Current gunflame build?

Ive been on the verge of legendary for the past 3-4 days and ive used gun flame warrior.

Build is

Arms -2-2-2
Defense 2-1-1
Beserker 1-1-3

Rifle gets sigil of air and fire- great sword gets blood lust and the sigil thatadds might on crit.

Its 3 signets and the 2 obvious stances with the beserker amulet.

It is a good build and works well against the many. When you get into higher levels the really good players will target you and take you out pretty easily but these players are ESL level so until then good luck.

I just wanted to share this because so many people talk about this game being no skill, its all premade ts, build comp, match making etc etc etc. Here you had a ESL player solo queing in Diamond and he just took over by winning a fight that 98% of the players in this game cant.

Zoose is a great player. So what?

Is the moral of the story that if Zoose can do it anyone can?

No definitely not, this is probably just my way of coping with this.

Im trying to look at things from all sides. Ive been in T7 diamond for a good 3-4 days. I its not just zoose. Im getting ESL players on the other team every game i need to get into legendary and this is just my way of telling myself maybe its not my time.

Ive seen these players for years back in solo que and they are a notch above many of us. So i just try to remind myself that its not my fault they are better, its not there fault they always seem to be on the other team. Im also trying not to blame MM even though ive had 4 pips 5-6-7 times and couldnt get the win.

So like Dory said, just keep swimming just keep swimming.

If the team is average, 1 good player making the right choice at the right time could change everything. If your teammates are poor then your choices just won’t matter.

I watched the match where Zoose was playing and I believe he almost died and almost lost the cap but the person that came to help him made up for it.

So this is exactly how it happened from my point of view.

We had a 3 vs 4 at mid and were sustaining it pretty well. Our necro engage Zoose and our home. On ts my guild team mate asked me where to go. I said home since the necro would probably lose the 1 vs 1.

We had the mid capped so we are defending that point and i was hoping that they could kill him and come to mid. The necro was around 50% left and zoose was almost 100%. He killed the necro in the 1 vs 2 and he had about 10% life left and we had lost the mid fight and he got the helpt to kill my guild team mate.

Zoose was not decapped and he did not run from the point. This was the moment in the game because had they won the home fight they would of ran in mid and held that point and we would of won. Instead they got a 3 cap.

People make it sound like its all MM, yet there is no way to judge a persons ability in these situations. Ive seen alot of people be great in 1 vs 1 who are horrid in team fights. Then others who seem to survive well in team fights yet are terrible at running away and 1 vs 1. So MM might see 3 players as 7 on there board. Yet they are all team fighters so then they run into a team who has 2 great 1 vs 1 players and 3 team fighters and all of a sudden the match turns into a lopsided match.

Like i said, its hard seeing alot of these threads because there are many high level players who seem to be able to do everything and the many who come to these forums think that them winning some 1 vs 1 is the same as winning 1 vs 2.

I’ve lost so many games with Marvin on my team either because I sucked or somebody else sucked lol. Pro league don’t get free wins dude, I’ve beaten some PZ guys when they solo and hell they’re far better than me at PvP.

You know how people complain some games are literally unwinnable and teams are literally uncarryable? Well yeah guess what it happens even to pro league guys time to time.

Yeah, from time to time. It’s just they are far less likely to be placed in that situation, because the game is far less likely to put them on the losing side.

I disagree with this, if you are able to win 95% of your 1 vs 1 in every match on any point and then you have the ability to 1 vs 2 for long periods of time. You create the chance for your team mates to make plays in taking points.

That’s a nice story, but as you said you lost the team fight at far and your necro lost the 1vs1 to a scrapper. I have been in a similar situation where I have won my 1vs1’s on home/far but my team lost.

Winning one 1vs1 is not very strong evidence that a single player can carry a team, and certainly doesn’t prove that he carried the team in that game either.

Yes you are correct, winning a fight doesnt mean anything. I also would like to give I and my team mate some credit. I have mad legendary the past 2 seasons and our guild team has made it as a top 25 for the Gold Reward Trophy.

But he didnt win a 1 vs 1, He won a 1 vs 2. Winning a 1 vs 1/ 2 vs 2/ 3 vs 3 is every game. Players who know how to rotate can win games by simply being faster to fight and creating 2 vs 1, 3 vs 2.

He was in a 1 vs 2 and was able to kill the necro and he wasnt decapped which is very different then winning a 1 vs 1 in every aspect.

Ok so many of these threads are complain threads and I myself have done a few. I just would like to take a moment and talk about a match i had today with a ESL player.

I and guild team mate where in team speak and we are duo queing. The start of the match it says my name and it says Zoose E. I thought it was Zoose from team PZ and then i saw the PZ above his head and so yeah it was him. So during the match im telling my guild team member to target everyone else but him in the mid fight. We had 2 necros, I was on ele, guild team mate was on warrior and we had 1 dh. They had 2 scrappers (1 was zoose) and 1 mesmer, 1 warrior and a necro.

So we cap home and win the mid fight. This is where i see certain players just being better and having the skill difference. People talk about carrying bads etc etc and not being able to win vs premades. We were winning about 350-280 and it turned. We had a 3 vs 3 at far and they won, they had 2 instant rezzes ( i still dont know how this happens) and they won far i come off respawn and i hold mid as long as i could.

Zoose was engage with a necro in a 1 vs 1 on home and i sent my guild team mate to help. Zoose was able to kill the necro and sustain long enough for help to come from mid were we lost and they held a 3 cap from that point.

My friend in TS was like wow he is good.

I have a friend get to diamond solo queing who used axe/ war horn and greatsword though i dont know his win %. Hes still pretty good.

Legendary ranked queue times

Ranked queue are for PVEr farmers.

Unranked queue take less than 2 minutes and I play soloq with EzPz, eDrm, PZ, and CIE.

Wasting all that queue time for a grinders queue mode, is painful.

The fact that anything that involves GW2 has such a low amount of viewers on twitch and that the competative scene is so small compared to other games, does give a sign about the current state of PvP in this game. GW2 is still one of the biggest PC-games played I believe, but you never hear about it. This playerbase is mainly involving PvE and WvW, but it is the PvP section of a game that will draw attention from people outside.

There is a few things Anet has done to kill the PvP for twitch and outsiders.

1- Leader Board
No one has a clue if the person they might be following is actually any good, how do you follow a game/person out of thousands of players streaming to try and learn the game?

2- PvP PiP system
Im sorry but the same people are getting to the same divisions just about every season. Ive also had friends/ guild team mates win 1 vs 1 (necro vs necro) and my team mate was in sapphire and the other guy was in legendary. The PiP system hasnt been good for match matching or que times.

3- Build diversity
Its season 3 of PvP, almost everyone has gotten the wings and what is the incentive? People who love PvP want to play different kinds of builds and that wont be happening to much.

I know this thread is old but Anet should really try to give us a actual ranking system like we did with the solo que leaderboard and team leaderboard. Seriously give the PvP community something other then some funky looking wings.

Balance is pretty good, but MMR is probably the worst system I’ve ever seen in 25+ years of gaming.

Anet designed the current season to intentionally stack all of the best players in the game on one team, so players with higher MMR are literally steamrolling their way to legendary with 80%+ win ratios, while lower MMR’s struggle to make any progress whatsoever.

Beyond that, the system has been made so un-fun (probably 90% of the games you play will be 500-150 stomps) that most people just outright quit once they hit legendary, and those that don’t are stuck with 15-30 minute queues.

If you’re coming back for raids or PvE content you’ll be okay. If you’re interested in PvP, I’d avoid it pretty hard.

Also, I’ll probably be banned for this post.

This comment is about last season, this season match making is a mix of season 1-2. Also the thread topic is different from the actual thread.

Question about AR rings

+5 agony infusion is the name of the item, +5 agony resistence is how much AR he is giving.

I just dont get it though, before ascended armors you had to get infused rings and double up on the +5. That was how you got to 60 AR and now the max AR needed is like 150.

Also in the pic they both say +5, idk maybe they changed it and didnt want to fix the visuals. Feels a little cheap for everyone who infused the back pc and what not to get the 2nd infusion slot and only 1 infusion can get into the items.

Question about AR rings

So i did a ton of fractals the 1st time around and got to around 53 before the reset everyone back to 30. Im getting back into it kind of but i have these rings that say i have 10 ar on them. Yet they are only adding 5 to my actual resistance in equipment area.

Why are they not stacking as 10+10+7+7+7+7?

Ive asked for a really long time for some kind of gambling arena. So i would like to propose a gambling slot machine. You use spirit shards to play and you can get various random items.

Ive suggested many different gambling items such as cards from unique bosses like the Undead Gorilla King and Megalodon. Like a random drop, it would give meaning to killing these really hard champions which 99% of people skip. And a mini card game that could be played in the Guild Halls, i got no response.

The PvP shards are insanely useless and im sitting on around 3k. Let me gamble them please at a casino like machine that will give me 20 mystic coins and 2 t3 crafting bag for them. So i can be like woohoo i hit the jack pot, what you get? 3 rytlocks baby

Premades in ranked shouldn't be allowed

Im sorry but this thread really gets to me, ranked is for competitive play.

I find many of my team mates to be very competitive yet make bad decisions/rotations/ type what they want other players to do and those are wrong as well.

I and a guild team mate did some games together and went 6-1. Hes sapphire and once again this is my problem with the PiP system. Im sorry but its obvious many of the people who complain are not very good and seem to think they are the mighty gods of the human race. If we are honest it doesnt matter if you are solo queing/team queing you probably are not good enough if you are losing so handily in your current matches.

Facts-

*The badge by your head doesnt mean ability among players

  • Solo que/team que/ is not the reason you are losing
  • Incoming PvE players are not throwing out your ability to win fights

I have my own issues with the PvP system such as que times/ obtaining the rank you want to earn/ build diversity but ranked teams/partial ranked teams are not the reason you are losing.

I have to say that playing a range weapon has been harder since HOT but i still play longbow/shortbow on ranger. I also still play rifle warrior with greatsword.

Some things to keep in mind is that engy and eles are the source of the frustration so to keep it simple. Dont use your attacks when the engy has a circle around him and when the ele is in earth form and finishes a overload.

Ive seen some really good players still using range weapons, its just made it clear on what players know what they are doing and who are blindly spamming skills. Like seriously, some of the vids people are posting complaining about MM. Im like you doubled dodged in a 1 vs 1, WHY??????

I honestly dont think it makes a difference, your either good enough or you are not. Yes talking helps but it doesnt make the player better.

I think the ESL players could probably run non-meta builds and not be in ts and beat 98% of the premades in the game.

Id also like to point out that the team i was on had a thief, 2 engy, 1 DH and me on rifle warrior.

They had a necro, rev, engy, ele and mesmer, (trying to copy ESL teams)

Lets take out strategy out of PvP too. HOT builds and weapons are looking very similar to one another so why dont we just have all classes look the same as well.

No but seriously the beasts steals or set ups are a huge part of play. For instance you shouldnt go for beast at a random time. It puts you and your team at a disadvantage and for me its a really big tell on whether or not your team mates know what to do rotation wise in PvP.

So for instance my guild team tends to do a 1-1-3 split most of the time. The other teamed countered by sending 2 back to there home so we got the split we wanted. Our person capped home and went to mid where we then won a 2 vs 2 at mid. Our sustain guys were all at far doing what they were supposed too so we ran to our beasts killed it and ran back to mid.

They eventually lost far but we had a 2 cap/beast and 3 coming off respawn to watch home if people get nervous seeing we have 2 at mid. There are many other situations like this where you have to set up your beast kills without giving up caps.

PvP Matchmaking Boycott?

I’d rather they just do away with glicko and learn that it’s a team based game and not a solo player game. If they are that hell bent on Glicko, Microsoft has developed an alternative called TrueSkill that is based on Glicko …. At least with TrueSkill, even though its not perfect… it was developed with the purpose of multi player unlike Glicko which was developed for Chess players.

I try to see what things are from all angles and i have to admit the PvP seasons MM seem to be different all the time. In season 1 the bunker meta screwed some things up since alot of people could play a bunker mesmer and play better then alot of other classes just because of how OP it was.

Season 2 alot of us went straight to legendary and im wondering if they actually discuss what they want leagues to be? Alot of Pro level players want to stream the game and do it solo queing but they cant because of a number of reasons. Low-mid level players have the screen shot as the gentle person as above. That cant be fun for them either.

There has been a million suggestions and i know you have ran threw a million threads and probably have the best view on it. So im just curious if you have been able to suggest things to them and you saw that they implemented it into the game because of your suggestion?

Season 1 team ques were messed up. This was really bad so season 1 has some serious questions about the MM.

Season 2 they allowed great players to be matched up with other great players. Alot of the players i know and i personally started off the season with 50 so wins with only 1-5 losses. Seriously i got to ruby in 4 days from amber, people who play alot more got to legendary with in the week.

Here we are in season 3 and its a combo of 1 and 2. Shovel face has a complaint/vent thread because hes finding legendary players who do not care about he matches since there is nothing after legendary.

Id also like to point out that everyone who complains about MM and posts videos of there matches are doing alot of things wrong mechanically (which doesnt give the most might/vigor/regen/ etc boons or doesnt give the biggest chance for burst/rezzing) and rotation wise.

1 person posted a video crying MM yet in the match they had home and won a 4 vs 4 mid fight. 2-3 (including the OP of the thread ran far) which had 4-5 players coming off of respawn who then wiped them at far and took mid.

I posted if you guys wanted far 1-2 should of ran far earlier instead of stacking points having 5 people stomp or cleave 2 downed players. Many other players posted some critiques to which the OP of the thread got mad.

Which comes back to the point. Is it eh MM that makes you mad or the PiP system? I hate the PiP system, im sitting here as a rifle warrior winning many 1 vs 1 and doing a majority of the damage in team fights winning these points and i see in the mini map 1-2 players unable to win a 2 vs 2 or 1 vs 1 and i get frustrated because i lose PiPs due to other players unable to hold there own.

I find MM to be alright because no matter the skill level of players im not getting the 500-100 games i had a ton of in season 2.

I made legendary 2 season 1, i made legendary season 2. Im doing more WvW this season since i made the wings in season 2 and because i get frustrated over losing PiPs. I cant say MM is bad just the system in which PiPs are rewarded within the MM.

Because he is complaining about the set up of the PvP league system.

I dont believe in the drop of divisions but there is nothing rewarding in legendary that makes you WANT to get to the leg 2,3,kitten your getting players who are not at 100% mental stability and maybe other players trying 5 trap DH type of situations.

How about getting rid of the PiP system? I have nearly 8k games and got to legendary + season 1 and could of easily in season 2.

I have friends who easily could make legendary just as i have yet because they dont play X amount of games during a season they should have to deal with people who have no idea what they are doing? Please

Also id like to point out i took this screen print in season 1 because i didnt like the PiP system then. My guild team was ranked as a top 25 last season and got 26 in season 1.

2 of the players never got out of emerald yet they were beating people in 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 in legendary division.

Just something to add, im in t4 ruby and i saw shovel in a match and they won. He completely wrecked the thief on my team. He was in diamond, then he plays kanto another guy we team up with who plays rev/thief and he loses to kanto. In season 1 and 2 i didnt party up with shovel much but when i was with shovel, RG, and kanto we were winning a majority of the matches even with under powered classes.

It just brings into question this MM system. When i solo que i go on win steaks and losing streaks. When i party up with some friends who i know are good then we go on 5-10 game win steaks. Shovel is going threw that right now solo queing.

The pip League system is working as intended because the system is Anet’s goal. Whether or not we agree with it is of course debatable.

  • Casuals can reach Legendary through grinding enough games so they’re not stuck in a division that doesn’t mean anything.
  • Elitists reaches the higher divisions quicker, essentially getting better games, in theory.

The “i’m stuck with bad players” mentality is the same as Overwatch beleive it or not. Players in that game are getting frustrated for the same reasons as GW2 and they have 100x the polulation. The games are similiar in that 1 player can’t carry a team so you’re dependant on how each player plays.

Matchmaking is what the majority here complains about rather than the actual pip League system. Stacking classes needs to go.

I dont find class stacking to be a problem. Its only a problem when you lose.

For instance in the matches i posted. The 4 vs 5 win we had me (rifle warrior) a engy, a ranger and 2 thieves. The other team has a mesmer, ele, warrior, rev and a engy. We won and they had the higher ranks.

Ive had matches where the team targeted the ele and we couldnt kill that ele. Then i get mad and say you dont target the ele first. Next match same thing happens, we target the ele first and he/she dies instantly.

Ive come to learn from these leagues that it has nothing to do with classes but the people playing them. In season 1 i had 2 ESL thieves on my team. I ran MM necro and there was 1 engy and 1 ele on our team. The other team was a premade of 2 mesmer 1 rev, and 2 pugs with a DH and ele. We won and this was the bunker meta, with the DH counter to thief meta.

Like i said at the start, i truly feel players are trying to reach a division to get a reward/ claim to how good they are when 95% of players in this game are delusional. Fixing class stacking will not fix the fact that other players are better at the same builds and rotations.

We have players posting their losing streaks of 10,20, and more. Yet we have a PiP system that will still force them to play players with in the same pip range. Thats not class stacking, thats not being as good as the other teams players and no way of getting better matches.

I dont play any more or less games since the backpack was released, you shouldn´t expect everyone to dislike pvp. I even changed the skin of my backpack since i found it to look ugly after some hours playing with it. Obviously its only the pve´ers who´s “goal” is the backpack, the core of the pvp players simply play for fun. These are btw the usually winning guys that don´t cry about mm or pips and other useless stuff. :P

Yes but there are those who want leagues to mean something. For instance some posts are about Legendary que times.

Why would you want to que in legendary?

  • To play the best players in the game
  • For streaming purposes, for instances i have won a 1 vs 2 on my rifle warrior this season. That wouldnt help people learn about the game when the opponent is not very good.
  • For those who have a competitive itch and do not not have the time to find a team to compete in the AG/ESL scene.

These are just 3 reasons why high level play is struggling. Of course you want to play for fun. Im trying to look at it from all perspectives though. I have over 7k games played not including time spent in scrimmages and 1 vs 1/ 2 vs 2 private rooms after PvP patches.

Now try and ask these ESL players who have 15k + games played and who spend alot of time on this game. When you say Esports you are involving money now. ESL level players should have a chance to stream and talk about all the different aspects from team strats to individual keys to winning matches.

The word is incentive. There is no incentive for good players to keep playing since there is no INCENTIVE from any aspect to keep playing. Que times are too long, bad match making for top level players so you cant see good matches on there streams, rewards are bad. There are alot of things that are fun, GW2 gave us a PvP league and the people playing in it have no reason to continue playing at any skill level.

The second screen cap was a close game. But I do agree that the pip system is not showing “skill” at all. It’s showing who can grind out wins. What we need is a score system that places people by games played/win/loss. Then people will find out how good they really are.

The 2nd screen shot was a 4 vs 5 win.

I put the scoreboard over a team mate saying “even with a dc lol”

So you had 4 rubies beating 2 diamonds and 3 rubys.

So i got 2 screen prints from my last 2 matches. I must admit that ive only had 2 matches in the past 3 days but this is still the point.

So the first screen print is just a basic solo que match but you have 2 diamonds 1 side. This is the start of the problem. You have ruby players who might not belong in ruby and are simply grinding wins. Or you have diamond players that dont belong in in diamond. Or lastly the players on my team shouldnt be ruby. No matter how you want to put it, the PiP system is failing because players are just grinding threw to certain ranks.

Problems with the PiP system

  • Unfair match ups
    Just because a player is in sapphire/ruby/diamond/legendary doesnt mean they should be there. If someone is in ruby and they should be in sapphire based on actual ability and they got some good wins to get to this rank, good for them 1 but its forces them into players who might be legendary level players. This is unfair for both players.
  • Reward system

  • Purpose For leagues
    High level players wanted leagues to actually mean something. They wanted the symbol to actually show that they are a high level PvP player. Currently leagues are not fun for new players coming in struggling to understand a complex conquest style match, different builds from different classes, and trying to grind wins instead of grinding games. Top level players are struggling with build diversity, long que times, and purpose to keep playing past Legendary rank.

For me these are the 3 biggest issues with the league system. I dont know what Anet plans are, maybe after the next season they WvW tournament it and we never see it again. Maybe they scrap it like they did Leader boards. Who knows what the plans are but these issues need addressed.

My 2nd screen shot is just me trying to confirm my reasons. It was a 4 vs 5. We had 2 thieves and 1 dc 3 minutes into the match. So from the 12:10-12:30 mark we were playing 4 vs 5 and won as lower ranking players.

Its funny you put that unranked comment. I got to Leg in season 1 & 2 and im already into only dailies in PvP and i went into unranked with my ranger. We won all 3 points at start and the game was quickly 300-50 before they made a small come back.

But literally this DH tried sitting on the point as i used the 1500 range on longbow and my pet melee him. He didnt come to try and fight me off the point at all even though he couldnt hit me. I actually quit strafing and just stood there hit 1-2-5. He died and i could cap teh point and go on to receive all my daily rewards.

Im wondering if Anet thinks everyone will continue to grind out there PiP system in ranked?

I’m watching chaith’s stream and he had 26 min q in legend lol. When it pops he gets dolten, toker and himself vs a bunch of random diamonds (maybe 1 legend). Nobody wants to vs that and idk how you can incentivize people to play games which are basically unwinnable.

It’s ok once you hit legend since pip gain/loss isn’t a big deal but imagine you’re T6 or T7 diamond it’s just frustrating lol. Most people would just q dodge making for longer qs = rip.

This is another thing that ruins the game.

The PiP system, anet already knows who the better players are.

This might hurt the feelings of people who want solo que back but when we had solo que the same players all fought each other. Ranked seasons should be the same and simply give out rewards based on your rank.

I know anet wants to make it as casual friendly as possible but it sucks for everyone else.

Literally just had a match where we went mid 4 and targeted there ele which is fine i guess and we downed him. Instead of cleaving or going for the stomp 2 of the team mates started attacking another target and the ele got rezzed up. Then it happened again.

Then 2 of the players were blaming the thief who lost home. The thief on my team started whispering the other teams thief to 1 vs 1 him. The enemys thief in map chat responded with “if you want to 1 vs 1 go to a dueling server.”

Being in legendary was great since everyone has the same basic idea as you, you lost or won because of who was better. The grind to legendary is not worth it especially because in the last week i screen printed 3-4 matches we should of won but the players on my team had bad rotations and it costed us the match.

The PiP system and the incentive system go hand and hand. It sucks that the MMR system simply just doesnt take 3 ESL calibur players for 1 team, 3 for the other and then 2 borderline questionable legends and see how they do in that match. They either abused the system season 1 with mesmer or season 2 with necro. Either way they would know the truth.

To me this is probably the biggest problem with the GW2 PvP leagues.

Legendary means nothing, top tier players who stream and want to stream cant stream this game because to many of us get into legendary. Bad players dont bother to check there streams because GW2 is starting to look all the same.

Say what you want but ive never really watched someones stream. Ive only seen recorded videos when people have told me i was in X person stream but i came across Lord Helseth breaking down 1 of his own matches talking about what he did wrong and why he made certain moves. I bring it up because 1/2 the posts on the forum are about MM and Helseth made a good video on rotations and how he needed to be done solo/duo queing.

This thread needs a bump because the best players in the game are getting screwed with nothing to show for it.

Why didnt you stay on a cap point and win the 1 point preferably mid. That way if you saw him at far you take home as a decap because hes faster then you and hold the mid point.

If your team is holding a point and the enemy team is feeding that point. It is now your job to win out vs the thief on a point.

Im sorry but you say you have alot of of games with bad players which may be true but you didnt do anything to win your point.

You need to remember that this is still very early in the season to be legendary. Only the extremely good/lucky are legendary now. Wait a few weeks and queue times in legendary will be the same as they are in any other league. Most of the players that will reach legendary this season like myself are either in Ruby or diamond so you won’t get matched with those players now, but you will in maybe 3 weeks when they have reached legendary. It was the same with last season, the top players couldn’t get a match in legendary for over an hour but by he end of the season, I got to prestige 3 with no trouble at all with queue times.

You have to admit that is a horrible set up.

you win alot of your games early now you get to play 1-2 games every hour? Who will consistently do this for 4 seasons. To top it off your not seeing the top players/ teams playing anymore.

Season 1 i had to post on the forum crying because i was still in diamond and having to face team PZ (4 out of 5 members) 4 games in a row. It was fine but i noticed i was the only diamond in the match. So not only do i have to wait for 10-15 min in que but i was gonna lose and everyone was legendary but me. That is a horrible system.

Lets just face it, I for one play PvP alot less. I want the new title but after making the wings last season, i dont enjoy sitting for 5-???? what ever minutes wait for a game to start. Plus for all the Pro level players it cant be enjoyable grinding threw horrible players/ games to get to a level of fun/competitiveness and have to wait 30+ min.

Its amazing to me that Anet knew these problems heading in. The fix they threw in was a horrible because it still didnt change the fact that the better player would still win and then once again be stuck until the other elite level players grinded to the level.

Here we are in season 3 and que times are still bad, incentive is gone, Build diversity is still low. People crying over match making will always be that way but the fact that none of the high level ESL teams/ players other then waang shows a some what dying PvP scene.

I was solo Q-ing last night after i finished my PvE reset raids.

I had queue times of 15, 18, 22, 25, 21 minutes etc. I even had 2 of my friends queueing (not with me, just queued). Ended up getting some lopsided wins and then losses. Freakin rip, stuck in T4 diamond since I don’t play NA prime time

Yeah i dont know how you stuck it out.

I did 2 matches last night since i had that 15 min que which we didnt even play because 1 person in the team was like this isnt worth it. Then i followed it up with a 8 min solo que and a 10 min. Im sitting in ruby wondering how.

I log in this morning and the que times were better but once again im wondering who this is for?

The pip system is making players wait for ever for games. Anet is waiting for the better players to play enough games to get out of the PiP league they are in. What happens when those PvP players are not playing as much?

I honestly dont know who the PvP seasons are for. When i solo que i get above average que times. Like many of you im getting 1 good team followed by a bad one.

But even when i try to change what is going on to me by joining 2 random players in the jail cell called the mists i get this.

Im not sure what to do, if you solo que you are at MM mercy. If you join random players or a legit team for Ranked play you start getting unreal que times.

It brings up so many things such as fun or competitive scene. PvP leagues hasnt delivered either for the casual player looking for fun. Or for serious players looking to face other top notch players.

Someone on this forum posted last year ROM falling asleep on his twitch waiting for a que.

Who knows who PvP leagues are for.

  • Right mechanical setup (good keybinds, razer naga mouse, etc)
  • Sound class knowledge
  • Sound build knowledge (have to know how to build properly)
  • Role knowledge
  • Rotation knowledge
  • Working with others
  • And at the top of it all, playing on comms, with people you know, working it all in togeather.

So simple as that really

I disagree,

I myself dont enjoy mobas since i find them simply and champion based. I would prefer a game like conquest where there are many objectives and multiple places a fight can take place as well as many different strategies.

The biggest obstacle GW2 has is that its completely overwhelming for new players and its so casual based to the point people are kicking and screaming for a solo que instead of trying to find people play with.

Seriously the best players in the game are getting paid to play it. If there was a solo que im pretty sure we could name the top 50. With a few random really good players sprinkled here but the idea that there is a easy fix, simply solution for better games isnt a reality.

For me its people understand what they can bring to a fight.

For instance so far this season i have seen necros/DH/mesmer die instantly going into a mid fight lasting literally 3-8 seconds and booms dead. How are these people helping in any match? I saw a condi mesmer going for beast and it took him longer to kill the beast then it did for the mid fight to take place. I asked what he was doing and he said getting beast. I said are you playing shatter? He said no and i asked why he would go for that when his damage is slow? No response

Im perfectly fine with any person taking a class and saying i can make it work in this role. I saw Tage make a pretty awesome bunker DH in the EU Pro League so i cant judge a persons class and role.

The things you can judge

  • understand the head counts
  • positioning
  • What your team mates roles are
  • How well you do in fights

Big thing for me is when i see bunkers go to fight a 1 vs 1 on a point we dont own. I literally just made a post about myself getting blocked and i commented on how i saw 3 players on my team die in 1 vs 1 when i came to help and the person they were fighting had nearly full health and they died.

So its just like NBA basketball. Do you have good handles, can you shoot the 3, mid range, score in traffic near the basket, do you play well without the ball, coming off screens, offensive rebounding etc etc etc etc.

Each part of your game play has a huge impact on the match which is why these cry threads people post are so difficult to judge. Its impossible for a MM system to grade something like this without having actual people watch.

I made legendary 2 season 1 and could of gotten alot higher in season 2. Im about to hit ruby but i honestly except yesterday for like 5 matches have done all AP hunting for classes.

I know a few people who havent been playing much at all. 2 people i teamed up with in season 1 havent even set foot in PvP since they are working on fractal back pcs.

IDK either its they were not worthy of legendary and got it because of Bunker season 1 and above average MMR season 2. Or for alot of us, there is not a whole lot to play for.

i went far alot in season 1 & 2. In season 2 i ran to straight to ruby with maybe 5 losses and i ran mostly to far.

1st pic – 2 people ran far, 1 wasnt sure but followed behind. 1 ran mid but didnt contest since they sent 3. I ran home. They didnt contest far so the capped it maybe 2 sec after i did. At the end it was a 2 vs 2 on a point with me and a guardian/DH and he dropped 3 times and i rezzed him twice so i lost my cool and he whispered me.

2nd pic was a warrior who was always behind in rotations and sat alot. He and 2 others sat at mid while a ranger was fighting 2 on the stairs and i was fighting 2 behind the cap point. I died and ran to home and i was leaving since it was under control and the warrior again spoke up about paying attention when he wanted to leave and he was the only one at the cap point and didnt cap it.

Im in sapphire and the rotations are really bad. Players are 4-5 seconds behind where they should be and many are in decisive. My last match of the day im at far we have a 3 cap and the mesmer is sitting on the point with me. 2 people are going for beasts so we lose the 3 cap immediately. I leave since 2 of us dont need to be there and maybe 15 sec after i leave the mesmer gets decapped.

LOL no you are right, season 1 i really wanted it. Got to Legendary 2 almost 3 but fell back to 1.

Season 2 que times really made it so after i made it to legendary i didnt play anymore.

Already in season 3 i know this drug as GW2 to be done, its just not fun anymore.

I am not understanding this post, so you want Anet to make an exception for you? First, you are causing people to lose by playing a class you suck at; but you are complaining?

Players have to be rewarded for participating and winning game, losing in ranked shouldnt be rewarded. I know you want your backpiece and why not; but rules shouldnt be change to please the selected few.

And the average Q time in Saphire is 3 min (prime time)

I already made my back pc early last season when i started kitten and got to Legendary 2 in season 1. So not to worried about that and my points seemed to be missed.

1- Achievement Points
Its hard for alot of people to care about much in PvP since diversity is horrible. I myself am only trying to get AP points. The only way i can do it in PvP is by playing thief n mesmer. Not my 2 best classes and im already in sapphire. This isnt good for people i play with or myself.

2- Change the system
Its not my fault im playing thief & mesmer, anet made these the options for points instead of just allowing me to play to win. You didnt get on top of the old leader boards by randomly picking a class and getting 10 wins with them.

3- Que times
Which brings me to the real issue. Maybe que times are 3 min for you in prime time. I on the other hand not so much and ive only won 1 match, dc 2 times, and lost 4 others.

I said it in season 1 and made a thread about it after i had to face multiple ESL teams in a row. I said its fine give me these matches but give me my achievement points and my rewards.

Im sorry but its not ok that the better players in this game have to wait longer, play better, and carry lesser players to get to legendary.

The OP in this thread shouldnt wait 1 hr. Everyone knows if they can hang with the best players or if they die in every single fight.

All im saying is give me my AP points, better rewards, and a certain game requirement to play each day and bam we are not all sitting here for hours on end to do dailies.

same, oddly my internet is really reliable and in the past day ive had 3 dc in about 8-9 matches. When ive had maybe 2-3 dc in season 1 & 2 and this season.

My dishonor was 30 min this last time which is fine. Might need to get a PS4 my garden is pretty trimmed up.

I have to say Anet you really couldnt care less about PvP. Someone made a thread about rewards for tickets and shards and its almost like you trolled us because nothing changed.

Build diveristy is still poop. The amount of condi being thrown around is insane. I had a warrior (condi) necro (condi) and a ele fight me and 1 other person at mid and literally every condi in the game had to be on us.

You didnt help guardians/DH and you have yet to address core traits and weapons. Like a guild mate of mine was using staff and doing tons of damage but he wanted to use sword/ dagger or sword/pistol anything sword really and he said he was doing 2k damage. I myself find ele core trait lines to be so dependent on water/earth its gross.

Now there is a million threads on suggesting how to better build diversity, make core spec lines better and current, improving weapons and cd on certain skills and what people would like to see in PvP maps.

Which comes to my complaint, temple my favorite map now has timers on the top right for when stillness and trang pop. Why?

Legendary/ diamond players know the times and have for years. Its not a new map and we figured it out. I was goofing with 2 guild members and i was already having 5+ min que times. Ive played less then 5 matches and im finding it more and more to just be for casuals.

This game is making money off its PvE so i shouldnt expect much but wow. You would think that after 4-5 years at this PvP system. 3-4 years of WTS, ESL Pro Leagues you could at least put up a Leader Board, any type of reward that looked decent enough to wear in PvE, and some type of fun build diversity.

But no, time to make it more casual friendly. In the words of Mike O’brien “if you play Wvw or PvP, you play PvE”

Are you sure it’s not METABattle’s fault? I think 80% of PVPer’s just go there to get a decent build and go with it. The seasons get really competitive and everyone is paranoid that losing will trash their MMR. So the don’t risk experimental builds. I’ve been playing since 2012 and METABattle was not as prevalent as it is now. Back when the game was new, people had to come up with there own build and the META was a secret to be discovered. Now the best builds are laid out for all to see, so that’s all you see…

There used to be a site (can’t remember it now) that listed “glass cannon” “bunker” and “balanced” builds for every profession.

LOL no its not meta battle, ive said this before but right before HOT i was doing the AG tournies and you would see alot of different builds. I saw 1 ele play conjure weapons and beat D/D eles. Problem with the build was it needed staff so it lacked some mobility.

I saw all 3 guardian builds in AG from burn/bunker/ medi dps. I played a staff ele and warrior had the DPS rampage build/ or the team support shoutbow.

Meta battle is not the problem. I mean just looked at the Pro leagues so far.

Season 1 was the worst bunker meta ever do the point that a team made a small mistake and quit after the other team capped a point.

Season 2 every team runs almost exactly the same team comp and builds with engy/ranger/ele being the 5th option and having warrior, thief, guardian sit on the bench.

Anet/ESL had to make a no class stacking rule which we didnt have until Anet broke D/D ele and decided not to fix it until HOT came out.

Even when you go back and look at WTS 1 and WTS 2 there are some obvious build favorites but every class was in play. Unique builds depending on the team comp were viable.

Metabattle didnt break this game.

I mean one has to give. Either HOT specs get nerfed (which prob wont happen) or the treb gets a bump. The treb isnt doing enough damage.

I was in a match and im trebbing mid and its a 4 vs 4 since they have a thief capping 1 point and running to the far side to decap/cap the other point. My team lost the mid fight 4 vs 4 and i was hitting someone every treb shot. Most times i was getting 2-3 people witht he treb shot.

We have alot of bruiser type classes that do alot of damage and have alot of sustain. I dont care which one but there needs to be a purpose for the treb.

My favorite map is temple because trang and stillness actually mean something. Foefire you lord at 350 or not depends on the situation. Forest grab beasts at the end of match if its close or kill it after the enemy team wipes at your home.

Kylo right now, you dont really ever see anyone using the treb because it doesnt do enough damage. Anet might was well get rid of the treb and just start making 3 capture point only maps.

I dont know if anyone else noticed it but please let me point out this is a picture before the Rifle nerf. You can clearly see the boosts from claiming the tower. That is not how boost look anymore since HOT. They are now auras and all the buffs will display under a castle icon.

His build is not viable, those skills chosen are not viable and he is using core warrior which would last for maybe 35-45 seconds in WvW even in a 2 vs 2 vs other players.

Can i suggest treb hits do more damage? Im finding more and more people just fight threw the treb hits when running meta builds.

So maybe like 30-45 sec longer on the supply kit and a 15-25% increase in treb damage.
