Hi Purps,
I’m suspecting there’s a little satire here. Are you basically saying you’re not happy to be playing the same game you paid for alongside other people that get this game for free?
On the surface, it may sound a little unfair, but remember, the F2P players might end up being your future guildies, in-game friends, and even companions that help you in dungeons, raids, WvW etc.
I personally support the Free to Play decision that ArenaNet took. I can imagine it was a decision they took lightly, and they’ve taken careful steps to ensure the disruption to the Trading Post economy and the threat of bothers and gold sellers will be kept to a minimum.
We must embrace and welcome our brothers and sisters who came to Tyria via F2P – they are our future friends, and future purchasers of HoT!
With Love,
Not Mr Gates!
This is more of a suggestion to players than ArenaNet – if you’re looking to do the Mordrem Invasion events for fun rather than to farm the blooms, then I recommend that you don’t try to follow the commander tag.
I’ve managed to do a few events, albeit you get less blooms, but when a commander tag is not around, I get more fun killing the Mordrem, the event is harder and there is little to no culling!
I’ve even gone so far as to not travel across the map to find events, just casually wait for them to arrive nearby, so I don’t end up wasting money on waypoints. Here is a picture of my character Tony anticipating another Modrem attack in Kessex Hills.

For anyone dealing with similar problem: deleting ~/Library/Caches/com.transgaming.guildwars2
helped.
I tried this and it worked for me too. Thank you.
Can beta server run early without staff?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

The Beta Weekend times are the same as the previous two weekend events.
Also, regarding the term “A slap in the face” – I just took another shot of the GW2 Forum Drinking Game. Raises a glass to JT
It still can be called commando, except it’d still be wielding a staff.
You’ve all got it wrong – it should be “Can I have your staff?”
If melee staff is good enough for Sooty, it’s good enough for Thief.
How do we know this is not the Ranger? The official post did not say it was thief.
Ranger will most likely show a pet in the concept art too.
Haha, have fun on your holiday
Thank you, though I think it will honestly be the longest I will be going without logging onto Guild Wars 2 – I don’t know how I’m going to cope without the game, and now knowing Thief Staff reveal is on this week too!
…for a week as I’m on holiday. A country holiday in Devon where there will be no Wi-Fi.
And you choose this week to reveal thief staff!
Still, I love you guys for it being staff thank you!
This game is getting boring, we need new things to do again…bring back the train. Just scale back exp. and drops for low level. Problem solve, newbs and veterans gets what they want.
There’s an entire world out there for you to explore, before HoT comes out, and you’d rather skip the beautiful world of Tyria in favour of repeating the same four champs for hours each day?
When it comes to map completion, I did it slowly on my first character so I could take in the huge, immense and beautiful world of Tyria – I didn’t want to rush it. A few characters later, I started doing Map Completion with a lot of swiftness, especially warhorn type swiftness, as I’ve seen it all before.
However, I’ve now stopped using swiftness again with my current character that I’m doing map completion with. I’m using Warrior this time, with Longbow & Twin Swords. Having much more fun doing map completion slower again than I did when I tried to rush it.
Funny. I don’t desire an individual response, I think this concerns everyone who owns the game why arenenet are helping google to spy on us.
Yes, 100%! But he likes to reply to all with his standard ‘contact support’ and ‘good luck’.
Heaven’s forbid someone actually trying to help people! His or her response was correct – the forums are mostly for players to interact with each other.
I suspect it is to do with accessing the Trading Post though, as The Trading Post is web-based.
Good Luck.

I don’t know if this will fix it for everyone, as I’m on Mac Beta, but I’ve found that when the 7:11:3:191:101 disconnects start happening for me, it fixes when I close the client and shut down my computer.
The DCs only happen when my character is still for more than around 60 seconds when this starts happening for me. Shutting my system down works for me, but can’t say it’ll work for everyone, but worth a shot.
Forum Bug.
Agreed with Zalladi – it sounds like you’re being trolled. Even if not, it’ll have so little effect on you, you won’t notice anyway. Just move on from that/those people.
Also, Welcome to Guild Wars 2 – hope your stay with the game will be a fantastic one with many years of Tyrian enjoyment ahead of you.
I just want to point out, that next week is 3rd Birthday Week for Guild Wars 2. Could be 3 reveals in one as a treat?
Saving the best for last.
Do you really have to create another thread on this?
Seriously, I don’t even care what weapon we thieves get anymore. I just want the reveal to be over and done with.
And by the way, I do care about the profession. I main two thieves in PvE – one for Living Story/Personal Story etc. One for RP. So it was important to me what we got, until this extremely long trite of a Rifle vs Staff war went on for far too long.
OP: Play whichever class you want.
Don’t worry about what people think of your choice of profession. I play both thief and ranger. Thief in PvE, Ranger in PvP. Sometimes I get comments, but I will not let them stop me playing the class I want, or the build I want.
They’ve already said they’ll never do PvP in the open world as it doesn’t create for a friendly environment. It’s also been mentioned that they’ll never do it by players in all the other posts about this.
Suggestion: Defeated players become Mordrem

They’ve already said they’ll never do PvP in open world content, so this wouldn’t work. If I died, I would not want to turn mordrem, I’d want to be able to WP and continue my mission/gameplay.
Oh my god…. I’m sitting presenting my argument and information and explaining why they are valid and all you guys can do is cherry pick, twist words and flat out attack me and my associations simply because you can’t reinforce your points.
Nice job looking out for the profession.
You’re complaining about people countering your arguments as cherry picking and treating it as a personal attack on you, yet it’s ok for:
If I am salty its because every anime freak is dropping common sense to play naruto.
Well, at least they’re not flaming, like most ‘leavers’ do. But really, there are more “I’ve just come back to Guild Wars 2” posts than “I’m leaving” posts, so I think the net migration is in Guild Wars 2’s favour at the moment.
This is another shot in the GW2 Forum Drinking Game though.
That’s because most people who leave the game don’t bother with the forums at all.
Also, a lot of people who return don’t bother with the forums as well.

You really have no argument anymore, if you have to resort to this.
I’m Pro-Staff and I don’t watch Anime. Anything you say on these forums on this subject I’m just going to take with a pinch of… erm… salt, from now on.
I don’t mind debating pros and cons with people with opposing opinions, but when people come up with labels and generalisation like this, then common sense really has been dropped.
No Duelling! I don’t want to see people squabbling over who pwnd whom, and who spammed whom with certain skills in the PvE zones. It’s bad for the community. Keep PvP in the PvP zones please, just like they did in Guild Wars 1.
Also, we’ve already had another repeated Mounts Thread today. We don’t need another Duelling one to add to it!
Anet is not going to give thieves any serious CC because of the ability to spam skills. Tactical Strike and Head Shot are the limit. Maybe some aimable dashes would work but then thieves already have plenty and most of them can be aimed.
Yeah I agree with this, and some aimable dashes where you shadow step or swoop towards your enemy and whack them with the staff, dazing them, would be ok. It’d have to be 6 Initiative for that though I feel.
I hope this guy’s wrong, but thief’s been getting the short end of the stick recently.
(or short end of the rifle. the argument goes on)
I liked that one!
Whatever thief will get, it’s going to suck.
Please tell me where you purchased your crystal ball!
No to mounts!
I’ve just taken one shot of the GW2 Forum drinking game. No doubt when someone adds a .gif I’ll be taking shot 2 real soon.
Hi do you want Zerg vs Zerg in PvE?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947
No thanks.
Unless they plan to reveal Revy’s underwater combat as some kind of single announcement info.
Next week: Spear revelation.
Week after: Trident revelation.
Looks like a new elementalist elite skill to me.
Can’t tell if serious or not.
This doesn’t mean anything.
Nonsense… it takes away the (widely held) belief that staff was out for Thieves because no two elites have gotten the same weapon previously. Now staff is definitely back in play.
It is anything but a widely held belief. The staff hype is a recent phenomenon whose only form of evidence ONE picture and ONE model. Rifle has been around long before, since right after the announcement anet was planning on adding new weapons to the professions. There are decent topics about it, speculation based off of anets track record and the fact that rifle gave things thieves did not have. When anet made that official, the first thing people thought thieves were going to get was rifle. The only reason why staff is a big competitor now is because the players who want it have hyped it very hard and constantly assumed staff based on unrelated data. Its annoying.
Staff was always in play, but you guys still have a picture and a model that could easily be discarded. Kinda like those few sword skills for tempest.
You’re still on the denial stage mate. Move on to bargaining already!
As far as I know, you’re not forced to use SMS authentication. I don’t have a mobile phone at all myself, so I don’t use it. I only have e-mail authentication myself.
Some classes getting more beta's than others
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947
This has to be said everytime the game has beta’s we as a community can participate in, but I’ll say it again.
The purpose of a beta is NOT for us to have fun and enjoy the upcoming content (in this case the Xpac)!
The purpose is to test stuff. As specialisations are not the things needed to be tested, it does not matter for the purpose of the beta.Off course that doesn’t mean you are not allowed to have fun and enjoy the upcoming content. That is a very pleassant side effect. Just stop mixing purpose and side effect up!
We are meant to have fun whilst testing though! They tell us to!
Have Any Sylvari Heard Mordremoth?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947
No, and I don’t think Mordremoth will ever speak to any PC, because I don’t think the player base would forgive ArenaNet if they were forced upon being turned into a villain.
I still don’t understand why people think this will happen.

Does the Mentoring Icon show up in the mini-map?
And if so, what steps can/are being taken in that it doesn’t make commander tags redundant?
(I don’t have a commander tag myself)

For all we know, Auto-Loot could be the first Mastery in the line.
I just watched an informative video.

I see you also posted about this in Rubi’s post asking what we want to know about a certain Mastery Line.
Neither the time or a place for you bringing up WoW, mate. I mean, it’s nice that you’re happy for another game and all, but perhaps you should try reddit or something instead to bring up other games in the GW2 forums?
I like the sound of the Pact Commander Mastery, although I hope some players don’t use the suggested “special icon” to troll newer players rather than help.
You need more faith in our community! Guild Wars 2 players are the most helpful players in any online game I’ve ever played.
People are chatting in Divinity’s Reach right now, but in /say chat instead of /map chat. People in DR tend to hang near [Minister’s Waypoint] and speak in /say. I do think you’re right that /map chat is used less, but I wouldn’t say that’s because we’re unfriendly.
You know me, I always asked how everyone is in map chat, and I rarely if at all get berated for it!
Coming from Piken Square, I can honestly say that I’m surprised by your view, OP (I thought your EU account is on Piken too, am I mistaken?). I can’t speak for the other servers, but I can honestly say that the players from Piken are the friendliest people you can ever meet.
I’m really surprised by this thread.
Guild Wars 2 HoT Release Date? [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947
I watched it when they announced this. When the guy first started talking I had my fingers crossed, hoping she was going to say they’ll announce the date on Sunday or something, but alas, it is not ready for that yet!
I also felt a tear form in my eye when the lady with the cool hair said she loves the Roleplay community near the end. <3
Well to be honest, as a mostly PvE or RP player, the WTS has no interest to me.
However, I will also argue that if Guild Wars 2 doesn’t do WTS then yeah, it’d probably indirectly fall behind other games. From what I’ve seen in mainstream news, WTS and eSports is a fast growing event. It’d be foolish if ArenaNet didn’t use this opportunity to get Guild Wars 2’s name out there.
And you can also imagine the countless threads on these forums if ArenaNet didn’t too: “Why don’t ArenaNet put Guild Wars 2 on WTS? They spend a lot of money giving us Living Story, this is a slap in the face if you PvP” etc.
Also, I imagine $140,000 a year is a small amount compared to the overall annual budget of getting Guild Wars 2 out there.
Ah, the old “oops, I accidentally bumped my own thread” trick.
We don’t need yet ANOTHER melee weapon. I hope we get rifle, as cool as melee staff sounds on thief, is as someone above Me said, redundant…
There are equal Melee weapons are there are ranged. When it comes to weapon skills, there are actually already more ranged skills than melee when it comes to weapon skills.
As long as we get the choice to turn it off, I wouldn’t mind it if it happened. Though, I wouldn’t say it’s a top class priority to have either, I’m afraid.
PvE and PvP has megaservers now so all the unofficial role playing servers no longer exist.
I have to disagree with you. Whereas yes, the Megaservers came into place, people of Piken Square at least, have still retained their identity, even the ones who only RP and don’t do any WvW.
Usually if I am switching zones, I almost always end up in a ‘Piken Square’ shard.
Piken Square is more than just a server, Piken is the people too.
