that requires extra resources – something NCsoft won’t fund anet to do….anet BARELY has the man power in terms of employees , no chance they can afford to add PTS servers and run them for testing purposes
Don;t see how that holds up with their fortnightly release schedule. They just put resources in the wrong areas. They don’t want a PTS because they have a philosophy of wanting to make everything a big reveal, which just doesn’t work.
You do realize that the whole feature patch already is a bunch of HUGE changes mid-season, right? Like, adding new traits, changing crit-dmg, etc. Making wxp accountbound would be a minor change in comparison. Thus, the “no changes thing” doesn’t have any influence on this at all.
In fact it makes it look ridiculous given the datamining has revealed that it is already in the game.
I did not mention that on purpose: adding the possibility to buy traits is clearly a manouvre to suck up in-game money from players in order to influence the in-game economy. I bet that every major adept trait will cost 10 silver each; every major master trait will cost 1 gold each and every major grandmaster trait will cost 2 gold each at least. I hope Anet will surprise me in a positive way.
I hope grandmasters are only 2 gold I’m afraid it will be something stupid like 10 gold or more.
I’m sure it’s coming, but not seeing any mention of save-able trait builds was a little disappointing.
This, but I doubt its coming in this update in fact I would think it won;t come until the next feature patch which is what, another 6 months.
It’s my opinion that this just might be to little to late, time will tell.
Yep, too little too late, I’ll be in ESO and soon to be in WS. They should have released WvW updates before ESO released.
LOL, I thought this might be an issue.
I bet Anet starting to care when ESO goes live.
If they really cared account bound world xp would be in with this patch.
Keep in mind that this isn’t ‘The Feature Update’ with massive changes (acording Anet).
They have never even intimated that account bound world xp would have to wait for the feature patch. Its just mindbogglingly silly to wait with competitors just around the corner and season 2 launching.
They can’t delay Season 2 due to account-bound WXP not being ready. It’s timed to start right before another game launches with three-faction siege warfare.
That game is launching in 2 weeks, after S2 has started, they won’t be putting in account bound world xp then.
I’ve heard rumors that they have been contending with a rewarding issue which i’ll try to explain with some context:
Say you log onto your main character, and you find TADA! you now have account bound WXP and you’ve jumped from rank 200 to 450. You just got a bunch of Rank up chests! Yay loot! You assign your now reset wvw traits, and go on your merry way.
Now, you log onto your other character, again we have the TADA! moment and you have a bunch of Rank Up chests! Yay Loot! but you already got rewards for these levels.
Rinse and repeat for other toons. much loot. such rank chests. wow. such doge.
OK but kittening say so, be transparent. Plus they have had months to fix any problems, even if it was a problem they have had the time to fix it. They have merged other currencies before when introducing the wallet so it so they can do it.
It’s just business.
New MMOs are hitting the market soon and Anet will hold the biggest changes back till they are ready to deploy a motherload of player demands in the hope of combating attrition to the newer titles releases.
Account bound world xp would have helped with this. Instead its now a slap in the face to the players. Especially with no communication on it. What happened to Josh communicating with the WvW community or Allie Murdoch?
How can they not have fixed this already?
ESO here I come, Anet you just made the decision that much easier. Good job.
There are such type of suggestion in last CDI but seems Anet doesn`t want to go for “one big server” and “red vs blue vs green” that works well at EOTM and may be in ESO. I think this would be good dessision for “dead” servers and adress question about “pride” from server to guild.
It works in ESO because each faction is distinct and you do the story associated with the faction so you should identify with it more. EOTM is only a colour, how do you identify with that.
TESO is always compared to GW2 because they have the same mechanics.
I already played their BETA and I feel that Im still on Tyria. I feel like GW2 is being cloned. But then a lot of players are pushing that game so hard. So how can Arenanet keep GW2 on the top?
Its hardly a clone. TESO doesn’t have heart quests and dynamic events like GW2, teh RvR is different. The ESO world is not as open as GW2. The classes and levelling mechanics are completely different.
And you forgot Wildstar.
Unique is a standard item type in MMO’s.
We’ve been through this before, no its not a standard term.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/world-xp-and-you/
WXP will be account bound soon.
I think that most people would agree that over 3 months does not qualify as soon.
Just gonna copy/paste from a review I found:
-Recent removal of the QA department to a third party agency poses a severe threat to studio culture and the pre-existing dynamic of hiring/mentoring from within (Good portion of design and production started as QA)
And you think this game is buggy now…
That is not good.
While I appreciate the discussion around the dolyak issue, it wasn’t my intention to refocus the discussion there so much as provide an example of a point.
To pivot from that discussion, however, would WvW be better or worse off if we removed dolyaks entirely and went with the setup we use in EotM or something similar?
What about a lattice system, similar to that used in Planetside??
Combine the Sentry Points and the Ruins mechanic into a series of small zones of control that dot the entire map. When someone captures a Supply Camp, it will automatically provide supplies to nearby structures if they are connected by a series of small zones of control, which use the current Ruins mechanic. In order to cut off a Keep and lay siege, an attacker must literally sever its supply chains by surrounding the keep and blockading its territory.
This would be a great change and add to the strategy.
Just rename this thread because eso has about hijacked
Mainly because you’re provoking it with inaccurate statements.
I was talking about putting sieges down there is no cost putting it down there is a cost to buy it from npc this cost comes from partly the pve in eso rvrvr yes you can get it from killing players etc.. but your going to get points faster and uncontested by running the pve of rvrvr.
Prove it.
And its a PvP zone everything in it is contested.
AND ESO gives you free sieges to put down that MAKES you pve in rvrvr because thoughts who do not pve in rvrvr are weaker then though who do. ESO going to go down the same rode with its RvRvR in time as GW2 the thing about ESO they will just throw more pve at the players and make it less about pvp.
This is the second thread that you’ve alleged this and your statements are not accurate.
Do tell are there supplies in eso? Do you get means of buying sieges from pve? Is there pve in eos RvRvR? What did i lie about?
Added note every time we talk about eso the more like these will be closed so if you want to put up ideal its best not to talk about eso this is a gw2 forum not eso.
You’re lying with your whole slant on PvE in Cyrodiil. Siege is obtained by alliance points which are obtained in Cyrodiil.
The center is pve there a lot of side pve to get the alliance points.
And far more PvP, you’re taking something minor and trying to blow it up into an issue which it really isn’t, in an effort to discredit a competitor to GW2.

line of warding so kitten ed op.
line of warding new meta incoming.
OP? Put stability on then see how OP it is.
Previously, Chris was someone who went out of his way to do the right thing. I figured I could rely on him for this.
Don’t.
To know if the company will relate to a certain issue, check against the checklist:
- Is it related to China release?
- Is it related to Scarlet / LS (“Villain Sue did it”)?
- Is it related to poor lore (“Commander, to me”)?
- Is it related to adding RNG?…No?
So no.
Yep and IMHO there’s a pattern appearing of discussing difficult issues but then then avoiding doing anything about them, almost like the discussion is a distraction. It really goes right back to Nov 2012 when fractals were introduced.
I would like it, ISTM that they would make a killing on the gem store with it.
it has been 69 working days since account-bound WXP was announced
That is not accurate. Devon Carter announced the change over 6 months ago (I think over 200 days).

Errrr, unless there’s something I’m missing………….
I’m not saying Wildstar will be good. I love the art style but know little of the game play and scifi mmo’s are tricky business.
And as far as the fee goes, it just has to be good (a huge hurdle for an MMO but not an impossible one) Both EvE and WoW are still pay to play with Wildstar copying EvE’s PLEX system of buying and selling monthly passes in game which is a genius system that other games don’t emulate enough.
Biggest issues with Wildstar are the sub and the art style, the gameplay is fantastic.
Subject says it all, why anet why. It shows a complete lack of respect for the mode and players.
It’s not the GSCH from SoR. It is people from other guilds from SoR running under the tag.
Why?
I was surprised when I saw the tag in TCBL last night. Then I saw who their commander was and laughed. Go ask Hammered.
What was the actual guild name?

Also pet classes should be carefully considered when crafting achievements. pretty unbelievable that apparently no-one tested these at anet on a ranger or mesmer or necro.
I’ve seen in-game reviews of the beta in PvE and PvP and I’m not impressed. Also after paying for WoW for 5 years, monthly subs are a big turn off.
You see after playing GW2 free to play is a turn off for me.
It’s not the GSCH from SoR. It is people from other guilds from SoR running under the tag.
Why?
Yes, it’s moddable. But that comes with problems of it’s own. For example, you can see your enemy’s magicka and stamina with a mod and there is currently controversy that you could even use the mods with other third party programs to do things like auto-interrupt casts.
ZOS won’t allow that. As for seeing enemies majicka and stamina I don’t see why that is a problem, other games allow you to see all that info in PvP.
I agree with Amins and Jax. GW2 has superior combat and control of your character. GW2 also has a superior UI. ESO has a superior PvP map and basic “world versus world” mechanics (no hard rezzing, no aoe cap). About the AoE cap. Ranged AoE damage is typically pretty low. Melee point blank AoE is higher but nothing on the order of the damage AoEs can do in GW2. Single target attacks do more damage than AoE attacks in ESO (as it should be). They just hit more people (as it should be).
Agree with the comments about ESO damage, they are as it should be.
However on the UI I’d actually argue that ESO is superior because the base UI is minimalist but it can be modded to exactly what you want it to be unlike GW2.
Drawing from the experience, I am doubtful about ESO’s longevity because code cannot be rushed. If it’s not polished at this stage, it won’t be polished on release. It will be done months later.
That said, most folks will try out ESO just because WvW has become stale as you said.
The good thing about GW2 is that because its F2P if ESO doesn’t work out its easy to come back.
Per the OP it would be nice to see the game actually address this, it would make for more complex and better stories.
The “anti-TP” crowd, as you call them, is simply making a mistake of applying real life market externalities to those in a video game. Much of what they argue holds real currency in the real world, just a bit less so in an MMORPG.
I actually would say the complete opposite.
I don’t grind for gold, which is why I’ve made less in 18 months than some flippers make in a single month, ankitten owhere near being able to afford many of the things I want. I don’t wish that I grind more, I don’t wish I flipped more, I do wish that the activities I enjoy provided more balanced rewards relative to both other activities.
And I think thats your main issue. You want the same reward for less effort.
MMOs in general dont work like that.
Its a game, with many different activities, he wants equal reward for doing the activities he enjoys in a game.
The fact that not one credible, specific, evidence based argument has been given by the anti-TP crowd doesn’t seem to faze them at all. They just keep ploughing on and having a good old cry.
The worst part is they have the same attitude towards real life economies.
We do? News to me. My attitude to the TP is predicated purely on the fact that this is a game, and not even a market simulator.
The thing is its still cost nothing in the filed that the problem at first its going to be easy to counter siege in eso because no one will be able to buy / fix it but in time when ppl start building things up and farming your going to see a major shift in have and have not. “If you do not have the ability to keep up with the cost of your siege you will be kicked from our rvrvr guild” i think will become a stander point of view. When it comes down to real rvrvr combat that is = size and some type of leadership on both sides the amount of sieges they can put down will win them fights but the lack of a limitation such as supple your going to see this type of fight happen over and over even on the small level. ESO will be about sieges and doing pve to buy more siege in the long run.
The situation you describe is more of a problem in GW2. Because as has been said, in ESO siege is essentially useless once battle is joined.
I don’t see how anyone can object to a one time change in stats, they have done it before.

Killing of a character is such a cheap and cliché way to create artificial drama that I’m glad anet didn’t go down that path. Hate when stories do that just to be dark and gritty.
And having them all wake up and kiss isn’t cliché? It’s just as bad if not worse. It’s pandering at it’s finest.
If anet really want to be bold have a gay male couple.
They do..they just happen to be non important characters in the series, but then again Sylvaries don’t count right?
OK a prominent gay male couple then since I have no idea who you’re referring to.
Sick of ACs? Then play TESO which doesn’t have ACs in its RvRvR pvp.
Best joke ever sick of AC go to a game where all sieges is free to put down and takes no time to put it down where you can have oil pots every where at every chock where every one has a treb ram etc….
You can carry siege but it takes damage and it costs to buy and its only useful against other siege not in an actual battle between players so the situation is not as you describe.
(edited by morrolan.9608)
2 out of 10: poor villain, extremely poor writing, it was an achievement grind for much of it, and it went way way too long considering it was just setup for a new dragon.
The hiccuping was silly and distracting.

As long as there’s plenty of people doing it in overflow shouldn’t be much of an issue. First time I did it was in overflow and it didn’t fail once.
No its a bug, doesnt happen always for everybody
It happens all the time for me now.

Just in an attempt to help, you can actually skip some of the events if just doing the story finale is your thing. There is a teleporter thingy that allows it, though… I am unsure if it has a prerequisite or if you just have to find it. (As I’d done some stuff first)
You have to have at least the exotic version of the spinal blades backpiece equipped.
This isn’t entirely true.
You can get in there with the Spinal Blade Pack (the blue one) ’cause I did. The exotic one is just for the achievement by the looks of things.
Hang on does this mean you have to wear a spinal backpiece to do the finale and get an achievement?
