Everyone is crying for a pause mode. Obviously i have no clue about online sports but real sports doesnt have the “ok lets stop everything for the hurt player”.
Many sports do, although there are about a bazillion other factors that matter when playing a game over the internet that can’t really be controlled that easily….. It’s simply a necessity to have a pause option in any game that wants to be taken serious as a competetive game.
@Topic: I really don’t watch the interviews…. I’d watch them if they’d talk about why they’ve made certain build decisions and precise strategic movements etc, but not that weird and boring fluff stuff or Helseth just being a troll. Maybe some of the interviews do offer more insight, but I don’t wanna listen to all the other stuff to maybe get some information Im actually interrsted in.
I really just dont understand the pause button factor. Its suppose to be as real and as competitive as supposedly a real sport. And no most of these sports dont just stop for the injured player. They are trying to get the player out of sight and out of mind and finish the game as quickly as possible.
The 3 worst injurys ive seen on t.v was kevin ware, andrew bogut and shaun livingston. They were not trying to pause the game. They had to stop because or a terrible injury which in all 3 cases could of been life defining.
Question, if Vermillion had a sub would they still be crying this hard? If dude paid for a legit firewall do we still have this problem?
Beyond that the guy tried to cheat on top of it? How can you claim this that and this when your just as maniacal to the person who cheated you? You literally have players from car crash (who treid to cheat) and players from vermillion getting paid to play this game and are doing everything possible to say the Esports scene is crap because something didnt go there way. Literally have single Pro player at anything has a book of the obstacles they had to overcome and we are sitting here talking about a necessary pause button on a game most people question is worthy of Esports.
I had a few issues with the interview.
First and foremost he’s acting like a child. A DDOS happened and it is what it is. You can’t cheat to right that and then get all upset when caught. Life happens and there are times you just have to man up and take it.
The lack of respect for Anet who put this together. Look I’m the farthest thing from an Anet fan boy but if I’m making money playing this game ima treat that league with respect.
I agree completely,
Everyone is crying for a pause mode. Obviously i have no clue about online sports but real sports doesnt have the “ok lets stop everything for the hurt player”.
I seriously wonder why they dont just buy a firewall for $20 a year, thats what some of them are for.
A DDOS attack cripples one player of a team. Are you trying to claim that if one player on the field gets a charlie horse and collapses, the refs wouldn’t temporarily stop the clock?
Ravenmoon used a foot ball example so i will go basketball since this was my sport k-12 and college.
Kobe bryant tore his achillies tendon and they didnt stop the game. He got fouled and they told him to get up and leave the court or to shoot his free throws or his team will be charged a timeout.
Steve nash just 4-5 years ago had his nose broken during a game and it wouldnt stop bleeding. He was not allowed to play in the game and they were charged with a timeout for him and the suns trying to get him back on the court.
Now these are actual sports and actual injurys whether is basketball or football. The DDOS attack from what i was told can be fought by 3rd party software ESL suggests some and a guild mate told me buying a legit firewall takes care of it.
Just like a REAL PROFESSIONAL who gets paid to do something. You take precautions and i think when you are potentially earning a couple thousands dollars you can afford to get a $20-50 firewall.

Sam here. Hello everyone.
To clarify the situation I will just poke in my 2 cents. Trashtalk me as you want, I really don’t care. I just post this for everyone who wants to know exactly what happened.
I am not someone who plays unfair. I don’t wanted to get an advantage out of this. We got our 4th-5th place set if we would have played normally, and even if we would have had beaten TCG, we would have just get 3rd place, so not really much more money or anything.
So, why did I do this then? Vermillion got DDOS’ed (from guys, who are in proleague, because they know the rules exactly), everyone, even the guys that don’t play PvP and stuff know EXACTLY what happened in the game TCG vs. VM. Since ESL and Arenanet both didn’t give Vermillion a fair chance to rematch, I decided to give them atleast a chance, to beat 55hp and beat TCG and get their Spot which they deserved into the finals. Since they beaten TCG with 200 Points lead, I thought for myself, that this is unfair as hell, but no one helped them.
I stated it a lot and everyone knows that I was in my finals exam for my apprenticeship. That’s why I didn’t got much time to spend on Training for GW2. (You can see that in the first weeks, were we played with Kanscout over me, even though Mesmer was better obviously.) But even if I would have had time, I would not be as good of a mesmer as Frostball.
I loved this game, but I never loved the Proleague, because it’s just unfair over and over and over again. Car Crashed got trashtalked by every Proleague Team, no one did something against it. I said something about Helseth, and gets instantly messages from ESL guys.
TCG matchfixed their match against Orng, which would get you banned immediatiely in other games and Rom even admited it, ON STREAM. Nothing happened.
TCG played with Rom and Denshee against Orange Logo, which is not allowed, it’s stated in the official rules in ESL. But ESL is changing this rules mid season, for TCG.
Someone ddos’ed Vermillion, no rematch, no afk, no 4 v 4, no changing rules, NOTHING HAPPENED.Do you call this fair? If so, don’t read more of this text.
Frostball got DDOS protection and everything, and they still insisted on their rule, that everyone needs to work their own protection. So they literally stated, that unfair behaviour is getting rewarded, and that DDOS is allowed or what?
And this was kittening me off so hard, that I decided to do that. I know it was wrong, and if the DDOS didn’t happen, I would have not gone for this stupid behaviour. I did this by myself, together with Frostball. My team did not know what Frostball and me planned, but they got banned out of it. But yeah, what ever, Fair play is the best play, right?
I love this game, it’s the one I played from beta, and enjoyed 3 and a half year now. Even though the balance was a problem from the start, even though I get trashtalked a lot (when I joined Car Crash, and I did NOTHING, everyone hated Posi and Zapdos, and so hated me, because of my Guild Tag, getting guys who tell me to DDOS me and stuff.)
But yeah. The game is now dead to me. Not because of Guild Wars 2. It’s still a great game, but because of Proleague.
I am sad that everything worked out like this, because the whole Proleague is not watchable. Of course I did something wrong, I am not proud of it or anything and I would not say ever, do the same. I will take the consequences as an adult as usal. If the DDOS would have not happened, I would have not done this 100%. But if I could continuum split back, I would probably do the same again, because i think it was the right thing to do for Vermillion.
And yeah, someone talked on Whisper Chat. It was not me, but I don’t want to blame anything, on anyone. So I don’t need to say the name.
Peace out, hopefully I see you in a year or in other games and I wish good luck for Arenanet. That they will do more good stuff for this game. But they should let go of the Esport. It’s just not ment to be.
P.S.: Sry for my bad english.
Best regards,
Sam
Im completely fine with you posting this and i appreciate you giving insight on your feelings towards it.
Though it goes back to everything ive ever said about Pro Leagues and the people in it.
You guys are kids, you are talking about fair and the rules. Anyone whos played a real sport competitively knows the ref doesnt always make the right calls and most of the time the sponsor tries to do it better the next time instead of back tracking.
You brought up money, so lets just put this back into perspective. You guys get paid to play a game. You dont give your bodys to the game. You give time/mind and you can easily move on. Also you guys get to pick how much time you put into it.
I watched some of the Pro League today and you heard the Vermillion player crying and you had other Pro League player commenting what did you expect?
How about for people getting payed to play the game to not be babies. Anet didnt help with there poor job of establishing rules/roster/ trades etc etc.
So i guess overall i agree, Anet really needs to think about this Esport thing because its a bit hard to look at.
Wanna emphasize that a lot of the gw2 pvp population are kids.. too much drama.
What does Drama have to do with kids? I love drama, it spices things up.
The ability to act like an adult if necessary isn´t limited to adults. Adults themselves are incapable to behave reasonable in a lot of cases, too.
At the same time I think being childish once in a while or deep inside you lets you actually enjoy games like that. Being childish all the time and in wrong moments is something different. To the topic. I don´t enjoy watching proleague since the ddos on frostball. All the kitten that happened afterwards moved it further away from being interesting.
Vermillion is far better currently then TCG imo (don´t kow how the scrims went, so many secrets :P – Helseth claimed that they won most scrims last season, but weren´t able to show that when it mattered), so TCG being on second place now isn´t anywhere ok for (and don´t understand me wrong, I have nothing explicitly against TCG or ANY other proleague team. All my interest goes into having a entertaining proleague I actually enjoy watching (and there were some great matches at the beginning of this season). vM vs TCG debacle, oRNG – TCG debacle, CC – Frostball debacle. What we end with is exactly one team I like to watch right now and that is 55.
The adult thing is very true, but from a competitive adult aspect. There is very serious actions taken on you even at the HS level in a sport. Go to a party with drugs or alcohol. You get kicked from the team, potential scholarships lost. A billion things in college. All im trying to say is the last 2 Pro seasons have been filled with questionable child behavior such as im taking my ball and going home.
Drama is good from a competitive aspect. For instance OE facing Astral/ABjured last week and you saw the broad casters making notice of OE winning a 2 vs 2 with nos in it.
ORNG vs TCG was one to look for. Thats Competitve drama. The things about strawberry beer and not caring about pro leagues because Anet screwed us cry was a bit much to take.
Lastly it doesnt matter about scrims, it doesnt matter about other things. All that matters is who shows up on game day. The best teams dont always make it to the destination they are suppose to.
^^^^ completely understandable, was just throwing my 2 cents into the wishing well.
Class stacking is not the reason people are not getting the ranks/titles they want in ranked que.
While I mostly agree with this statement. Its infrequent when this sort of thing happens at least in my experience but it is still problematic. Match making should cap at 2 of any class unless they queued as a group getting 3-4 of anything(some clearly more hindering than others) isn’t going to make for a good match on either side.
Guilds/premades should not be allowed to queue if they have 3 of the same class, and there should be a system to then prevent them swappin when the game starts.
I disagree that class stacking doesn’t cause a problem. Come up against 4 DHs and you have an instant issue of continual pull, push, immobilized, contained, burned, killed. The same (but with differing consequences) happens with other class stacks. Then when you are teamed fairly equally, even though that is fairer, you are reliant on your team understanding rotation and visualizing the map/envisaging what the other team will/won’t do. For example, I had a match last season with 3 eles both sides, we couldn’t kill each other, yet the rest of our team wouldn’t for the life of them rotate and back-cap or cap and stay capped. At the start of the match I said, grab, cap and hold but no one did. Had we got to capture points first, we’d have been in the same boat of not being able to kill each other but with the advantage of having capped points. It obviously wasn’t as simple as this, but this was an issue and is purely ONE example.
And have any of you tried to go up against 5 mesmers? -.- That was before any league btw…
Plus I don’t care if this causes longer queues.
OK so i have a guild team. 2 of them dont play much so one is around level 50 and the other got to level 20 in season 1 and is around level 25 now. I and the other 2 are pretty good players.
We were top 25 this past season and got 27 last season. Yes we have played the 3-4 DH teams, 3-4 necros, the 3-4 bunker mesmers.
These are what bad teams/players do to win games. They try to stack the OP class thats easy to play.
In season 1 we crushed teams until the fixed the rating system. I was in Leg 2 and they 2 were in ruby/diamond and my 2 lowest guild members were in emerald/sapphire. So we would play a full team of rubys/diamond doing the stacking and crush them. Since they are stacking the class a good player doesnt worry about.
When they fixed the MM system so we faced all Leg teams. I would only get nervous in season 1 when i saw a 2 rev/ 2 mesmer/ ele team. If they didnt have this comp they were missing something. Season 2 i was nervous to see a 2 mesmer/2 rev team again with either a engy or ele but we didnt play much in season 2.
So any Guild team VS Guild team battle i am not worried about the stacking.
^^^ i had to make the comment because i saw that PvtFrosty made a thread about the state of EU Pro League.
Bluri told sam here above to stop.
So obviously you have a whole bunch of people who all know each other and cry. Its simply bickering and complaining when not getting there way. even if the viewer ship is small they could of at least acted decent.
The fact that they didnt kind of proves what you say.

How about for people getting payed to play the game to not be babies. Anet didnt help with there poor job of establishing rules/roster/ trades etc etc.
So i guess overall i agree, Anet really needs to think about this Esport thing because its a bit hard to look at.
I disagree, there is a reason for pro leagues.
Im sorry but if we learned anything about PvP in season 2 its that the majority of PvP players in GW2 are bad.
Alot of people got to legendary in 1 week and many people streamed themselves getting to legendary in a 2nd account that was a core/vanillia build and got to legendary again.
Class stacking is not the reason people are not getting the ranks/titles they want in ranked que.
Im sorry but i have to disagree, this game is unbalance for 2 reasons in PvP
1-HOT
2- Lack of actual rating system.
Lets start with 2 first. Anet for what ever reason anet doesnt want to share MMR, create a leaderboard, and doesnt want a solo que. There is also a serious issue of rewards for PvP. Unique titles and such. For instance i was in a random party of newer players and one said that he was almsot level 80 and would probably quit playing PvP since hes maxed level.
Yet i feel crazy since i was gifted a level 80 from my level 55 character way back when patch. Anet made this game for the casual yet PvP players do not want it to be. So you have a community who wants serious rewards, leader boards, rankings etc etc etc. A real clear line of skilled players vs the good/average/bad and anet wants everyone to have some cake.
Now back to the first part HOT, Anet knows what they are doing. Its easy to balance classes when you know the problems. Guess what we know the problems. Anet wants certain builds to be effective for play style and they also want certain HOT spec to be good for people to buy HOT.
The warrior change for instance. The gun flame build wasnt very good but they knew it had issues in WvW so they killed it for PvP. People ask for seperate builds in the different zones. Anet refuses so instead of meeting in the middle, they kill it.
For warrior they made 2 trait lines a must, beserker and defense. They could buff core specs but they wont. They could buff weapons such as Axe/ warhorn/ hammer but they wont.
Its not even big things either, chaith made a thread and to me most of it works. Everyone has said things on each forum. Legit actual posts on builds/cd on weapons and skills/ and spec changes.
Many people have posted the give and take and role definition. For instance guardian was the best bunker class but lacked mobility. Want more mobility you would have to take dps weapons and then you lacked condi clear. Want condi clear but still want to do damage you went burn guardian which was a 1 condi damage.
Everything about the class was near perfect. Yes there were moments of burn damage being too high and the amount of burns they were able to apply might needed some looked at. But these are easy fixes just like HOT.
They know whats wrong, everyone needs to quit acting like Anet wants this game to be balanced and made for Esports.
Typical kdaddy complaint thread
lol thank you
Fine lets do this
Rangers ability is 4 sec and then they depend on cele avatar for heals and condi cleanse. They have no sec ability to break stuns or get secondary heals. They need to range or use glyphs to get knockbacks and stuns. They use passive damage from pets to win 1 vs 1 fights.
Guardians have many outs but are not in meta atm because they cant remove all the condi flying around. Otherwise a bunker guardian is great with overall sustain and before HOT was the best bunker character in the game. At times in EU tournies you would literally see teams strategy’s as avoid any fight with tage. Which is why EU has always had mesmer play where NA was more ele and thieves before HOT.
In your argument you are saying its nothing special but to engage in a 1 vs 1 vs a warrior is very different then any other class. You are watching for these specific skills.
You might even give up a point against a warrior who pops both (which is a noob move in a 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2) and then immediately go after him for doing such.
Moving the passive endure pain to 50% health did somethings for higher level play and no longer became a crutch for poor players to get sustain when low on health.
Also witht he insane amount of sustain in the game Warriors need to effectively use these skills. Not go god mode for 9 sec and win a fight which will never ever happen in this game unless you are straight garbage. I have never had a serious 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 last less 35 sec so your complaint about god mode and noob play is a joke.
Warrior before HOT was the Apex of PvP for years, simply calling us gimmicky because HOT is broken doesnt mean the skills are broken.
Lastly these skills for warrior decide team fights. When in a TOL/AG/ESL tournament and you see these pop up you change target. Since the warrior used these stances he will die to the AOE and passive damage being done to his team mates around him. Where as you constantly focus down the other characters and in the case of the Ele now. You always target them last like the old bunker guard.
Thats called different styles of play. This small “gimmick” you commented on decides how teams play team fights/ who rotates where/ and who is targeted.
No one needs every class to play exactly the same way, you calling it the same thing because another class has the same skill shows you dont appreciate the small differences in the game play.
Its set up this way because warrior is a burst class.
Warrior for PvP is in it to win it or die on point. Thats this play style for the class. You are trying to make it like every other class. So no i disagree.
Ranger has signet of stone (takes no physical damage for 4 sec) boom same thing and it gets cele form for aoe heals.
Guardian has aegis, 3 blocks from a focus, shelter, renewed focus and with virtues can do some really neat things as well as reflect skills.
I could go on and on about the style of play which each class brings and go into detail about it but im not.
So again i disagree because each class should feel different from the other. Guardians and Eles are the sustain button smashing classes and lets keep it that way. If more classes become the exact same we should just rename every class besides mesmer and thief to bore guy because bore guy is exactly like everyone else.
Condition comes in when condi removal goes out. When condi removal comes back in, condition builds go out. It is a vicious cycle called meta trends.
But what is the meta?
No Condition builds.
They are hybrids.
You still get direct damage.
They are hybrid thats a fair point but we are using condi to kill people. You know this build and its built on passive life stealing/ passive damage/ and condi pressure.
We do decent actual dps but we were trying to constantly bleed/chill/ and poison. This is the exact same necro build my guild used in season 1 and 2 to get a 24th and 27th ranked guild team.
And 2 people on that guild team have not even hit level 50 in pvp and are beating legendary ranked players.
Now these players are not bad but it hits 2 points.
1- Its more build and team comp
2- Knowing how to play the match ups and rotations
In this match we have players who could not deal with our 3 man condi pressure and minions.
What im trying to say is there is no power build other then rev that out plays a condi build. You call them a hybrid which is fine but 75% of these builds damage are coming from condi.
Warriors are doing burn, confusion, bleed and weakness damage. The 1050 power damage is just a bonus.
To me this is why HOT is failing from a PvP perspective. Every class can easily apply heavy amounts of condi damage and constantly reapply it. Yet only rev can put out the dps to beat all the sustain hybrid builds in the game.
May be for conquest maps (which are boring anyway) but the likes of wvw roaming and even champions dusk, power builds are still very strong
WvW is very different since you can have different builds. I see alot of old school bunker guardians with shouts and reflects. Heck i have even seen ventari revs who are incredibly useful. The builds for this are different since you are fighting in groups of 20-30-40-50.
Thats very different. Also please dont say its the same as stronghold ummmm no its not. This is me and 2 guild mates with 2 necro MM condi builds and a condi engy from last season. Condi has been the meta since HOT came out for PvP. Not just for 1-2-3 classes but every class.
why did you show me 2 screen shots of a score bored? and i know stronk hold is different, thats why power builds work there. much more freedom and nothing to fight over (only supply and lord rooms) compared to 5 nodes.
Those screen prints if you actually took the time to look.
- Is a stronghold match
- Us winning 3 vs 5 in a ranked match
*All 3 of us using hybrid condi builds
Sure you can say power builds work but guess what condi still rules the land and im showing it threw the screen prints which you couldnt put together.

(edited by kdaddy.5431)
Im sorry anet but i cant wrap my head around this. I havent been playing as much i admit but when i PvP everyone is using a condi build.
Warriors with mace/shields and sword/torch, mesmers scrappers, all of them are going full condi. The only classes that are not is ele which is a support build atm and a bunker druid. Thief and DH are still falling behind.
Even the OP rev is going back to condi for alot of the average players because simply put its almost impossible to deal with all the conditions being thrown around.
You changed warriors gun flame for its dps in WvW so not its not really all that useful in PvP. You changed the staff 5 skill of rev. Now revs are struggling to kill the more bunkery/sustain players in the time needed since everyone has ridiculous sustain and bursts.
Im sorry but HOT brought nothing to this game WvW and PvP wise. Seriously this is horrible.
You brought back old borderlands because you threw out crap. Now every class in the game PvP has literally 1 decent build. Im not gonna write a thread like chaith did on how to fix a class because its your job to make the game playable.
Hot brought guild halls which kind of suck, a new WvW which you took away because it sucked and PvP has become a complete joke with no leader boards, build diveristy, and a dying Ag tournament which use to be very good and active.
I will congratulate you on PvE areas because they are alot of funs, havent been able to find a raid group at my time which i put on myself but seriously the 2 areas i play most are completely useless as a expansion.
I bring it up because i just watched the Spring Update video and im sitting here like you are talking dynamics/ build changes for better improving raid teams.
Talking about slivers just being handed out and heres the thing, people dont want it it to be easy. Raid players dont want raids to be easy, people who scribe dont want it to be easy, PvP players dont want builds to be brain dead and easy.
This has to be the most frustrating aspect listening to Hugh talk. Hes talking about balance and god mode and the beta situation. UMMMMMMMMM we had it for HOT and no one listened.
Each forum for each class outside of PvP has threads with great suggestions on how to fix classes yet Anet takes a rocket launcher to that idea.
The d/d god meta? The burn damage? Before HOT these things were insane and it took forever to fix. Now these 2 things are completely gone and are useless.
Nobody wanted burn guardians to die and no one wanted core builds to be wiped from the face of GW2. Not only that no one wanted people taking those crappy builds and walking into Legendary in Season 2.
Rant is over but just like most of the people in that spring update video were laughing at all the messed up things in the game. I am to but mostly at the idea that things were fixed.
ArenaNet is very adamant that skill splits are too much work to be possible.
Then the game will never reach its full potential when it comes to balance as far as I’m concerned. Doing it “their way” when you have a desired change, or creation of an idea, you always have a specified target of what it’s going to effect “wvw, pvp, pve”. However by the time you’re done filtering said Idea or change with thinking about how it will effect the other two game modes, the idea or change is either so radically different than your original thought that it’s either
A) not worth implementing at that point because it will not bring the change to the desired effect to impact balance in a positive way

B) The change will bring some sort of positive balance to one of the three, but harm the other two game modes to some degree.
I understand that it would take longer to implement such a change that I’m suggesting, but I’m willing to bet in the long run for sake of balance that it will be a change worth waiting for, despite how much more resources and time it would take to allocate. I’d be willing to wait it for something great than for something mediocre now.
Countless
Also i would like to point out that it be better for the players and you but not for the company.
They already have a script and a model that they like. Its takes alot of time and work to do this. Many gaming companies are talking about how they are playing the money business game with free 2 play games that are quick, easy to make, and lack the replay value.
X company makes a simply app game that took 20 man hrs and will make $200 per hour since its f2p and people will pay for quick character fixes/ new characters/ among other things.
Anet has made a huge MMO game that has no monthly fee which is why you see all the really bad gliders and outfits. They have to put in X 1,000 hrs per dollar and you are asking them to refit the whole thing when in 4-5 years the game probably will move onto GW3.
We are almost at the point where maybe the majority owner of the company sells to another company who will bury it by simply using its name to make money and put no effort into the game. Dragon Age Origins for example.
I have to say this wasnt your best work.
You usually have something to say, here you dont even make attempt to address the issues. You just keep crying over a split for each model. (PvP, WvW, PvE)
If you wanted to be funny, you could of did what you did at the start and continued to make fun of them that way. Instead you put up a diagram which wasnt funny. You need to test your jokes out first to see if there funny, dont just fly into the sky first.
If you wanted to make fun of them for thinking they actually balance PvP go ahead. In the video the guy says people need to think about the idea that there is 3 areas that need balance for 1 group of weapons.
Talk about or make jokes about
- Core builds
*The fact they can change the difficulties of PvE content and raid bosses
*If they are so worried about WvW how come they couldnt come out with a decent new map. We now have back our old BL, which asks the question for WvW players. Why buy HOT and why the 20% gun flame nerf?
You could of had alot of material to really roast them but instead this video would of been boo booed of stage.
People in this game talk about skill/ no skill builds etc all the time.
There is a few things this game does that others do not. Playing in GW2 PvP is alot like basketball. You have to know where your team mates are/ if they are in winnable matchups/ are other players rotating to the right spots/ defensive and offensive rotations and then off course there is personal skill level.
For your own personal skill level there is 1 vs 1 rooms in PvP and the guild hall arena. I have taken many people into our guild hall arena simply because there is no own else and this is basically its only use. You can spend hrs running threw different builds from different classes practicing the 1 vs and 2 vs 2 situations. Looking for the things you need to avoid.
I agree 100% with the clutter: mesmer clones, DH traps, ele over loads, necros minions and marks. Listening to players characters yell out shouts helps but i find it a bit much.
So to answer your question, do you have a good guild? My guild consists of players who mostly play with all the classes with 1-2 people who main thief/necro. This allows a basic question such as reflect on mesmer, where does it come from?
To which someone will reply, its a trait skill on manipulation skill uses. Then all you need to do is figure out which skills they are by looking underneath there name icon while in battle in PvP.
tarcis best rev in NA lmoa … RIP NA
Yes I was, any problem sir?
Idk. It just says a lot about NA if a person is considered the best NA revenant ,allthough he was/is pretty inactive and even spent barely any time on this class in comparison to other NA revenants.
Its not a hard class to pick up. Immediately everyone was either gonna use malyx, shiro, glint. Shiro and glint are almost identical.
7 skill is stun breaker/ dodge
8 skill is a speed skill swiftness/teleport
9 is the only different skill vulnerability/increased speed
10 skill is knockback/stun
so you have 2 heroes that have almost the exact same skills. Also the specs are specific to each hero almost.
You dont have to pick skills
You dont have to pick trait on the skill choices because you dont pick skills.
There are a few more things but basically it comes down to mechanical skill/ timing/ understanding the profession a you are fighting. The rev is a fun class but it takes the least amount of time to think up a build.
Before this patch chaith on a stream said he had beaten toker with 1 particular amulet every time on his engy and lost every time with the one that was quote um quote the meta build.
Ive seen necros in the legendary ques beat his rev in the past 2 seasons as well.
Ive seen many of the Astral (Abjured) players playing on many different characters. Toker is easily the best at multi classing and phanta right there with him. I would of put toker as the 2nd best rev in NA behind tarcis and the 3rd best being wang.
Lastly people throwing out stuff like shield 5 and ohhh i beat revs all the time.
Its why people hate the league system so much, there is not 1 person in here who uses warrior who can beat a good rev/necro/mesmer.
These guys have around 15-20k matches played and scrimmed for hours a day in team settings/ dueled for hours in practice builds/ won 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3 tournaments/ and are competing against the other elite players of the game in ESL weeklys/ WTS/Pro Leagues.
And you come in here talking about timing skills and using shield 5 ………………………………
Im sorry but if GW2 had a legit Pro Rating system for Leagues and your gonna compare these guys builds and abilities to your own. You wouldnt make ruby.
(edited by kdaddy.5431)
This actually just hit me from last night.
I was playing warrior and i had a shield. I starting blocking and the other teams necro threw down staff 5 mark (fear) and it took me out of block.
Next match im playing a core burn guardian with meditations. I see a ele start to go into overload air. I miss the knock back ( i dont know why) and then the lightning strikes are going threw the shield 5 of the guardian.
I still have to say GW2 PvP is the best ive tried but im really looking forward to overwatch, For Honor, Paragon and a few others because i will literally trait for shield and other peoples skills will simply be better just because.
You have to ask the question why?
I honestly think warrior and guardians just switched spots. Guardians can no longer out sustain warriors and warriors got the beserker buff spec. Yet warriors still wont be able to beat necros and revs in 1 vs 1.
You mentioned old Pre HOT builds and you talk about diversity. The builds dont have to be great but the ability to have options in different builds/ play styles/ team support means alot and gives different players different levels of effect.
And i truly believe that anet has no idea how to fix balance atm. They pigeonholed themselves.
Eles can only use shouts to be effective, best support build in game yet is the only effective build.
Necro the overall best class but also the worst when put with bad team mates or yourself not able to deliver the damage your class needs. This is a class that cant be caught off point yet cant be caught int he middle if fights.
Revs are great if you use shiro and glint but what after that? A condi rev isnt as good as a warrior, necro, or mesmer now. So a top 2 build in season 1 is no longer even viable in todays PvP.
Your complaining about guardian and i agree but something has to bee said about the fact that each class has 1 legit APEX BUILD. A build that is better then any other build period.
If i ran a ventari/dwarf rev- the very best possible build right now of it and i was the best player ever at it. You could beat me if you are a average shiro/glint dps rev.
If i was the very best at using core warrior pre hotbuild and you used the condi beserker they have now and your just so so. You would beat me easy.
This is truly where anet lost there way and im 99% sure they dont know how to even these things out.
the way you wrote that out was very funny but your video is to blurry to watch for me. Makes me sad since the writing and music seemed on point
Wasn’t Frostball the one who got DDOSed against TCG? Hmm….
We still need a ruling on the DDOs-case if I’m not mistaken. I personally suggest a rematch.
I actually have a question about?
I was told by a friend if you buy a actual firewall it wont happen and there are ESL software for this very thing. Im just curious to the effectiveness of such software.
My question for you is, do you think they should have a rematch if such software is effective?
I dont know either way how hard or often this happens but the few people ive talked too all said certain things which pointed to the player should of been more careful.
Its nice to see that some rules are being enforced but i think alot more rules are needed and others looked at.
It also brings to light another aspect, that these Pro League circles are very small which is why you see the same players all the time just on different teams.
Which is why i do hope they get a legit roster in the future if this League goes on after this season.
This is so laughable
PvP is suppose to give alot of classes the ability to play different roles. Healer, sustain, bunker, dps.
We had this before HOT and it worked great for raned/unranked ques and you saw alot of builds in the AG/ESL leagues.
Ive already seen many people come up witht eh same build as I. Either running sword/torch or sword/shield with longbow.
Defense/displine/beserker with cleansing ire. Warrior got better ok, but did PvP situation get better?
Still no class diversity, people saying ohhh i can 1 vs 1 druids/revs/necros now. Yeah thats great that you can beat a crappy player on the elite class.
Keep bumping your own post but changing a meta to simply include a class and slowly demote 2 others with out looking into the power creep/ condi creep/ forced class play of condi mesmers and eles.
Simply giving warrior better healing didnt change the overall problem with PvP.
Ye, first was happy for the change since we got competitive again. But i realised that it pushes war more to berserker, and one build. Ye adrenal suck, speci is still rotation spam, brainless and boring. Still want to see speci nerfs for all classes.
Yep,
The worst part about this thread is many people dont care just as long as the class is viable to them.
I made it to legendary in season 1 partially using a core M/S- GS build which lead to people crying how bad beserker trait line was.
I made it in season 2 to legendary using condi till ruby and gun flame to Legendary. Anet with the patch literally killed any rifle builds, nobody cares. People have made comments as its a stupid build anyways.
Now all i see in from PvP warriors is either mace-shield/ sword-torch/ longbow and if you are not using these 3 you are under performing.
Before HOT you had options, for instance you could run a physical build for 1 vs 1. Mace/shield- great sword. Healing sigent, elite signet, bulls charge, the jump physical skill and beserker stance. This was a great 1 vs 1 build, then the meta hammer/greatsword dps, then shoutbow.
This was literally options for style of play with a certain build. When this patch happened and this thread popped up i honestly dont know if people got it that nothing changed.
Literally nothing except we can play a slightly more effective condi build.
Does it allow a potential clash in teams over style of play? NO
Does it allow for unique 2 vs 2 or 1 vs 1 build crafting? NO
Did it give us a better meta? NO
Does making it to legendary/Diamond/Ruby actually mean anything? Did we get a leader Board? Do we get to see who the Top MMR players are? Do we get unique items or skins?
Do people want to see different strats on rotations/build set ups/ team comps etc etc etc?
The answer is NO because nothing changed.
Please someone bump this thread some more so i can keep pointing out the things many PvP players want but have yet to get since the HOT expansion was released and the fact that many things were taken away and still not have been put back.
Im sorry but everything you are saying now is the exact same thing about spirit ranger/ hambow warrior/turret engy/ d/d ele that was said in metas before.
Not in the least. Those builds were powerful (in the case of turret engi, too easy to play at low-mid skill), but they weren’t completely insurmountable. Aside from the latest incarnation of d/d ele just before HoT, none were wiping other builds completely out of play which had been perfectly viable beforehand. HoT specs single-handedly made everything that isn’t a HoT meta build complete trash in comparison no matter how well it’s played.
Please, they are not going back. Many of us have been preaching the give and take of trait lines and classes for a long time.
If they don’t revert their power creeping ways, the game is dead (more than it is now). For what used to be a great game, it’s really sad to see it happening. That’s why so many people are being vocal about it. Unfortunately the current Devs have absolutely no clue how to balance, so I don’t see the game ever being good again.
The reason i brought up those builds was because they were easy to play and it did everything. Obviously the turret engy being the easiest yet with it you could compete with ESL level players, you wouldnt win in the team concept of a 5 vs 5 but if it was still here. It would be a Free 2 Legendary build.
Now why i brought them up is because the fact they kept showing there face. All those build support your team mate with boons, condi removal, yet didnt take any hit so you never lost a fight because you lacked dps, sustain, etc. Its because you did something wrong or your turrets died.
You can go back to the start with it and see youtube videos of caed vs backpack and backpack really only wins the 1 vs 1 with a spirit ranger.
Hambow which was something i played before they changed the cleansing ire thing to make it op with the sigil and rune changes.
Yet these 2 things died very quickly they were the first 2 and Anet saw they were bad and “quickly” changed the set up of how these builds would work.
Now the last 2 in D/D ele and turret engy took Anet years to change. It literally took the player base playing 4-5 d/d eles in ESL matches for Anet to say ohhhh ok i guess its OP.
Im pointing out the facts, the HOT specs like i said are clearly hurting build diversity, too way more damage, have way more sustain, by far is more spammy that literally smashing your face to the key board might work in keeping you alive or stun breaking.
Yet Anet has NEVER shown they care about the PvP enough to really go and make it balanced. This game is PvE oriented, just face it with raids, HOT content and the fact they are making a expansion without even making the small changes people were asking for when HOT first came out when it even came to PvE meta problems.
I dont understand why you actually believe they care? I honestly believe that after S3 n S4 of the Pro Leagues that Anet might quit trying to be ESL from the aspect of the different PvP events. They might bring back a WvW tournament or throw another shiny PvE item that people will want and then bam! 2/3 of the GW2 community will be happy.
This game wont die if PvP doesnt succeeds and you need to know that because they already do.
This needs to stop,
Elite specs are OP but they are working on a expansion and they said they were bringing more spec to mess with.
Its over, join the elite specs and try to make a build with the elite spec line and 2 core ones.
Every meta has had its OP builds and this is no different, GW2 added the 3 point line and guess what they are not taking it back so adapt.
No, it does not need to stop unless you want a dead game.
It’s not just that elite specs are far too powerful; It’s that most are brain-dead OP where you can spam and not be punished for it. THAT has to stop, and in doing so, you’ll bring elite specs down to a reasonable level.
Im sorry but everything you are saying now is the exact same thing about spirit ranger/ hambow warrior/turret engy/ d/d ele that was said in metas before.
The sustain healing/ passive stability/ passive stun breakers have gotten to a ridiculous point. Things you needed to trait for are now handed out, things you needed as a team utility skill now comes as easy as pressing F1,F4, or overload which are free skills.
Did you not just see what they did to warrior?
Please, they are not going back. Many of us have been preaching the give and take of trait lines and classes for a long time. If you want to play a bunker ranger thats fine just as long as you are not doing winning 1 vs 1 with in 20 sec. Im fine with you playing a glass ranger as long as long as you can get wiped in 10 sec vs 2 other players.
We had that in moments before HOT and if you havent noticed from the patches they are buffing certain aspects and the ones they dont like are changing.
You acting like your gonna change Anet decision because you made the 10,000th thread voicing your complaint about spam skills/ spam builds/ makes me laugh and cry at the same time.
Did you even play in Pro Leagues Season 1? Did they fix it immediately after seeing how much of a joke it was or did they wait till the quarter patch to say “ooops dont worry we will fix it” and like fools alot of yall believed them or actually believe these threads will make them actually say “hey they are right, we should REWORK THE WHOLE HOT SPEC LINE.”
Someone hand me a mic so i can drop it…………………………………

I don’t, but I can begin doing this again.
Nah no worries if you are not. Was just wondering if you did, thank you
I don’t get this thread, I understand that the OP wanted crtain traits from the disc line to be baseline. But God, we ohht to be happy the changes. I seriously belive that we are on par with scrapper now. A resilience tanky warrior would out sustain or even a beat a tanky scrapper ( still testing).
My point being, we are 100× better than we were last season.
Before HOT playing a meta build didnt mean total dominance. Now every build for each class has to have X n X trait line.
Now before HOT it was still true that ele player had to take arcane and water. But Fresh air ele played alot different then d/d and staff. Every warrior took discipline but a rifle, shoutbow, dps warrior all played very different. etc etc etc
Warrior will be better for season 3 but once again none of the classes actually got better in class diversity. When i play X warrior build, you wont be thinking i should switch to X build to counter it.
What ever the best warrior build is, that will most likely be the only viable build like all the other classes.
I disagree, as far as warrior is concerned, we have more diversity now, then we had then. Just check our forums,
and Onlysaneman is right, as a power warrior you don’t need disc ( although it helps), str/def/zerker is far better than any combo with discipline. And also having a traits with everything in would kill diversity, wouldn’t it??
Im sorry you seemed to miss the point.
Is warrior in a better place, of course the changes were pretty huge. But in the OP thread he ranted but it was about build diversity. It was also in the patch notes and from Anet as they were talking about build diversity.
Once again this limits what warriors can do. I say 95% of warriors will take longbow in this next season. In all season 1 all warriors had was m/s with gs, season 2 it opened up a bit with a condi warrior- gun flame warrior.
But getting to legendary isnt the point since many of us find it really easy to get to legendary. The point is quality of play and diversity in the class we want to play.
Atm revs are still OP because of glint and shiro but its ebcause they have no other option. Dwarf stance and ventari is a joke. Ele plays shouts because no other build can compete with the current meta builds.
Anet replacing potentially scrapper and DH with warrior isnt build diversity or creating a platform to show players skills.
Before HOT people complained about amulet and rune diversity since everyone in the Ag/ESL used the same runes and amulet. Now we are getting everyone uses the same EVERYTHING.
Defense/discipline/beserker to me will be the meta warrior and everyone will use those 3 trait lines in order to be successful. Yes some people will probably try to use different traits to say ohhh look i made it to so and so rank with this build. Yet it doesnt make the build good or viable with other good players and good builds.
Are you still posting the AG videos on you tube? I think AG 68 just happened, had some friends in it and was wondering if there is a video posted.
Thanks
I have to disagree about needing disc. Str/defense/zerker worked perfectly fine for me, and the last patch did give us a good bit of sustain. Defense is the only essential line, assuming you aren’t running a full glass gunflame build. I’d also certainly disagree that we can’t kill anything- I ran paladin for most of the last season and felt I was dropping people reasonably quickly despite the lack of ferocity. Granted, I only bothered to play til diamond, but that was more because I didn’t feel like muddling with the typical league toxicity any longer than anything else.
Calm down a mite. We were better this season than we were last- thanks to the reduced bunkering letting us actually kill things before stances ran out- and we ought to be better in S3 than we were during this one. We’re making progress.
Sorry i laughed a little bit when you wrote down i got to diamond, lol people got to legendary in 2-3 days.
Anyways i also agree that warrior is in a far better place atm but once again another class is forced to play a certain spec build. Everyone warrior build for season 3 will probably have defense/beserker trait line and if they dont they will under perform.
Before HOT playing a meta build didnt mean total dominance. Now every build for each class has to have X n X trait line.
Now before HOT it was still true that ele player had to take arcane and water. But Fresh air ele played alot different then d/d and staff. Every warrior took discipline but a rifle, shoutbow, dps warrior all played very different. etc etc etc

What ever the best warrior build is, that will most likely be the only viable build like all the other classes.
This is not a thank you moment, ever warrior build will now need defense and beserker to play what ever build they want.
I have found rifle to be completely ineffective now, hammer is in the same spot. Now i feel even more forced to play a certain build. Ill point out that i mostly PvP and i am using the exact same weapon set as you.
I went s/t with longbow and i have had good success with my build but i am seeing that the difference between I and my opponent are so much so that other warrior builds might not compare.
Thats not build diversity, im strictly talking PvP. Before HOT warrior had 2-3 legit ESL level builds. Ele had 2-3 ESl level builds before they nerfed conjure weapons, ranger had 2 legit AG/ESL builds, etc etc etc
We are talking different runes, different specs and different PvP play styles. ATM even with this patch every class will have to take the same 2 specs to be competitive at a high level.
If you look at PvP right now, every team has to play the same way. Before HOT Radioactive use to play some really troll builds with 2-4 bunkers. ORNG won playing very DPS orientated style.
Right now its copy and paste, pick 1 team in the ESL and 5-6-7 teams will have the exact same comp with the exact same specs/ammy/sigil because this patch changed the meta but didnt create diversity or style of play.
It was cancerous design. Now warriors have to actually play a build that can contribute to the team. Thanks ANET.
Please name a build that was better then gun flame last PvP season?
You had revs using the sword 2 skill from glint into shiro, to staff 5 doing more damage then gun flame.
I had 2 friends practicing 1 vs 1 with me and literally any build i thought could be even a little bit viable was smashed by the necro and rev.
Gun flame was literally countered by scappers and eles for any team fights. Yes 2 classes could counter a gun flame build in any fight.
On what type of phone do you play Gw2?
didnt know we had a mobile version..
right i wish, was trying to use the mini map to help out
Give them time to find a build using all the new stuff. Warriors has a lot of weapons and utilities, it’s not a class where you can obviously see what to use, and can handle multiple playstyle.
i think there’s a good build hiding beneath all the enw changes.
i assume there is but they buffed skills that need help 2+ years ago and most people dont even use physical skills.
wait wait they buffed physical skills ………………
I really hate this patch,
They talk about diversity and boosts up physical skills? They increase damage to longbow and other skills and reduce the damage of gun flame. I assume its because of the nerfs to sustain to other classes and the introduction of the new amulets.
What makes me so upset is they didnt fix core skills. 2 heal skills are broken such as mending not being a physical skill and defiant stance which is like the rev heal skill except 10,000 times worse.
The didnt rebuild ramapage, anet talks about sustain. This is a elite skill that pulses 1 stability and does far less damage after all the nerfs.
Warrior aside, every class has 2-3 useless elite skills. Are you serious anet?
We all know of the power creep, please play a core build vs a HOT build and you will be like wow. Then you increase the damage of a bunch of skills on warrior, ele, ranger and we wonder why the sustain is also crazy.
Lets call it what it is, HOT made this game more spammy, a faster button mashing game.
The amount of stun breakers, stability which now pulses, amount other crap is terrible for game play along with the other stuff.
Tarcis is a great player and has a great understanding of the classes which is why he excels at the game and the different roles he takes with his teams.
This build though makes me cry. I got to legendary on warrior too, im not about to come on the forum and say that gun flame warrior can be meta because i had success with it.
For me its hard to say,
Season 1 was really unfair from different perspectives. Ruby/diamonds teaming with amber and emeralds and crushing lower level players. You had issues with MM where alot of people were fighting ESL teams when we were in emerald. The the DC/pip/randomness.
Season 2, They fixed the smurfing but they allowed previous season legendary players a free pass. I mean i didnt even really try this season and i started the season 45-8 and that was over a 2-4 week span. We have all heard of people getting to legendary in 3-5 days. I do like the PiP win streak and the bug fixes such as winning a 4 vs 5 and not getting a pip like in season 1.
Overall i guess season 2 is better simply because the meta is slightly better but its hard to change since we still have the same problems. We went from a slow paced rotation game to a fast paced rotation game.
Build diversity is at a low and the gap between the best classes and the bottom classes are at its greatest since GW2 has started.
Maybe since i plan to take a brake from the game but the 2 seasons are blurred together for me with very little difference other then the amount of kills and trading points in the games. Literally all the same class are still dominating so for the last year its been ele, rev, necro, scrapper, mesmer, and a druid. They all have been using the exact same build though because really each one only has 1 good build.
I dont see anything wrong with this either way.
It might be ruby is the division you fit best in. I like that Anet made it so core F2P accounts are able to make it to ruby for the back pc. The back pc takes 4 seasons to make and people are raging because they cant have them now but its totally something everyone can acquire.
I would also like to think that being you have a core F2P character anet gave you a + for better team mates. It might be frustrating for your team mates but if they want to get into higher divisions as well. Everyone should have to earn it in a way.
For instance in 1 game i had a core fresh air scepter ele and a core warrior on my team and this was in diamond. I think this is good for everyone even if it costed me a pip.
I hope they take a look at the Guild Leader Board system. I just took some screen prints and are funny when compared.
That was the first video i watched of him and im sorry he is incorrect about some things.
1- F2P
I dont know if anyone notice this but as someone from Pacific timezone who plays alot at mid night to 2 am. I see people now doing jormag, shatterer, etc etc because of free to play players.
There is a negative side but hes completely wrong about the F2P aspect. Maybe Anet needs to loosen the rope on the trading post but everything else is a what are you talking about.
2- PvP
Once again he is generalizing, for instance i got to legendary this season as gun flame warrior, trap ranger and shout ele. Is the game more spammy? Yes but to say it takes no skill is once again not true. Why in the ESL league do you have 4-5 teams beating the other 3 teams 500-100 each week and these are the best players in the game?
Example, he used warriors physical skills. Before Hot most warriors ran 1-3 physical skills. In HOT warrior is the worst class so dont use it as a example. He picked a poor example to try and make his case.
This game has alot of issues but 2 out of his 3 points are incorrect. He literally said he got to legendary using a class he liked to play. Which is completely different from mine when i got to legendary, go figure.
