Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
The main issue would be how to balance them.
Quite a few of the dungeons require dodging and such to survive.
So either the henchmen would be OP and manage every dodge, or they would be useless and die to every single AoE.
That doesnt make sense, since when u are hitting with range(1200) attack they will follow you..
Indeed, but you need to keep moving while attacking them.
Don’t stand around taking hits and you won’t die.
And yet my server have won against FR servers several times, even without active “night-capping” teams.
“Night-capping” will not win a fight. Around the clock capping will.
The “night-capping” time is after all way shorter than the rest of the day, so if a server caps everything every night they would most likely still end up losing, unless they had massive coverage also during the “days”.
Here’s a simple fix:
Make it so that points earned depend on the number of enemies on the battlefield.
Easier targets should mean less points.
But does that really fix the issue?
Why should people that can only play outside prime-time be less useful than those that can play at anytime?
Alright, the OP clearly showed that he is simply a troll, so I would suggest stop responding to him.
Wait… a recipe is being given out to “special” people? When none of us even knew the recipe existed? Wow, there’s some crazy right there. So now we’re supposed to buy whatever RNG boxes are offered because some mystery gift might be given to us later?
Anet’s getting worse on the whole being upfront with the customers.
No, the recipe is being given out to people that bought a RNG box that clearly stated that there was a chance to get a recipe (the recipe was however not in said box until the update yesterday and therefor EVERYONE that bought a RNG box before yesterdays update will get the recipe mailed to them.)
So, whats wrong with using WPs?
I personally uses them daily when I got to LA.
So.. which are the changes that have been made without telling us in the patch notes?
And do we know that they are actual changes rather than bugs?
arah I can do in a few hours I been at this for 13 hours
So, you could do Arah in “a few hours” the first time you did it?
read the post first entirely before you make bad commands, they made server regions for a reason, they can join other regions where they can play in then, it is that simple, ofc NA servers should get other times to close but you can play there if you are not from EU and can only play while EU servers are closed, same for NA players who are only available for wvw when it is night there, they can go EU.
I did read the first post.
Server regions are made because of where the data-centers are place (the EU in Germany and the NA somewhere in the US), and since everyone is allowed to join any server we can’t really lock certain people out of a major part of the game.
What if I have all my friends in the US and join a NA server? I live in Europe so when I play it would be night in the US and I would be locked out from WvW (which is what I play about 90% of the time when I play) is that really a good thing?
What about the Spanish servers? They have both people from EU (Spain) and NA (South American) or the FR servers? Both France and Canada speaks French.
And the issue still stands that people actually have lives and do work, which could mean that they would never be able to play WvW because they can’t play until it is closed down for the night.
Punishing everyone just because your server don’t have night coverage is quite silly.
this is no where near arah arah is cake compared to it
I take that as a no
So, when did the earth become flat?
I am quite sure that it is not flat, and therefore night will be different for different parts of the world.
What about people that lives on the other side of the world?
Their middle of the day is our night. Should they not be allowed to play WvW?
What about people that work and can only play at nights? Should they be banned from doing WvW aswell (unless they start skipping work?)
I don’t get why. I could understand how hard it was if the dungeon was permanent but we have 2 weeks. Does anyone know why a dungeon that has 2 weeks is harder then dungeons that have been there for months?
Have you completed Arah Explorable?
And it could be seen as P2W, IF the food that it made was also account/soulbound, this is however NOT the case, so I don’t really see the issue.
Would be quite weird, since that kind of angel does not exist in Tyria so it wouldn’t make much sense.
And yet they still seems to get new people more or less daily, and the influx of people during the organized trial weekends seems to be quite high. So clearly it works.
The thing is: If they allowed people to give people trials at all time it could hurt the game much more than not allowing it.
So basically making Warriors extremely OP?
That is a laughable reason to not implement something like this, They could limit the amount of invites to friends to 1 or 2 at a time or 1 or 2 a month.
The spammers may be an issue yes but they would restrict chat just like any other trial accounts on any MMO.
The fact is simple and a fact, they are hurting themselves and their game by not allowing people to promote the game to their friends in such a way.
I have not played in months because I have no friends to play with, my friends don’t want to buy a game they haven’t tried out. Its a vicious cycle.
Alright, lets say I “hack” 10 accounts, that means I can invite 10-20 spammers/bots even with those restrictions.
Restricting chat enough to stop them would most likely make the game-play for the trial quite boring and turn people from the game rather than help.
And those spammers and gold-sellers might hurt the game even more.
They have trials, they just don’t want people to be able to invite people at any time, which is quite logical.
Whos to say it would be Unlimited? It could be a 3 day trial just as long as the weekend events. The upside being that the person starting the trial could do so at their own leisure and when they know they have 3 days of free time to try it out.
My one friend didn’t finish the game download until late Saturday night in Nov and had to work Sunday, leaving him about 2 hours of game time to try out the game. This turned him off from the company Arena Net.
I bought the game for 54.99 the day of release, it is now 49.99. That is still $50 the most that price reduction did was remove the tax.
Allowing Trials to anyone (As in Open Trials) is something else entirely than what im suggesting, I say a refer a friend code, simply allowing a account holder to email an invite to a friend for a few days, letting said friend start his game time when HE/SHE is available to do so.
Honestly its not that complicated is it?
I talked about unlimited as in available at all times.
The main issue is still that it can (and will) be abused.
What if someone gets there account hacked and then invites a high amount of spammers/botters/whatevers with their friend-invites?
Sure they will be banned, but is it really worth it?
When they have specific weekends it is on the other hand much easier to handle stuff like that, since at those times they know that potential “fake”-accounts and such would be created.
Understandable, but having this rather unlimited trial would also present issues, unless they added heavy restrictions on the players using the trial, which might be the reason as to why they don’t have a constant trials available.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the game did lower its price permanently a month or so ago.
They also had a weekend in April (19-21) where people could play for free, so they seems to have them now and then.
The food itself does currently cost around 30 silver. That is not really expensive, and that is just a few hours after they became available.
It’s not pay to win in a serious manner, but it does leave a bitter taste in my mouth because I know this is where the future of GW2 lies. Every new piece of content revolves around a pay gate, and if you can’t pay, then no new content for you.
Acount bound recipes, bleh.
So… which update have required you to pay to access it?
As far as I am aware (and I have played since head-start) there has ALWAYS been (the vast majority no less) of the content in each patch available without ever even opening the TP.
Hmm? Is the recipes confirmed to be Account Bound?
ye I use condition duration food myself, but whats going to happen to standard raw stat boosting food now? omnomberry bread anyone? don’t think so
That still doesn’t explain the whole “P2W” you keep shouting about.
So, what else can they actually be?
Most (if not all) “quests” are variations of the very same basic objectives (kill, gather, find more or less).
And unless the food is, for some reason, account/soulbound I really don’t see the issue.
Everyone will be able to buy the food from the TP, not just those that have the recipe.
I only hate that they let them play the game but don’t let me play it. Can’t do anything than boring PvE bullkitten. Why take WvW not down 2 minutes before the patch? If they can let the others do PvE until 2 minutes before the patch it should also be possible for WvW. A lot of the balance changes and patch stuff affects PvE and still possible to play it…
They should treat everyone equal.
Because most patches does effect WvW in some way and therefore they need to prepare the WvW servers and save the points before starting the patching?
I am personally more or less a full-time WvW:er as well, so I understand what you are saying, but it is quite logical. We might lose out of points because of the servers not updating and saving if they shut it down 3 minutes before a patch and so on.
Probably the Halloween and Wintersday dungeons being referred to.
True.
But then again the Wintersday was also available in all the other main cities as well.
I was wondering too, with all the discussion about the “Leaked Patch Notes” I wanted to see the real notes for myself so I kept checking.
last patch the notes were posted 3 days prior if I remember correctly
Either way it is what it is – people are just anxious to see the changes because all of teh changes to traits, etc -
No.
The earliest patch notes that have been posted have been on the same day, usually just a few hours before.
Always posted after the patch is live.
Incorrect.
They notes have always been posted at least an hour or so before the patch goes live (not counting hot-fixes and such)
There already is a split between PvP, WvW and PvE skills. And since we have not actually seen the patch notes yet I would suggest waiting until we have them before we assume that all changes are PvE/PvP/WvW or if the are split.
Sometime today.
Personally I think it is a rather good idea to post it like this, since that means those of us that were not there at that every instant can see it and avoid commanders like that.
And how do you know people did not PM the commander in question?
how is teaming up with another server exploiting anything pls do explain
Teaming up with another server to farm WXP and Karma by continuously changing ownership of a keep? I would say that is quite exploity.
And what was the reason for them not doing it then?
“I am not.
As soon as Guild Wars 2 stops making money NCSoft can decide to shut it down.”So why is GW1 still running? Didn’t GW1 stop making profit around the last stages of GW2 development? NCsoft doesn’t fully own Anet. Why would there be an Anet to begin with? NCsoft is a publisher.
GW1 is running on life-support, with all future development shut down. GW1 was/is also tied to GW2.
NCSoft does indeed fully own ArenaNet.
ArenaNet was bought by NCSoft in 2002, three years before they released GW1
Sadly, I think that making you look bad was the point of the post, dunno why tho. Anyone who was there yesterday knows that this never took place as it shows in this screenshot of the chat.
Does it really matter though?
The fact that he is even talking about doing it is bad enough.
There are only 3 people on the current Anet team that worked on GW1. All the others left for other companies or flat out quit.
Really?
Were did you get that number?
I am rather sure that quite a few of the blog-posters worked on GW1 as well, and there are quite a bit more than 3 of them.
There is currently ONE out of NINE dungeons that have their entrances in Lions Arch. So I don’t really understand what you mean with “dungeon entrances are in LA too!”
Oh, so just because it is a city it should be immune to attacks?
The actual attacks on LA have made quite a bit of sense (such as the Karka following the Consortium to LA and therefore attacked and so on)
Ok colin, thanks, … but in january, you told us that fractal and precursor quest will be “soonly”
Now we are in june, and you told us again “soonly” …. worst, now you say “end of the year” …
You can’t imagine how is our disappointment when we see every month some temporary content, again and again, instead of what you promise at the beginning of the year …
Actually they have been quite clear with the fact that they are LOOKING at precursor quests but not actively working on creating one, they have also said quite a few times that new Fractals is coming but it will take time and is not something actively worked on at this (that?) time.
There are still characters around that were around back when the Personal Nemesis was talked about
It isn’t mounts. I want just usual horse! I think my warrior with greatsword not looks too good on broom…
Horses seems to be extinct on main-land Tyria though.
It is quite unlikely that it is the servers that are the problem. It would most likely rather be the actual connection to the server, and that is quite a bit more complex than just “stop being cheap on servers”
Really looking forward to reading this book. Ordered it yesterday, so should get it tomorrow I believe.
And what about the people who paid $60 for the game ? Didn’t they support the game for future content as well?
Would Anet drive itself into debt until release, hoping that millions of players would buy the game? I could tell you all about profit:consumer’s price. For example, for every $60 from consumer Anet profits $25. You act like Anet has millions of employees and the whole west coast to take care of. NCsoft get its cut.
I’m pretty sure Anet is in the black for a while because of initial box sales. Those who put lots of money into the gemstore just feeds Anet’s greed.
You mean everyone that have played the game for more than a month?
No, they basically helped repay the cost of making the game in the first place.
ArenaNet had very little money for developing GW2 (GW1 haven’t really generated much income for quite some time as far as we know) and was given money by NCSoft, generated by their other games, to develop and complete it.
No, for every $60 ArenaNet profits $0. ArenaNet does not have millions of employees, but they do have quite a few, and so does NCSoft (who fully own ArenaNet).
I am not.
As soon as Guild Wars 2 stops making money NCSoft can decide to shut it down.
Did their pet try to rez them?
It isn’t even out yet and everything is already known? The amount of spoilers this time is ridiculous.
So.. who forces you to look at the wiki-pages?
The actual page for the release have very few, if any, spoilers.
This isn’t GW1, where you stand still and soak up damage.
Indeed, and situation where you can just stand still is those that reward zerkers the most.
So if these bosses makes it more or less impossible to stand still at all zerkers would most likely be at a disadvantage.
here comes lordkrall!
zerker is still the best way to kill the bosses fast because if you can stay alive you’ll be able to outDPS any other set of armor/gear out there.
Exactly, “if you can stay alive”. That is the main thing here.
What makes people so sure that they will be able to stay alive long enough in zerker gear to kill the bosses?
