“Entry fee”? “Trial period”? Yeah no guild is that important, though I suppose maybe some guilds are that full of themselves.
It’s good of them to let me know who I should avoid or rip the kitten out of in game though.
As for it not being a scheme/scam, it certainly fits my definition of one. Even if you were to have fees and trial periods, not giving their deposit back if it turns out they won’t be a good fit for the guild is just so slimy.
Yep, after reading a “10g deposit” it’s immediately what I interpreted. And no guilds I’ve been in have requested such. A trial period is understandable sure, but a fee is too demanding but not returning it then makes them too greedy. Sucks for peeps who’s been jipped and couldn’t comprehend what they doing.
Tier 3 gives you perma haste while in cities and some other things. But in the end, you’ll still have have enough mastery points left over even after you’ve unlocked all masteries.
Isn’t there also a reward track for Crystalline Ore in wvw? Could always try that as an alternative if you keep getting in deserted maps.
Wrong game, mate. Guild Wars has always had no subscription fee, that’s their model, it’s their unique shtick, and that’s why so many filthy casuals keep popping gems and buying expansions. Make it a monthly fee, even a small one, and you’re going to outright lose a huge player base.
An active player who buys gems in batches a few times a year is better than a player who quits and goes to another game.
Pretty much all of this.
Plus who’s to say “if” after it goes subscription, that it won’t eventually go P2W? If this game went subscription, there’s a majority of the player base gone, as mentioned above, but then many people would then view this game as some of other P2W games that eventually ran dry. I’d hate to have to abandon this game if it went that route with so much time invested, and I’m sure others as well.
The key points of this game and its predecessor are/were:
- No subscription to play after initial purchase to play the game(s).
- Play anytime, take a break, and come back anytime.
- Any missed goodies in the gemstore will eventually return
- If you weren’t active during a week of newly released content, a small fee will allow you to play it. Small but fair price.
- Continuous updates weekly (usually), even if very little.
I’d rather leave it at that. There’s many people (surely more) who help revenue with gemshop purchases. I don’t even want to get into numbers, but if a massive chunk of the playerbase were to get disgusted and leave because of some kind of subscription just to play, it would hit hard and really hurt both Anet and the game, then I’m sure there’d be noticeable down sizing to accommodate income.
So many people are willing to throw money for them to bring more Cantha content into the game, but well over 4 years since launch and barely any bleeps regarding any canthan content. And myself as many others agree it was one of the most appealing places in game. Big sigh. Elona’s cool ‘n all but I’m more drawn to oriental culture.
There will always be a degree of clipping with armor in this game. Regardless if its mix-match or a uniform set. And really I’m not all that shocked to find out about it, because with all the clipping that already exists, people still insist on having ‘no capes/cloaks’ because of the very issue. Yet with some of the most supposedly prestige armor in-game, clipping occurs.
Hello, while working on a couple of my characters between yesterday and today, I’ve noticed that this skin – https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bloodstone_Visage_Skin – wouldn’t show in the preview window.
I’ve tried checking it on 2 of my characters the past 48 hours, but nothing. I’ve even asked fellow guildies if they can preview it, they said no. I also asked map chat, and got the same response.
Anyways, I hope it can get fixed as it’s a nice skin. Cheers.
I hope they don’t add this ever. In fact they should remove the whole thing from the game files to make these threads appear less frequently.
Whole schoolgirl fetish is kinda disturbing and in my opinion does not have a place in this game. Asian games are more suitable for that kind of stuff. It’s more tolerated in those.
Maybe try suggesting some other type of children’s clothes that don’t have the same “bad reputation” as this if you want to dress your characters as kids. Never seen that suggestion before so it would be fresh too.
Just a lil fyi, Guild Wars/2 by Anet is a subsidiary of NCSoft based in (south korea). Which would make this game and its predecessor GW, partially asian in origin.

Please consider bringing back the following items during your March sale…
Ice Encasement Outfit ( https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ice_Encasement_Outfit )
I second this, or third… but anyways I missed when it was on the gemstore and been seeing more people running around with it wondering where the aura was possibly coming from. So I’d like to see this back sometime.
What is this SAB you’re talking about? Didn’t play it, won’t miss it.
I said the exact same from the time SAB first released up until this season. But I decided to give it a shot, finished both W1 and 2 metas successfully. But missed out on some of the weps. So gonna have to wait next time.
You’d be surprised what you might end up getting into in later years.
Whaaa engi???? Why? First time i heard that… thief yeah they are hated by all. But engi too now???
Engi has currently strongest proven condi damage of all classes and a party wide condi damage buff. So I doubt engies would get the boot in a raid squad. Unless the leader’s a moron.
I always see raiders mention needing a condi engi or a real good condi class. So I would question the authenticity of this previous post.
From what I have heard Guardian, Thief and Engi aren’t allowed into raid parties.
I’d much rather change a current class as opposed to race. A race change would be a drastic change to the personal story, whereas a class change would simply (loosely) restrict a character from using its current available armor(s)/weps. And change some dialogue options.
More so when cosmetics is in mind.
You can always save and purchase Frostfang, whereas you can’t get Astralaria any other way except to craft it. So, I chose to use all my hard earned mats to make an axe that money can’t straight out buy.
Update
I figured out how to get it. It took a little playing around and reading around online, but found out what to do. This can either be deleted or marked as resolved.
Hello, there’s a topic that addresses this same problem, but it’s from 3 years ago and I’m having the same problem. I’m playing on infantile, and skipping the hillbillies but I’m still unable to get the achievement for this.
I saw there may have been a solution in that 3 year old topic, but the link looks like it’s been deleted.
Is there any way to get this? I only need 11 more to finish this W2 sab meta.
Thanks in advanced for any help on this.
Inb4nocapes b/c too many clipping issues regardless.
But on a serious note, the game released a little over 4 years ago and having the system/resources to make the base game as is – you’d think capes wouldn’t be a problem.
It’s already a given that some armor styles will look odd on some races, like hoods on charr and asura with their head sizes, but still they have hoods. I’ve even mentioned before that some sets that are supposed to look uniform actually clip with itself.
So there should be zero excuse or reason aside from resource distribution, why having capes in-game would add on to existing problems.
TLDR: There’s armor peices that already looks weird on some races, some matching armor sets that still clip. And after 4 years of the game being out with 1 expansion, how are capes still not viable? And of course you can’t please everyone, some will use capes, some people won’t.
Just block and ignore. If you aren’t using any illicit 3rd party programs then you’re clean and it’s no one else’s business but yours and Anets. No one else’s opinion matters, and they can accuse you all day long, still doesn’t make you a botter.
Let them falsely grief and whine about it, it’s their problem(s) not yours.
It could be brought back, but more likely as a memorial site to the zephryite master(s). Lore wise, that would/should be an amendable tweak. It might not be as upbeat and cheery as it was before, but it’d be a memorial festival nonetheless.
Same with with the SAB explosive finisher, been waiting near forever for them to re-release it. So, thank you anet. It’s hands down one of my favorite finishers. \o/ Gonna nuke some toxic alliance when my toon’s lvl 80 :P
These complaints are why they made the Shared Inventory Slots.. you’re really not gonna get anything better
Exactly this.
For endgame, you’ll get the response from many people that it’s all down to cosmetics and “fashion wars”. Endgame is whatever you want to make it out to be. It can be anywhere to farming and accumulating wealth ingame, being proactive with a guild, learning to be more competitive, or finishing collections ingame – which would rely on a steady income of gold ingame.
There’s even starting new characters and stepping out of your comfort zone to try out new builds that might interest you.
I personally try to come on when I’m able to have free time from work and relax from the day by playing and doing dailies or participating in whatever meta is currently going on.
And for your 2nd question, I’d lean more heavily towards necro or engineer, or any range build and it’s not limited to those two classes, I have a combo build guardian/dragonhunter that uses scepter/torch then closes in and incapacitates with hammer before dropping heavy hitting traps.
Just gotta experiment a bit and look at what all classes are capable of.

But still, even 1k gold is alot to some. It feels nice knowing its in a secured vault.
There’s already screen name + pw which is first line of protection, then email and the optional SMS (text) login authorization. Someone would have to get through all those and bruteforce your phone/number to allow themselves access to your account. And really they’d need a decent pc/programs for such things.
Actually, that is not true. Someone just has to call Customer Service and convince them to unlock the account. With people sharing all their information in social media, its pretty easy for someone to find out enough personal information about you to convince a company that they are you. This is much easier than brute force hacking and happens all the time.
That’d be their fault for sharing so much information about themselves over social meda then. Anyone who’s concerned about their own security online would go through great lengths to limit any opportunities.
Still not barring someone with sole intent on breaching security measures. But if ‘said person’ had made past purchases in-game. I’m sure Customer Service would seek better means (i.e, card info, etc.) to assure that whom ever is looking to access an account has ‘that’ information, and compound it with any other info to cover themselves to prove it isn’t a fluke attempt to gain access.
It’d just be poor security service and protocol to believe someone trying to convince customer service that said person is someone they’re not without sufficient information provided.
But still, even 1k gold is alot to some. It feels nice knowing its in a secured vault.

Someone would have to get through all those and bruteforce your phone/number to allow themselves access to your account. And really they’d need a decent pc/programs for such things. Also it’s pretty much a lottery for them. Unless they personally know you ingame and what you have, it really isn’t worth hoping for a big payout by hacking accounts.
There’s a lot of ways someone could attempt to, but if they don’t know what you have – why go through all the trouble? Now if someone was flaunting their wealth on the forums or ingame, then sure they’re just inviting it. Anonymity is your best defense anywhere online.
It’s not a Magikarp reference?
GG putting two and two together, Water Dragon confirmed.
Just because melee class isn’t so good in one game, doesn’t mean they’re bad in another game. That’s just comparing apples to oranges. And both are two different games.
Warriors or any class for that matter is only as good as who is playing the character.
I have a few warriors out of 11-12 characters total, and they do have decent survivability and very high mobility. They also hit particularly hard if played well.
Many people would recommend playing that class before trying any other.
I’d be interested in seeing a Comet or Meteorite-looking glider. One that when used, completely engulfs the character in flames. Just enough flames with enough opacity to still see the character gaining velocity during descent.
Could also be called a Shooting Star Glider.

Karka vs. Quaggan
I’d say its monstrous attribute over quaggans fits the bill just fine. They could’ve also had Krait and Largos, but ehh… anything that’s not a quaggan works.
Capes/cloaks will never be added. And I’d say not waste your hopes for “that one day” because extremely likely that day will never come.
This many
It’s 1 of 2 things, either people not knowing to use cc (or what it is) – OR – simply not enough people; potentially both.
See what happens when one messes with Bloodstones?
Beware!
They are very spooky indeed:)
it would be cool if Anet was doing this on purpose and the Blood stone magic is breaking down reality in the game world.
Do you guys think our characters are not alright? That maybe hanging out in bloodstone fen has messed with our character’s minds?
That would be an interesting twist.
It’d definitely be a fair reason/excuse as to why our toons randomly scream while in Bloodstone Fen.
I keep seeing a miniature Thoumanova Anomoly, appears and is gone in a flash.
And same, I been seeing those and other such apparitions in other maps.
Even though i agree that there is more fire stuff (and tbh i like fire)
I’ll mention a few other elemental stuff.water armor: zodiac, leyline (its a nice mix looking like water+air-ish?) winters pressence shoulder.
water weapons: corrupted, kodan, shiverstone, frostfang, moonson, jormags breath, leyline, winter’s.Air armor: leyline, wind+lightning catcher (backpack), zephyrite wind+lightning helm.
Air weapons: tempest, wings of dwayna, leyline, fractal, Metrorlogicus, bolt, mystic/inquest (a bit tech looking but also lightning fille), chaos.Earth: pretty much anything sylvari or similar.
I wouldn’t consider the Zodiac armors to be or show any resemblance to water elemental. They have similar if not the same astral/space/star/constellation design as Astralaria and Eternity.
Leyline armors resemble more rock/stone/earthy armors just lightly magic infused. Because look at the leyline weapon skins, there’s no water; only rock formations similar to how fractal weapons move/float.
Raids are the best pve content the game has to offer. I want more of it
“Best” is completely subjective. “Most challenging” would be more appropriate to describe it as many peeps don’t or wouldn’t agree.
And until the day I’m able to find a group to get into it, it also isn’t the ‘best’ content on my list.
I like both games, but no. Prefer to keep them 2 different games. It would completely break what’s left of the immersion of this game.
Agree with OP, the moment they added aerial capabilities via gliders and with Bloodstone Fen > aerial evading and offensive abilities; it was only a matter of time and they should take things a step further.
Stopping with it all would be only half-kittening with an already cool concept/idea. And those are extreme turnoffs when gaming. So being able to have a wider array of abilities with lift capability would be really nice.
I glanced at a comment/suggestion one of my guildies made ingame the other night.
Best suggested way to start the collection for these 3 books would be to go about it as a scavenger hunt, running into each page without a guide. Then wait till you’re over 50% to completion, then use the guide for the rest. It’s what I tried and it made it feel finishing it all made it go much quicker.
Turns out I was missing some easily missable spots.
If enemies had gliders, I could only imagine potentially epic dogfights and aerial combats. It’d look epic. :P
Can we downgrade these form “mastery” points to “casual” points? I thought the whole point was to have to work towards them and learn to master aspects of the game. Now they throw so many at you that you just get plopped in front of it is just not fun to get them anymore.
At least the raid mastery point additions took a few hours work to learn the fights.
I agree with this suggestion. Might as well delete mastery points from the game because it is so easy to get enough for everything, especially HoT masteries. And the exp is even easier to get. I think the whole mastery system is a failure at the current implementation.
Not the things you unlock with masteries, but masteries do not feel like you accomplished everything since Anet basically throws everything at you for barely any effort. Being masterly lvl 170 is just as meaningless as being lvl 80 pre HoT.The same problem exist with legendaries. They are so common and easy to make that the name legendary is missleading.
I’m not sure most of the playerbase plays 6, 8, 10 hours a day. Not playing for extended amounts of time, they may not be so adept, and it may actually be more challenging and time-consuming to ‘accomplish everything’.
Thus, I hope (and am pretty sure) ArenaNet designs content with more than the outliers in mind.
I spend only a small fraction of my time on stuff like legendaries. So even if you only play 10h a week you can make several legendaries per year, which iis why you see so many people with multiple legendaries.
And getting the essential masteries is just a matter of a month (starting with a fresh account), too, even for the really casual players.
It is really a problem with GW2, there are hardly any long term goals/tasks other than time gated stuff like legendary armor which we cannot even finish yet.
Anet released a new map and there were people after 2 days who already unlocked all the achievements and rewards the map has to offer. That does not sound like sustainable MMO content at all.
Maybe that is why a lot of people do not log in for much other than patch days, I can see it in my friendlist where the activity sharply declines again after every patch because they already finished everything. The game needs more grind.Cool story, I’ve been playing HoT since launch and I’ve yet to max my masteries. So yeah if you want to pour all your game time on one thing, yes you can max things get X item in no time, but if you like to do a little of this and that, it will take you a lot longer, just because you can do things in X amount of time will not mean everyone can.
Adding more points to make things easier for new and people who are bad at some content will not devalue your work. It seems to me they are adding new tracks, and sone will be needed for the LW3, so ANet is making sure not to lock people out of the story, it was a point of contention with HoT’s launch, they probably don’t want to do that again. But then the so called “Elite” or “Hard Core” players don’t want people to be able to just play the game. Ho no, everyone must play the way they do because anything else makes them less elite for some bizarre reason only they truly understand. If you feel the game needs more grind, and ANet are very against grind, maybe this is not the game for you, or you could just accept the game for what it is, not what you want it to be.
Well said. My thoughts exactly.
More options only adds more possibilities, which leads to longer playability. Anyone who would rather see the opposite (elitists), might want to find a more competitive game if they hate seeing people catch up to them.
Considering I suck at adventures, I’m rather glad there are more points being added.
My thoughts exactly.
There’s some adventures I can never get any higher than silver and don’t go spewing that L2P rubbish, some things you’re good at, some you aren’t and I’ve long since accepted it. So more options is always a plus; otherwise you’re only limiting yourself.
Same as the ^ others, keep it as it is. If it’s not something you enjoy doing, no one’s pulling your leg to do it.
Supposedly there was a Phoenix Glider up on the Gem Store, though it wasn’t for very long. Is there any chance that it will make a comeback like the White Wings Glider?
Yea, it should return sometime. Though when is undetermined. Return items usually come back unannounced, so just keep watch of the forums and in-game.
This sounds really interesting and has some very interesting ideas for new fights. However I think that making it a fight against Zhaitan breaks the story way to much as he is already dead. Even if it was a minion of his, it would still brake story.
That said making this a world boss fight for another dragon would be very interesting.
If it were made an actual open world event, it wouldn’t differentiate much from the Mouth of Mord meta fight. You defeat him in story just as well as you had Zhaitan.
Just the meta boss fight for the core game is missing it’s boss fight. They could/should also look into adding the Marionette as a boss fight for Lornar’s Pass as a timer event. Many people liked that fight as well.
I’d love for them to add this beard style :P
Chris Kael’s beard from 5FDP.
It’s pretty much the same way why the ele doesn’t get a weapon swap.
Because the engi has a numerous array of kits it can swap between, just as the ele can swap between elemental attunements.
It’s really best just to experiment each class yourself and base it on how your gameplay. And ask yourself, was it smooth? did you die much? are you able to make changes or adapt per situation(s)?
I have 1 of each class and that’s roughly how I had to go about it myself. But as I only have 1 of each ascended armor set, I’ll usually just rotate each class according to what I’m in the mood for playing.
And I’ve pretty much had to do the lot of that without much insight aside from visual observations.
Would be awesome! I would rebuy both for this.
C’mon Anet…(Singsong tone) “You can show us the world…”
Also…
“Surrender Dorothy!” (Madly cackles)
PS: Black and white wings need the new wing look Gold and Falcon etc wings have… at least as a buy-able option.
For the broom, I was thinking more along the lines of Quidditch re-enactments.
I think that bringing back items just slaps many of us who have been loyal, playing the game for a long time and in some cases, worked hard to get limited special items.
The aviator glasses – it is (WAS) my sorta “trademark” in the guild as I bought them the day the game was released. Now, everyone has them.
I am sure my fused weapon skins are next as there are TWELVE (12) vendors in the next cage where we all buy skins that for now is locked…..
I guess “watering down” the game is just part of a company working too hard to squeeze out a little more cash from players. I understand a company must do what is best for the stockholders – but why diminish the game and its future?
There was another thread like this by someone who had the similar thoughts. A good number of veteran players along with myself already dismissed exclusivity within this game as it tends to generate unneeded negativity among older/newer players. Plus Anet mentioned in a past post that all skins will sooner or later make a return.
I along with many others have played since launch or beta and have also shown same degrees of “loyalty”. So having a item/skin never return again just so someone can be a special snowflake is no excuse.
I have one and only one suggestion, and I make this suggestion out of pure desperate need. PERMANENT TRANSMUTATION CHARGE I don’t make enough money to keep buying them, and I don’t get enough of them from PvP… I am a pretty flower and must win at Fashion Wars 2. I would save up and pay $50 for this seriously! :O
I strongly second this. Even if it was completely RNG based and sellable on the TP such as the other permanent contract utilities I’d still convert just to get one.
Aside from this, a few more shared slot spaces, and definitely dying to see the wide rim glasses and the soul river glider return.
Now if someone likes your specific style, scheme, theme, color, combo of skins of your character(s); then that’s completely different.
But it still in no way makes anyone better than someone else just because they might have an earlier or now unavailable skin. And rather than thinking you/or your character might be or look better, you should be rather flattered they take an interest. And thank them all the same if they compliment on it.
It’s ok to be prideful of what you have especially if you worked your hiney off to acquire it, but there’s no room or need for ego.
