploring the majority of the world when we just want to do a few dungeons.

I really hope you guys consider and implement one of these fixes as to improve the pve experience for pvp, wvw, and eotm levelers as well as the game as a whole. Thank you for you time.

1. The maps aren’t that big, you can walk from one side to the other in about 5 mins.
2. How would making WP’s account wide unlock allow players to still be able to “explore the world” with a new character when everything is basically already unlock? Also what’s the point of being able to teleport a lvl 2 character to Orr or another high level area?
3. Heaven forbid you have to take 10 seconds to open the map and chose the WP next to the dungeon you want to go to.

In conclusion, mounts aren’t needed since the maps aren’t big. If they did ever make mounts good chance they would move as fast as a character on foot does now and be more for show than anything else. Having to re-unlock everything again on maps with a new character/class means you play the map differently since it’s a new class and having to teleport to the WP by the dungeon you want to play takes like 10 secs.

Mordrem & Chests

I never had one run up to me when it wasn’t close to the chests unless I drew it with me somehow but if it’s near it or you, you are still in it’s attack priority area.

It’s just not them, every other animal and elemental will also do this. The problem I think is The Silverwastes is horrible over crowded when it come to enemies. With events that spawn a large amount of Mordrem starting what feels like every 5 mins and the other wild life, when I spot a chest and get over to it I usually have 3 to 5 enemies following behind me.

What needs to happen is the wild life not Mordrem needs to be trimmed back. With the hold the fort events happening non-stop, escort the caravan appearing every minute that can spawn 3 or 5 Mordrem and the over populated wild life, a fight against 3 or 4 foes can change to a fight between 6 or more in a heart beat.

As for the cripple thing yeah I agree. Being attack by hyenas ever few steps that cripple me is a pain.

Suggestion: Unlocking Weapon Skills

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Exactly what I’ve been saying all along since the NPE came out.

It was easier for players to learn the weapons skills by slowly unlocking them by killing things rather than having them unlock all at once if you never used the weapon before.

Example, Warriors and Rangers using swords or axes. 2 very different play styles when it come to skills. Unlocking the skills one by one while killing things made it easier to learn the different styles.

The NPE was meant to help new players by making things less confusing yet they in turn possibly made it more confusing when it comes to weapon skills.

Reverting the Changes Made by the NPE?

The whole reason why I have no desire to make a new character. I want to jump into the game, get all my weapon skills in one go then work on leveling. Not be spoon fed the game slowly and get a slap on the wrist when I try to play the game to fast.

In their defense they did go back and change some of the stuff. Like undoing getting your elite skill slot from lvl 40 to 31 or 30 (I forget).

Only thing I have against LS is it’s always to short. Take the last one. Had it done in an hour.

New map nope, just a new part of the last one where you die in a second…….. No joke.

Hopefully LS Season 3 can be a once a month thing to make the updates bigger.

How it normally goes

Player “We demand new content NOW!”
Anet “Look we added new content.”
Player “Should have already been in the game, doesn’t count. We demand NEW content”
Anet “We just thought of it last month.”
Player “Doesn’t count, should have been in the game 2 years ago.”

Last Cinematic- Do we get Cristal Desert?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: joshc.3129

joshc.3129

In the Pale Tree vision, we didn’t know what we saw. In the last episode, in the Labyrinth, the player character explains that she saw the Pale Tree Cristal Desert vision. We now know that what we saw in that cinematic is Crystal Deset.

According to the wiki and what I saw, except Eir’s and Caithe’s recounting of Destiny’s Edge battle with Glint and Kralkatorrik – the climax of the novel Edge of Destiny – there is no mention of the Crystal Desert in the entirety of Episode 7 – and this was in the first instance (for Eir) and second instance (for Caithe), not the labyrinth (third instance). There is no mention of a “vision” “desert” or “crystal” in the labyrinth’s instance.

As for the PC talking about the vision, all the PC says is seeing an egg and a “golden location” which the PC suspects the Master of Peace is heading towards.

And the Master of Peace was heading west – the Crystal Desert is far across the continent, on the other side of Labyrinthine Cliffs where the Zephyrites left from. I don’t see us going to the Crystal Desert.

Though arguably one can saw we did go to the Crystal Desert – via the portal in the Durmand Priory basement, to Glint’s Lair.

yes and why is the Master of Peace running in the opposite direction?

To get as far away as possible…. but now that Caithe grabbed it I guess she will be intercepted by “someone” and we might actually land in the Crystal Desert after all… but only guessing on this.

Season 2 has been heading up towards the fight with Mordremoth but I guess it makes total sense to head in the opposite direction and go to the Crystal Desert mid way thru Season 2 because as we all know the Branded and more so Kralkatorrik has been the main enemies all along.

[Suggestion] Increase the character slots

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

joshc.3129

Hi,
I’d like to suggest an increasing of the character slots since I’d like to create more characters, hehehehe.
No but for real, ya I may be crazy to have THAT many characters but it’s fun! I would like to create more of the ones I am currently having now. Mostly because I’d like to create the opponent gender since I got no Male norns, sylvari, charr or asura, yet.

So I would be fun to have some male characters except for human ones.
Increase the limit to 80 or higher, or something like that.

Reason why I do have that many characters is mostly like the same reason as I did in Guild Wars, they have each their own hairstyles, looking and armors.
Sylvari only wear Sylvariish looking armors and weapons and vice versa with Charr and Asura..
Norns and Humans are a bit different for me, my humans can basically wear everything since it look best at their models and norns only wear Norn-looking armor, cultural armors and weapons..

I 100% totally agree with you they need to expand it. 64 Slots on 1 account is to few! I was really upset when I went to buy my 65th character slot and I was told I had the max amount of slots allowed on my account. (sarcasm).

Buy new character slots via the gem store and help support Anet and help earn them money so they can keep adding to the game.

the Water Weapons such a waste of models

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Since they removed underwater combat from sPvP, I am convince there will be no update for it at all, unless some random code issue get through that breaks it or Season 3 is all about Bubbles.

We aren’t going to see Bubbles soon unless we go to Cantha and even then I feel like it will be a on land battle. Also since South Korea and China still can’t get along we aren’t going to see Cantha soon. Hints why the Cantha district in DR got turned into a giant hole because they hated how Anet mix South Korean and Chinese styles together.

Also Underwater gameplay at this point has to be completely overhauled and since Anet has said underwater combat was “hard” for players to get a grasp on they aren’t going to go back to it anytime soon. Look how dumb down they made on land gameplay with the NPE. How would they make underwater combat that simple?

Too many sell orders

“You’ve placed too many sell orders, please wait a few minutes”.

Do you think I have all day to get this stuff sold on my inventory?

You have bots and hackers to thank for this. This prevents bots from selling items in mass before heading out into the game world to bot some more and to prevent hackers from selling everything on the account in like 2 mins.

Same reason why you may be muted in chat for saying the same thing over and over again. It prevents bots from mass spamming about selling gold.

bots might be their explanation for having it, but this implementation of bot-prevention is actually better for bots that people.
A person will sell 7 things, get the error, curse, go do other things, come back and hour later, sell 7 things, get the error curse, go do other things. 7 listings per hour.
A bot will be programmed to sell 6 things, wait 30 seconds, sell 6 things, wait 30 seconds, etc. 720 listings per hour. Also, why would a bot need to offload massive amounts at one time to begin with? There’s no reason it couldn’t be written like this: “gather this tree, sell 3 logs on the TP, gather this ore, sell 3 ore on the TP, etc.”

A better implementation would be to limit it to 1 listing every 2 seconds. So both bots and people would be limited to 1800 listings per hour.
Or, best of all would be to have no restrictions, but flag any account that lists 10 things in a second or 100 things in a minute, investigate, ban.

And hackers are not as pressed for time as you say. They already have control of the account, they don’t need to get in and out before they are noticed. It’s not like in the movies where they wrestle control away and take what they can before it’s wrestled back. at best, they have at least a day before the original owner contacts tech support and are confirmed to be the owners.

I have found a way around this restriction, it’s still a pain but just city hop. You go from DR after getting the message to say LA and you are allowed to sell again until the message pops up, then just city hop until you are done.

The Pros and Cons of Farming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I fall into the middle I don’t care about players mass farming or those wanting to do events.

When it comes to my personal option other players should learn to respect each other and there is no right or wrong answer.

What it boils down to is players starting an argument over it when it comes to how they view the game should be played and other players that aren’t playing it their way is doing it wrong and shouldn’t be allowed to play.
