Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
But truthfully, i wouldn’t be too surprised if this was one-time only and was being poorly announced, since this event has been full of holes. (Connection issues, people getting achievements before due time, the lack of synchronicity and/or a in-game timer of the fireworks thing, etc.)
You do know that every single one-time event have been clearly marked as such, right?
Heck even the weekend fireworks were clearly marked with dates.
Skins should be the reward for either high skill (for mmo standards) or high amount of effort. That is the system gw1 was running. GW2 stretched that but it should basically be the same. But the way they seem to go now is more and more RNG+Cash Shop for skins.
Ah yes, doing the same dungeon 10000000000 times hoping to get that special weapon skin had soooo much to do with high skill or high amount of effort
I like it.
Not much of a musician myself, but happy for those that likes to play a bit.
Downscaling.
You are getting your level adjusted downward when you visit lower-level parts of the map.
That does depend on the player.
The easiest way is to simply read the release notes and see if something is of interest to you.
Make that on kills only and wvw players will get as much as pve players.
MF already is on kill only.
And no WvW players won’t get close to as much as a PvE player.
I’d certainly hope not.
Still nothing on the official Twitter feed. Nothing on Facebook either. I now have friends sitting online just to see if anything happens. I suppose I’ll just have to get up at 3 or 4am before work to check.
It is however quite clear on the official page that it will NOT be 18th only, since is quite clearly says BEGINS, not takes place, not available only.
A simple and elegant reward would be giving +10-20% MF and/or gold for a whole week to each person having the winning server as home, no matter where they are (on the server, in wvw, guesting, etc.)
Wouldn’t really make much sense though. Especially since people in WvW don’t really benefit that much from it, while people that run and farm dungeons would benefit the most, even if they have never even entered WvW.
Yeah I also missed out due to work being crazy for the holiday weekend. I tried to get on for it but I just missed it. I think A-Net would be awesome if they gave us one more weekend to close out the acheivement
And what if people were away for a week or two?
They would miss it next weekend as well, so then they would have to get it up the weekend after that as well, and the weekend after that and the weekend after that and so on.
There will ALWAYS be people that miss out on stuff, which is also the main reason why they won’t really change their schedule for stuff like this.
The constant whining about every single thing.
Well this topic was supposed to be a fun way of sharing ideas. Not harping on ideas. I know that a lot of what I say won’t become a reality. But this thread is solely based on the sharing of interesting ideas. And at that note, you, Sir, are out of line. I am going to ask a GM to close this thread because we are now completely off topic. There is no fun in that.
You do seem to misunderstand the point of this part of the forum though.
It is a LORE-forum not a suggestion forum. Lore is something that we for most part KNOW about and therefore incorrect usage of the lore will be shot down, simple as that really.
People are saying that they want those who PAID for something to support the game to have something from it.
And who CARES if everyone has something? It’s the FoTM Effect … just like how EVERYONE had SAB skins. Now, where are these people? Oh,right … they mostly moved on to other looks and weapons. These things are temp trends and collectibles.
I kinda love this strange mentally. Screw over your paying fan-base so that others can feel THAT MUCH better about being lucky enough to open the right coffer at the right time to get a Jade Ticket. “Because when I see others with things I LIKE and own it makes me upset because I’m not a lil snowflake anymore.”
And I love the mentality that just because you pay for something you should be guaranteed to get what you want.
It is quite clearly a CHANCE to get something, nowhere does it say that you WILL get a ticket.
And just for your information I have spent quite a few gems (all bought with real money) on these Coffers, and yet you don’t see me complaining and shouting about the fact that I didn’t get a ticket from them.
The thing is: People WANT to have rare stuff. If suddenly everyone had this stuff it would no longer be rare, and that would most likely lead to less people actually buying the coffers with gems, since they would lose their main appeal.
So you’re saying that lions are mythical creatures in Tyria?
No, he is refuting your point that if they don’t exist they can’t be sculptured or painted, since quite clearly this does exist in the real world.
I do agree with the Luxon and Kurzick statement. I didn’t consider that Guild Wars 2 is in the future. But I don’t agree with the other two statements. First, the Monk and the Pargon are nothing like the guardian. Monks smite their foes and use retribution and such. The type of Monk I was referring to, however, is a more Eastern Monk that uses a Pole in combat. Pargons use shouts to support their team and they attack with a spear and shield. They don’t really heal much at all. Now how are they remotely close to a guardian who uses heavy armor and acts more like a protective knight. Your argument about the Dervish is definitely invalid. And could you explain how the world PvP, IN CANTHA, goes against the “Lore” exactly? I would like to hear more about that. I have another question. Have you played Guild Wars 1 at all?
It is not much of a statement, it is a fact. Nothing to agree with or not. We KNOW that the Kurzick and Luxon was defeated and forced into the Empire.
It has been quite clearly stated by the very developers of the game and its lore that Guardians were created by using the skills (as in combat styles and such, in lore) of Paragon refugees from Elona and Monks.
Guardians very much uses the very same type of skills as Paragons and Monks did (gameplay-wise) in GW1.
The whole Dervish profession is built around using the power of the human gods, who are 1: only actual used by the humans and 2: have gone missing.
The world PvP you talked about was built around the whole setting that there were two warring factions. That is no longer true, and it is rather (as far as we know) a possible fight against a tyrannic emperor if anything, and that would not really work well as world PvP, since we can’t really join the tyrannic emperor.
The whole setting of GW2 is about the races working together with each other to face greater threats. Putting World PvP in the middle of that wouldn’t really make any sense whatsoever.
I have played GW1 since a shortly after release of Prophecies, have you?
You seems to have missed the fact that the Kurzick and Luxon no longer exists, and haven’t done for a century or something like that.
As for new classes several of the classes you are talking about already exists or can’t exist.
Monks and Paragons exists in the Guardian, and Dervish wouldn’t really work since they have such a close connection to the gods.
As for open world PvP, that is extremely unlikely that they would ever add, since that goes against the whole lore of the game.
Lions exists (or at least existed) in Elona back in the days. Which was also the time when the original Lion’s Arch was built.
If they will make those armors available only for gems (so, cash) i will quit this game. I want to have access to whole game, and have oportunity to get all items by playing, not by spending my money on them.
If something like that would make you quit (you can get them without paying any cakitten all even if they are gem-store only btw) I would think that you might want to revalue why you play the game in the first place tbh.
Monks draw power from the bloodstones like other spellcasters, I don’t think this is related to the gods at all. Ofc they are related at some point, but only humans ans with this reason, mesmers and necros should have disappered as well. It is realted to the removal of healers. Face it :p
Mesmers and Necros didn’t really have much connection with the Gods though, while Monks and Dervish definitely did.
Tomorrow most likely.
You actually group up even if you don’t create a formal group though.
Do we hear many complaints about people accidentally selling their stuff to normal vendors?
No.
(Buyback option helps.)
Actually we do now and then.
Mechant Expresses can be used by bots too, so your point of time bypassing with bots is moot partwise, because these merchant/bank expresses can be also obtained via dailies as rewards
Indeed, but in most cases they would require purchasing by using gems, which would lessen the income for said bots and therefore the botters wouldn’t bother using it since their purpose is to maximize their income.
Of course the bots will simply wp/run/whatever to the merch to sell stuff. But that would require time. With this suggestion they would bypass that time-requirement and be much faster than they are now.
There also already ARE abilities to sell stuff out in the fields. They are called Merchant Express and are available in the gem store (which is does not require going to town since stuff is mailed to you)
Then that person deserves to lose all their candy. We’re talking about about items with large amounts of candies. Which can be cheaply bought on the TP now.
It’s not like they are dungeon tokens which takes quite a while to acquire 300 tokens for a weapon or such.
We’re talking about 5 candies for 1 food item. Of which you can easily reacquire more candies.
And yet these forums would be flooded with complains about losing out on candy because there were no confirmation.
As for the GVG and HA, anyone who ever played it seriously will admit that those modes were much more competitive and skill intensive than anything we have currently in GW2, both WvW and sPvP.
Ah yes, facing of with groups using the same setup over and over and over and over and over and over again on the same maps over and over and over again was not repetitive..
I think this would simply be a haven for bots and therefor not something that should be added to the game.
Everything that makes it easier for bots is a bad thing in my eyes.
And I quit WvW because of the repetitive and boring gameplay.
HA and GvG spvp modes were more skillful and enjoyable for my taste.
Oh the irony…..
No I was Commander.
I’ll give you the best 5 GW2 WvW players out there and match them against 20 mindless zergers and make them fight on a clear field. I wonder which side will win.
Being a commander have nothing to do with knowledge or experience in WvW.
Those 5 players could quite possibly win that fight.
WvW is a joke, assuming there are roles in WvW, it doesn’t even matter, the team with the biggest zerg will win anyway.
In PvE, it doesn’t matter what class you play, if you cant deal damage, you’re useless. Damage is everything.
Based on that comment I assume you have never actually played WvW?
that is exactly how guild wars 1 worked. titles were status symbols. you got a lot of them for actually not sucking.
I would disagree.
The only thing you needed for most titles in GW1 was simply a high amount of grinding, nothing about skill at all (unless we only count the PvP titles for some reason)
One of the main issues with this is the fact that transmutation stones and such are most likely one of the items that give them the highest amount of money in the gem-store. Removing the need for them would probably lower the income quite a bit.
Yea, you start a vanilla gw1 account and beat proph with hench only and then come back here and spout this kitten.
I actually did that back in the days. When you could only infuse one part of your armor per run and such. It was hard, but very much possible.
Looking better is of course a matter of opinion.
And no the only way to get them again is buying them in the gem-store.
lordkrall
I am a former Gw1 player and still do.“Guild Wars 2 takes everything you love about Guild War 1” ; those aren’t my word.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU1JUwPqzQYAnd again
Where?
I am also a former GW1 player (have played since a few months after release of Prophecies, which is why I could comment and refute all your points (which you funnily enough didn’t comment on..)
They took the lack of required grind (which didn’t really exist later on in GW1), they took the lore, they took they general mindset, they took the skill system (more or less) and so on. I would say they took what I loved from GW1 and put it (in most cases in a better way) in GW2.
As someone had already stated, Gw2 used Gw1` name to leech money in the gaming market.
There’s no Gw1 in Gw2, quite simple.
Once again,
Gw1 Never gave a classs Stealth to Monopolize the class and game balance.
Gw1 Never practiced Favoritism or Favored a class for the sake of Pride, Selfish Gain and Grandiosity.
Gw1 Never deleted threads or posts for the sake of the community opposition toward decision for certain class balances.
Gw1 Never Assaulted their players with Infraction for not agreeing with their views and their decisions on class balance.
Gw1 Never had server crashes and laggings on going for almost 1 year.
Gw1 Never ignored Balance mechanic for their classes.
Gw1 Never pitted classes over another class for the sake of Elitism and Pride
Gw1 devs and mods tried at their best in working with the community. concerns.
Someone had told me that there are still remaining Gw1 devs, designers and mods in Gw2; so i responded, “where”?
I than continued; if they’re here, they must’ve been psychological “brainwashed” by an Elitist and Selfish Organization because that’s what this game; Gw2 is all about.
-Favor for the Elitist classes and a designing Monopolize Stealth Thief class.
And if your class doesn’t fall in that category, than it it will be Prone to more nerfs.
Gw1 was a Legend on its own and always will be unto this day.
Indeed, they rather gave a class a skill called Shadowform instead, which was probably one of the most overpowered skills in the history of gaming.
Ehm, yes they did.
GW1 never had an official forums either, so that is really a moot point.
As said, no official forums.
Incorrect, there were quite a bit of lag and crashes form time to time. It is also quite unfair to compare the two since the server structure and game type are completely different.
Ahahahahahah, you never actually played GW1 did you?
^See this
As does the very same devs now working on GW2.
I would suggest taking off those rose-tinted glasses before responding to this thread.
2. GW1 is an mmo. In GW1 you always have to play with other people. There is no way around it (except for some solo farms). In GW2 you are basicly running around solo in an open world or you’re zerging something without even knowing who everyone is. So what’s the real mmo here?
Actually no.
GW1 is not an MMO. It is a CORPG. And in 95% of the game you never had to play with other people because of the henchmen and later on heroes.
Good luck trying to do the dungeons in GW2 on your own. (Or the big meta-events for that matter)
The main issues with heroes is 1: the game is an open world game, and it would be quite silly to have people running around with personal armies.
2: The active combat would make balancing the heroes more or less impossible. Either they won’t be able to dodge/move around and will die really fast. Or they would be able to dodge everything and be superior to regular players, which was a rather big issue in GW1 with interrupts and such (Heroes were vastly superior and more or less never missed an interrupt).
The community left in droves, or rushed to complete everything available before the launch of GW2. That means that it’s a barren wasteland for the most part now, and it’s receiving no new content updates either.
That was however the case since more or less before GW2 was even announced.
There is a permanent axe coming soonish as far as we know (it is in the dat-file).
I love how people on UW always blame the other servers for working together/hacking/cheating as soon as we take a beating instead of simply accepting that we aren’t invulnerable.
Which would make it completely uninteresting to a rather large amount of people, and they wouldn’t bother with spending a single gem on the coffers in the gem store.
People spend money on it because it will be a rarity. If everyone can get it by doing achievements or whatever it will no longer be a rarity, so people wouldn’t bother spending money.
what server the code is ran on does not influence it at all. I should also reiterate that when you don’t know what you’re talking about, don’t try to act like you do. Clearly didn’t make it through that thick skull of yours the first time.
Oh but it does. A live server and a test server is never identical and there can always be issues when adding something from one to the other. This is something everyone with any kind of programming knowledge is fully aware of.
Why else do you think that there are massive issues that suddenly turn up, even in software that have week-long tests and testing servers.
You can never fully emulate an actual live server, no matter how much time you spend.
You need to get your character to Fireheart Rise at least, since you need to be in the area where the dungeon is to join the dungeon.
lol…
GW1 had a holy trinity?
Tell me, where are the tanks?
GW1 trinity was healer, support, and damage.
GW2 trinity is support, damage, and utility.
Warriors, Elementalists, Dervish were all very much tanks.
Everyone have a fair opportunity at getting one.
You don’t even need to farm in order to get a kittenload of coffers, they drops from literally everything. Simply playing the game as usual should probably net you 50 coffers or something like that per day without much issue.
They are also buyable for a few silvers each on the TP.
Yes, because they someone would come here and whine about by mistake trading all their candy for the wrong thing.
So, you basically want a special skin that everyone would have?
For all the people who complain about the rarity of the item there are people that would complain just as much if everyone was running around with their rare skins.
OK I havent bought any rich coffers but they are a disrepectful element and a lottery and as they can be bought with diamonds in turn bought by cash I would think Anet or NCSoft are sailing close to the window on real life gambling rules and restrictions.
They aren’t.
Since gems hold no monetary value.
The thing is that they should, unless absolutely mandatory, never hunt down “criminals” by punishing legit players as well.
As it is, the system is punishing legitimate players quite a lot… Really think they should reconsider some of their choices in this area.
That is very true.
But on the other hand it takes quite some work to get the DR or the other systems to actually punish you.
I have played the game daily since head-start and I have yet to trigger a single one of these systems. The fact that people that act like bots are hurt by a anti-bot measure is quite logical and not much can be done about it.
