New match up system – is just mixing matches, how does this even require Dev time?
it failed btw, look at the 800 reply page of terrible match match making system. it was only an attempt to “fix” stale matches.breakout event system -another attempt to “fix” matches which didnt really work out
progression system – really 1% more dmg to guards, siege. etc required so much Dev time?
every update in the last 4 months was – cata mastery, ballista mastery, mortar mastery, canon master, AC mastery.
do u really call that an update seriously??
You are simplifying the match-up system quite a bit I would say. It most likely took quite some dev time to get it somewhat “correct”.
Breakout events works quite well when used with a bit of thought.
Still a new system, no matter if you find it useful or not, and it did most likely require quite some time to implement and balance.
Yep, and balance changes to mobs, skills, siege and so on. Clearly they don’t care at all
Just because you don’t like the added stuff doesn’t mean they haven’t added stuff.
I personally play very little sPvP, but I don’t go around claiming nothing have been added to sPvP.
So, how many new zones does that involve?
I see no new zones, but a few new dungeons.
The same has been added to GW2 (and more)
I asked about new zones added, since that is what people seems to be caring about.
We have had quite a few instances added since release of GW2, both permanent and temporary.
No, they shoudl tell something concrete. 10 months and still they say the same thing over and over again.
Dont us WvW dont even deserve that much?i highly suggest u read the sPVP replies from Devs, u can see a clear difference between how the WvW and sPVP players are treated and how they are responded to!!
And what if they have nothing more concrete and set in stone to say?
What if they simply are doing what they have told us? Should they retell us that once every day just so that we get some red posts on the forums?
Yes and no.
PvP players get new maps all the time, and devs are responding.
We get nothing in WvW apart from silly skills that could be designed in 60 seconds, and no dev is answering.
See the connection now?
sPvP have gotten 4 new maps and custom servers since release.
WvW have gotten new match-up system, break-out events, progression system and quite a bit overall polish + new upgrades more or less every update.
What do you want them to say?
“We are currently working on the overall experience of WvW and will talk more about it in the future”?
well in a NORMAL world, if people respond, it means they are caring.
dont u think??
U u give too much credit to WvW. i have yet to see whats so amazing that came out in the past 9 months that required Devs to not even take 5 mins out in 24 hrs to reply to WvW specific forums.
So, they should simply keep responding: “We are working on stuff that we will talk about later” once a day?
Would that really make people happier? That would simply make people complain about the lack of real information and the fact that the devs are posting useless stuff on the forums rather than working on the game.
The silence is most likely due to the fact that they don’t really have anything new to tell us yet.
So, responding on forums = caring?
Wouldn’t the fact that they don’t respond actually suggest that they are busy working with it instead of spending loads of time responding on the forums?
So basically the threads that get spammed the most would get more focus?
They are already reading the forums and responding to the thread they feel the need to respond to. Forcing them to respond to certain thread would be quite silly and it would make they spend less time on working on the game and more time on being forced to post on the forums.
As an example, Turbine at least with AC always had fantastic community support and some of the best monthly patches of any game I have ever played. The game was far from perfect but the community was very forgiving and most importantly the game is still around nearly 14 years later.
And yet the very same company seems to more or less ignore most posts about Lord of the Rings Online.
Because no dev posts in this sub forum for like 7 months. Outside of Jeff Vaughn saying they’ll fix the chanter respawning on Cliffside eventually. Wanna bet whether or not that’s actually getting into the next patch?
So no post = not working on it?
Quite flawed way of thinking.
I for one would rather say it would be the opposite, if they don’t post on the forums that means they are busy working on the game.
It is not a democratic election, since everyone have multiple votes based on how much they play and what they play.
And as have already been pointed out what he actually said was that it was not an American election, not that it wasn’t democratic.
American != Democratic.
That’s unacceptable – we should be well into the Crystal Desert or Far Shiverpeaks by now. I understand that MMOs are more of a churn and burn money-mule these days, now more than ever, but I’ve got to say, if there was ever a plan to respect the original game and breathe its life into GW2, the devs really should be ashamed of their efforts.
So.. how many new zones where released in WoW in the first year?
TERA? LOTRO? SWTOR?
why are they adding new fractals when they need to fix the old ones first
Why assume they are not fixing the others before/at the same time as they add the new ones?
Bullkitten. I haven’t seen a single post complaining that devs are spending time in the forums instead of working on the game, but I’ve seen literally hundreds of posts thanking the devs for being communicative … back when they were actually communicative.
Oh, but that is because those posts get deleted quite fast.
It is quite common for people to complain about the devs spending time posting on the forums rather than fixing stuff (less talk more action is usually the argument used).
So more or less completely remove the whole difficulty of the JP?
Since this event starts on July 23rd you should be able to do most (if not all?) of it before you leave.
The next part on the other hand is a different question (that one should be released on August 6th.
So, they should type for the sake of typing then?
And if they do people will complain about them not telling us anything.
If they respond to much people complain about them spending more time on the forums rather than working on the game.
And so on.
They simply can’t win.
Just always wondered why they have these big events for these 3 particular dragons but not one for Prim….. i think something like that would be a great addition to this whole Living World they have going on…. from a lot of the other posts i have read a lot of people seem to be forgetting about Prim only because there is nothing really major to represent him.
And how many of his creatures do we even see out in the world?
What about the jungle dragon and bubbles? Not a single creature as far as we know.
Prim is underground, why would he keep sending up champions to the surface when he is happy down in the caves?
^ You should check the live-stream.
Colin confirms that the Fall of Abaddon refers to the actual fall, which happens pre-Guild Wars.
I’m guessing Abaddon’s fall is about the story in GW1 nightfalls where the sunspears kicked Abaddon in the face and let Kormir ascend to godhood.
You are guessing wrong.
It is about his actual fall, that takes place before GW1 when he is fighting the gods.
I can see how you think that, but from Guild Wars: Prophesy’s intro “The last day dawns on the Kingdom of Ascalon, it arrives with no fanfare, no tolling of alarms.” This means that no city was being broken into and therefore the city being sacked was Ascalon City and the surge was the foefire.
And yet it is confirmed that it is an alternate version of the Searing. (Said here: http://wartower.tumblr.com/post/49691195928/in-this-lorespecial-episode )
And yes, there were fighting before the Searing, there had been fighting for quite some time before that very day.
You do know that the Ascalon fractal is the fall of Ascalon right? When you are getting ported out you hear that a giant energy surge is incoming and that is 100% the foefire.
Actually no.
It is an alternate version of the Searing (which on the other hand is the real fall of Ascalon, since Ascalon was already more or less fallen when the Foefire took place)
Colin just confirmed that it refers to the fight against the five gods.
Confirmed in the live-stream that the Fall of Abaddon refers to the battle against the gods, NOT the GW1 mission.
Maybe we will actually fight on Abaddons side and be Margonites?
Well, if you want to see “The fall of Abbadon” you can play GW1 the Nightfall campain is about it….
Actually as far as we know the “Fall of Abaddon” might refer to his actual fall, rather than his death.
His fall was in a battle with the other gods long before GW1.
I get the monthly thing they are trying to do. but bringing it out halfway this month and not including the people who bought gems in the first half is just backhanded. (got the mini’s, I’d trade them for the kite though)
So you bought your gems in order to get a present down the line, instead of actually getting the item you bought gems for in the first place?
What makes you assume there will be no other fractals added before that?
“Sponsor Fractals of the Mist research into the Fall of Abaddon”. For all we know all it’ll (same with reactor) be is a custcene accessed from the Fractals hub (where the merchants are), and not be an actual level/fractal.
I’d rather go with Kiel just for the waypoint costs right now, since we don’t know what the fractals stuff will actually be.
It is highly unlikely they would word it like that if it were only a cutscene, and they would most likely be able to do it way before the end of the year if that was the case.
I don’t know. One fractal shows the destruction of Rata Sum which is clearly in the future. So not necessarily historical.
That has actually been stated by a dev to not be the case.
None of the present fractals takes place in the future and the place itself is not Rata Sum.
Because for WvW a perk line at month, work for Anet 10 minutes for copy-paste it, is enough.
Seriously…when we’ll get what WvW community is asking since release?
Which part of the WvW community?
Different people asks for different thing after all, and in some cases these things are opposite of each other, so which side should they listen to?
Hehe, these choices actually make it HARDER than it was when we though it would be between Molten Alliance Facility and Aeatherblade Retreat..
But yes, the Fall of Abaddon does indeed sound quite promising.
That argument really doesn’t hold any water, since human kind is defending itself, while the Dragons are attacking. They are quite obviously the aggressor. And humans don’t manipulate others to make them their mindless servants.
Oh?
I see quite a few human aggressors as well, both in game and out in the real world.
That would mean they are evil, doesn’t it?
I assume you have not read Edge of Destiny?
Or Mesmer’s overall are quite adapt at “manipulating others” to make them mindless servants.
This is also seen quite a bit in the real world where people are manipulating other through love or power.
In what reality is corrupting the land and other beings not considered to be an evil act?
So, human beings in the real world are evil then? Because we are quite clearly corrupting the land and other beings.
- Reduce population cap on all map
- Overflow WvW map while you are in queueDone
Yeah, overflow would work really well with scores and such…
Well lets be honest, they could have placed a giant airship anywhere on the world. And Southsun Cove is even adjacent to several explorables, yet they didn’t connect it to any of the land mass.
No, they couldn’t.
The airship seems to be close the size of Lions Arch. Just putting it somewhere not close to the coast would most likely not work.
It also makes sense from a game-play point of view, since they can now work with scaling without making it inconvenient to players.
Indeed, Southsun does indeed appear quite near other areas, but it is an island (a volcanic island no less) and it wouldn’t make much sense that these water dwelling creatures would turn up in mass on a random landmass connected to one of the other areas (because if they did, why didn’t we know about them before?)
Right. I can see how 1 shotting things would be better………
What..?
lol ive played many mmos that doesnt happen and even if they come in all their doing is helping the low levels
Actually no.
What people do when they come into a low-level zone as a high-level is that they kill everything without much issue making it quite hard for the low-levels to get credit for kills.
Players and guilds transferring servers to “fix” the problem = crazy revenue for Anet. I can’t think of any other sane reason for letting a game-breaking formula remain for so long, even after acknowledging it’s a problem.
How much knowledge and/or experience do you have with software development and server management?
Well, you can get 30/50 in 3 weeks to a month if you know how to trade and efficiently do the tasks.
This is how I did it.
8/8 devotion, 6/8 fellowship, 3/18 honor, 6/8 resilience, 7/8 valor (link not working for some reason) If you go to the HoM calculator and type in Ashen Shadowblade you can pull me up.
It took about 3 weeks not long before GW2 released. I did have a little bit of a bonus in the form of minipets my dormant account collected over the years, but it didn’t help that much. Most of my points can be acquired through trading.
And there you have the main issue:
GW1 is quite empty now, so trading will be quite hard, since there aren’t really people to trade with, which would make the Devotion part more or less impossible to do in a short amount of time.
The main issue with this is the fact that there will always be a group that “hates” something, no matter what ArenaNet do. So they simply can’t please everyone.
And btw, the JPs ARE optional.
This statement is not true.
Instead of weekend bonuses the bonuses last for an entire week & I believe some of the bonuses have been doubled from what they were back in the day.
Some of the titles have been made easier to achieve as well, for example, the drinks are now spammable. You used to have to drink at specific intervals to get full credit for your various ales.
Just the 7 hero update made the game a walk in the park compared to the old days & that was before they made most of the titles to get easier before GW2 was released.
It is still somewhat true, since some of the statues is more or less impossible to do solo (such as the Faction elite missions) due to mechanics in the fights.
Also the PvP titles (or Kurzick/Luxon for that matter) might be a bit annoying with the lack of other people playing and having to wait hours to get a match to start and so on.
You can call it tactical all you want, but its just a bad mechanic. Somebody that is condition heavy is not going to be able to time when somebody is going to go down, so it basically becomes a game of chance.
Then the condition heavy player simply isn’t good enough.
If you know what you are doing, you can estimate quite well when an enemy might go down.
Another thing to keep in mind is that looking at the fight also means checking if there are other enemies that are downed rather than just the one you are targeting, or if your side have downed players that needs rezzing and so on.
Check the wiki’s, which are based from tales that were put ingame. There is no information about her life before it, no. All the info we have, as far as I know, is that she was named Glaust once, but people started calling her Glint. There’s very little info on Glint, though some is also reveiled in some story dungeons here and there. Also in the Destiny’s Edge book.
Which is exactly my point.
There is no information at all to suggest that the post I quoted was correct or based on facts.
Aside from rallying from NPCs, my biggest beef with rallies is that it punishes downing people too quickly. Why should somebody be restored to 50% health just because I downed them immediately before somebody on my team died, but if I killed him 1/2 second slower, he gets no benefit? Seems like bad design to me.
Because that means you have to pay attention to the fight rather than just down people as fast as possible?
“Constantly seeing these stand alone islands”?
Now correct me if I am wrong but the only two living story parts that have been far away/accessible only by ship is Southsun and Bazaar. That is not even close to half the releases.
As for building it in areas more connected to the current ones: That would indeed be nice, but doing it for the sake of doing it rather than logical position is just silly.
The past Living Stories had not really made sense in completely new areas, since they are quite tightly bound to existing cities/areas.
I am sure they will add more and new areas that is connected to the existing ones, when it makes sense.
No.
There will be crosses on the map after 30 seconds.
This can however happen without people seeing it, if they do not pay attention.
I love how people always keep claiming that WvW is “losing players everyday” and yet these issues seems more and more common. Wouldn’t that rather point towards more and more people actually starting to do WvW?
And yes, the problem is partly ArenaNets fault, but not fully.
It is fully possible to be on full maps without having “unplayable lag” so clearly the issue lies not only with ArenaNet when some people experience lag.
It is very easy to claim that another server uses cheats, but they hold no weight unless there is actual proof provided.
Attack messages only gets posted if people actually know something is under attack and report it. Why assume we are cheating rather than that your server don’t scout?
Because it will require quite a bit of work from ArenaNets part, which we would rather have put into something useful?
So just because you can’t “block” an unblockable attack it makes weapons useless?
Don’t try to block Agony attacks but rather dodge/avoid them
Problem solved.
If the Elder Dragons are not evil, why do they need an army? Why do they need to corrupt other beings to begin with? Why do they manipulate other beings into doing their bidding?
If humankind is not evil, why do they need an army? Why do they need to corrupt other being to begin with? Why do they manipulate other being into doing their bidding?
So I take it, it is safe to assume that humankind is evil then?
