The issue with this is however that no one seems willing to actually host such a session. The Guru (which takes care of the State of the Game (sPvP) have tried to get people interested in starting State of the Game (WvW) and State of the Game (PvE) as well, but no one seemed really interested in taking care of one.
The GuM on Underworld is the “original” GuM and the one on RoS is in no way connected to it.
So, you basically want people to get access to every achievement and thing in the game by simply logging in?
Because that is what would be required for some people to access everything.
They can’t really create the game around people that only have 1 hours playtime each day, when clearly a rather big part of the playerbase have quite a few hours.
So, you basically want to go back to the old model with a bit new content every 6 months or so?
People don’t NEED to do the achievements. The rewards you get for doing them are cosmetic and isn’t required to play the game.
The Living story is trying to make the world seem alive, and for it to seem alive stuff must keep happening at a rather rapid pace, otherwise it would just feel weird.
They already said that Cantha is like %99 not to happen, NCSoft is against including the asiatic continent in the game.
And they have also stated that the individual responsible for the “anti-Cantha” thing is no longer working at NCSoft, and that nothing has been decided and Cantha is very possible to be featured in the future.
They have stated several times that there will be actual expansions in the future.
Well, the back piece is exactly what I was thinking of. I dont currently have the backpiece. If I was to log into the game right now, I would only have one way to earn it, right? I personally don’t care as I dont want ascended gear, but that alone makes me think thakittens wrong to assume all future ascended gear will have multiple channels to obtain said gear. The karka backpiece was a pretty recent addition into the game. Did they deciee between then and now that they want to have more than one way of earning each piece of gear, or did they say that before the karka event?
They made it quite clear back when they added Fractals and the kittenstorm began that they made a mistake with making Ascended Gear obtainable only in Fractals, so it is quite unlikely that any new kind of Ascended gear will be locked into a single obtainable method.
The reason for why the back piece is currently unobtainable outside Fractals is as far as I know unknown, but I would assume it is because they are trying to find a way to balance it between the different modes.
fixable…. reducing the number of players per world per map will reduce the lag…….
Which is of course not really a fix but rather a band-aid.
They are most likely working on a real fix though.
Well, last year fractals was the only way to get ascended gear for a considerable period of time…
Its possible this time, that as well as being the main reward for raids, they introduce them as a very, very expensive laurel purchase…
You have NO CHANCE whatsoever of them being available by crafting or WvW…that’s not the way Anet do things judging from there history…

Yep, which would erase the problem of only having access to them by only doing one specific activity.
Most Ascended Item is currently very much obtainable in WvW.

Nope, there is currently not a single piece that can only be obtained by doing one activity. (Or well, one might argue that Back items might require Fractals since the only other item that can be Ascended without Fractal stuff can no longer be obtained).
But other than everything is obtainable in several different ways.
And they are quite clearly working on making stuff obtainable in more ways.

I can see the rewards for raids being a new form of token which when you have enough you exchange for ascended armour/weapons…the reward for raids has to be something very, very good so it makes sense.
Why?
Rewards from the dungeons are not better than rewards from the open world.
IF they add ascended armor and weapons to the raids it is extremely unlikely that they won’t add other ways to get it as well (such as Laurels/WvW/Crafting).
actually, it would seem fair to me that 1 rank chest would be the same as 1 dragon/boss chest, as a PvE’r can easily get about 8 of those a day…
So basically you want more or less unlimited guaranteed amounts of rare per day?
Oh, I must have missed the memo about being forced to go glass cannon in fractals, since I have never done that and yet I have done quite a few Fractals.
In real life Longbows and shortbows have exactly the same range. Longbows have higher damage, at the cost of mobility.
In games, shortbows have shorter range. Go figure. That’s not what the “short” in shortbow stands for.
Actually a longbow DOES have longer range than a shortbow.
If I wanted dungeon grind or daily grind for jewelry I would play Tera.
So… how does that stop the things I mentioned from being new permanent content?
Sorry, but this group is amazing because of our ability to have fun, and work together. We have had no issues with any other dungeons. We figure out the mechanics, and work quite well at solving them.
This however was beyond our abilities. We all knew what to do, but simply couldn’t do it. After hours of trying we got sick of trying and gave up. We knew the mechanics, we knew what the solution was, but we couldn’t make it happen.
While I appreciate your feedback, to generalize and assume that we’re just “not good enough” to complete the dungeon is a tad insulting.
And yet it is fully possible to complete the dungeon with a pug-group, even for a average player as myself.
Which part is it that is currently the issue?
If you knew what was happening and what to do but yet couldn’t doing there were clearly something done wrong somewhere.
Edit for the edit: But thats the thing though: Unless you stand still (or have virtually no vitality) you won’t die from the fire. You should be fully able to dodge/move away from it even if taking a hit or two.
Why does everybody assume that we run a zerker group? For the record: we don’t.
I am not assuming, I am simply stating that attacking this dungeon the way you would the others might not work.
The main issue is that the majority of dungeons don’t really require much thinking, and therefore when a dungeon comes along that actually require people to think, react and work together it seems “impossible” simply because people are not used to it.
That’s great for you that that worked out for you, but please refrain from making this a general statement. Maybe “It’s not that hard” for you – but I just gave up after over three hours (with my established dungeon group of players) because we ran out of time.
And this might very well be the reason why people are having a hard time.
They go towards the dungeon thinking it is the same as all other dungeons where simply zerk it down is the way to go.
That is clearly not the way to do this dungeon so even “established groups” might have issues if they don’t adapt to the situation.
Might I suggest not building for zerker in the dungeon?
I have yet to find a single insta-kill thing in the dungeon so maybe your stats are simply not suited for it?
Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that the living story does NOT end with the dungeon, but rather with another step that is not yet released (and probably won’t require completion of the dungeon first, but time will tell)
Finding 2 targets and managing to take them down under 15 mins with only 10 people is almost impossible without tracking all possible bosses before the start. But with 10 members, you can’t do that.
Guild Trek should be the first challange type.
Not really no.
Before I joined my current guild my old guild managed to complete several tier 1 bounties without tracking the targets beforehand.
As long as you know their area and their route it is quite easy.
And since nothing is stopping you from tracking most of them down before starting, that isn’t really an issue now, is it?
Funnily enough Guild Trek is more or less impossible without cheating.
Too bad you start with bounty, for what you need at least 20 members to succeed. So 80% of GW2 players cannot go.

It is fully possible to complete a bounty with 10 people without much trouble.

Yes they are. There were several mini-dungeons added with the Shadow of the Mad King update, they are still very much available (some are even used in the achievement to find the caches.)
So just because you don’t like it, it is not content?
Fractals is a dungeon, no matter what you say.
There are quiet a few other smaller events added as well, but one rather big meta was added in Southsun.
And new dynamics to the very way said content works,
So, you think they simply wrote a line of code and it was done?
Just because you don’t think stuff takes time or is important don’t make it true.
Every addition takes time and resources.

Everyone is fully able to buy them on the TP, so I don’t really see the issue.
Another thing to keep in mind is that they are extremely expensive to make and far from the best food in the game.

I have been defeated several times both in the starter room and between the portal place and the chest. So clearly it is still not risk-free.
So your saying I can’t have free siege weapon when you can using a mesmer portal?

It is fully possible to stop a mesmer from porting people up. He does have to get there in the first place for one, and then he is a rather easy target and so is the port spot.

I got ported up as late as yesterday so unless they changed something today (which I am quite sure they haven’t) it is still very much possible.
And not being able to attack enemy servers there would be stupid, since that would mean people would be able to get free siege daily without any kind of risk and that would be quite silly.
So you want to be able to get free siege and badges without any threat at all?
Stopping the enemies from getting said free siege is a rather good thing, since more siege = bad.

They did never, in any way or form, say that GW2 would have one expansion per year.
You also seem to ignore quite a bit of stuff added.
Fractals have been added, dailies for PvP (which awards laurels and possible gem-store item) have also been added.
And what if you are a great player but don’t have a guild?
There is always a risk you will end up with bad players in a PUG. And with this system pugs would most likely get more or less non-existent since gambling with a pug might mean your rating will get lowered because the other players made mistakes.
So basically helping the elitist people be elitist and make it impossible for people with little experience or unlucky groups to get a decent group?

Situation has value since the the whole party’s time was wasted including the dungeon starter, and time is valuable. If people remember this simple matter then no one wastes their time.

And yet “remembering who started the dungeon” is not an issue unless you are planning on exploiting.

Its much to punishing for melee builds; your options are move or don’t move; I could see the addition of another DoT based attack but one that hurts movement doesn’t fit a meta in which movement/dodging is a fundamental.
So, don’t be stupid and only use melee then?
The whole point of it is to force people to decide if it is worth the extra damage from moving, or risking death by not moving.

I like it. It makes people think a bit when in combat.

As long as people are not leaving/changing characters (exploiting) and such the one starting the instance is completely useless information.

There are situation where you don’t want to loot everything in the area (such as when there is a steel chest and 5+ corpses and you only want the steel chest).

if its impossbile to carry it then yes if for stopping the orb then no.
a way to do that would be to kill the npc or make him flee if no PC’s are close of the faction starting him( there is a lot of possible ways it could be implented)
It would be completely impossible to escort the Orb, unless you did it on a completely empty map or the NPC had a constant +100% speed buff or 1 million HP.
You have to pay for those custom PVP servers with gems. Doesn’t cut it.
This comment is more of a ‘every MMO has a duel system’ than ANet told us we would get one.
Especially with how PVP heavy GW2 is. I would expect a duel system.

You have to pay to CREATE and OWN a custom PvP server. There are however LOADS of servers that are already up that focus on dueling.
Hm? There are quite a few MMOs that does NOT have dueling, so why assume this game, where they stated there would be none, would have it?
Come on, everyone know there is a ton of easy fix to the hack problem. For example, have a NPC carry the orb to the keep. While he carry it you just have to protect him.
So basically making it completely impossible to take the Orb?
Raids? The servers can’t even handle the loads now. This will end in tears..
So, how big raids are you thinking about?
The servers can handle 50vs10 quite well in WvW.
Actually this would fit quite well as a Fractal.
Both the first boss (with the walls) and the last one would work great and have easily addable agony.
