ha try being a grenade engineer in a wvw zerg with what seems to be unlimited retal going on. its not fun after a grenade barrage followed by all my grenade cooldowns

throw gunk – as well as applying all its conditions inc confusion it also has a blast combo field. when using any blast finisher inc short bow cluster bomb (un exploded cluster) it creates the chaos armor bubble on every 1 around it for a few seconds.
i noticed this on my thief when i had the idea to use a blast finisher on the gunk to see if it had any

hi. so i found a very odd issue with the animation setting on high in certain locations around the gameworld. be it very few its still an issue that is bugging me. i found the way to fix it so it done affect me playing in those areas, but is still a game related issue.
so in the following locations (and even then only certain areas)
CoF exp. when entering the back drop causes a 50% loss in frame rate and stuttering
CoF exp. when at the gate on path 1 the back drop for the flame cage back drop causes same as the entrance
CoE the holographics image at the entrance causes 50% loss and stuttering
CoE certain doors with energy field windows causes 50% drop and stuttering
Metreca provence the secret lab that needs an energy crystal to open the door causes 50% drop and stuttering and so does half the lab
Shaman world boss in iron marches in the area thats walled out and always on fire that area causes 50% drop and stuttering
Fractal Human vs Charr this entire dungeon from start to finish causes stuttering and 15 fps drop
During the fps drop having vsync off and frame limite to unlimted still had exact same fps when looking directly at these object / backdrops and never goes higher then 30-40 depending on area. in effect locking me to a set fps.
how ever when i turn animation to LOW it runs 60 FPS no stuttering no dropping,

i am no amatuer builder or gamer. i know how to handle and maintain my system.
it could be an issue with the game. it could be an issue with the 600 cards from nvidia it could be a combo of both. and yes i tried those areas with HT on and off same thing.
now i know i can set animation to low and play like normal with minimal loss in visual (it really isnt much differance) but its the fact ihave to lower 1 setting in certain area.
i also set every setting to low then spent a while raising every setting untill i could recreate the stuttering.

excuse the 480p setting on video had to be done to not impact fps for testing the fps drops to a low of 25 and max 60 as vsync is on. and frame limit is 60 as they are a little blurred out.

i have the same issua in CoF entrance and certain lava spots. have the same issua in CoE at the giant holographic image at entrance. outside the secret lab in metrca that needs that power crystal to open. and the shaman world boss area in iron marches, and the human vs charr fractal. these exact locations cause issues.
everywhere else in the world is 60 fps on max with vsync on
i also found whats causing the issue.
animations set to high casuses a 50% loss in fps and stuttering, same as medium.
setting it to low boom 60 fps no stuttering or issue in said locations.
i7 2700k @4.5ghz HT turned off (no differance on or off)

so to recap in certain areas on the nvidia 600 cards there is an issue with animations on high in few locations,
when set to low very playable and also i dont see much diffrance between high and low. the openworld is fine mostly (2 locations)
however no issue for me in southsn regarding lava.

the young karma special attack has a 700 range. if you use a short bow or pistol to start the fight u can auto attack while it uses its special take no dmg. then charge in andmelee if you wish

if running about with P/P is enjoyable then thats all that really matters.
and besides a P/P thief that nows how to use the aoe targeted stealth is really handy for stealthing downd ppl and ressers. its just a point of view i guess.
then again us till think damage is all that matters, not the fact u can do an entire fight as ranged with no melee and not die like msot melee zerker thiefs do every 5 seconds
which is a utility in its self as u dont cause ppl to spend time ressing u and not “dpsing” hehe

always stay with a zerg in wvw and dont seperate or stay at the back.

so why do you play P/P and what makes you enjoy it
i enjoy running around with dual pistols tomb raider style (i grew up with those games) and enjoy being ranged. then swapping to a short bow for aoe madness makes the thief a very fun class to play as a ranged style.
this is why we play games right ? to have fun ?
as this is not WoW there is no real enrage timer or dps requirment on boss fights. its basicly just stay alive and dodge the big attacks, so does it really matter how much dps 1 weapon set does over another , as long as you have fun.
this is why i like GW2 i can choose a class and weapon set and play it the way i want. which makes the class choice huge
e.g go P/P as a thief = gunslinger, go daggers = assasin, go sword + offhand and be a duelist, go short bow and be poison / bleed aoe monster.
also dont forget just because melee hits harder does not meen u do more overall dmg on fights where melee is really nasty to maintain (like most fractal bosses
). there are no dmg meters so no 1 knows really what does more or less dmg overall during a 3 min fight. burst dmg is not sustained dmg
.
this is how i see the game and why i can play anyweapon set and enjoy it. i dont think of the numbers only the play style

very effective build high damage output and very nice int to.
the extra int pool + int from steel along with zerker gear is very high dmg output. also due to the chance on crit for int regain (1 sec cd) unload channel time it helps regain nicely. you also have the high crit chance and crit dmg from the build to along with high power.
this is my own personal choice for specing P/P with full zerker gear and i love it.
no matter how much Vit you have on a thief if u get hit by a boss you go down instantly anyway so no need to waste on vit. and use signet of malice + omnom pie = high sustained health regain via unload.
the only thing i regret on my thief is rolling asura (pistol animations all bugged on alot of weapons) so im rerolling a human thief

ill try to explain it better.
every other setting on max with the frame limit off will go to around 30 when i look at certain background scenes in certain areas. ill make a video later to show u what i meen.
like when u enter CoF and get to the main chamber when i look at that back ground with animation on high it drops to 30. i set it to low it instantly goes to 60. same when in the human va char fractal most of that runs smooth just certain areas or something i look at it drops.
its not a constant drop when animation on high its only certain areas as i have tryed to explain

update
i may have found the problem.
the animation quality setting on high causes stuttering in certain areas with unoptimised rendering. setting it to low removed the stuttering.
seeing as my machine can handle it all on ultra its an issue with the game.
perhaps some of the devs can look into this

ok so my system is very nice and powerfull no denying that, most of the game is smooth and fine ofc WvW is a bit demanding but i accept that.
now when i go CoF i get fps stutter FPS drops to 40 even with vsync turned off. it it stutters very badly, also in metrica provence that secret lab you need a power gem to open also in the human vs char fractal i get this issue, and also in iron marches in the flame legion with lots of flame effects.
everywhere else in the game is normally 60 + only on zergs it drops to around 40 but it does not stutter and is playable.
its the kind of stutter where it feels like your trying to turn a freight train with a feather duster.
if any 1 else has experiance this plase let me know
graphics options on high reflections to terrain and sky only FXAA 60 fps limit vsync all the lovely textures and everything
nvidia 314.22 drivers (always clean install and old drivers removed first).
this is the only game i experiance this stuttering.

i play a P/P zerker thief in pve. i use signet of malice + omnom pie to compensate for my 10.8k health pool and squishyness. yet warriors have 18.5k in zerker wtf ???
perhaps buff all armor class to same hp like war +gaurdian 18.5k, thief engi ranger 16k, ele necro mesmar 15k, for pve only. heavy armor class should have highest hp pool. medium armou should have second highest and light lowest as they are mostly always ranged and have nice abilitys
please make omnom and other life steal foods be based on 2 procs every 2 seconds. this atleast makes it balanced in pve.
better yet ban all food buffs in WvW and other pvp related QQness as i guess its a PvP nerf because who crys nerf for pve survival in fractals or arah exp ?
stop nerfing nice things. its like WoW all over again, everything nice and worth using gets nerfed because some ppl cry about it in pvp even if they suck and have no skill and know it.

P/P is not largely a condition spec. thats P/D with vital shot stealth ability.
P/P with unload is direct damage. once you learn a ranged mobs patterns and know when to dodge u can just slaughter everything.
full zerker gear + signet of malice + omnom berry pie (or same food for lower lvls) even with the internal CD now it heals alot due to high hit volume from unload.
no P/P does not hit as hard as melee based weapons (duh) but it lets u do fights that normally cause melee to run around like a headless chicken avoiding AoE and boss attacks. while P/P u strafe circles around the boss keeping a constant and reliable source of damage.
and if you spec into +3 int and int on crit regain, you quickly see how long your int actually lasts. i can just spam unload all day and only have to stop every now and then (also when using dodge or LoS attacks that lets u regain int).
yes P/P lacks some damage and yes it can use a buff. but its still very nice to use ikittennow how to use it.
alot of people who say its bad just stand still and dont move (u can shoot while moving like zomg wtf no wai) and if u shoot then jump u keep shooting while jumping (unload) so u can hop all over the place (i play asura so i need to jump !).

its good. you just need to elarn to move and not stand still.
P/P single target
ShortBow multi targets
takes 0.5 secs to swap to it. and spam cluster bomb, detonate it before it hits the ground as its then 4x explosions per target, and works very well with signet of malice.
going P/P short bow you forsake stealth for ranged damage and longlasting power. you can use zerker gear everywhere then, and lets face it even in full defense gear your gonna get 1 shotted by bosses cos thief are just squishy.
so follow the 5Ds

highest damage output in zerker gear with all of the above combined.
only reason i dont play gw2 anymore is due to the huge class imballance for pve when it comes to zerker geard (lets face it who takes a non zerker thief to a dungeon, if they take a thief ever).
nice game. really poor class balance / design (hello engineers).
and what happend to just having pure direct damage casters (ele comes to mind) all these stupid aoe and burn stuff.

for the ppl argueing about 30fps vs 60 fps
u dont notice the frame rate but you do notice the RESPONSIVENESS of having 60 fps ovr 30.
60 fps is far far smoother then 30 fps when playing and u can notice it.
like when i play at 30 fps it feels a bit slow compared to 60 fps and i can tell when the game goes from 60 -below 30 just by the responsivness of camera movement.
there is a differance from 30-60 but not in the sense of oo the human eye cant see it. which alot of console players never realy understand

1. your i7 is very old and very underpowerd. most modern i7 are 3.5ghz stock speed and OC to 4.5ghz or higher.
also try building your own pc designed for gameing and not buy off the shelf pc.
2. Minimum specs is not about the game runing smooth its about the gameing being able to load up to title screen and enter the game world.
or if u still dont listen its so it can install and not have any errors when trying to run the game.
3. gw2 is useing 3 heavy threads and this casuses bottle necks. for somereason game designers are ignoreing the fact that alot of ppl have high end machines with hyperthreading.
Its getting lame when an mmo launches and has poor performance (tera swtor gw2).
wake up dev team its 2013 not 2004 who uses single threads anymore when most players have hyperthreaded quad cores !

i am fed up sitting in lions arch looking for fractal groups. soem days it takes me up to an hour before i find any.
its time you add a cross server fractal / dungeon finder system.
guilds i hear you cry. pah most of them do it once a day then never go back and just log off. or they dont like it.
cross server dungeon finder tool for fractals / normal / expl dungeons. once a group is formed you get ported to the dungeon.
the porting is no differnt to a pug foerming then just porting outside the dungeon so dont even try to cry about that.
id rather have a 10 min que and get a group and be able to do dungeons all day long with ppl who want to do it. then sit there and spend an hour to find ppl who only do 1 path then leave. causing more headache to find more players.
its 2013 time to get with the times people.

fractals = optional, ascended gear = only needed for high lvl fractals = not required for normal game play
dailies = optional, for those who like to do them,
fractal rings at lvl 10 u get a token a day, 10 tokens = 1 ring you choose stats for
lurals for ascended gear = 30 days for amulet via dailys or 20 days + monthly.
please stop whining about gw2, try games like AION TERA or any other korean mmo then u can complain about how long things take to grind or RNG.
also look at WoW gear progression, 1 item from a vendor can take 2 weeks to obtain = 14 days and all raid gear is pure rng with no way to obtain them outside of raid enviroments.
if you dont like it just quit. the game still has what it says it has. just a very small part of the game is for a small portion of the comunity.

1. asura are ment to be bald due to living underground where hair is useless. they only have hair in gw2 so ppl dont go EWWWWW and not play them.
2. asuran culture the ears are the focus of attention in both looks and attractiveness (if u ever notice asura npcs say “my ears”) try an asura and use an emote and watch the ears and how animated they are.
3. pale skin because they lived and evolved underground

hey guys just a quick question.
i want to make a berserker stat ascended backpack in mystic forge. i got the essence drop in fractals i have the 50 ectos i have the tokens and the SP items, which tier 6 item do i need to make it.
i heard its 250 vial of powerfull blood but would like some 1 to confirm this so i dont waste 30g on the wrong mats needed

P/P and short bow also great combo if u want to avoid melee.
SB aoe is very powerfull once u learn to detonate the cluster bomb just b4 it lands, it does more dmg if it all crits then a unexploded cluster and stacks more bleeds + heals 4x as much when using malice. also the posion aoe on SB is nice, its dmg ticks also trigger malice when aoeing.
also as a thief evasion = defense so learn to dodge dip duck dive and dodge !
and as stated once u get lvl 80 and use omnom pie + malice even in full zerker gear and 11k hp u can last longer then alot of ppl with the self healing (provided you use the 5 Ds of a thief ^).

daecollo try going glass cannon and spam unload. i assure u its not lacking dmg.(as P/P is clearly designed for unload spamming).
its mostly #1 that is the issue when going P/P.
as for traits, since when is there any “original” builds in any mmo that has a tallent tre / trait system, we all use the most effective build for our playstyle mostly cos any other uncommon or unused builds are just rubbish

now i do agree #1 #2 and #5 for pistol need to be sorted out.
- = 6 ini cost but no stealth = lame, so make it 4 ini cost for its blind field when only using P/P so its not OP when using D/P S/P,
make #1 scale better, make its direct dmg do twice as much at the same attack speed and have its bleed scale with power when P/P.
now as for body shot when using P/D make bodyshot stack bleeds, and when P/P make body shot snare/slow.
due to unload spammy nature maybe a small dmg increase would be nice. and maybe reduce its ini cost to 4 perhaps.
headshot is perfect as its an interupt not a dps ability so its dmg is fine for what it lets u do.

either way is both viable playstyles.
i lvled at P/P power / prec with SB for aoe. had a fantastic time lvling (this was in headstart when personal storys etc was buggy
) and do silly ammounts of dmg with unload as a zerker build.
dont forget if there is a condi necro or other condi class u will be fighting for the bleed stacks as it is 25 max and a necro overides a thief condi very fast. so do grenade engineers.
and yes earth sigil has an internal cd and has very bad synergy with unload. its due to pistol problems.
as a P/P power / prec thief i understand the issue with pistol. the main hand #1 and #2 are a little confused in what they want to be.
it wants to be condi but has short bleeds and it wants to be a vuln stacker with high cost, combine this with pistol offhand it that wants to be direct dmg / utility (the offhand is very very nice to have and should not be changed only imporoved like black powder being 4 ini cost).
so if u want pistol condi builds going P/D is a very good way as u then have access to stealth for bleed stacking, but then if thats the case u are better of going D/D for condi stacking as u will have to be melee range for P/D condi stacking anyway.
shame really as Pistols can have alot of potential if fixed, like for example if u use P/P it becomes a direct dmg set or if u use P/D it becomes condi focused, and maybe make body shot become a bleed stacker when using P/D and when using P/P bodyshot becomes a 900 snare which gives P/P an advantage in all aspects.
anyway im just rambleing on TL:DR- both condi and power/prec is viable it just depends on playstyles.

well i use 25/30/0/0/15 glass cannon for pve and WvWvW, roam about with a few other ppl and let them engage then u start spamming unload on the target.
i assure u they go down very fast, ofc u also go down fast so have shadow refuge and stealth heal(i forgot its name i mostly always use malice most of the time) for 1v1. also use short bow for mobility as stealth is not your defense but evasion.
i also use this in sPvP against random scrubs who are not very good. its nice to go on a killing spree and see 6x top player icons apper at the end of the match.
so yes vital shot is not so good. but if u go power crit crit dmg and focus on unload and use the dual skill trait dmg bonus flanking strikes and pistol traits +20% more dmg below 50% hp then unload blows them away very fast

yes they can dodge but thats why you use steel after then dodge (use mug) it hits them hard and u can unload (also never stay still and learn to shoot while strafeing while running at full speed (i mouse turn and have A D as strafe well its turn but with mouse turn u strafe and move forward with w and u can shoot while running forward while shooting behind you)

as a P/P glass cannon unload focused crit machine
i use signet of malice and omnom pie + unload spam = insane constant healing.
so what do i bring, very high ranged dmg output (unload spam does do this) shadow refuge to use as an agro dump for group members like eles / necros / rangers or to use on a downd player who is being ressed = no agro for the resser.
when people say utility alot of the time they forget that high dmg output is a utility.
if every 1 is just “utility” in a group buff sense the boss would take an age to take down.
main issue is ofc bad thiefs who dont dodge and decided to go glass cannon as MELEE, you can get away with ranged class cannon as all u need to do is avoid red circles, but if u go melee u have to be able to take a hit and not die.
we can also strip boons with melee and spec for it etc and give nice group boons at the cost ofour own dmg output. besides if uw ant group boons a warrior with a few shouts and banner is perfect + a thief = great synergy. but then alot of pug warrior are 5 signet gs noobs

what i want to know is
why do warriors have 19.5k hp naked at lvl 80
but
thief and ele have 10.8k hp naked at 80,
could you perhaps for PVE ONLY SIDE OF THINGS give all classes same base hp of say the warrior so that glass cannon thief and ele dont die when a boss farts in our direction. you can say dodge and move as much as you like.
we can only dodge so much and conditions / agony is a factor that was not taken into account for thief / ele base hp pools and for other lower hp pools.
so in short for PVE only and not SPVP or TPVP give every one same base hp so its atleast fair. because if a warriror in full beserker gear can have 19.5k hp why cant a thief or ele ?
and dont even mention WvWvW thats mostly large zergs vs zergs, if u end up being alone far away from other ppl and end up in 1v1 thats your fault no 1 elses so dont come crying to forums because u died in 1v1.
atleast having equal base health pools would make every 1 same playing field for pve and WvWvW (in terms of zerg fights ignore 1v1 in WvWvW its not made for 1v1 there)

where have we heard this before hmmmmm
this is why anet have banned addons, it destroys the game and makes it “best ppl only” and ruins it for ppl who just want to do the encounter with out worring about dps this dps that.
look what happend to WoW, first it was gear score now its Ilvl (built into character panal) and ofc a dps requirement for a raid / dungeon thats far over the top.
yes i would like a dmg meter to see how my glass cannon thief does, but to be honnest id rather not have it, as all i have to do is look at my screen and see all the lovely red numbers on my screen to know im pounding the boss to dust.
oo and about agro. when doing plinx chain event and the champ spawns at the end, that guy refuses to let go of agro on 1 person.
example, i use my thief and play P/P glass cannon,
i know for a fact its only a matter of time before he locks onto me and wont leave me alone, even if he kills me and a player resses me he suddonly turns around and comes right for me even if i didnt shoot him after ressing.
even stealthing has no affect on that nasty ugly thingy.
so some wierd agro system to stop certain builds / gear from standing still and nukeing, or he really really hates asura thiefs !

when i saw the name “vampiric strike” i thought it would be a life stealing ability. as that is what life stealing abilitys are “vampiric”.

nothing wrong with P/P unload crit spec. very high dmg at 900 range with omnom and signet of malice. very high hit volume = very high health return.
vital shot and body shot sucks but 10k + unloads is not somthing to scoff at !
