Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
What relevant context ? China does not have access to this version of the game. What is the context for including a national holiday for a nation that cannot play this game in this game ?
The context is that China is celebrating the new year soon. And that is rather relevant to a in-game celebration of the new year. Thus the context is relevant.
China have access to the exact same content as us. The clients are basically the same (with some extra stuff (such as VIP system) and some extra restrictions unlocked in the Chinese version).
So, how many other cultures make a big thing out of the new year? And how many of them have a large enough playerbase in Guild Wars 2 to validate spending time on creating a specific event for them?
I still wonder what they are milking.
As far as I am aware there is nothing in there that requires payment.
But it is not Canthan New Year.
It is Lunar New Year. It has no ties to Cantha so I really don’t see why it would be better if we did have Cantha.
I am fully aware that there is a country called China. I am also fully aware that they have their New Year on February 19th this year. And I don’t even know any Chinese people, but clearly I can see the context.
Being ignorant of the world outside your own country does not mean things are without context.
The whole event is china fan service only which we’re getting too because the clients were merged and why not to milk NA/EU comunity too?
And had they added it only to the Chinese client people would rage like mad about the Chinese getting an event we didn’t.
Kitten if they do, kitten if they don’t.

We will not get the first information about Specilizations on a show like Ready Up or Point of Interest.
We will get it in a blog post that is then followed by a Ready Up or a Point of Interest.
Yeah, we have permanent gold sinks, which serve their purpose just fine. These temporary ones are the unnecessary ones. Sorry for not specifying.
I am not actually sure they are.
We have had a massive influx of gold and such due to the release of Silverwastes. Thus a temporarily larger gold sink is probably needed in order to try and stabalize the economy a bit.
The wiki is edited by the community though, so take it with a grain of salt.
Also keep in mind that SAB have been on that page since it was around last time, which was over a year ago.
Wow also have options to costumize UI. It can be good workaroud of lack of color blind.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Diving_Goggles
Bug Bug:
Some accounts have access to Diving Goggles locked, even with maximum level characters.
Bug Bug:
Sometimes, using Flip or Spin just before landing will cause the character to freeze briefly, or spin continuously.
Bug Bug:
Sometimes, your character won’t go back to their normal outfit after a dive. This won’t contribute towards the achievement and can be almost impossible to resolveI repeat all 38 diving spot twice but 37/38.
I am almost certain that none of those bugs have been there since release actually.
It will be impossible to explain why it doesn’t work without knowing your specs, and as such it would be completely pointless to post on these forums if you are unwilling to give people those specs.
ArenaNet can’t look at your account-name and magically get all the information about your computer after all.
The fact that you seems to refuse help (and basically attack people that try) would also suggest that this seems more like a thread made to complain rather than a thread wanting actual help.
I read it as wvw getting demoted, even more. Even the devs don’t have time for us anymore, they want volunteers to come ‘handle’ us.
The way i see it, devs were told to engage us, devs don’t want to engage us, so came up with an ‘initiative’.
You are aware that they have specialists in PvE, Dungeons and PvP forums as well, right?
The job of the devs is to develop the product. Not interacting with the raging people on the forums.
The whole point of the specialist system is to have someone putting together a good list of things for the devs, so that they can see it in an ordered way instead of wasting time going through posts full of rage and abuse. Which is a good thing for both us and them.
Getting someone who really represents the WvW community.
I vote for lordkrall :P
I would do it myself, but we know why anet wouldnt choose me
I would not be chosen either actually.
Besides I have more than enough kitten to deal with IRL so I don’t really need to add more kitten here by painting a massive crosshair on me
He is a forum specialist.
Not a know-everything-possible-about-WvW-guy.
The whole point of the specialist program is to have people that can write up and report things from the forums to the devs, to make their job easier and thus make it more likely to get results.
I think people are misunderstanding the point of the forum specialists. Quite possibly on purpose.
3)What do you call on TS just prior to pushing into an enemy zerg?
That is of course very much depending on which server/guild/commander, so more or less impossible to answer.
Aye, people do seem to love to bring up all these masses of bugs that have been here since release, but they never seems to actually post said bugs.
You got a link to this, as far as I knew they said the chosen fractal would be implemented and the other one would be distributed later during the game (aka delayed, not canceled)
I’ll see if I can find it, but I seem to recall them being rather clear that the losing Fractal would not be created as opposed to simply coming later.
EDIT: Ah, saw your edit ^^ Thanks.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
Will we ever see the Fall of Abbadon Fractal?
Very unlikely, seeing as that would totally remove the whole point of the vote, where it was very clear that the Fractal that lost would not be made.
Ok first of all. What makes you WvW specialist ?
Your rank, server you play in, kill count, if WvW guild, tottal played hrs.
After this info we might think your some WvW guru or just a joke.
He/she/it posted an application when ArenaNet opened applications for the forum specialists and they found that he/she/it was the best alternative of those that applied?
It most likely have a grand total of nothing at all about in-game stuff but rather the abilities shown when using the forums and such. The point of the forum specialists is after all to “tag” good ideas and such to make it easier for the devs to find them.

One could of course wait until we actually have an official beta and can see how the system works before complaining about it.
ArenaNet does seems to do real betas after all, so if people find things that doesn’t work out well they will change it.
This is not progression since it dosent make your character stronger. But i just thought i could lvl up at least 1 character of every profession lvl 80 full exotic (since i cannot get ascended at the moment). Thats progression, im happy now.
Ah, so you basically want GW2 to be a game GW2 was never meant (nor advertised) to be?
PoI have never been about giving us a bunch of new information. It is about showing us what we have already learned from other sources.
This was a PoI specifically for Masteries, so I find it very wierd that you would expect them to talk about specializations or the Revenant.
I seem to recall there being something about security.
And what should they add in the store to cover the losses from removing the optional gambling?
I’ve always disliked that the Black Lion weapon skins were locked behind the RNG gate. I’m sure I’d have bought more of them (and thus more gems) if they were simply on sale for a fixed rate. Needing to play the RNG game to get them is simply not fun.
Which is why they are tradable and thus can be bought on the TP. No RNG involved.
I did make a point of comparing it to the difference between Japan, China and Korea though.
While when just comparing stuff on its own it might not be considered very similar, but when comparing to something that is much more different it becomes somewhat similar.
I would also not be so swift to join Eastern Europe and especially not Turkey to the “western world”.
And what I meant by the “blend of Western culture” comment was that blending cultures is not a bad thing. We mix all sorts of Western influences together, and nobody has a problem with it. Even though I know some Germans who still feel past history loom over them, or European relatives who are still bitter about 20th century events.
But that is just the thing: We don’t have the same kind of culture, issues and history as the Asian countries, and as such it is a much bigger deal for them than for us here in the western world.
It is also the fact that most western countries are actually rather similar compared to the difference between Japan, China and Korea.
As I said earlier, Kryta is a mix of all things Western. And if mixing Asian cultures (which why they don’t include India is beyond me) is a bad thing, then why not just pick one? Like, only theme it after China?
Because the western world is not the same as the eastern world? Completely different cultures and such.
Mixing some culture doesn’t mean they have to mix every single culture. There are massive amounts of different cultures in that general area.
Because that was not how Cantha was back in the days, and it would be rather weird to suddenly revisit it with it being completely different (such as a whole other culture) from before?
BvB as in Blob vs Blob, the system that a miniscule part of the community have started in WvW and claimed the name GvG for.
My post was directed specifically to the OP though.
The guild vs guild system in GW1 didn’t allow the whole guild to participate at once either, and yet it is regarded one of the best PvP modes every by some people.
I would say it sounds rather much like GvG.
But I assume you are talking about the BvB that people have created in this game and have decided to call GvG?
I suppose I must have magically gotten the knowledge somehow when I did the event back during Dragon Bash then, because I didn’t really have all that much issues understanding what was going on and how it worked.
Of course you shouldn’t have to go to the wiki, and clearly you don’t. But if you have issues understanding what is going in in the game going into the wiki might help with it.
Were was the PvP side of all the Living Story events?
Not all events have to have content for all parts of the game.
You get a ram token for every 10th win.
I agree that it does sound like you would get them more often (it refers to getting them by winning in Dragon Arena or something like that) and that there probably should be some slight reward for winning, but it is possible that it is simply a bug.

It is also quite easy to simply test what the skill does if one does not have the time to read what they say.
100 shouldn’t really be all that bad. You can get 10 or so in a match if you are good, thus it would be about 10 matches.
The issue is that people feel like they should get everything the very first day.
EDIT: Removed the easily part since people seems to get hung up on that.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
^ The skills says exactly what they do actually, and the start of the match shows you what the point of it is.
i think that guy linked 10 trophies
and you didnt notice it
Nope, there are multiple trophies.
One for 88c each
One for 88s each
One for 8g 88s 88c each.
Ah, yes I saw someone getting something worth multiple gold per each, but have personally only gotten those worth 88s from all of mine, so wasn’t sure where the other dropped.
2: You get vendor-trash in each of the envelopes that sells for 88s each, so you almost get all the gold spent right back.
What did we have Saturday?
Stronghold teaser.
I feel weird, everything pointed towards the crystal desert and possible Elona, and instead Anet comes with some part of the maguma jungle that no one was expecting.( Or even wanting)
There is very little that pointed toward the Crystal Desert actually.
People see what they want to see, but basically the only thing that pointed towards CD was Glint, who is no longer there.
On the other hand basically everything else pointed towards going towards Maguuma, where Mordremoth quite clearly have its based.
I would say that basically everyone that actually played the living story expected to go deeper into Maguuma as opposed to you claiming no one expecting it.
I’d like to see an official Anet response to this.
What would/could they say?
This is not something that (at this time) have something directly to do with their game.
Since it is quite unlikely that the expansion will be released within a month or so, they simply spread out the information so as to give us something to do/read while we wait.
We had two blog posts last week, which makes me think we will have another two this week. We also know that we will have a special PoI tomorrow that talks about (and shows) Masteries.
I thought one of the selling points of this game was being able to turn it off for a couple weeks/months and when you returned you wouldn’t be falling behind or have some kind of consequence. No pressure to log in, you know? Seems like most of you have lost your way…
The selling point was that you could leave for a couple of months and then come back without having to grind a new set of gear in order to play.
That have not changed.
They have however never in any way or form claimed that you will always be able to get every single thing ever released in the game for free.
Dis! Hoping its tonight, must admit its been terribly quiet (ANET and speculation community), but some of us know its coming!
:P
Well, we do know that the last day to unlock Point of No Return is on the 24th, which incidentally also is a Tuesday, so it is rather likely that we will have something then at least.
Maybe, but unlikely, seeing as time-wise the expansion starts just after Point of no Return ends, so it would make little sense to see changes to the world.
I never said it was confusing at all. I UNDERSTAND the system. I am not new to mmo’s in game and out of game stores, or any of this. I stated that if they removed the gate they might get better sales. And how can i look at something in the “wrong opinion”? Opinions aren’t right or wrong, that’s why they are opinions. My viewpoint can be wrong however.
But will it be enough more sales to cover the income that they get with the current system?
That is rather unlikely.
People that are fully defeated should WP and run back.
Simply as that.
Having people spend time to rez someone that is fully defeated is silly, especially considering that those people quite often end up dying themselves. And as such the event itself loses out on the damage/support from that player for quite some time.
I’m assuming this xpac is coming now for a much needed cash boost because the living story is not doing the job to keep the ship afloat.
Yeah… except for the fact that they have worked on the expansion for over a year, so long before they knew if the Living Story would work in the long term or not.
Would defeat the purpose of them though.
Hopefully never.
You are aware that the original dye system was even worse than the system we had at launch, right?
I really don’t see how the “gear grind” would have anything at all to do with Nexon either tbh. It is not like the gear grind can be bypassed by using the store.
Claw and Shatterer are very clearly stated Ranks rather than the same creature. The one you kill today is not the same that you kill tomorrow, it just have the same rank (and thus name).
Tequatl is most likely the same, seeing as it is a name given by the Hylek and it is unlikely that they could see much difference between big dragon champion X and big dragon champion Y. Just look over the skies of Arah, there are multiple identical champions hanging around there.
I suppose so. But it is more a matter of lore vs gameplay I would say.
People only ever being able to do each dungeon once would not really work out all that well after all.
Because putting a main opponent on a set schedule makes it impossible for people to finish up their story on-demand, which is most likely not something that they would want.
Yes, they had to scale it down a bit. But adding it to the open world as opposed to a personal instance would require a even larger downscaling, so it would basically end up being the same size as Claw of Jormag or something like that. Which would just be silly.
