The best way to dodge the AoE cannon phases is to have everyone spread out and take an empty corner of the map. Move just far enough to dodge the red circle and then move back to your spot. Since the AoEs follow each player around, it becomes very easy to dodge this way because they shoot at each player individually. You will receive one or two AoEs every 5-10 seconds rather than a constant barrage.

I have a razor mouse but it only has two extra thumb buttons. You can also bind the mousewheel click. I personally don’t like the mouse with the whole numpad on the side. You’re relying completely on one thumb to press all your skills and leaving your left hand with nothing to do but control movement.
Here’s my keybinds:
1=1, 2=q, 3=e, 4=r, 5=2
healing=g
utilities=2 mouse thumb buttons and mousewheel
toolbelt=z, x, c, v
I can easily keep swiftness by pressing on my thumb button over and over.

What are you looking to focus on with P/S? I run primarily P/P condition build that only uses the elixir gun for speedy kits and some extra condition removal.

Being that GW2 is a purely cosmetic game, I enjoy the look of my shield enough to want to always have it displayed.

I think you interpreted my post as a “why are you bothering with P/S”. I meant it as what kind of build are you looking to run with P/S. Like focusing on conditions or stacking lots of might with elixirs or CCs. This way we can help you make a build that suits what you want to do.

I actually made this for the same reason you are looking for. Generic AOE condition damage. 2k+ Condition Damage so your conditions will stick.

Flamethrower is used as utility, so you’re only in it to use knockback, fire field, or blind. I haven’t looked at it since the update, but with the extra burn duration you could probably change that FT for something else. Or you could forego that trait altogether and grab Speedy Kits that you mentioned wanting.

This is a good example. Generally, you want 1 kit for swiftness/support, 1 gadget with a useful toolbelt skill, and one elixir. The problem I see with going conditions on a P/S is that you will have problems keeping burn up. You will have no problems with bleeds and poisons. The rocket boot toolbelt is great but without blowtorch from the second pistol to support, it will not be as effective.

Here’s the build I used to use as a P/S before I switched to P/P because of a lack of constant burn. It focuses more on the pistols and fighting at range. Switch to elixir gun for elixir F+acid bomb combo and super elixir for cleansing. The elixir gun also stacks bleed, but at a longer range so it is good for using as an opener before switching to pistols on closer range. Use the healing turret offensively by detonating at melee range to damage, interrupt, and give you might. You can use whatever elixir you feel like.

I should have mentioned I’m new to Guild Wars 2. I wasn’t trying to troll. Tips would be useful though. For example what traits should I max out first seeing as I’m not 80 yet, what’s a good endgame build. I’ve been doing WvW to level and I just usually fall behind.

10 points into Tools for speedy kits. Bind it to something you can click/press on easily while moving so you can keep switching back and forth for swiftness.

As for endgame build, it all depends on what skills/kits you enjoy using together. Then find traits that focus on improving those skills/kits and then get gear that will support them.

To provide utility, like removing conditions. As he said, poison stacks in duration, so that’s probably why you had a lot on you. Furthermore, poison reduces the effectiveness of healing by 33% so it’s even better to remove it before healing.

If you’re having trouble with the signet, then go for “Shake it Off!” it’s on a shorter cooldown and also counts as a stun breaker. It also removes conditions from allies so that’s even more useful.

All in all, this is not a bug.

Ah that sucks, so as a warrior I MUST have condition removal at ALL TIMES and never use the other skills such as endrure pain, bull’s charge, throw balls, fear me.

A live warrior does more than a dead one. If you are so offended to have to carry a condition cleanser as a warrior, then stop using healing skills as well. Don’t you know warriors aren’t supposed to heal.

Mouseclicking each skill in combat is a terrible way to play and why would you need to cntrl/shift click any of those in a fight. It’s not like there is an alternative use on the skills when control/shift clicking.

I don’t know about control+keybinds because I haven’t tried, but I know shift+keybind works.

I am about to finish my Quip once I get my precursor, and I am looking for a good PVE build that uses no kits and uses pistol/shield. The reason being I want to display the weapon as much as I can, and since kits hide the weapon, this is a no-go.

EDIT: I’m willing to swap to a kit quickly for Speedy Kits purposes

We may not have that ultra burst of speed that allows us to chase or run away like thieves and elementalists, but we have speedy kits. Gives us perma-swiftness. It is not as a big deal in PvE, but in WvW it is a necessity.

I posted on another similar thread, I think the issue is people who simply run past the holos looking for pirates. If none are found they do not activate the holo minions.

Thus, after a while most of the holos on the map will be the minion type, not the pirate type. Eventually as they are activated and respawn the pirates will have a chance to appear again.

That’s what I’m finding. I see most players just run close enough to check and if nothing spawns then they run off to another. Ignoring the projectors means the only ones available will not have pirates otherwise someone will have already spawned it. It is best to camp the Dragon Bash suspects or the caches for pirates.

All other summonables do work this way, but they have mobility. Pets and minions can still attack while moving. We have to pick up and lose the use of the turret while on c/d just to stay mobile. I would like to see the c/d reduction on picking turrets increased to 50% to compensate for our handicap. It would allow us to redeploy quicker. This would not apply to healing turrets because it would make it overpowered to have a healing skill on a short c/d.

I do not believe that that you would experience any noticeable performance increase. At best, you would see zones load a little faster, but that is pretty much it. My PC has 4 gigs and with the game running, it still has some room. 6 gigs is plenty.

I use rabid armor and carrion trinkets. They both have condition damage as primary which is what I want and I get to round out the rest of my stats with the secondaries. Precision is great for incendiary powder, sharpshooter, and sigil of earth along with sigil of accuracy. Toughness/Vitality for extra survival and you can get 5% condition damage from both depending if you use runes of undead or blood injection trait. Power in general is good since relying purely on conditions to kill isn’t good when players can cleanse.

The issue is that you don’t need to interact with the holoprojector to spawn pirates. So most players will run close to a holoprojector to check for pirates and if nothing happens then they will run to the next one and only stop to fight pirate spawning ones. This means that the ignored holoprojectors never refresh and will only have holograms instead of pirates.

Go to places where there is a constantly respawning group of pirates. For Kryta, you can kill the ones in the new JP. In Maguuma and Shiverpeaks, go to the Dragon Bash suspects. For Ascalon, go to Vexa’s Lab to camp that cache.

The goggles are completely optional. If you do all the other diving locations, then you don’t need it.

I believe it is just Horrik’s aoes during the cannon barrage phase. You can log off and on during the last cannon phase and run back all the way to finish off the fight to get achievement. Does not require an alt.

Have everyone spread out on the cannon barrages. Take an empty corner and one will have to wander around in the center. It makes the barrages very easy as you can easily walk around the few that come your way.

That’s correct. I do hope that they eventually re-balance all dungeons to make them challenging rather than a game of how to skip mobs. Molten facility and AR have shown that they can make challenging content that can be completed at most levels so long as you are knowledgeable.

Dungeons have never been something you can just breeze with any players. It is a form of advanced PvE gameplay. This requires you to have built up experience of using a class and learning the dungeon mechanics. This dungeon is upscaled to level 80 so it is designed for level 80 players in mind. This dungeon has no level restriction because there would be just as many complaints about excluding non 80s. You can complete the dungeon with 1 or 2 non 80s, but that really depends on the skills of each player. If they weren’t good with learning dungeon mechanics to begin with, then it certainly won’t help if they are non 80. Being level 80 gives us a little more leeway to make mistakes, but doesn’t mean we can ignore dungeon mechanics.
These dungeons have no enrage timers like WoW, so DPS is never a key issue. You need to balance out damage with survivability such as interrupts, slows, condition cleanses, toughness, vitality.

Look outside your own group of friends/guild for help with doing the dungeon. I’ve run the dungeon once or twice each day with random pugs I find on gw2lfg. I have never met or run with these people before and I have yet to not complete the dungeon. We may wipe a few times, but each time we do better and eventually finish in an hour or so. The one time I haven’t finished and spent 4 hours on it was helping guildmates to complete it. My advice is to run with a pug and see how to complete it. Go back and teach your friends/guild how to do it.

1)You can use them in combat.
2)One time ability means when you transmute the dragonwing skin item onto a backpiece, the item will be gone. You will have to use transmutation crystals to move the skin from item to item after that.

There’s 3 caches. One at the start by the consoles, one on the lower deck of airship, and one in the water where you are supposed to dive into with goggles. And of course, there’s the magnificent chest at the end of the JP on a platform off the east edge of the top of blimp.

I’ve been farming them in Vexa’s Lab (a jumping puzzle/mini-dungeon in Fireheart Rise) where there is an AR cache located.

I tried to farm projectors and the spawn rate of pirates was terrible in Ascalon. I didn’t seem to have as much trouble in the other areas. I went to Vexa’s Lab and just sat at the cache to farm them. They respawn after a minute.

I cleared through my asuran starting area and followed my personal story to whatever zone was next in the level range and explored those until it led me to Lion’s Arch. Then I went back to explore other places.

I do put them at the bottom and they fill up with junk after my regular bags are full. It’s worse with invisible bags because I don’t even notice that junk is there because they are invisible to vendors and TP.

The option I’m suggesting would allow bags to exclude everything other than what it is supposed to loot. So if I would to only use the bag type that loots equipment in all my bag slots and turned on the option, then as I kill and loot it will only pick up equipment and nothing else because those bags will show as full for all other types of items like junk and crafting. The only time it should overflow items types to another bag would be to regular ones.

Cast slows and interrupts/dodge when they charge up for a pull. They make a very noticeable animation when charging up. Keep running and don’t stay on boxes any longer than needed to get over the lower lasers. If you’re not moving, then you are a viable target. Don’t bother with fancy attacks on the golems. Get a range weapon and just auto attack. The focus is on surviving and not fighting the golems because there is no time limit.

I think the current dungeons need to be reworked, but here’s my opinion of dungeon difficulty scaling.
When designing dungeon mechanics, you have to design it for either a single player or a group. Dungeons that are for 1-5 players cannot have complex mechanics because it has to account for the fact that a single player does not have support from others like revives/heals/cleanses/combo fields. As more players are added, you can only increase the health and damage of enemies. This can turn into dungeons into simple tank and spanks. An example would be the two lovers in AC story mode. They get stronger when both are closer together. You need to split the group up and kite them apart which can’t be done solo. Now I’m not saying that a very skilled and well geared player couldn’t just ignore the mechanics and brute force it, but it would defeat the point of making it a little easier for solo players to run dungeons.

I would like to see an option for individual bag slots to be able to set it so that a certain bag type will only accept its type of loot and not allow the game put other item types when all other bags are full. For invisible bags, I would like to be able to lock it to that nothing can go in when looting unless I manually drag the item in.

Point of interest: Pistol’s little aoe ’splosion does not spread bleeds. If traited for piercing, then each target hit by the actual bullet gets bleed, but not from the ’splosions.

Well that is aggravating. It still does pierce and explode at the END of its path. Well, this makes sigil of earth that much more important to apply that one extra bleed.

Sigil of earth and the sharpshooter trait gives you two crit procs for bleed.

Yes. That conforms to my answer of how your first example would work.
-1 second of weak burn
-10 seconds of strong burn
-2 seconds of weak burn

It is prioritizing the strongest burn over weaker burns. What I meant by queuing is that if additional burns are constantly being applied during a long fight with lots of players, the weakest burn will always be adding to the total burn duration but never actually ticking unless everyone stronger stops recasting.

Wander around and do events. Look for scouts who have telescope icons over their heads to point you to new hearts. Hearts are like quests but they are mainly to show you areas where events can occur. Completing events in those areas will usually complete the heart as well because they have overlapping objectives.

If you need help, ask question in map chat or help to kill stuff.

It could be the CPU, though you have a quad core at a decent clock speed. But it came out in 2008 and your GPU in 2012. I don’t like to overclock things, but that could improve things.

Turn off reflections and uncheck best texture filtering and vsync and you will see a good improvement.

Depending on what country you are from, the ingame currency may be confusing. Some countries don’t break down their currency into smaller values like China. It uses the yuan and everything from 1 to 1 million is the same name. The dollar and euro can be broken down into 100 cents each.

Technically the 1/2/3 skills comes from the primary hand weapon so that is the one you see swing/shoot. You will see it swing/shoot the offhand when you use the 4/5 skills. It is the correct animation.

I could be wrong. I’ve always tested it by myself on champs and adding might to see how it updates on each tick. For the burn queuing, I use world bosses or WvW legendaries where the fight is long and I can assume there is someone in the zerg with at least as much or more condition damage than me. Once I start stacking might, it will show my burns and I let them wear off and they stop ticking.

I’d like to see you results too.

@Might: Lets say you play an engineer with 0 condition damage at level 80. Stacking might to 25 will get you a bonus of 875 according to gw2 wiki. I as a ranger have 1081 condition damage without any might stacks. I too get might stacks from various skills/traits.

With 1081, that’s not a lot of condition damage. If you were able to see your burn after a few seconds then it’s possible that the other players’ burn wore off and their burn skills were on cooldown and didn’t apply any new burns so yours was the next strongest on the priority.

I tend to edit a lot when I post. The friend and recording software are best ways to test.

It’s not C. I’ve tested it a lot. Condition ticks update their damage each tick and use priority system.

I run engineer main with a condition damage build and we can stack a lot of might from elixirs but they don’t last forever.

Best way to test is to get a friend that has a burn skill and find a champ since they won’t die so easily. Make whoever has a weaker burn cast first and then have your friend cast next. Here comes the hard part. Don’t add any more attacks or things that can proc extra burns and count how many ticks of what damage you see. Recording software can help, but you need to make sure you can see all the ticks.

Take a look at glyphic weapons. Cheap and good futuristic look. I use dual pistols and have one default glyphic blue and you can get a red pistol version from SE dark inquest sets.

I think getting an SSD will help with slowdowns when recording. The regular mechanical hard drive has trouble keeping up with loading the game and recording at the same time.

Condition ticking damage is not constant once applied. On each tick, every condition(burns/bleeds/poison/etc..) is updated with the current condition damage of the players. So if the ranger’s burn is ticking for 100 and then he suddenly gets might or eats food, the burn ticks will change to the new condition damage of say 110. The guardian could suddenly get 25 stacks of might and have more condition damage than the ranger for a few seconds. When that happens, his burns will start getting applied since he pushes the ranger’s burn to the back of the line. Once the mights start to wear off and his condition damage gets lower than the ranger, it will start ticking for the ranger again.

I didn’t read all your alternatives, but burning stacks duration but prioritizes whichever burning has the highest condition damage first and the lower ones wait in line unless another stronger one comes by.

So from your example:
-1 second of weak burn
-10 seconds of strong burn
-2 seconds of weak burn

But if the ranger keeps throwing his stronger burn and is able to keep it up, then the 2 second weak burn will always get pushed to the back of the line and never actually do damage. The guardian can keep adding more duration on the stack but his weaker ones always get pushed back to wait until the ranger burns end.
