When you double click on the dragon wings, it will open up a window. Drag any backpiece item you want the skin on into that box and press apply. Remember that you will lose the appearance of the old backpiece so don’t apply it on top of another rare/unique backpiece.

The Wiki says the average is 57 games, or 28.5g but I’m not sure how they worked that out.

The wiki does the math for you. How are you not sure? Once you have the 3 wins, you can just trade in all your tokens and you will realize that you didn’t actually lose a lot.

its not fair man. If one pistol will shoot then im gonna play with rifle or something. Its two hand and better damage than pistol. wth i didnt understand anything. Please someone explain this

Pistols are great damage dealers. But their damage comes mainly from conditions. I stick a sigil of earth and sigil of accuracy in your pistols and with ~1550 condition damage, I can have around 6 stacks of bleed(120dmg*6), poison(250dmg), burn(720) on you constantly. My auto attack is around 185 so add the conditions up and that’s about 1875dmg/sec. Does your rifle do that much damage [plus conditions ignore armor? Add Piercing shot trait firing into groups is deadly.

As you level up past 60, there is a gear stat combo called rabid that fits what you are seeking. It has condition damage, toughness, and precision. I use it myself on my weapons and armor. There is also the runes of the undead for your armor too that has synergy with condition damage and toughness. I also round out my stats with carrion stat combo which is condition damage, vitality, and power in my accessories. Oh, the sigils that you put on your main weapons still work when you switch to kits. Most engineers seem to only use grenades for max dps but I find it too much of a hassle. Mix and match the kits you like using. Max damage isn’t the goal in this game, it’s about survival.

Best Moa Racing Strategy

in Dragon Bash

Posted by: kokocabana.8153

kokocabana.8153

It doesnt matter if you switch moas. Its 20% chance for each place.

You’re right in that the odds are always the same. I updated my post to say expected costs rather than odds.

Think of it like a graph of a wave that intersects a horizontal line. That line is the long run expected profit of 44s per race. The wave is the Moa’s current profit/loss which can be higher or lower than the average profit because of winning/losing streaks. In the long run, they will always average out around the horizontal line. Each Moa has the same odds of winning, but they are always on different points of the long run trend. If you stick with only one Moa, then you will ride the highs and lows of the wave and end up with the average. If you start changing Moa’s, then you change your point on the wave and will in a way “reset” yourself odds. If you’re Moa is on a losing streak, then you may feel inclined to change to a “luckier” one. If so, then you just moved from the low point in the wave that is expecting to swing upwards towards a point that is high and is about to swing downwards.

Here’s an example of the waved trend graph

Best Moa Racing Strategy

in Dragon Bash

Posted by: kokocabana.8153

kokocabana.8153

Moa racing runs on statistics and there’s no luck involved. You will never make a profit in the long run playing because this was made as a gold sink and the expected profit is less than the cost. If you are going for the 3 win achievement or the mini, you should try to minimize your costs. The best strategy is to simply bet on the same Moa everytime. This will minimize your expected cost as switching Moas can only increase it.

Here’s the stats:

Are you sure next year we won’t have an all new currency? What is your evidence?

Since we’re in the first year still, I can only draw on all the MMOs that I’ve played. There may be a new reward/activity added each year to spice things up, but I have never seen a recurring event change currencies. Box sales go towards recouping development/publisher costs. Gems sales go towards maintaining the game after launch.

@Devata
Do you think that whatever real goodies like rylock figure did not cost them money to make and ship to you? You make it sound like you paid more and got the same thing as players that only bought the regular edition. Players that used real money to buy gems and then bought the CE would be supporting the game after launch because they are buying gems. Plus they don’t receive any extra real goodies like a rylock figure.

kokocabana.8153

It’s true that you can determine the cost of a legendary in real world money, but it is a poor measure of its value. Because you can trade real world money->gems->gold, you can tell how much it will cost you. But since you can’t bring that gold back to real world money, value becomes distorted.

It’s like if I wanted a new car that is worth $10k. I can go to the dealership and buy it. The cost is 10k and the value is 10k(let’s pretend there is no depreciation) because I can resell it right away for at least the cost. Buying a legendary with gold earned ingame is like this.

However, I could also hire some car builders to construct that same $10k car and it may cost me $12k because they have to build everything from scratch and do not work for the car company. Buying a legendary with real world money is like this.

The coffers are guaranteed to drop candy, fireworks, tonics, or food. Clearly stated in the item description along with a very rare chance of a skin. Sounds like kids who throw tantrums when opening presents because they didn’t get the exact toy they wanted. Isn’t it more fair that everyone gets the same odds instead of getting better odds because they have a bigger wallet to throw away money?

Oh wait, they gave a pack of minis to players who spent real money on gems. It’s not the toy you wanted, but it’s the thought that counts.

And people enjoy the game different ways. What you may see as enjoyable, others may not. Don’t think that cause people aren’t doing things your way, that they are not enjoying the game. We are all different and enjoy different things. I see this argument all the time on these forums. People need to realize that everyone finds different things enjoyable, so stop telling people that they are not enjoying the game or not playing the game right, just cause it is not the way you play the game.

Then all the ones who whine about the coffers should stop telling everybody that all is bad and ArenaNet is the greatest demon in the world, too. There are people who enjoy this event. And I for myself think that this time the coffers are really great. Cause they drop a lot and there is every time the chance to get a ticket. Far not as frustrating as the southsun-crates.

I agree. The drop rate could be unchanged such as opening 100 coffers is about the same as opening 1 southsun crate. But you know what? I like opening lots of things and I am having fun.

This is about entitlement. I believe that the Dragon Festival in GW1 is an annual holiday, so why would this be any different? I’m sure people were complaining about how they couldn’t get all the toy minis in wintersday as well. For players that started the game after wintersday or halloween, why aren’t they complaining that they didn’t get those rewards? Because it will come back next year.

The moa races can be expensive, but there’s no need to complete them for the shattered wings. There appears to be several more story achievements coming along so you can skip it. If you really need to have it, you can wait til next year when you hopefully have more gold.

The wings in my opinion are not meant to be acquired by most players in a single year. We are already getting immediate rewards from the hat thing from fireworks and shattered wings from achievements. This event is a holiday and it will be recurring each year. Think of the wintersday event. They only gave you enough materials to make 2 of the 5 toy minis and a backpiece(at least I was only able to make 2). Immediate rewards along with something to look forward to next year.

I click on a certain day that and it will pop up info similar to what is seen in the event guide here. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/a-guide-to-dragon-bash/

Of course the usual kinda stuff like guilds being able to mark down events should be implemented too.

The point is that everyone had to buy the game at some point. You paid a little more for the CE edition and got some real and ingame things. Even if you consider ingame items worthless, you still got something real. I bought the regular edition and only convert gold to gems. I think it’s nice of them to reward loyal supporters of the game even though I won’t receive it. Plus, you can always get the minis in the gem store on your own.

My question now is why aren’t people that bought the CE and also spent real money on gems getting something even better?

Thanks for the response. Many players do require direction and I believe you can do that without spoiling things is by adding heart NPCs to the event and have scouts/heralds/letters point out where they are. In this way you can have your achievement log simply be “complete 10/10 event related tasks”. Once a new phase of the event is added along with new content and achievements, you can add or remove these heart NPCs. Once the event ends, you can completely remove them. In addition, these heart NPCs can be used to offer rewards like the flower backpiece in Southsun instead of just having it pop up out of no where on your screen.

Here’s the quote:
“There are various bits of story spread throughout the Southsun Cove content. Some are in idle scenes, whereas others are nestled in journals, conversations, or achievement lists (which, due to a bug, did not obscure later events and revealed some spoilers ahead of time). Having a few story cinematics at key moments would have certainly helped players piece together the plot, so in the future we will likely use them in ways similar to the F&F releases.”

In the last Southsun event, we knew from day one it was Canach because of the achievements when we were not supposed to find out in the second phase. I’m guessing you are running a radeon 5850 1gb. I have the same card and I keep it at default 765/1125mhz and the game runs just fine. My CPU is i5 760 with no overclocking and 4 gigs of ram. I don’t know how you are monitoring the GPU usage and heat, but if you are alt tabbing and to check the Catalyst control panel then that is inaccurate. As soon as you alt tab out of the game, the card powers down to lower clock speeds. I believe your overclock speeds are near if not the max setting that Catalyst allows.

I can max every setting at 1080 with rendering at native and the game runs 30-40. I find the 2 biggest things that eat up performance is best texture filtering and reflections. Reflections for some reason eats up FPS with no real quality difference except around water and FPS still goes down even when theres no water around. I thought it might be armor shine, but that comes from shaders settings. Turning those 2 off I get 50-70FPS. Zergs eat up a lot of performance as well in WvW or Southsun champ farms. It will drop to 20ish but not unplayable. My WvW culling settings are at medium/low. There’s no need to see everyone in the zerg, you just need to know it’s around you.
