Would love to see new weapon’s like a battle axe or existing weapons able to be used on new profession and since Anet has basically walk away from underwater gameplay be able to use spears and/or tridents on land.

1. Pretty graphics that look 100% better than WoW even after the update, LOL
2. What ever you want to do.
3. Depends on what you would enjoy and not what other players enjoy. For me I have two mains, a Warrior and Ranger both Human.
4. What ever you want
5. Comes down to what you think is fun and what you want to do to have said fun.

I’ve tried to look elsewhere for this answer but every site I’ve gone to is dead and only show the old builds based on the old trait system before the overhaul.

Anyone know of a up to date site for this?

Ideal for Silverwastes. That place is unbearable without speed skills. I doubt the game has the scale though. It wouldn’t ‘fit in’, like that other MMO which it does like a glove.

What?!? From the waypoint to the other side of the map takes like a minute.

Waypoint to other side of the map with mounts 10 secs, crap still to SLOW!

because everyone has bank tabs full of ascended trinkets and want ways to get rid of them, not ways to get more of them. They are way too generous with how many ascended trinkets they throw at you. Jeweler 500 would need to add things that aren’t already for sale from laurel vendors. Maybe ascended sockets and interesting infusions?

Like others have said not everyone does everything that needs to be done to get those ascended items.

Normally I barley finish my daily just to get 1 laurel and every other blue moon I finish my monthly.

For me I only have 2 ascended items (not counting crafting items) a rifle for my Warrior and a longbow for my Ranger and that took me a while to make both since I don’t have the privilege of a lot of free time to grind the game, (work 5-6 days a week 8 hour shift (growing up sucks)).

So Anet not bumping Jeweler up to 500 just because “a lot of players” (more like a few) are over loaded with ascended items bought with laurels isn’t a good reason not to do it.

When Jeweler does get bump up to 500 in the future if you are one of those players over loaded with ascended items in your bank doesn’t mean you have to craft any new items that will take up what precious empty bank tabs you have left .

How many times now has Anet said they have no plans to bring GW2 to consoles?

The game would have to be rebuilt from scratch to make it work on consoles not to mention the restrictions that consoles have on them, hardware and how updates work.

On PC they can design and make GW2 as they want. On consoles they have to make it within tech specs and and how Microsoft or Sony say they have to.

The only one thing where I can agree with OP is that in gw2 we dont have any challenging, cool, repetitive content . But what we get ?! LS which can be finished in less then 1h, finish it and never come back to this instance . Just nothing to do beyond pvp .

Your idea of challenging, cool, repetitive content is different than other players. Personally I enjoy the game.

As for the living story yeah it’s short and each episode can be finished in no time but I’m thankful for it, more so since it’s free.

Think of it this way Anet is in a way doing the same thing as WoW does. WoW releases a game and/or expansion, goes a 2 years or so to make another expansion but within that time frame they release new dungeons and raids which like the LS can be beat in no time. Anet comes out with the game and fills in the time frame with LS until something big comes out, which in my opinion is better than new dungeons.

Why Can't Farmers understand

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

So farmers should only be allowed to farm certain maps and not be allowed to farm other maps if players want to do the events?

“basically act like you are entitled to run the show on all maps, at all times, regardless of anything else.”

So players that do the events and not farm per say should be the ones that run the show because that’s what this thread is coming off as.

You are acting like players that farm are playing the game wrong and are just getting in the way of the way you want to play the game and how you think it should be played. If players want to stay in one area to farm let them, they are easy to ignore.

TL:DR All players are welcome to play the way they want to.

DryTop & Silver will suffer same as Orr

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

joshc.3129

Orr always has a good population when I log on and go there, so in my view it’s not dead.
Dry Top always seems to have a good population on the map and since The Silverwaste chest timer nerf people actually try to hold the forts and still has a active population no matter when I log in.

Just because the timer got slowed down for the chests in The Silverwaste and they quit spawning in mass in one general area doesn’t = map official dead. Chests still are easy to find. I found 5 buried chests without any work post nerf.

Really these types of threads are beyond getting old. Just because you can’t make 5+ gold an hour with little to no effect on a map doesn’t mean it’s dead or about to become abandoned. It’s like players saying since Anet won’t or haven’t added what they want to see in the game doesn’t mean the game is officially dead.

It was a bug that caused them to spawn so fast and all in one area in particular, anyone could have seen that. Feel lucky all they did was nerf the spawn times.

This is what I hate about MMO’s, it’s always divided into 2 groups.

Group 1: It’s all about farming. People that want to play the game for the content are just getting into the way.
Group 2: The game was made to play for its content. People that just want to farm are just getting into the way.

Why can’t we just get along? That’s what I loved about GW1 and GW2 that I hated about WoW. WoW is just about farming for high lvl junk. In GW1 and GW2 I can farm for high lvl junk or just play the game. I just farmed the crap out of GW2 to get an ascended bow, why? I got bored with my personal storyline and got tired of map completion so I took a break and made the bow. Now I’m good to get back to the game content.

Only problem I have with this map is the spawn times are insanity short.

I get it the area is under attack. Mordremoth is flexing his muscles but when it comes to “look we took back Blue Oasis” 10 secs later it’s under attack by another large wave of Mordrem. Drive them back 10-15 secs later it’s under attack again. Drive them back, minimize game for a sec come back fort is over ran. Drive them back yet again 10-15 secs later they are back again there is a problem.

I also get why players don’t won’t to see the map and spawn times change since it’s an easy way to make money.

I have this paranoid feeling Anet is going to come along and say “players should have known the event spawn times were to short. Anyone that took advantage of this was abusing a exploit and will be permanently banned.”

All events can basically be done alone on that map with the exception of SB.

Some reasons why the map may have been empty:
You could have been on a overflow map meaning main population was on another map
No one was talking
Player population changes non-stop on different maps
New map + easy farming = everyone seems to be there.

If it does become available expect it to be a separate skin in the gem store.

Anet doesn’t like being unfair to the players, so they may see it as unfair to players that bought the first skin to be the only one to get the new skin, while the other players have to wait for the first skin to become available again in the gem store.

The only way to get around this is to make the original skin be permanently available in the gem store or make the new skin available via Black Lion Claim Tickets.

Anet has stated in the past they are working on something bigger for GW2 besides LS. Players act like Anet has their entire team working solely on LS when that isn’t true.

Think about it this way, would you rather have Anet make the LS and give us something new as we wait for something big or would you rather have Anet release the game and go about 2 years or longer to release a full expansion without anything new being added to the game in that time frame except new Gem Store items?

The LS is given to us free of charge yet some players cry and complain about it like a crying child screaming when their mom (Anet) buys them the wrong candy (Anet making the LS) because it wasn’t what they wanted (full expansion).

They won’t be happy until their mom (Anet) goes back into the store to buy the right candy (Anet stopping the LS and focusing solely on a full expansion).

Player: Where?
NPC 2: East of the Maguuma Wastes.

i remember in gw1 if you transfered a Factions character to Nightfall for example and did the previous missions on that campaign it said something like:
You are about to experience things that happened before your arrival in Elona now

you could just offer it as something like that..
players get to know that these things already happened and wont be irritated then
but at least other players can experience it too then
(ofc the big world events like LA under attack cant just be redone but all the story instances at least and maybe some informative texts to what happened in between for those parts that cant be repeated)

Exactly

For someone that just started playing, Marjory, Kasmeer, Brahman, Rox and Taimi acting like they have known the players character for a long time and always going back to how they defeated Scarlett together might be more confusing than playing a mission where Lions Arch looks different than it does when they visit it in-game.

Take the very beginning of Season 2. If someone didn’t know who Scarlett was, what she was doing and what she did they are already lost.

Player: Who’s Scarlett?
Anet: Just read Season 1 recap to get caught up.
Player: It would be more fun to play the missions I missed in Season 1 to get caught up.
Anet: No, it wouldn’t relate to what’s happening in Season 2.
Player: But knowing who Scarlett was and seeing what she did rather than read about it does relate to what’s going on since it connects to the very beginning of Season 2 and again it would be more fun.
Anet: No it wouldn’t relate. Also reading is more fun.

Is it even possible, given the changes that came about in the world?

Thinking on that how is Season’s 2 content going to relate to future game updates? After we kill Mordremoth is Dry Top and The Silverwastes going to be lock off to us since it might not relate to Seasons 3 content?

What I mean is are the Zephyrites going to be crying over their wreckage until the end of time? Is the town of Prosperity going to be attack non-stop by Mordrem? Is the Pact going to be always preparing for battle in The Silverwastes? Is Fort Salma and Concordia going to be destroyed forever and is Lion’s Arch never going to be fully rebuilt?

Saying Season 1 content can’t be reintroduced into the game since “it won’t make sense given the changes that has happened in-game” I’m surprised Orr wasn’t lock out to players that finished their personal storyline since Zhaitan was killed and his corruption was driven back because it might be confusing to players to go back their and all the NPC’s are acting like Zhaitan is still alive.

For the dumbing down you have the September Feature Pack to thank for that and the introduction of the New Player Experience. In short it means it makes the game easier to get into for new players, even if I never heard or saw 1 player complaining the game was to confusing and for the vet players it means being treated as if you are an idiot.

Make a new character, you’ll love what they did, like making unlocking weapon skills based on your lvl instead of the old “kill stuff to unlock weapon skills” way and having a lot of other stuff being put behind a level gate.

As for the player base their will always be trolls trying to annoy people and trying to come off as smart but their is still a large amount of players that are willing to help each other.

I would guess you don’t have any Traits and/or are wearing Shaman’s equipment, possibly on a Guardian.

I was playing a Ranger and for a game that says it’s “play the way you want” (even if it’s a lie, it doesn’t matter) an event of mission shouldn’t be made to where you have to have the right traits and wearing the right armor to win.

Why not exactly?

Like I said GW2 is “play the way you want” not “play the way we make you because this event or mission is made with only one play style approach so you HAVE to have the right traits and armor set to even have a chance to win.”

That’s not what play the way you want means, nor was it ever meant to mean that or implied that it means that. Play the way you want means that properly traited and geared players can use a number of different play styles to achieve their goals.

Play the way you want does not mean that I should be able to beat content with no skill while running around in blues of random stats.

I have full exotic armor and exotic weapons and working towards a ascended long bow.

“properly traited and geared players can use a number of different play styles to achieve their goals. "

So what you are saying is I can “play my way” as long as I follow the rules and wear the right armor and have the right traits going? If I use a different armor set and different traits for the play style I personally enjoy I’m doing it wrong and i’m not allowed to “play my way” because I’m not following the rules?

I’m working towards making Zojja’s Greatbow, am I following the rules by making it or am I still not allowed to “play my way” with it because it’s the wrong stats?

I agree everything should stack unless they have been soulbound or account bound.

Also they should raise the number of items in a stack to something else. 250 is to little. in my mind. I have so many stacks of candy corn taking up space in my bank it’s insane. I can’t sell them on BLTP since it’s been flooded with them selling at 19 copper (or whatever the minimum price is). Give them to the NPC kids so I can in return get more candy corn?!

Why hoarde the Candy corn for selling.. just exchange them for Candy Corn Cobs and sell those instead.

As for the general issue of space and stack sizes.. I couldn’t agree more though. I mean we are able to upgrade our material resource stack to like 1500 now so why doesn’t that also affect stack sizes in our main bank tabs.. or at least provide a separate upgrade options.
With all the new currencies, scrolls, potions etc that have entered into the game now, maybe its time for more bank tab expansions again.

But yeah, sort those items out already in game that for some silly reason don’t stack with themselves even though they are the same things.s stacks why not our bank

Just to note I never said I was hoarding candy corn to sell. I just have a large amount of it.

Coiled Watch event- impossible to do alone or with a small group. Guard the Dolyaks- impossible to do alone or with a small group. The Barrowstead event- impossible to do alone and still hard to do even with a large amount of players.

Unless the scaling on the event was changed, I’ve done that event solo quite a few times. It’s not even a group event. Ever since the living story however, it’s just zerged. Even now, I went out there to see and there were ~40 people finishing up the last event in the chain.

They had to have been scaled up or bug, at least the Coiled Watch event. I was trying to do it and 2 other players were there and each wave had about 10 Icebrood pop up at once mixed with normal, vets, elites and a champ or 2 near the end.

Might have been because I started the quest/event talking to that one NPC during the LS quest telling me to go there and talk to that guy.

But my point is the events that HAVE to be won to move forward with the LS shouldn’t be there. At least I don’t think they should.

The biggest flaw in LS Season 2 in my mind started with The Dragon’s Reach: Part 1. To make the story seem longer Anet decided instead of just making it go from one mission to another they added run around and complete events to move forward with the story quests.

In my mind the biggest flaw was the events you had to complete the involved large group events that no one may even show up to do.

Coiled Watch event- impossible to do alone or with a small group. Guard the Dolyaks- impossible to do alone or with a small group. The Barrowstead event- impossible to do alone and still hard to do even with a large amount of players.

I had to hold off doing the Coiled Watch event for half the day since no one wanted to do it. Made it to The Barrowstead with 1 Dolyak barley alive and had only 1 min to spare to beat the The Barrowstead event until luckily a large amount of players showed up only because the Claw of Jormag event was about to start and that took a lot of begging to get them to come in chat.

I REALLY hope the new episodes don’t have anything like this that prevents you from moving forward with the story until large group events are won. At the least make them like the quests in the Iron Marshes that you can do alone or you can at the least move forward with the story if the event fails.

On another note was their any reason for the Party Politics mission? Oh look someone is bad mouthing the Queen yet again and I have to figure out who. Am I playing my personal storyline missions again or am I dealing with the Elder Dragon Mordremoth?

As for “They have severely watered the game down for filthy casuals.” that’s extremely narrow minded of you to think Anet should make GW2 and anything new solely around the “hardcore” players and trying to make casual players feel unwelcome in the game by giving them the message “GW2 is for hardcore players only! Living Story helps add new quests faster than a boxed expansions Players will deny it’s not new content but in the end it’s new. Also it give them a new reason to keep adding stuff to the gem store. If you don’t anything there that’s not the point, a large amount of players do which equals money coming in for Anet.

Problem with boxed expansions, year or longer to have to wait for their releases which means the same players crying about the lack of new content will still crying about the lack of new content between releases, also it’s a one time purchase meaning a one time profit for Anet.

It is all about what you make out of the game I suppose.

Why does this “mass exodus” keep coming up? I have yet to see any noticeable lvl of players online drop

The “I’m quitting” or “I’m about to quit if” topics keep popping up going along the lines of “if Anet doesn’t quit what they are doing and add something new and big like an expansion pack soon or I’m quitting” yet those players still login.

I’m happy they are putting more effort into the LS Season 2 content but seeing them put Halloween and Wintersday off to the side it’s a bit of a let down.

Dominion of winds explorable area?

Yes good chance it will be added to the game. Why would Anet never bring the game to it?

The only thing is Anet would have to find a reason to go there and since LS Season 2 is focused towards the Maguuma Wastes and what looks like the Maguuma Jungle with the story involving Mordremoth it’s not going to happen soon.

Personally I think if we go there the story would be centered around the Destroyers which may possibly be a story involving Primordus.

im gonna return on wow for sometime and my wallet will go there not in this gem store kitten ill return whit expansion

Have fun spending money on a game that just releases the same thing again and again and calling it new without adding anything NEW to the game. “Oh look another raid just like last time” “NO it’s not the same it’s NEW!”

Seriously how long has WoW been out and they are just now updating their graphics? GW1 look better than WoW ever did.

Fanboys are now losing their mind thinking them finally updating their graphics is a new innovation to online games and is going to bring WoW back into the glory it was at it’s peak but can’t see or deny it’s the same old stuff now a little more pretty.

Let’s not forget it took WoW almost 3 years before they came out with the first expansion and people are crying it’s been 2 years without anything major released for GW2.

On another note personally I think people who don’t buy gems (helping support the game) don’t really have the ground to complain of the lack of content. People who by the gems to buy the “useless items” from the gem store are the people making Anet a profit so they can continue with the LS, make more “useless” gem store items and do other stuff for the game.

When a expansion or something else major gets released it’s because of the people who buy gems not the players who don’t and just complain about the gem store.

do u know 11/13 come out new wow expansion? do u know many ppl go there ? so when u come out with news?
we need to do something new ….

You act like when the WoW expansion comes out every player or a large amount of them are going to jump ship and run off to WoW and stay there forever as if people only play 1 online game at a time.

I played the WoW demo once, 1 hour into it I thought “man this sucks” and never touch it again. Personally some of those “no need to buy and play for free online games” are more fun than WoW.

Like others have said some players will leave and play the WoW expansion and when they beat it they will come back.

So Anet isn’t concerned about the WoW expansion hurting GW2 nor are you in the position to come off as if you are demanding Anet to hurry up and announce something as if they are saying “See see we have an expansion in the works and we’ll hurry up and finish it for you before the WoW expansion comes out, so please don’t leave!”

*On a side note, I do love when people post topics like this as if they know for a fact that if Anet doesn’t announce something soon something like 98% of the player base will run off to WoW, or make other claims like “GW2 is doing good” or “Gw2 is doing just as bad as this game” but never post anything else to their own topic trying to explain or back up their claims.

then they better stop the gw1 project and focus on gw2.

They have stop developing for GW1 and focus all their attention on GW2.
Anet now has GW1 on auto run and the game basically takes care of itself. They do however have a very small live team left on GW1 to help the remaining players with any questions.

As for new content I see why people are mad that after 2 years their hasn’t been any new big content releases but we really need to stop with the “I want it now!” attitude like in someway Anet owes us something for buying the game and buying gems.

As for the LS, I rather have longer spaced out releases that have more bulk to them rather than slap together every 2 week releases.

I know a lot of people say LS Season 2 sucks and is boring but at least it follows one storyline unlike LS Season 1 that jumps all over the place only to be tied together at the end.

When it comes to expansions, GW1 was easier to make for. You had one race, humans, all professions had their own armor that was made for one race. Skills were easier to make since they weren’t tied to a certain weapon and do to the double professions you could use every skill on just one character granted what professions you were running. New professions was easier to make because again it was only one race to design armor for and their new skills was easier to make. The new stories was easier to make because once again it only involved 1 race.

Now look at GW2. 5 different races meaning armor has to be made to fit and look right on all the races. Skills are now tied to the weapon you use. So if they made new skills they have to find a way to be able to swap the skills on existing weapons like not being able to swap skill sets if you are out in the world and can only do it in a town. New weapons and their skills would have to fit the weapon and fit the professions they can be used by. New professions are harder to make in GW2 since they would have to have weapon skills made to fit them on all the current weapon choices and any new weapons that may be made. New races are more difficult to make in GW2 since they would have to have their own traits and their own utility skills. As for the story it’s made difficult do to the “pick your own adventure” set up. They would have to have their own story line to tie them into the original story or have their own unique storyline that doesn’t involve the original story.

Anet needs to stop trying to be different and just make GW2 into a 100% identical WoW clone, that should make everyone happy. (sarcasm)

I agree that spears and tridents need to become land weapons since Anet has already said they aren’t going back to underwater combat in the future anytime soon.

Forgotten about the Dominion of Winds?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Many times on the forum I’ve read the posts of players wanting to go to Cantha, Elona or where ever. They want a new area to explore, they want a new race and/or class and so on.

I think making a story based in the Dominion of Winds would be a great way to possibly fulfill those wants.

The Dominion of Winds could have a look and feel of Cantha, since the Tengu traveled there after being forced out of Cantha. So it would be like a small piece of Cantha behind those walls. Plus it’s a new place to explore. (This would however only work out if Anet finds a way to please both the South Korean and Chinese players or else Anet could turn the Dominion of Winds into a giant hole in the ground like they did to the Cantha distract in Divinity’s Reach).

It would introduce the Tengu who at this point has very little if really no impact, influence or presence in the game.

The Tengu could become a new playable race and possibly introduce a new class.

Levelling up too fast (feedback)

I’m sorry that you enjoy leveling but unfortunately (for you) most of us don’t. I like your solution except I have 4 scrolls of level 20 sitting in my bank that explain why they won’t make this change.
As for the down scaling… I’d rather they do it all the way (actually on par with players in the area) or not at all (too late now but still)

I would venture to guess that most of us do enjoy leveling.

I think when it comes to the new NPE leveling most players fall into the category of I don’t care, we don’t love it when it comes to the hand holding but we don’t hate it because the game is still playable but certain things still need to be work on.

The main problem with the NPE is it makes bringing up a new character tedious since a lot of stuff is now level lock and leveling has been slowed down.

New computer- save files?

Your characters are saved on Anet’s servers. That’s why we can play from anywhere.

However, you will save yourself a lot of downloading time, if you copy your existing files to the new computer.

Coping the files just adds the basic game files to the new computer. You still need to install it and download everything else like updates and what not.
