Yes, Anet is handing out too much on a silver plattern catering to the instant gratification crowd of lazy casuals. The golden age of MMORPGs seems to be over thanks to instant gratification crowd.
If it would just be this lvl 80 boost I would not care, but the free hand outs are everywhere in GW2 and it seems to get more and more as the game matures.
Being a casual player is not the same as being a lazy player.
I guess it depends how you want to level. If you’re going to do it by completing maps and doing renowned hearts, then for me the hardest was Mesmer as well. Although I will point out that it could also depend on what build. I found a ‘DPS’ mesmer harder to level than my Condi mesmer.
Close second was Engineer.
Since I have a Sylvari & Norn druid, I’d say Sylvari out of the two choices.
All arguments against mounts in game were invalidated when gliders were introduced.
How so? Gliding is just falling down but at a slower speed. Nothing to do with mounts. You may as well say that we should have mounts because we have swimming too.
I wonder why they made a category for RP but not for sellers. /:
Because selling items on LFG (as apposed to selling dungeons, raids, SAB levels etc) is against the rules, so I think they just don’t want to encourage it!
But selling achievements and raids is officialy allowed, and thats what im doing.
Yeah I understand, but since there’s already an achievements and raids section, don’t really need a ‘selling’ section too. Anyone wanting to buy a raid, or a dungeon run etc can look under those sections. Anyone not looking to buy, aren’t going to look anyway.
I suspect if there’s a specific ‘Sell’ section on it’s own on LFG, it’ll get swamped by ‘WTS Twilight 3,000 Gold PM Me’ by people who don’t know any better, clogging up the list for people such as yourself wanting to sell your Raid or Achievement.
With those ranger buffs, mesmer buffs, warrior buffs on an elementalist, then sorry, in my eyes that’s not a “your” DPS but a shared DPS.
Of course, I’m testing my dps for raids.
Aye, of course that’s fair enough, but one can’t expect a scientifically accurate comparison from this then, if it’s not you on your own, since it’s hardly likely for people to gather a team together and ask them to each create a special build to match whatever builds gave you those buffs, in order to make a fair comparison.

Buggy forum?
It’s just for one character, for one time only, and you don’t even have to use it to instantly level – you can use it at level 79, maybe even 80 like I did.
Just because a cheese sandwich is on the table, doesn’t mean you have to eat it!
There’s a dev quote on reddit which says something about this, but I can’t for the life of me find it to link and copy and paste (Where’s Just a flesh wound when you need him/her?!) but it was something on the lines of they themselves didn’t want the tool to be used to force people to ‘link their DPS’ but at the same time, didn’t want to have the idea of a potentially useful tool for personal profession use to be thrown in the trash can either.

Just so you know, I’m primarily a Mac user too. I’m going to celebrate with you on the day that playing GW2 on my Mac is as enjoyable as playing it on my PC. But it’s a big project.
Brings back memories of when the Mac Beta Client was first announced, especially this bit:
“On top of it all, ArenaNet staffers are big fans of Macs. We offer them as part of our employee laptop subsidy program, and our president Mike O’Brien is rarely seen without his Mac laptop. We’re as excited as anyone to play Guild Wars 2 on OS X.”
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/announcing-guild-wars-2-for-mac-beta/
Could it be to cut down on the [Rank/Farm] Hit B and Tag. Jump. No CC. No Finishers. No Pets. Blue Caps. Read rules or ban!! type arenas?
underwater weapons serve no purpose anymore.
All the oceans in Central Tyria were drained? This wasn’t in today’s patch notes!! :O
A Heads Up About This Work Around For The Problem. Posted on reddit, and not here of course but at least some place got a dev replay about the Mac client.

So this works in the short term, technically, but you won’t be able to patch at all in the future unless you roll this fix back. It looks like we have some idea of what changed and we’re working to get a real fix in for this.
Hmm.. after today’s second patch I managed to come back into the game without having to roll back the fix, so hopefully this will be true for everyone.
Seems to be fixed, but didn’t make the patch notes, unless I’ve skipped passed it somehow!
Anyway, thanks for fixing this!
SOLUTION:
Go to your GW2 application. Right-click and choose “Show Package Contents”
Navigate Contents -> Resources -> transgaming -> c_drive -> GW2
Rename gw2.exe to oldgw2.exe
Rename gw2.tmp to gw2.exe.
Launch GW2.The launcher will start and will begin the download. I’m downloading now.
Edit: The fix persists through multiple launches.

Thanks that worked. I wonder if Anet actually tests their updates on Macs before they release them. It seems doubtful.
I think they do but forgot this time. Or maybe, they were experimenting with Native Mac Clients and moving files around, but forgot to put things back! (I know, I’m forever the optimist!)
Anyway, don’t thank me, thank Blackwood the original person who figured it out!

Thank you for this – the launcher is now working for me too and is downloading. I’m not quite in game yet, but I can’t imagine not being now we’ve passed this stage!
Going through the normal channels, such as deleting cache files certainly doesn’t help.
Also I’ve noticed that in Activity Monitor, there’s only one instance of GW2 running, instead of the normal two (sometimes three!) that have ran in the past.
My mac launcher won’t launch.
Mine either, though not quite sure if it’s Mac related or just ‘connection related’ since there are probably quite a lot of people wanting to download the new patch at the same time.
It looks as though PC clients might be having trouble too, though in this case, and error is popping up whilst the Mac launcher is just not loading:

Firstly even with asura if that happened it would be an amazing coincidence. The number of names out there makes it unlikely.
Secondly I can’t speak for Anet but I think you’d be ok.
They have actually deliberately named NPCs after prominent players before. E.g. Siegemaster Dulfy and Ameranth. Obviously that’s a bit different, but if they’re willing to name NPCs after players characters (and not force them to change their name) I’d be very surprised if they forced you to change your name just because it happened to be used.
And of course there are NPCs named after Anet staff – using both their real names and character names.
I never actually thought about that, great answer. Just’s was too, but I can only pick one ‘This Answers My Question’ sorry!
From what I understand, if a player names their character after an NPC, for example, they have a human called Logan Thackéry, they usually have to change their character name if caught.
Now my question is this: In the very unlikely event that I have a character that I made before an NPC was created by ArenaNet with the same name, would I still need to change my character’s name, or would it be given an exception since the character’s /age would prove before the NPC was made?
I like to try and stick to lore-relevant names, so for example, I have a female revenant Asura called Spekka, but I would hate to have to change that simple, lore friendly name because ArenaNet added that name to an NPC in a future story!
And I wish they would bring the Marionette back as another meta event boss, on a long timer like Teq.
Agreed, me too. Maybe not quite the same as last time, since Scarlet is dead. Would have to be possessed or powered by something new for the sake of The Lore. Maybe, Steam Creatures have started to advance their own AI type thing or something on those lines.
Or maybe some Asura decided to tinker and things got out of hand… not like that would be a first
I can imagine that Asura being Taimi xD
The higher up the mastery line, the more XP it takes to level. I’m not sure on the exact numbers, but I think it’s somewhere on the lines of a One Point mastery is worth 4 full levels, and it doubles with each progressive mastery in that line.
Main reason is I imagine is to make sure people didn’t just rush through them as quickly as you can rush through levels.

Bump to the Front
Sounds like you want this fixing even more than I do!
Fingers crossed for the patch coming in the next few hours!
Only two classes can use short bow and their skill assets aren’t very viable in pve or pvp.
I just choked on my coffee reading this bit! Shortbow to me is a lot more fun than longbow on ranger, PvE or PvP. Also, shortbow is great for condi thieves too. :p
I’m told that if an audience watching an opera, play or movie feels hatred towards a bad guy in the storyline, then the writer has done rather well.
So if a lot of people hated Scarlet Briar for whatever reason, then kudos to the person who created her!
People hate Scarlet because they think she’s a bad written character.
Not because she’s a good villain. The Joker is a good written character (in most cases). Even though he’s a monster.
Scarlet can’t even hold a candle.
It’s all subjective at the end of the day. I don’t think the character was badly written myself. She was annoying, kitteny and arrogant. That’s the character. I think what was possibly done badly was the structure of Season 1 altogether. It wasn’t in any clear direction or set way of it being one story until it became close to the end.
Season 2 was a lot better, because we knew when and where each chapter started and finished. I don’t think we can lay the entire blame of Season 1 on Scarlet’s door. (Her house in Dry Top doesn’t even have one anymore anyway!)
Also, let’s not forget that the more one might have felt annoyed and frustrated with Scarlet, it only meant it to be more satisfying that she was dead in the end.
So you think that an antagonist is summed up by how much it hate it gets? Even if that hatred is because of bad writing, acting, or direction? So Jesse Eisenberg deserves an Oscar for his portrayal of “Alexander Luthor, Jr.” in Batman V. Superman? Which also sums up Scarlet persona to a point.
I didn’t quite say that. As above with the bad writing bit.
I’m told that if an audience watching an opera, play or movie feels hatred towards a bad guy in the storyline, then the writer has done rather well.

I’m don’t have a commander tag, but I know by all means you’re not alone. Just Right-Click > Report > Verbal Abuse. Then probably Right Click > Block if they’re bad enough too. Just pity these idiots.
They tend to only do it for one of two reasons:
1) They crave attention.
2) They were jealous that they were too late in tagging up themselves.
A third reason if something fails:
3) To cover their own backs early, and pin failure on other people rather than sharing the blame.
Just pity these people. They’re not worth worrying about.
Hi,
A couple of days ago, I decided to have my Sylvari Revenant Wynnach join the Order of Whispers during personal story step ‘A Tangle of Weeds’ (circa. 1325 in Ascalonian Settlement, so not talking about HoT here!). He was wielding the Caladbolg greatsword and his weapon skills were changed as normal.
However, he didn’t seem to have any utility skills! No healing, no elite. Nothing. I thought nothing of it at first, and survived the fight anyway (just!) as I put it down to the change of weapon.
Today, I have taken another Sylvari to the same story step. This time, my Elementalist Caerven. She still managed to keep her healing, utility and elite skills despite wielding the greatsword.
I’ve come to the conclusion it is because of the way Utility skills work with Revenant, in that once the Greatsword is wielded you lose your legend invocation skills. Below is a picture of Caerven with her full utility skill belt. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of Wynnach without his, since I didn’t think anything of it at the time. It was a fairly tough battle for Wynnach though, I must say.
I wouldn’t mind seeing that detective examining the Sylvari body washed up on the beach to start questioning people, Columbo style.
“Errr.. Errr… Just one more thing if you please”
Don’t worry. I’m still in the game.
Wait, who am I again?
Would you all feel better if the botters improved their scripts so they didnt look like botters?
No because we’re not talking about botters here anyway.

I’d rub out your e-mail address from the image, just in case you do come back to the game as gold sellers use them to try various passwords and also send phishing stuff.
Flesh is right. I found a stack of 4 banners at Fire Elemental, quickly bound … F9? I forget now … and was able to interact with all 4 in sequence even with other players right on top of them.
It would still be nice to have a safeguard against stacking them, though.
Aye, I knew of this myself, but still find it less convenient than running past each one whilst mashing F! :p
Hmm.. this technique reminds me of what you need to do in Divinity’s Reach often.. maybe not just do ground targeting for guild banners, but for Boxes of Fun as well? Give the ground target the same collision detection as decorations, so people can no longer add a Box o’ Fun outside a banker? rubs chin
seems like it’d be a hard thing to action against, if someone comes up while I’m on my ranger and I think I’ll only be gone a minute I could leave, but then an hour could pass or something similar where I’m not able to get back to the computer; how exactly do you action against that?
You wouldn’t be purposely circumventing the auto-kick system I imagine, unlike the AFK farmers. You’d be in the server for an hour until the game kicks you out.
There are a number of ways you can remain in game for far longer than an hour in pve while being afk without using a 3rd party application. Just watch the afk farmers if you want to learn how they do it.
I know, such as Ctrl + Right Clicking certain skills. Still doesn’t make it right, and it was against the rules once upon a time!
Hi,
I think since we have ground targetable decorations for guild halls, that can’t be placed inside each other due to decorations detecting clashes, that it’s about time we had a similar way of placing guild banners. Why?
The image below (not banners I’ve placed I might add, I learned this hard lesson long ago!) shows how easy it is to accidentally place many banners on the exact same spot. Banners that some guild members or guilds may have worked very hard on.
I’m sure in most people’s cases, it’s only happened a first time to them, and after that they remember. But it’s still banner bonuses that are lost to everyone in the map, and the time and/or resources spent on getting the banners wasted for the kind soul who placed them!
However, that doesn’t mean that we aren’t going to fix this. A fix is in the works right now, and that fix may happen before SAB closes or be there for the next time the festival opens.
So this is conformation SAB will return?

Yeah, the fact you’re joking about Slaves is probably what did it. Whether it’s from another franchise or not, they don’t allow stuff like that, as it is quite offensive.
You can appeal it directly with CS, but as far as the forums are concerned, not a lot we players can do for you.
Well, regardless of whether Michael’s posts are clear or not, I’m still reporting AFK farmers in Dredghaunt Cliffs and Straits of Devastation via Right-Click and under Botting. /shrug
We know how much gold Evon makes from the trading post.
My question is how big is the city he has to store all the items he has – I mean:
18 Million candy corn, 10 Million noughts, Thousands of Weapons – does he have an underground network under LA or something ?
Zaishen chests.
And on the point of this thread, the point being are they allowed to do this – if the green light is lit for anybody to do this, then there will be an imbalance of the trading post economy, which does affect other players.
They aren’t allowed to do this (to afk farm)… it was clarified by the game support lead just a little ways up the thread on this page. AFK farming is against the rules.
~EW
Yeah, so glad it was! I understood it was, I probably should have worded that paragraph better!!
Players camp as it is, that has to be accepted. It doesn’t affect other users playing the game except as a visual distraction.
They can upscale events, which does affect other players.
The AFK farmers can also end up downed or defeated, with other players not realising they are AFK farmers, trying to revive them to be helpful, whilst still struggling against mobs. This is affecting other players too.
They can also park themselves near a renowned heart, killing mobs that appear before someone who wants to do the renowned heart genuinely.
And on the point of this thread, the point being are they allowed to do this – if the green light is lit for anybody to do this, then there will be an imbalance of the trading post economy, which does affect other players.
I like Map Exploration a lot too – but I think I’d rather re-do it on another character. I have 2 of each class 100% Mapped, except for only one revenant and three thieves. I like to try different builds with each exploration.
However, what I would like to see is a sort of mentor button, where if I have my character with 100% map completion, I can help a friend out with theirs, and the button doesn’t make it disappear, but greys it out, so I can see what isn’t explored for them yet and help them with it.
Doesn’t sound like a bug to me. Just sounds like you’re unhappy with a feature.
The movie should be based on the forums. Some of the people’s flamboyant drama on these forums are definitely worthy of an Oscar or two.
