OMG everything is behind RNG, ArenaNet sucks!
OMG I have to work to get guaranteed stuff ArenaNet sucks!
This about sums up the people on this forums..
Quick! How do I get these achievements before they remove them!
You probably can’t get them yet, hence why they are removing them
Seems to be something about collecting stuff at various places though (WvW, JPs, Mini-dungeons.. )
Hmm… precursor Scavenger hunt..?
Where is the rocks? ^^
Okay this is a cool touch. Depending on who you log in on, you get a different mail about the event. I logged in on a Sylvari and got a mail from Caithe. My wife logged in on an Asura and got a mail from Zojja.
I love stuff like that.
Aye, my Charr got “New Order” from Rytlock
I’m thinking centaurs or an earth ele. They’re not going to give us a full dragon for free.
A dragon turning up != fighting a Dragon.
We actually KNOW that a Dragon is waking up (based on Arah Explorable) so it is fully possible that they will actually show us the actual awakening and/or set the stage for it.
Aye, saw that yesterday as well and came to the same conclusion.
New rock formation in Gendarran fields, and no information beyond that mention… anyone else curious?
this,anyone?
/char
I am thinking Elder Dragon..
Indeed, I am starting to think that the Dragon Bash might end with the awakening/appearance of an Elder Dragon..
Content is content even if you don’t like it.
Ok so the drop rate will be better….its still RNG and Anet seam obsessed with RNG< which is just frustrating. RNG forclovers, RNG for precursors, RNG for weapon skins, its annoying.
They’d get a decent amount of money just sellign the damm tickets.
Decent < Good
ArenaNet have never been to E3 and most likely never will be. Simply because they feel that E3 is for the companies rather than the public and therefore feel that they rather spend their time and money on conventions that focus on the public.
Not here in Belgium mate :P
There are different kinds of taxes. The tax in question here is most likely a combination of import-tax and VAT.
Sounds about right yeah. That is a rather usual number for taxes.
Because of taxes, simple as that.
The inflation in the game is already getting annoying. This wouldn’t help.
Knowing a drop-rate is however rather pointless. Since a 10% drop rate does not guarantee that you will get one with each 10 chest you buy. No matter how high the drop-rate is (unless it is 100%) it is IMPOSSIBLE to know how many chests you would need to buy to get one.
You could be lucky and get one on the first try, but you could also be unlucky and not get one on 20 chests. IF they offer an exact drop-rate and people don’t get the drops after x amount of chests, they will simply claim that ArenaNet lies in order to sell more chests and so on.
We know that there is a low chance to get a skin or whatever, that is all we will know and also all we actually need to know.
SAB skins are not limited edition, the SAB instance will be back, with all existing skins and content as well as new additions.
That is actually incorrect.
SAB will be back, but the skins will not. There will be a new set of skins when it comes back.
Tuesday (June 11th), when the next story starts.
Why?
If I go out and by a lottery ticket in real life I have no idea about my chances of winning the jackpot.
As for “getting anything good” that is rather personal don’t you think?
I have opened LOADS of BLCs and in 95% of the cases I have gotten useful stuff out of them, even if they did not contain a skin or such.
It is actually VERY unusual for companies to give exact drop rates (or numbers over all for that matter) so I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Most of the Living Story takes place out in the open world and those areas can indeed still be accessed.
Well that is something they should fix then. Why should simple events that respawn every 10 minutes be more rewarding than massive meta-events that respawn after 1 or 2 hours? That’s kind of silly.
And considering the karka queen is an event that only gives you a reward once a day, the rewards from that chest should be even better!
The difference is that the event in question was there for a very limited time. While the meta-events are permanent
That is not my experience with the chest that the instigator dropped. I got gold items from that repeatedly.
Those are not meta-events.
Those are events that respawned every 10 minutes or something like that.
Oddly enough the chest that actually appears in the zone after killing the Queen, rarely contains anything but blues and greens. :/
That is the same with all the other meta event chests aswell though.
i don’t know if anyone knows, but anet did mention they are already considering an expansion. their main concern is to figure out when it should be released though, before putting any work into it.
Actually what they have said is that they are currently NOT working on an expansion. NCSoft on the other hand have said that they are planning an expansion (but then again NCSoft have been saying that since release.)
Yeah the bigger software gets the buggier it is. That said, the test server for Diablo 3 really made for a solid release whenever they did an update, because the bugs were mostly tested out by a big chunk of the player base.
Unfortunately they don’t test for fun in that game…
Actually even with that test-server Diablo 3 had quite a few issues coming into the live-servers.
Well as I commented to my guild last week, it does seem like whenever new content is released, we are the bug testers. I wish this was different. I realize the team is on a tight schedule, and of course they try to get the content out quickly and bug-free. And of course there is limited time to test all the new content… but there always seems to be something broken. And that’s a shame.
That is however the same in every single game ever released though.
No matter how much you test something there is always something that slips through.
Am the only one reading more into that dragonish appearance at the end of the DB trailer?
1:02 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDFFCgvkWSMSo, yeah that could be a tie in to the Living Story…
The hologram of the Shatterer?
As for being tied to the Living Story that is more or less already confirmed based on the end of the Southsun story.
Every time they add an event or update to the game it is buggy. As they just added the queen, which the majority of the player base was waiting for, you can expect it not to work as intended straight away. This is the way with Glitch Wars 2. I’ve never seen a major MMO as consistently bug-ridden as this one.
You can’t have seen many MMOs then.
That doesn’t make sense, then why would they provide these tools at all? Besides, I’m sure Anet would rather have more cash from the player base and simply come up with new gold sinks.
Ah but it does.
If x is available only for y amount of time. That means only z amount of people will have access to it.
That means that c amount of people will still spend in-game money to buy gathering tools and we can assume that c > z.
If suddenly c < z there will be a rather big inflation in the game, since less than the majority of players won’t spend in-game money on the tools, which would mean less and less money got out of the system.
Coming up with a new gold sink is probably harder than you would think. Since it must be something that either sinks MASSIVE amount of gold (as in extremely expensive stuff) or something that people will use frequently (such as WP or whatever) enough so that it actually drains the amount of currency from the game.
Most likely because that would mean a permanent way to skip one of the money-sinks in the game.
Umm… Don’t the WvW classes have different names now? [Server_Name] Assaulter, or [Server_Name] Scout, that sort of thing? I mean, if worst comes to worst, just make the WvW things [Server_Name] [Profession], problem solved.
Just because it hurts the WvW people doesn’t mean it isn’t a good idea as long as workarounds are put in place (and let’s face it, even if you see someone with light armor and dual daggers, you can’t know for sure they’re an Ele. If you see someone with medium armor and a shortbow, you have no clue if they’re a Thief or a Ranger. Heavy Armor with a Hammer? Could be either. Weapon choice tells you more about their play-style and how to counter it than what profession they are, IMO)
Nope. The Assaulter and such is just ranks. Same for every profession. And no, we do not want to tell with the name what the enemy is. We want to figure it out by ourselves, and making everyone being able to were any kind of armor would make that more or less impossible, until they use their skills.
WvW is a rather big part of the game. Completely removing one part of that (the ability to at least figure out what kind of profession the enemy CAN be) is quite silly, especially since it doesn’t really add anything to the rest of the game.
There are Rich Dragon Coffers which guarantee a skin drop, so not all RNG based.
Actually we do not know if it will be guaranteed from those RDC, even if it is quite likely. But nothing confirmed yet.
Just so people don’t come whining about being promised tickets if that is not the case
No.
There is a reason people can only use on armor-class.
Removing this would make it more or less impossible to know what profession your enemy was in WvW for one.
It is very unlikely that they would reveal anything like that on the forums like this before the actual event.
IF it somehow ties into the Elder Dragon story (which is quite possible) they would want us to experience it in-game not on the forums.
Yep. Will buy two of them for my main characters as soon as they are available.
Don’t really care about any effects and such.
Most likely because the stats it give is rather high.
God, I get so tired of the word “NEED”. You don’t NEED to play the game. Stop dictating what other people find enjoyable about the game!
Oh but finding something enjoyable is a want, not a need.
What’s wrong with that?
Waste of time? And people will still whine about not getting exact numbers.
That would be great. Either collect them all in one weekly update or post them to another thread or medium that can handle that kind of information.
Monday: “Changed spawn rate of Skritt in WvW”
Tuesday: “Changed drop rate of t6 blood from skelk”
Wednesday: “Changed spawn rate of Skritt in WvW”
And so on
You are however making a rather big mistake: You are assuming these changes requires a patch, which is not the case, since all the actual numbers and such are server-side and therefore never in the hands of the clients.
They are most likely tweaking spawn and drop-rates quite frequently, same with density of mobs, times between events and number of active events possible.
Should they make a new post every single time they did something like that?
That would probably mean several new posts per week with only information like that.
Sure.
Until they are gone.Again I have to stubbornly insist on a proper Archive, at least of the most pertinent convos we had with NPCs. In my opinion it´s simply the only viable way of solving this dilemma.
Oh, I agree with that.
I have no issue with some kind of archive which tells us some information about earlier stories and such. I would actually welcome it.
GW2 is a game, and games are meant to be fun. A lot of people do not want to spend their time in-game on talking to a lot of different NPC’s reading all the text.
That is just something you have to realize whether you think it’s being lazy or not.
So yes, people have a “right” to complain about the way the lore in presented if they’d rather see it a different way.And no, i don’t want cinematics “everywhere” but having a one minute long cinematic to brief the players of the current situation on Southsun Cove as well as present Canach and his history seems like a very good idea to me.
Exactly, it is a game. Not a tv-show. A game, especially a RPG, is about doing stuff. Not about sitting around watching everything being shown to you without any effort of your own.
Of course, I never said people couldn’t complain about the way it is presented, I say people that actively skip the lore should not complain about the lore not making sense.
So getting the devs to spend hours doing something that will last just a minute or so instead of spending those hours actually working on the event is a good thing?
Anyone that even have a slight interested about the story can find out quite a bit about the story by simply talking to the NPCs marked with stars.
In fact, people CAN skip lore content and then whine about not understanding it. If the lore content is based on text, and since most people do not want to spend their time reading chat-bubbles it is still a legit reason to “whine”
You bring up a fair point about people wanting to explore and find out about the lore themselves. Of course there should be something that caters to these people as well.
But a cinematic that explains the broader more basic perspective would not hurt that playerbase, as long as there is room more more in-depth knowledge if you speak to the NPC’s.
No, if people chose to skip the lore they have no right to come and whine about not understanding the Lore.
If I decide to watch a movie and start watching when half the movie is already over I can’t really whine about not understanding stuff since I skipped the first part, now can I?
So you simply want cinematics everywhere because some people are to lazy to find out stuff for themselves?
This may be true, but reality is that a lot people do not find chat-bubbles and text very interesting and therefore do not pay attention.
“This not Anet’s problem?” In afraid it this. If people skip story/lore content it’s usually because it’s presented in the wrong way.
I for one do not read all the text bubbles and chat with NPCs.
Of course. But that is an issue with people rather than the game.
People can’t really skip half the lore and then whine about not understanding the lore.
GW2 is not an Action FPS where all information is thrown in your face and you have a cutscene every 5 minutes. It is a RPG, and RPG usually require some kind of actual work to get information about what is happening.
The lore is there, people are simply to lazy to look at it. Some of us actually like the fact that we get information about current events by actually doing what is the most logical: Talk to and listen to people out in the world.
Lore that makes sense to put in the game is in the game.
The information posted outside the game is actually not needed at all to understand the storyline.
People do however seem to want the storyline thrown in their face in order to be happy. The storyline is fully understandable by only playing the game, but people need to actually explore and listen/talk to NPCs in order to get all the pieces.
I said nothing about the events staying in the game. I said the storyline should always be told in the game and not on websites. The most recent example would be the Canach story that was printed on this website. That should have been in-game and not on a website. I shouldn’t have to go outside the game to catch up on missing plotholes and current events.
Most of the information could however be found in-game, even if it required some actual exploring and listening.
The parts that are NOT found in game would however been quite hard to put into the game in a logical way and said information is also not really needed to actually understand the story-line but rather used to flesh out the characters a bit extra for people that care.
ALL of the story should be told in-game. There should be NO reason one would have to go to a 3rd party website to learn the storyline.
But that storyline is over, why would it be in the game if it is no longer active?
If people want to read up on stuff that have happened they can use the wiki.
Or do you want every single holiday event to stay in the game all year around and forever? Because that is basically the exact same thing. After the Halloween was over people would have to check the wiki to get the story.
And for all we know the event of last Halloween will NOT come back for the next Halloween.
If players stop buying them, then they will stop selling them.
It’s that simple.People are dumb though and will keep supporting this gambling mechanism.
And yes, this is bad for the overall game, because the money goes to NCSoft, and they will use that money on Aion and other games.
You mean just like how money from Aion and other games made this game possible in the first place?
