What is your current build? The boost gave you daggers? Get 2 x exotic pistol with berserker stats. Daggers are for WvW or PvP, same with short bow. Check LFG and join a hero point run in Verdant Brink and Auric Basin, or google for help on hero points. I like to learn things on my own first, so I spent weeks getting hero points with my first character. Every new character does a HP run though.

With the hero points, buy the daredevil trait line. Get an exotic staff with berseker stats. You will have excellent ranged capabilities with the pistols and close combat with staff. You will die less often, promised.

You got the Valkyrie stat combination with the boost, maybe you have 20k health? Right now, you are lacking precision though, maybe swap a few pieces to berserker, so you get a higher chance to hit critical, and still have some additional health from Valkyrie.

I died a lot until I got berserker temple armor. You’ll not have enough karma for that yet, but for a few gold coins, you can get the weapons.

Thief is also one of those classes where u have to pay attention to what x target is doing and read the gameplay; whats about to happen. Thats the drawback of having the juicy mobility/evades. Once u become more aware then the class will feel truly rewarding.

just u wait and see, a few months down the road once the hype has been sold, they gonna nerf that kitten. No way they are going to allow a 5 sec cd elite that removes reavealed and adds stealth to remain in its current form, same way previous current elites are vastly different now than they were at HoT release. Its a shame though.

nah its not about it being condi, it seemes more to be both power n condi, but my main concern is the dagger/dagger not providing same cc as other classes, but I may be reading too much into it as who knows how itll flow with our beastmode on with pet skills. At least im grateful for getting a non supporty elite, hopefully greatsword will be just as viable on a lb soulbeast.

I wonder how effective soulbeast dagger will be at spvp given how dagger(soulbeast wiki)/existing offhand skills work. As a ranger who always aim for a marauder longbow build im quite excited to try a new line than druid (as a marauder lb druid doesnt really benefit from CA, while some of the traits has synergy with lb/range style).

What makes me a little concerned is the sheer focus on damage/condi dmg on the dagger (yes you have a leap), but overall lack of cc/counter compared to the other ‘higher uptime’ classes of said mechanic. How can we stick on a target and deal damage in enough short timeframe in this age where theres plenty of counters to everything, where sheer damage wont cut. Our other offhands, like dagger, is outdated and I just dont see how dagger/dagger can keep going in a prolonged fight.

I understand much is left to discover, and most likely much results will come from synergy from soulbeast mode and merged pet F skills, but it will be great to finally test how effective we can be 1v1 and smallscale on point – if we can truly go in melee more often and not havingto rely on lb from range, which is mediocre in higher tier.

And hopefully theyll add a lb legendary soon enough..

Youd be surprised that marauder lb still has its options in spvp, and has good synergy with 33% runspeed trait and root on dmg trait in druid. I recently statrted n hit plat with it, but im droppinga biit now as im playing other new classes for the league prof achis. Thief surely eill b fun, especially as its elite mane u able to restealth on 5 sec cd on demand for repositioning + cc on openers. Still i will hold onto the ranger in waiting for an epic lb leg, i just love those arrows/lb feel

Being someone who hasn’t raided previously in GW2, I’d like to get into it. But honestly the vibe I have gotten across the board has been that its pretty much out of the question unless you are lucky enough to find a “training” group. I looked in LFG and it was pretty much only wanting exp players.

U should apply to a raiding guild that takes in new folk. Raids require much coordination/performance which the majority of the gw2 playerbase do not have, either cuz lack of skill/will or not enough practice. I can tell as i pugged the first raid wing back im the day and cleared it eventually. I havent tried the new wings so thats why i dont expect to get my free ride anywhere unless i earn my spot in a guild, bcuz ur also responsible for other ppl time, and i respect that. Raids are the more challanging content.

It would be amazing if dagger offhand was reworked

If you have 100+ hrs in dishonor then logic indicates that this is the fault of you or your internet provider. How many else experience what you say, being kicked off due to arenanet, and actually at such frequest rate to get 100+ hours and counting? This has to be on your end, and this post should be in the technical discussion section.

having to go threw many players to find a team to do one boss as a pick up group is unacceptable, people dont have time to throw away just to complete something in a fantasy rpg, i have played this game since beta and excelled in everything that its had to offer but your raids are set so high that it take hours of kicking people out of teams (which is just bad for the community) to get a team to complete one boss. and thats without achievements (elitists should not get the green light and they are only a small part of the community). As someone who doesnt raid (did in the past tho by clearing first wing in pugs) nor have the legendary armor all I can say is this game needs challenging content. Why must all be accessible to everyone, especially when there are good equal alternatives out there such as ascended gear.

If you take away the Journey and focus then you only have left with Skins Wars 2.

It’s the same With the legendary backpiece from spvp, it’s purely time gated, anyone can get it, and thats plain wrong because why cant we have content that rewards those willing to dedicate themselves. Im not talking being upper legendary tier, even platinum would do, but still there is a limit at how casual friendly this game should be – when there are equal options out there for anyone.

It’s been years, this has been brought up before many times, but no change so why not tease a little more.
We hear the argument that the spvp is balanced around 5v5, so we have our circles gamemode and ranking system. If I were to be narrowminded I would say that pvp interest has lowered itself due to us only being able to have this gamemode. Yes you could say classbalance has impact on interest, but at least every season theres new tweaks and new builds, where you once again have to adapt, yet few of them are truly strong if you are organized leaving less diversity.

Always the same 5v5 circle maps, with few core builds revolving around these circles. Why not 40v40 map, some crazy big map with mini objectives with each team having a base or an endobjective at each end. Or 1v1. Or 20v20, even 10v10. Capture the flag, king of the hill, something creative. We have good gameplay/combat, why not try something new after all these years. Some may say the playerbase is too small, but if you start with small changes, add a new mode by mode and interest would spark up, yes?
We are on a journey where we still havent fully experienced what gear-equalized pvp could offer. FUN. Or are we still waiting for esports to truly kick off?

Why do I always have to go against plats when I’m nowhere near plat? All I want to do is learn how to play PvP, but I can’t learn when my team is basically being spawncamped all and every game.

It basically sounds like for both your own progression and the other players goodwill, it’s best if you stick with unranked for now till you feel content. I usually do that when Im testing something really new, as I also dont want to shaft my fellow teammates.

1. The way of obtaining the wings likely stays the same, but there were some changes after first 4 seasons because the pip system changed.

2. End of season reward comes in form of titles for top 250, 100, 25, 10, 3, 2, 1. Nothing else.

3. I think the “animal” rank system is just a form of progression for pvp, similar to what levels are in pve. Also, back in the day you could only get pve armor/weapon skins in pvp from rewards which were tied to those ranks.

4. Based on my limited knowledge I assume that the meta stays pretty much the same until some balance update changes some skills and traits.

Im actually quite surprised that u could get where u are now so fast. I also recently returned and im at the IV part and theres still tons left to do. I can only imagine that theyve nerfed some of the achis, I remember back from season1 you had to get to legendary i believe to finish one of the achis – unless the progress carried over to the next (could be the case), I dont see the achi where you have to play multiple classes anymore either. It does seem tho that this legendary is purely time gated, which sucks as it wouldve been nice to have something that requires some dedication, same way u have to focus to overcome raids.

The risk vs reward is seeing who you end up with, will the system and rng treat you good or give you the shorter end of the stick? Or perhaps you should’ve followed Your hunch and waited those extra minutes or hour before q’ing up! Hopefully the other team got more worse players.

This game is the most gear friendly mmorpg out there and thank goodness! While BDO is great, it’s such a relief comming back and appreciating the ability to enjoy the game and not continously struggle for gear. The Journey to ascended gear you can make through many means, and luckily exotics arnt too far behind.

Just adding my two laurels after a yearkittenus. I cleared the first wing back then, but after returning i cant hekp but feel sorry for those working hard to get their armor and then it is this they get after two years and gold, lots of it. Youd think anet couldve made something more inspiring and unique than standard shallow light and medium armor skins. Im sorry but its a downright joke. I applaud the combat effect feat, but that doesnt help when it’s the same trenchcoat-looking design many have complained about previously. One thing is that it’s too thick around the users legs, but nothing resembles legendary about it – other than overused spikes animation. Such a pity, but hey, at least this aint the one be all armor so Anet still can make coin of outfits.

I recently returned after a year’kittenus and after having played two three days of spvp again I have to admit I see OP’s points. Theres some new larger maps added which is nice, but the spvp-5man mentality is limiting. I read some recent reply from a dev where anet gonna stick with 5v5 cuz its balanced around that, but this is the same thing we heard ever since the beginning.
Obviously spvp isnt in the best state nor has it ever been, why not take note of that and listen to your community and make changes based on that and not on whats right in your head. Look at Overwatch for example, that game is top notch because you have this simple free thing called communication, actual communication between players and devs where they talk about whats working and whats actually fun. How many times do we have to beat the dead horse, be more open minded and dont be afraid to try new things. PvP is has not yet seen its full potential as we are locked in this capture and hold points-5v5 style. Start from there and work your way down.

Assuming the next elite spec gives us dagger, I have a feeling it could supplement the offhand dagger well, giving us perhaps a rogue’ish playstyle-stabbystab? Thatd be really nice, could make us be the rangers we were born to be with our sidearm-longbow

Here is the build I’m currently using when I play power druid in PvP, hopefully this can help find what works for you

It’s very squishy tho compared to the bunker Druid you see everywhere so get ready to die alot, but when you get really good at it, you can do some great things. Versus Thiefs and Necros I have much easier time than using bunker Druid because of the damage output and the taunt from both Beastly Warden trait and Protect Me. I can also kill eles rather easily once I get a good burst with Tiger and Hilt Bash followed by a good old Maul.

Like the comment above I’d say use Marauder rather than Berserker. I like to have a good chunk of health because there is so much condi builds in this meta it’s hard to stay alive with little health when you get focussed. You really don’t need the damage from Berserker amulet with this build with the pet doing so much damage.

I run with staff/lb marauder druid mm and ws. I didnt really get the benefit from taunt from beastly as im running standard hot pets as their dmg is just too much to miss out on + i save smokescales f2 for staff3 stealt. When u taunt they tend to do it on u where i didnt get the full benefit as i nuke from range most of the time – but maybe i could try ur beastly a bit more, i only recently returned. Its deff way more fun to try out alternative faster builds than these boring bunkery meta builds

Each of the four achievement categories you need to acquire to obtain the legendary requires you to play 3 matches daily for 15 days, each achievement unlocking in sequence. I don’t think it worked like this in season 1 – I feel like you needed to actually unlock the meta-acheievement for the category first? (I could be wrong here.)

I think you might have possibly misunderstood what step you’re on; acquiring all four of the vendor back items and throwing them in the Mystic Forge creates the precursor, which happens to be of Ascended rarity. That backpeice is called Wings of Ascension.

The Legendary however is called The Ascension(of, obviously, legendary rarity). To acquire it you need the aforementioned precusor, a gift of fortune, a gift of skirmishing, and most relevantly the Gift of the Competitor; that part is made from the four items obtained via the four Year of the Ascension meta-achievements.

Given that your original post said you were going after the Legendary backpack, I was focusing on that point. I don’t know what state your achievements are in, but if you haven’t completed all four “Daily League Participator” achievement sets, you may be unable to acquire it by the end of this season.

BUT if you are in fact just after the precursor(or the precursor is your only missing component to the legendary), Wings of Ascension, then yes, you can easily acquire it.

The four Year of the Ascension categories are found under the Competitive achievement section, if you weren’t aware.

Yes I was a bit vague in my explenation, I have the precursor, but I saw I was missing the 5 something that costs together 25 pvp league tickets (currently have 20, need to get another chest). I am on the IV part of the achis and what I may struggle with timewise is reaching 85k rankpoints. Do you reckon there very well could be another season before the expansion, asuming it could come in 4 5 months? Hasnt each league had like a 1 month delay inbetween so could very well happen? I have a feeling they could add something new next expac and we lose out on the possibility to make ascension

It was implied to be an exclusive for one year, but they still went back on that plan, yeah. I got mine last week, and my progress from s2 was still saved.

You might not have enough time as of right now, however, thanks to the daily matches requirements… Season is ending very soon, and there’s still this looming possibility they could change their mind for next season. I’d consider it unlikely, but just prepare yourself for that possibility.

Could u elaborate on how this daily limit works, csnt i farm ranks? I only need 25 pvp tokens which i get by crossing 3 ranks

I recently started playing again and I have quite some yellow items in my inventory, I remember I used to go around in HoT zones and hand pairs of them in to NPCs once a spot was retaken from the Mordrem – anyone know what this gave again? I think I was quite into it so must have been important somehow, I think it was to collect some currency of sorts for something bigger..

Have been gone for a year but back when season one finished up I managed to hit legendary and made the last part of the legendary backpiece, “elites wing of glory”. Am I still eligible to make it by collecting currency from comming seasons or is the train gone? I knew the legendary backpiece was exclusive for season one, but figured id ask since I made all the pieces up to the last one.

You forget one thing, GW2 has at its core always had “an easy” an approach, same way a returner like me after a yearkittenus is still at the same “stat level” due to this game’s forgiveness and design. This game is meant to be accessible for the majority, thats where the hard revenue comes in, the casuals are the zerg and thats Anets target group. Within these boundaries you have varying degree of “hard”, with raids being on the top/spvp.

Heyya! Ive been gone for over a year and much has changed I see, while some remain the same..

Back in the day I changed my ascended medium into a healing friendly variant on my ranger for raiding, but now I plan to go back to my thief to finish the season 3 storyline. And with that I need a more pew’pewy set, and why not go for something inbetween that also can be used in WvW too. So should I go with a mix of zerk with some vitality parts?(maurauder was it?) Or should I go pure zerk and mix some defensive stats in the trinkets rings etc

Also I think I saw a leaked vid of thieves getting rifle? HYPE

Unlike legendary weapons, theyve given an ETA on next wing, so roughly in 8 months at least we should have the last raid wing. This should give them plenty of time to rethink how legendary armor should look like^^

It must be hard to live in a world where everything is black and white. I addressed that the LFG is rough and we all know it needs more sections, not just for raids.

For the general player, legendary armor will always be the most desired armor and potentially skin to aim for. Everyone has to go through hefty time investment in raids (and now even at its release we may have to wait a year to see it craftable), where casuals alike may aquire it further down the road. With this in mind, should we have at least two different skins or themes to chose from, much like the hellfire and radiant sets are from AP (dark and light theme)?
I worry if there is only one skin for each armor type, some may not like its look for various reasons such as not fitting with the class theme, and we are talking about legendary armor here. For legendary weapons we at least can chose between vanilla or HoT variants.

Game is on most of the day whether I’m playing it or not. I tend to duck in and duck out. I’m mostly homebound, so there’s little reason to turn it off. Often I’m just chatting with guildies, but yeah, it’s possible. Check out my achievement points. lol

If your character goes afk for more than 1 hour u will disconnect, and the hour count doesnt count when ur in the character screen? In any event u had been present at your character at least every hour.

im not gonna claim anything op till we see how the meta shifts, nothing is for certain, and 1v1s are tricky vs some classes on a reaper, so its not like its an insta win

The new diamond skin is very strong, its just that other stuff in the ele dept needs to be updated to be on par with the powercreep elite spec shenanigans we have atm, such as the low health pool eles have which makes it harder to take adv of DS. Or instead of giving more health pool, fix some other stuff so the class stays unique in its risk playstyle

I dont see how core ranger is better than druid as u can get some reslly strong traits in each tier, that other core traits doesnt bring. For instance if u chose to be a pew pew ranger, in druid u could get 13 condi removed by just switching to CA form, instead of just 2 condis on survival skill which means u must invest into GM wilderness and take up utilith slots. CA form opens up more play and breathing room as u LoS, and we get CA form for free ontop of strong traits. U can get passive 33 movespeed++ or the glyph traits; glyphs r very strong in thst they have low cd, fast castime and good effects like pushback and daze, which u need in this meta. The GM trsit that roots n bleed on cc is also very strong n has synergy with the pew pew ranger. Staff even on berserker stats has a lot of uses and dmg avoidance that u cant give up on. Sadly, another example why druid is superior, at least in pvp n wvw, and HoT content.

I think Spite might be a little bit too good – providing vulnerability that boosts Chill and all other sources of damage and acts as cover condition. I would probably re-consider Bitter Chill or putting ICD on Death’s Embrace minor.

But Druids have a fair chance in that 1v1, depending on node, even advantage.

Which is why OP thread title of reaper being a-op holds little ground of reality and reeks of l2p

Before the patch I could beat reapers on my druid, havent had any propper duels after this patch, however I was watching nos necro stream from 29 jan where he on two occasions met up against a druid, nos had all cds and it was a stalemate fight, as fair 1v1 can be, i even felt the druid had the upper hand as the fight prolonged through propper management of abilities. Nos also got low and had to withdraw a bit. So Im sorry but i dont buy this reaper OP claim just yet when there r builds out there on par, and powercreep roams the land.

U just need to better rotate ur skills and let go of passive play, know the reaper inside out.

They just need to update and tweak core old mechanics and numbers so that they are up to par with this elite spec era. I dont see why ele has to relay on a good amu to be viable, anet has to update eles health pool to medium. Same with scepter, it has to many outdated abilities, and the shatterstone ‘buff’ just reflect the current inability to comprehend.
