Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Highly unlikely that this would happen.
You have to keep in mind that GW2 is a persistent world, while GW1 was completely instanced.
Another thing to keep in mind is the cost that would be involved in making two different versions of every single map in the game, including scaling all enemies, all events and all rewards. This is not something you can sit down with two people and do in a day or two. It would probably take a rather large team of people quite a few weeks.
Personal story and crafting.
That’s just the thing though: They are laying low for now, but as soon as the measures taken to stop them is removed they will swarm back.
Ah, but the Ascended items gained from Laurels are in no way exclusive to Laurels and are obtainable by doing other stuff.
So, how do I obtain Ascended Amulets without doing dailies again?
Ah, I was under the impression that those was obtainable from Guild Mission, my mistake
Ah, but the Ascended items gained from Laurels are in no way exclusive to Laurels and are obtainable by doing other stuff.
I do indeed. The philosophy was to “play how you want” not “chat how you want”. Chatting does not affect anything in the game in any way and can not be considered playing.
If you manage to roam and kill people without ever capturing a point that is pretty impressive seeing that most fights take place on objectives. I haven’t ever seen a roamer who goes to a point, kills the bunker who is defending it, just to leave the point. And I sure hope I won’t meet one!
Eventually you should get the captures.
Clearly! Do however also keep in mind that the way you play does not represent the other 3 million players
So people are allowed to play the way YOU feel is right, but not other ways?
GW2 is a MMORPG, RPG suggest roleplaying. Roleplaying does not always include fighting and killing. Therefore in order to shout about people playing the game the way they want you should also give those people the right to play the way they want. And therefore they should also, by your logic, get the dailies by simply chatting.
Hmm? It is quite usual for roamers to waylay people away from the cap-points, that is after all the point of a roamer. To roam around and disturb the enemy movements.
Exactly, and yet you don’t accept that people don’t play the same way you do
@knives, the reply answers your post as well.
That is kind of ignorant to assume and a bad attempt at invalidating what I wrote. I wrote exactly what we were told though that we should be able to complete dailies by “playing the game how we want” – By playing how we want, one must assume an average players online for maybe 2 hours on an average day. I’m pretty sure just about no one comes online for 2 hours to go kill 30 mobs in Shiverpeaks, then go kill 10 people in WvW, then do a dungeon, then eat 25 foods and go craft 10 items. Dailies should be a smaller thing. If you come online for 2 hours to kill some people in WvW and cap a few camps, maybe a tower that should be a daily. If you go do 3 explorable dungeons, maybe even a few different ones, then that should be a daily.
Try comparing it to daily PvP (which awards you a much easier laurel) – No matter how you play PvP you WILL get the daily. You can’t not finish 3 matches if you stick with a game. Capturing points and getting kills are pretty much tkittenence of PvP. You are rewarded for playing daily.
PvE does not do this. You have to do very specific things to complete the daily and time investment is way higher than PvP (Usually).
Exactly, and some people want to play the game by simply standing around in Lions Arch talking to people. Therefore in order for them to be able to get their dailies by “playing the way they want” they would get it by simply logging in. Don’t you see the issue with that?
Hmm? It would actually be impossible to complete the PvP daily if you focus only on roaming and fighting the enemies. Since they also require capping, which would not be done by a roamer usually.
I usually complete a PvE daily in about 30 minutes at most, and that is by playing as usual (and maybe craft 10 planks or whatever), so clearly it is quite possible to complete the dailies without actively working on it.
The dailies are a problem. They are meant to award you for “playing how you want to play”. Being online several hours a day I rarely get 5/9 dailies from playing how I want to play which includes doing most of the world bosses (Kills, veterans, mentor, kills in area X) and doing explorable dungeons (dungeon daily). I do not like WvW zergfest which is 2/9 every day and I certainly don’t eat 25 foods or use the toilet 5 times a day. Dailies ARE forced if you want laurels – But that is okay because they award you for how you want to play.. Oh wait.
So you basically want to get the daily completed by simply logging in?
Because that is really the only way that would reward everyone playing “the way they want”.
Mmm, no, they won’t, because it doesn’t. What players do “with” that code is how you get bugs and unforeseen occurrences. That’s why you test things, what server it’s on has nothing to do with that.
Actually we would, since it does.
The test-server is never identical to the actual live servers, so issues can pass through thousands of tests and still screw something up when it comes to the live server.
Hmm?
I am in a rather small guild, and we have WvW upgrades ready more or less constantly.
A guild that focus mainly on WvW would most likely have said buffs up most of the time.
It is quite unusual to see a claimed keep/tower/camp without buffs nowadays.
I paid for regular stuff, it is how stuff work for you?
Of course its my fault I made this game, idiot
You paid for a chance to get certain stuff, you didn’t get that stuff, but that does not mean you got nothing.
I bought quite a few of these Rich Coffers as well, I didn’t get a ticket (I got one from a Regular Coffer later on though) but you don’t see me complaining about it, simply because I was well aware what I was paying for.
Nowhere does it say that buying Rich Coffers will guarantee that you get an item you want.
So just because you didn’t get something you like you got “nothing”?
That is not really how stuff work.
You were fully aware that you had a CHANCE to get something cool from the boxes, not a guarantee, so the fault is entirely yours.
Please don’t compare GW1 to GW2. I like GW2, but it will never be what GW1 was to me.
While GW2 may not be dead, you can’t deny how empty most of the zones are. OP I hope you didn’t create an account on BP.
You mean just like most outpost were in GW1?
At this point in time I highly doubt we’ll ever see the Crystal Desert. GW2 is being developed in a completely different direction. They have no reason to revisit old areas including Cantha and Elona. If they did open up the Crystal Desert, I’m sure it wouldn’t look anything like what we remember. So it’d just be a disappointment.
I laughed at your post Rooks Zaer. That’s exactly what they would do!!
So you assume we will never actually fight the rest of the elder dragons then?
We do after all know for a fact that one of them is in the Crystal Desert.
The main issue with this is that it would make it even easier for bots and such, since they would have one less interaction to worry about.
Sure it is not much of an issue for them, but why make it easier?
True.. but you ever did the math on 2000 gold through the exchange rate? I am pretty sure at that point unless money is of literally no object to you, you would not do it. Or I am mean I guess if you are just crazy as hell about getting a legendary.
The amount of money needed for a legendary might be quite high, but at the same time people with works can quite easily save up that amount of money in a month or two if they really wanted to.
The whole point was simply to dispel the notion that having a legendary meant you had worked harder ingame than someone with a coffer-skin.
I understand the allure of rarity, but seeing someone with a rare drop from an RNG box versus someone with a hard as hell to get legendary does not equate to me. One only requires money, the other requires mountains of effort.
Or money, since you can buy the Legendaries from the TP.
I do find myself in agreement with this if the rumors are true that NCSoft gets 100 percent of gem store royalties. That would mean that NCSoft is essentially siphoning the funding for this game and holding it for ransom, meanwhile they are funneling it to a game that they want to be better than Guild Wars 2. It would be a sad sight to behold as an Anet employee if that previously mentioned scenario is true. I would wonder who was behind negotiations of that deal, that has proven to be quite the shafting.
You do know that ArenaNet technically don’t have any money of their own, right? Since they are fully owned by NCSoft all the money is from NCSoft and all the income goes to NCSoft. This has been the case since before the release of ArenaNets first game (Guild Wars Prophecies).
Another thing you have to keep in mind is that the only reason we even have GW2 is that NCSoft have pushed in money made from their other games in order to fund the creation of GW2.
“Attend the effigy lighting ceremony on June 18!”
That sounds like a 1 day only kind of thing, like the karka finale event.
From the release page:
The Dragon Effigy Lighting Ceremony – Begins June 18
Join the Captain’s Council and other dignitaries as they light dragon effigies in the Grand Piazza of Lion’s Arch starting June 18. Hosted by the jovial Magnus the Bloody Handed, this ceremony will be full of merriment and surprises.
It quite clearly says BEGINS, which would mean that you can start doing it on that date, but should be able to do it for the rest of the festival. Otherwise they would have said ON June 18 or something like that.
Very unlikely that it will be one day only. Especially since the festival stays until the 9th and the release page says “Begins June 18” but no end-date (which the fireworks does)
You can’t.
The event is over.
It comes down to the dates they picked to exclude people from the promotion. Our gem purchases on August 25th shows just as much support as someone else’s gem purchase on August 28th. Period.
But the game had not officially launched before August 28th.
It was also possible to buy gem during the last BWE, should they also be included?
They had to draw the line somewhere, and the most logical was to draw it at the actual release.
People are lazy. Dont see why Anet cant put 2 timezones in their releases though. They do do it sometimes.
So what about those that live in the other 20 timezones?
Should they put up every single timezone in the world for all their schedules?
If people can’t figure it out with only this, how would they figure it out if the put it in UTC?
Because american timezones are a bit more awkward to work out when you live on the other side of the world.
And people are unable to use the very name of the timezone posted in the schedule and convert that to their own time?
There are hundreds of sites that can do that.
Not the best answer when they said it starts at 9 A.M. Reset the servers and fireworks so the players can get their achievement.
Well, the thing is that the fireworks HAVE been there on several servers (most likely those not in overflow got it) and there would be no real reason for them to kitten up their schedule as long as they fix it before the next appearance.
ANET its 12 am where I’m at, am waiting for the event. please tell us now if its broken, so that I can sleep.
Will even if it is not, the next one is not supposed to start in 2 hours, so I would say go to sleep. You have the whole weekend to complete the achievement.
It’s weird I’ve bought so many things from the gemstone between the required period and haven’t received the minis yet. They said they are sending them out in waves but it has been a few days hopefully ill get them soon..
Have you bought the gems with real money or with gold?
I got my mini … only, it’s gone now, so don’t worry if you didn’t get one, they disappear anyway.
:(
They are put into the collectible tab in your bank if you press the deposit all collectibles, so check there
I think eventually they should just remove it entirely from the gem store. It’s not much of a “collector’s edition” if it’s just available forever.
It never was a collector’s edition though.
The fireworks begin at 9AM PDT on Friday, June 14 and will go off every two hours until 12PM PDT Monday, June 17.

They are definitely a real threat.
Why else would the Orders and races work together?
The Charr and the Humans? They hate each other, and yet they work together to face a greater threat.
You know, I actually think it would be best if ArenaNet never gave us anything at all under any circumstances.
As for the actual reason for this situation it might simply be that the record they use for this giveaway simply started at the actual release of the game, and they simply don’t bother with manually checking every single account created before that for possible gem purchases.
This would possible work: IF they removed the ability to trade in game gold for gems.
People always seems to remember the “good old days” of GW1s ingame store, but at the same time they keep forgetting the fact that 1: Most things were more expensive. 2: They offered actual advantages and 3: You had to pay real money to actually get anything.
What does my job has to do with anything that i have said ? i;m making a comment about something that should have been adressed months ago,if something has been suggested over and over again it would been a good idea to put a bit higher on your priority list. Many people have been annoyed by the fact that when looting you pick up banners start talking with npc’s etc and text bubbles pop up on your screen, its frustrating and has been suggested from the start of gw2.Giving looting it’s own key would have been the best way to deal with this instead of sharing it with the interactive key imo.
Your job has to do with the fact that you seems to think that programming something like this is easy or high priority. Someone that actually DO program stuff would know that things are usually more complicated that they seems.
Or just wait until more parts of the festival is released and there might be stuff that awards high amount of candies?
Haven’t seen any difference today personally.
So basically crashing the servers once every month?
This video has been linked about 50000 times on these forums. Back when it was new about a month ago.
But every 6 months a expansion came out with profs/zones/skills/monsters/story/skins/endgame.
Well, for a couple of years at least.
Actually they only managed that at one point.
And that was between Factions and Nightfall.
Prophecies April 2005
Factions April 2006
Nightfall October 2006
Eye of the North August 2007
Do you remember that at the same time it took months if not years to get new content?
I have seen them in both Fireheart Rise and Frostgorge Sounds.
They also spawn in Frostgorge and Fireheart Rise.
dude youve just had a thread closed for saying I QUIT because you were better than everyone else in pvp,
so sorry to everyone else if im coming across rude as im normally not but you can take your kitten comment and kitten kitten kitten
I would actually suggest checking that thread again.
I didn’t create that thread and I said more or less the same thing in that thread as I said here.
@lordkrall: you’re wrong. Multiple entities of everything can exist with proper hashing and timestamps. Don’t use technobabble unless you know what you’re talking about.
True, but in that case those entities would not be identical, and that could result and loss of data.
Because someone that is actually good have no need to shout about being good?
A good player don’t need to get confirmation from other people to know that they are good.
And people shouting about being good in chat simply looks like kittenholes.
Couldn’t they create like a mirror account that would be transferred to the EU database when you guest on a EU server, but would be removed as soon as your guest ends?
Most likely not, since only one entity of the account can exist at the same time.
I am on a NA server… I want to play with my EU friends..
It’s not an issue of ‘fixing’ this, it’s an issue of “this bullcrap shouldn’t have been there in the first place”. They made it work for GW1, why not for GW2? (I’m not computer engineer, so if someone could enlighten my troubled mind as to why I’m gated from some of my friends, that would help as well)
Because GW1 and GW2 uses two completely different server setups. They accounts are simply stored in different data-centers and cannot exist simultaneously on both, since the entities would be exactly the same, which would screw up the database.
I meant, the Hard Mode in Dungeon that ask for a 8person party because its TOO difficult even for 8
I really miss those 8 persons parties.
If it is too difficult for 8 what is the point of making them support 8 people?
Why not simply make them “too difficult” for 5 people and keep the current group-size (which is also what the game is balanced around)
Might I suggest checking out Whisperwill Bogs in Bloodtide Coast
I’m not saying I’m better. I’m saying the game mechanics are as such that it’s so one sided that there’s nothing to do in a match other than just akitten.
You actually said several time in your original post that you were better, and it was annoying that everyone else sucked.
