Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Are you sure you fulfill the minimum requirements?
The post also seems quite pointless, seeing as you don’t really supply much information and does not seem to be interested in getting it fixed.
I am betting it is a rather small part of their income. Their 1% whales would have bought most of theirs by now, and new players were scared off by the horrible NPE. Their weekly sales and new flavours are what make them their money.
Yeah, except for the fact that the vast majority of the people shouting about the “horrible NPE” are veteran players that knew how the system was before, thus had something to compare to.
Based on actual in-game experience however I see plenty of new people running around.
And yes, their weekly sales do indeed make them money. But it is also rather silly to claim that they make no money off bank and bag slots.
You also still refuse to come up with what they should add to the store instead in order to replace the loss of income from removing the gem cost of bank and bag slots.
Claiming that it would not impact business is quite silly.
Removing a rather large part of their income (and yes, I would say that it is rather likely that bank and bag-space is a rather large part of their gem store sales) WILL impact the income.
There is no company in their right mind that would remove one source of income without replacing it with another source that gives as much or more income.
But why would one of them be possible while the other wouldn’t?
What is so unique with the Caladbolg’s aura that it could not be replicated with magic?
If you can get a sword that is constantly on fire I am quite certain that you can also get some little flowers or whatever to fly around a tree branch.
And yes, the FDS are actually lore-based. They are created as replicas of Magdaer and Sohothin.
Is it planned to release together with HoT, or before/after?
Highly unlikely that you will be able to answer, but worth a shot ^^
The difference is that PPK didn’t actually remove anything from the game. This would.
It would also make one of the main Warrior Elites in WvW completely useless, since you wouldn’t be able to Rally the downed people as an example.
While the idea could be interesting, it might also have a completely opposite effect to what people hope for. Like people not engaging other groups at all for instance.
So basically: “I can’t do things, therefore they suck”?
There is more or less nothing that is completely impossible to avoid in the open world.
The original Guild Wars does not have a Gem Store under a lottery system. In fact, for a long time it didn’t even have a store.
For a long time?
The in-game store in GW1 was released on July 28, 2006, that is just a few months after Factions and before both Nightfall and Eye in the North.
There was also that little fact that you could outright buy power and could only pay with real money, that people always seems to overlook.
It is a new game mode.
I would say it is more likely that the main reason for 5v5 is due to the game being balanced around 5v5.
By god-created weapons, I thought you meant all the other legendaries. As for the FDS, it’s just a fiery sword. Apparently they can make those.
As for Zommoros making a Caladbolg, maybe the Pale Tree’s power is beyond his capabilities. There’s no evidence to state either way.
But the FDS are exact replicas of two potentially god-forged weapons. So why would it be possible to make replicas of those, but at the same time being impossible to make replicas of a tree-branch?

Everyone needs a talking robot that comments on everything you do
On a more serious note I would go with:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Copper-Fed_Salvage-o-Matic
And the unlimited gathering tools when they are available.
When will be the next election? no 1 likes kiel im pretty sure it was rigged, WE WANT EVON GNASHBLADE
Ironically enough during the elections themselves people kept claiming that it was indeed rigged, but in favor of Evon.
And how many lesbians do you personally know?
Sure, many are quite feminine, but it also rather usual for at least one of them to behave more “manly”.
The Kasmeer/Jory relationship felt quite normal and real to me, at least when comparing to real-life lesbian couples I know.
As for them hiring lesbian writers: I am actually quite sure that ArenaNet have both homosexual, bisexual and transexual people working there, so it is rather likely that they have quite good access to knowledge of those kind of relationships.
Just because you feel like women must be feminine doesn’t mean that is how it is in the real world, even less so in a fantasy one.
Not to mention the whole deal about who decides what is considered feminine. It all depends on culture and such.
Both number 1 and number 5 have been confirmed to change.
Number 1 with HoT and number 5 is currently being worked on.
Alright, so lets say that bag and bank-space starts costing gold instead of gems:
What should ArenaNet add to the store in order to counter the losses from no longer selling bank and bag space?
Technically, there would be another character other than the Pale Tree that can create a Caladbolg…
Malyck’s tree.
Indeed, and any other potential Tree out there in the deeper parts of Maguuma. So potentially there could be a rather large amount of “real” Caladbolgs created ^^
Alright OP.
What Feature NEEDS to be added before the expansion?
Without answering that, it would seem rather silly to claim that there needs to be a Feature Patch.
I’d be surprised to see a feature pack before HoT. For whatever reason Anet struggles to create new content. I see Anet riding the “expansion is coming!!” wave all the way until it comes out.
Why would ArenaNets supposed struggle to create new content have to do with a Feature Pack though?
Feature Packs doesn’t add content, they add Features.
There is a lore-supported reason for this, though: Zommoros.
What does Zommoros have to do with the FDS? Especially since there is no way or form that he can give you one of them.
And couldn’t he also supply you with a replica of Caladbolg in that case?
While it is indeed a rather useful thing, clearly the game have survived and worked quite well for two years without it, so clearly it is fully possible to play without having said system.
Is this really something that they should put as a high priority thing, when it is fully possible to enjoy the game without it? Or should they rather focus on things that actually need fixing?
The name Guild Wars is based on lore not game-play.
We do however get a Guild Ladder with HoT and Stronghold, which looks quite a bit like the Guild versus Guild mode of Guild Wars 1.
Interestingly enough there are more actual guild wars in this game than there ever was in the original.

I would say it is quite safe to say that we will have at least one blog post per week until PAX East and potentially even after that, depending on if they have managed to do all the deep dives before or not.
Which would of course basically remove the whole point of it. Which thus makes it rather unlikely.
Just keep in mind that this is not specific for ArenaNet.
Basically every other company would do exactly the same in this situation, simply due to the fact that a charge-back hurts them more than they hurt you.
This is standard procedure basically everywhere.
If a bank (or customer) do a charge-back the card (and account) will get banned. This is simply due to the fact that Chargebacks actually costs ArenaNet money.
Yes, it sucks that it was due to an issue out of your hands, but if they start making exceptions they will have more problems than losing single customers.
We would also have a completely different Dye system (that was even worse than the original character-bound one.)
We would not have account-bound stuff but rather have basically everything Soulbound.
We would not have Edge of the Mists.
We would have the exact same borderlands as before.
We would have the exact same PvP system as at launch.
And so on.
If they had only ever followed their plan the game would be completely different from what we have now.
I would also like to point out that we actually have multiple of those things you claim that we would have, with two more coming with HoT.
It is also rather funny that you talk about precursor crafting and new legendaries, seeing as those two specifically was something being created due to people demanding it, ergo ArenaNet going against their original plan.
Not to mention SAB, which were only really planned as a April Fools joke but brought back due to players demand.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
They “had” planned… but Plans change everyday with Anet. Just b.c it was Planned means NOTHING to anet at all!!!!!
That is NOT something unique to ArenaNet.
Every company ever have things plans and every company ever changes those plans.
Would you rather that they always did exactly as they planned and completely ignored everything the community asked for?
EDIT: I forgot a word.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
And yet it would be quite weird as well. Walking around in a camp full of happiness and sunshine and then join the instances where it is suddenly completely destroyed with dead people everywhere and so on.
I believe it is also a matter of technical stuff, they can’t have multiple versions of the same map up, and the instances uses the same maps as the open world (which can be seen in the Personal Story in LA, which looks rather funny ^^).
Maybe it is more likely that they will listen to people and change stuff based on feedback (as they have done before) if people gives said feedback in a nice and constructive way rather than raging or talking about how useless ArenaNet are?
Just a thought.
But what can they say?
If they say: “We are looking into it” people will just rage about them taking too long.
If they say: “We are making changes to the system” or “We are returning the system to its original form” people will rage about them changing it because they like the current system.
If they say: “We are happy with the current system and based on our metrics people are doing them so we are not going to change them” people will rage like mad for them not “listening to the playerbase”.
No matter what they say there will just be rage, so better not say anything at all.
That would still present the issue that new people join the game later on.
It would make very little sense to play the story about Mordremoths awakening and all the terror we hear about around the world with vines and deadly creatures spreading around killing everything in their path, without those things actually happening, simply due to someone starting playing later.
That is a bit of the issue with open world games. Which crowd should they cater to?
So you basically want them to cater a solution specifically around you, without you telling them anything at all?
I can just as easily claim that it is all your fault and that you are outright lying. I don’t even need to supply any sort of proof for it, it just is like that.
Well, the fact that you completely refuse to share details that could identify the problem would suggest that you are quite aware that the issue most likely lies with you rather than ArenaNet.
I’ll just leave this here:
And yet thousands of players can run around with exact replicas of supposedly god-crafted weapons without anyone having any sort of issues with it.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
One can twist and turn everything in the game to fit a certain agenda.
I find it highly unlikely that this is what it is meant to suggest.
Everything will get “too easy” sooner or later, when people start learning exactly how to do it.
During the first weeks or so after the new Tequatl was released there were loads of posts demanding a nerf because it was “impossible”.
Two weeks means that there are quite many days where they could give us a blog-post on the specializations.
Lets say they will do one for each profession. That would mean 9 blog posts. There is plenty of time for that before PAX (which is in 3 weeks, not 2).
Why do people that complain about LS payment always ignore the basic facts that there are multiple ways to access it, the majority which requires a grand total of no real money payment whatsoever?
1: Buy the episodes with gems bought with real money ($2,5 per episode, that is less than a coffee)
2: Buy the episodes with gems bought with gold.
3: Join someone that have the episodes unlocked and play through them that way.
You even point out that you did see the emails about the episodes, which CLEARLY states that you can login within two weeks to get them for free.
So…tell me…how can I do these given the options that I have and my character?
Change to your higher level character and do them?
Or do one of the PvP/WvW ones?
But what can they do without you supplying information?
It is like how I would go to the doctor and say I was sick, but refuse to tell him the symptoms and then rage about him/her/it not giving me any treatment.
The advantage is that with larger numbers comes better tactics, more options, more build diversity and less stale sameness.
Except that it could also end up being the complete opposite.
With larger numbers you could get a set-up that would be basically impossible to kill, and as such nothing would really happen and the match would just go on forever.
Edit: Forgot to mention about the issue of new players just joining the game. Guild Wars 2 is supposed to be a free to play game. But for people who are just joining, it isn’t. They get their personal storyline for free, but not anything else, save for quests, pvp, and wvw. For them it is a pay-to-play game. They must pay for each episode. Yes, it’s 2.50 USD per episode, but it’s still not free to play, as ArenaNet had said it would be. I remember they said, “Free to play and always will be.” But it’s not, is it? Not for everyone!
The game have NEVER been advertised as Free to Play.
The fact that you have to pay for your account shows that at once.
They have also never said that every single thing ever released will be free.
And claiming they get nothing and then pointing out that they get 95% of the game seems rather weird as well.
The ONLY thing they do not get is the STORY parts of the Living Story. They still get all the new areas, all the new Dynamic Events and most of the new rewards.
You are also disregarding the fact that have been brought up multiple times in this thread: There are multiple ways to access the story quests.
1: Buy them with gems bought with real money.
2: Buy them with gems bought with gold.
3: Join someone that have them unlocked.
That means that 66% of the ways to do it involves no real money invested whatsoever.
I would say that if you are playing Guild Wars 2 for the rewards your are playing it wrong.
Keep in mind that ArenaNet does real betas. And as such it is quite possible that they will change this if enough people give compelling arguments against it (which seems rather hard here on the forums).
Might I inquire as to why all of you that complain about the choice didn’t apply for the position yourselves? Since clearly you all seems to feel that you are much more qualified for the position it would only make sense for ArenaNet to chose you instead, right?
But we still get the same releases.
There have, as far as I am aware, never been any release since launch in China that wasn’t applied to both clients.
As for the mini dragon I believe that is for getting a certain VIP rank, rather than as a reward for this specific festival.
It doesn’t have anything to do with Stronghold, and as such posting it there would be off-topic and thus worth moderation.
I would say that it is unlikely that we will get much information about this here until we have seen the deep dives about the specializations, since we right now doesn’t really know anything about it and as such it would be more or less impossible to discuss it.
