I’ve gotten over 30 kills in one game, and my transient party was like lolwatnecromancer? even though the profession obviously doesn’t matter. As long as one person is trying to get the crystal running achievement, they’ll score your team points, so you can focus on grabbing the fire aspect and just killing everyone you come across.

Don’t push people off, that’s just silly. It’s also annoying when people run off the edge to deny you kills. Just use your blind, the black hole and then autoattack to death; because of the blind, fire aspect can hold up against 2v1.

AND THEN they will rewrite all the personal stories involving her and now emo!Logan, and then redo all the story-mode dungeons that have Logan in them because now he’s emo!Logan. Meanwhile instead of Queen Jennah ArenaNet will try to perform some sort of ‘bromantic’ non-heteronormative discourse between Rytlock and Logan and they ride off into the sunset together in that Charr humvee that the Norn stole in the personal story when s/he got completely sloshed.

Had trouble with CoF P3 when I did it for dungeon master because, as you can guess, no one’s done it before so coordinating the torches with no voice communication was hell.

And then everyone brought their zerker warriors so it was just insta-fail for the 5 waves. Swapped out to guardian and it was just fine. The final boss is basically fought on a small island surrounded by lava and periodically he will run back to the centre and do this annoying shockwave thing, so it takes ages if your party opts to range from the narrow bridge.

I think it’s only a problem because people don’t run it so they don’t know when to disengage and retreat back to the little bridge thing, and then they get knocked into the lava and they’re like well OBVIOUSLY this means I must use my rifle. If more people run it and know what they’re doing, the path is actually not so bad.

Planning on changing my mesmer’s sex to female since obviously the only armour they care about are the ones on female models. Does anyone have screenshots of a Sylvari female scholar sporting Phoenix armour by any chance?

If you were responsible for making this decision on whether to refund recent purchases, how would you define ‘recent’? Someone who has the infusion for 6 days 23 hours 59 minutes gets a refund, someone who has the infusion for 7 days 0 hours 1 minute doesn’t get a refund – where is a fair ‘cut off point’ for ‘recent’?

If it was ‘recent’ as in after they released the whole ‘where this game is going for the rest of 2013’, you should have known that they were changing the dungeon reward system.

Are you going to delete all the extra gold you have obtained through the gold find infusion in the days/weeks/months you had the infusion equipped?

I don’t think it’s bugged, you probably just failed the DPS check. When I ran P4 I thought it was bugged too since we just couldn’t get her down past 50% for about half an hour, and then I told the Sparks runner to bugger off and did it myself even though I was doing 2nd highest DPS output in the party. After about 6 runs or so we broke past the 50% mark and whittled her down to death.

You don’t seem to get it. Let me explain again.

In terms of real money vs. purchasing power within the game, the ration will always be “unfavorable” for you, unless you consider items that are fixed price in-game (for example Icy Runestones). It is quite certain that at some point, you will get 40g for 800 gems, but at that point prices have again inflated so that when purchasing stuff from the TP, your 800 gems will buy you the same amount of stuff it will get you right now.

If you scroll up and read, I’m the one who explained purchasing power by using the 2 years down the line analogy someone else mentioned, so I understand perfectly what you mean. What I’m saying is that I’m sure I’m not the only one who is not satisfied with the current purchasing power level, so to speak, so people with this ‘what?! 3g for 100 gems is outrageous!’ mentality are only going to see the exchange rate work against their favour.

It kind of clearly says that “A single character may modify their appearance settings for height, physique, skin colour, markings, face, hair, even gender.” It doesn’t say a name change is included in the package.

As the people above have mentioned, if you go to a plastic surgeon to Michael Jackson your face, your name is still Michael Jackson. You need to undergo a separate legal process to change your name. As such the makeover kits and the name change contracts are separate.

If you’re wanting the absolute fastest/easiest paths for each dungeon, they are: AC P3, CM P3, TA Up, SE P1, CoF P1, HotW P1, CoE P1, Arah P3.

The absolute longest/slowest dungeons you would avoid (assuming typical skips, not assuming exploits) are CM P2, TA F/U, CoF P3, Arah P4. In your average PuG, the first three typically take longer than 30 minutes, and Arah P4 can take over 90 minutes. Obviously co-ordinated guild runs/DPS parties will do them faster.

Paths that have not been mentioned are OK to do, but you probably won’t end up farming them as frequently as those paths mentioned above.

It’s a mix and match I think but I recognise pieces of the Invader armour (WvW/PvP armour), like the hood and the pants. The top and shoes are from karma vendors in level 40~60 zones like Bloodtide Coast and Iron Marches.

There was a thread up when the patch just kicked in, and the conclusion was to use master/mystic salvage kits which will yield around 1.8 dusts per ecto. Black Lion kits don’t give substantially more dusts to warrant the cost of the kit, and journeyman and lower kits give significantly less dust to the point where you’re losing money rather than breaking even.

If we do get undead turrets, it should look like those Risen Hands that are so awesome chucking rocks every 5 seconds.

Yeah, I had a 250 stack yesterday. I camped the Evon booth for what felt like hours.

This needs to happen not just for support tokens but for things like lost orrian jewellery boxes when we’ve stocked up 1 million+ karma to go open them, and those annoying karma test tubes that give only 400 karma that comes out of those boxes, or spikeroot fruits for CoE, or anything else where we might conceivably need to buy more than 100 of.

Your ideas sound pretty cool, but I just have a feeling that the Thaumanova fractal will not be too different from the Harpy one, which is just meh.

And regardless of which fractal comes out, the FotM community is just going to do the same. Bully the mesmer in the party to blink and portal to avoid second harpy run, take the shortest route possible in Ascalon fractal, stand on the scaffold for Rabsovich, swap to Decorative Stunt Ranger #641 to speargun Mossman from underwater, stack on Archdiviner for last seal…

Sorry but if you’d just went off on your own killing chickens without asking if the others mind/telling the party anything, I would have kicked you as well. If you want the chickens achievement you can roll Ascalon fractal on FotM level 1 by yourself and do it solo without holding back the rest of the group.

If you expect your party members to show you some respect, then you first ought to show them some respect as well.

I didn’t do the giant farm for more than an hour in total – it was kind of boring – but now that no one’s there, you might have a hard time opening that dungeon on your own.

Please don’t bring ‘healing’ anything to FotM. The less damage you do > the longer the fight > the more opportunities that people miss a dodge > the higher the chance of DPS zerker people actually pulling their weight going down > the higher the chance of party wipe.

The only exceptions to this are things like using a hammer if you have a couple of warriors in your party. Its damage output is not as good as sword or greatsword, but the permanent protection forces them into melee which is higher DPS output for them, and then when you’re all in range you can use your F2s and F3s and Save Yourselves to cleanse conditions when needed to keep them alive. Or using a staff when you need to range for whatever reason – line of warding can mitigate burst damage from ascalonian warriors in that particular fractal for example, and you can stack might/heal for the rest of the party. That is the only kind of ‘support’ you should be giving (and of course, wall of reflection/shield of the avenger when needed). Don’t otherwise trait for ‘healing’ or wear your rubbish cleric gear – save that for WvW/PvP.

I wouldn’t team up with two light armours and a ranger for FotM 48, but thankfully I’ve only ever seen one person who was silly enough to invest all that time and resources into getting a ranger up that high.

For FotM 20 it shouldn’t matter, I agree. But as Neko said, melee tend to go down a lot more than ranged, so it’s not indicative of his skill (or lack thereof) that he’s downed. If he’s meleeing and running tanky instead of zerker gear, it’s likely that Mossman is aggroed on him for 80% of the battle. If Mossman unstealths next to you because you’re not experienced enough to watch the minimap icon and swings his axe, it’s one hit KO (at least, in 48 it is, I haven’t done 20 in eons).

That said, it’s a poor attitude to come to low level fractals with. You can do any fractal under level 40 with any class composition in your party and being selective about who’s in your party shouldn’t be encouraged so early on.

Yeah and I’ve spent over 20,000 gems on RNG boxes to get at least one skin from each event. If you’re not willing to part with the money, I think now that you can buy the skins with gold, you should convert your gems to gold instead. Most of us have no sympathy for people who say “I played RNG and I’m angry that I didn’t win the game”.

Yeah, I get like between 20~30 points per game. I thought the achievement was only 200 points since tier 2 was 100 lol. Not going to touch this minigame again since I’d rather waste gold WPing around Ascalon to get 20 events. GG ANet.

Dragon Jade skins are still available I think (from coffers) and also the new ones, Aetherised weapons from either black lion chest tickets or as a rare drop from candidate trials. If you get it from candidate trials you have to use a transmutation crystal, but if you get a skin from the black lion chest then you can just apply it straightaway.

I got 10 scraps out of 50 or 51 Black Lion Chests (bought 30 keys, the remainder were from world completion), but RNG is RNG and it’s not really a valid complaint to say the equivalent of you played the lottery and didn’t win. I think most of us who were happy to throw money at it were doing it for the lols, just to see what the drop rates were like, and we have expendable income. You really ought to know after opening ten chests that ticket scraps aren’t going to be raining from the heavens, which would have only been 900 gems, and you could have used the rest of the gems to convert to gold for your skin.

Knowing ANet they’d probably use stuff that’s already being used for a boatload of other things, like ectos or T6 dust or lodestones.

As someone who has spent hundreds of dollars on gems (and will continue to do so), I can tell you that the gem > gold exchange rate is still too low to make it worth it, so there are plenty of people like me who won’t convert gems to gold and just use the gems for expansion slots and RNG boxes and whatever else is on sale. A reasonable rate for me would be around 5g per 100 gems. Right now if we were to convert gems to gold we’d get a little over half that, around ~2.7g per 100 gems. $10 would get me a little less than 22g, which is what, the price of 8 charged lodestones? Lolol no thanks.

The gold price for gems will continue to rise until such time as us real money spenders see it’s worth it to convert gems to gold.

Maybe you’re just looking at gw2lfg.com at bad times, but I run CoE almost everyday and while I usually post LFM, I have no trouble joining a group that’s forming up, whether it be just a P1 run or all paths.

Don’t worry, once they nerf the CoF P1 farm you’ll see a hell of a lot more CoE P1-2-3 posts.

I can see where the confusion is coming from reading the blog post, but what I think it means is that the crafted ascended weapons and armour can be bought/sold on the TP, but the ones that you get as mob loot are account-bound.

Those are really interesting suggestions and while I’d love to see some of them in the game, there are already dozens of people QQing over the current state of the dungeon. If you actually make it so that players have to actually learn to dodge, the outcry from people who don’t bother using the search function would push all the sensible posts to the second page of the forum.

It’s not a hard dungeon if you bring a bit of DPS, know how to jump and know when to dodge – which, by the way, would describe most dungeon runs. If it took you longer than an hour to do it the first time, please go back to your 1112 F1 1112 F1 CoF runs. It’ll spare the rest of us from having to carry the CoFers.

Refusing to retrait/swap weapons/use different armour for a dungeon is like saying “I need to get from Los Angeles to London, but I refuse to buy a plane ticket. Why won’t you let me use my horse to get there?”

You were given 5 trait lines and 70 points to spend anywhere you like for a reason. You were given at least half a dozen weapons which you can swap around before going into the fight for a reason. You can swap out your skills anytime before engaging in combat for a reason.

If you are dying over and over again and the team wipes trying to res you, the problem is not the dungeon. The problem is you.

After I patched (it takes a long time on my 30kbps connection), I got out my credit card, went to the gem store and started looking for RNG boxes to open for weapon tickets.

Seriously? Has no one at ANet noticed the hype about the rapier and the revolver?

I’ve never come across an ele in WvW using scepter. Most are staff (who do more than just press 5 and change attunements, by the way – you’re doing it wrong if that’s all you’re doing) and the remaining few are d/d.

But back on topic, DT doesn’t hit all that hard (especially when people are running PVT) and it’s so slow. I can burst down an ele from the beginning of the animation to when the tooth actually drops. Why would you complain about the one situation where DT could be even remotely useful?

I run FotM 48 on my guardian with the standard 0/0/30/30/10 traits. Most of the time I run GS and scepter/focus, but you definitely need at bare minimum a staff, greatsword, scepter, focus and shield in your inventory. Optional to bring mace, sword, torch and hammer.

The best shouts to run in my opinion are Save Yourselves, Stand Your Ground and Retreat. Stability will come in handy in multiple situations and since your hammer already gives protection, Hold the Line just isn’t as useful.

For some encounters you will need different skills. Wall of Reflection/Shield of the Avenger for example are good for harpies when they start knocking you back in FotM 10+, also good for Bloomhunger in swamp, archers in ascalon, shaman in grawl, etc. I’d keep Save Yourselves and Retreat and just swap in whatever you need at the time.

The Svanir fractal you’ll need stability, so you’d want Hallowed Ground, Stand Your Ground and Retreat.

I really recommend you keep Retreat. Map-wide agony hits like a truck for the final hammer boss and for the dredge mining suit, and the party-wide aegis can mean the difference between barely making it out alive if people dodge at the wrong time and instant wipe.

Best to keep Renewed Focus; you will need a Tome for 48 for the full heal or party wipe at Jade Maw, even with 45 AR, but for almost every other situation Renewed Focus is better.

However, all this is really only for 48. Honestly, anything up to level 38 is fairly easy so don’t worry too much about it. Just try out fractals first and you’ll learn much better than anything we can tell you.

Most people want superior smothering for 10% damage against flame legion or whatever it is, but superior smothering is kind of useless outside of CoF. My zerker warrior is pretty much used for CoF only so I don’t mind since I main a guardian, but it will become an expensive exercise to keep swapping out your sigils every time you want to run CoF with a bunch of morons.

The only suggestions I have are the tried and true ones – run with your guild or make your own post. ‘LF4M CoF P1 anyone welcome’ will fill up almost instantly.

I think it’s time for us moletariats to rise up against our oppressors and protest against this injustice.

First of all, those groups aren’t worth joining because despite the fact that they can burst down all the bosses very quickly, there’s usually one or two idiots in the party who either must tell you how to do everything (thus slowing the run down) or they’re just there to farm and are really rude anyways. By the time you wait to assemble an ‘optimal’ farming party, you could have joined a party that might have taken two minutes longer but has party members who are actually there to play GW2, and not play Chinese Gold Farmer.

Secondly if they say ‘ping gear’, they mean everything, so press shift+click on all your armour, your accessories and your weapons. For those ‘speed farm’ whatever groups you should be in full zerker exotics with exotic/ascended zerker accessories + ruby orbs, and greatsword/axe+mace. Everyone in the party except the Mesmer obviously is running the exact same combination. If you ping one or two pieces, get ready to be insta-kicked.

There are enough of these idiots around. Please save yourself and a section of the GW2 community by just running CoF P1 with normal people.

I just installed it. I was wondering if there’s a way to put in your progress rather than check boxes, like I have 200 crystalline dusts, but the check boxes are kind of all-or-nothing. I wouldn’t know if I had to farm another 50 dusts or 250 without checking my bank.

Also is there a way to have like little goals? Like double tap on a check box or whatever it gets changed to to say I’m working towards this one now.

I usually do 48 and it takes maybe 4 shuttles of bombs. I’m a guardian though and I usually swap to PVT gear for the bomb/cannon part (let’s face it, most of us use MF gear for Dredge), so I don’t really understand the concept of suicide run lol. Just depends on what kind of party you end up with. Stealth and speed boost makes the entire thing a joke.

But if you suicide in a bad comp you can do it in 2 or 3 runs of bombs. You can use stealth and swiftness but it just takes longer and most people don’t want to add time on an already long fractal.

Suiciding is honestly fine as a tactic but if dredge is your second fractal and you intend to do your third fractal not naked, you’d rather do an extra bomb run and save your armour (unless, do people take off their armour to do suicide runs?)

That said, it’s the reason why I run PVT gear on my guardian for ‘harder’ dungeons like Arah and FotM 40+. If I want damage, I’d bring my zerker warrior along. If I want to make sure that we don’t wipe 20 times because one person in the party is made of paper and can’t dodge to save their lives – literally – then my PVT guardian draws aggro while the zerker whatevers can do their DPS.

I think Knights might be better for this Job BTW, the 4 things that draw agro are

*Proximity
*High Toughness
*Damage
*Low Vitality

So swapping out some of your Vitality for Precision will improve 2 of these 4 criteria. So things will stick to you even better.

I find that it’s a lot easier to res people in PVT than in PPT though; occasionally if you want to swoop in and save someone downed while you’re still holding aggro, either aegis is on cooldown or your other blocks can’t absorb all the damage you’ll get. But I agree, outside of ‘harder’ dungeons PPT is great. I don’t see why OP has to bandwagon on the zerker train if he doesn’t want to.
