I think arenanet are not behind this. A lot of people say that it is NCsoft. I don’t know for sure, but from my experience with arenanet, i don’t think they would come up with this kind of cheap sale offers…
You’ll find that all of the systems they use to limit loot, DR, nerfs, RNG are designed specifically by NCsoft. That’s why I’m extremely leery about Wildstar. I refuse to buy the thing at launch because this kind of thing with the loot didn’t start with GW2 until 2 months after launch.

In town it’s ok. Cause there it’s good for RP to have hats for characters that are children for example.

Because sure, you would only get 1-5 t6 mats but a zerg as a whole would get 50-250. Multiply that by all the champions getting killed and suddenly there’s thousands being generated every minute.
Open world drops won’t be good at an individual level until there’s an anti-zerg mechanic.

Any name of an established franchise will always sell more, it is why all hollywood is remakes and sequels. So they took the Guild Wars name, used a similar setting, and sold their mmo with it. More people bought it because it has the Guild Wars name on it even though it is not a similar game at all.

So everyone else decided this was actually a thread about how bad/good underwater combat is and how to fix it.
I want an underwater zone (when the underwater dragon is revealed) where the bottom is impossibly deep and incredibly black (such that if you try to swim down too far you would get a warning that the pressure is too much, similar to the current being too strong on map edges) where the meta zone dragon lieutenant will slowly come into view from below out of the unending deep.
No warning, a random spawn point and just all of a sudden it comes into view.
Pants will be filled. I don’t imagine many people will like it since it can be a serious phobia for some people.
and then it goes and sits in its predetermined fixed position where we get to attack its hands because this game can’t handle actual big monsters moving
they were too lazy to make new npcs so they just picked some random ones
I love how we get a decent boss fight for the temp dungeon while the others remain boring forever.

they promised big rangers changes before and failed to deliver so don’t expect much

I find the music to be pretty good and a lot of it plenty memorable. Although, there is a lot of that “fanfare” stuff in the story that is pretty lack luster =/ (especially when traehearne is around…. the main story in general was just kind of lacking after the first half and even that first half was only decent; but lets not beat a dead horse).

So did the entire original anet design team get fired or something? This is seriously disgusting and insulting to me as a serious charr player. I used to be able to point to this game as one of the only examples of making a beast race female right, but not any more.
There are, however, several items in the cash shop that would suffer if people could just mail themselves stuff, including the bank consumable and storage space. For a game without a monthly fee, money has to be made somehow. Hence the restriction.
Wrong. Monthly fees were only needed like 10+ years ago when bandwidth and storage actually cost a considerable amount to buy and run. Companies just kept the fees because people were used to them and didn’t know why they were needed, so it’s basically a free money scam at this point. WoW’s upkeep and development costs are paid entirely by box sales. Just because other companies are bad doesn’t give Anet an excuse to be too.
just did our first bounty in my smaller guild with ~8 people doing it, didn’t find either target, extremely discouraging after taking so long to even unlock it
Well, I have to disagree there Zudet. Small guilds HAVE to focus a lot more on working together just to exist. That statement just doesn’t make sense.
ALso, if you do the missions with 5 – that’s great – but how did you unlock the later mission types so quickly with 5 people? Or is your guild much larger than you suggest? Two targets in 15mins, incl trying to locate the mobs has so far proved unsuccessful for us. One yes, but the time limit expires before we get to the 2nd.
Also, we don’t want the same identical rewards – that has been put to rest a long time ago. We just want to enjoy the content or a lower scaled reward at worst.
You’re right I phrased that poorly. Small guilds don’t work together in large groups mostly because they don’t like large groups and want to be exclusive to people they already know. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself but it tends to lead to the problem I mentioned.
My guild is very large but we run our large organized on the weekends and small group who need the reward during the week. If I can’t join on the weekend we do 5-10 person runs. 5 is pretty difficult. When we have completed it we get 2 easier bounties and usually send 1 person to get a jump start on searching while the other 4 go to the other site. If you can get 10 people it becomes almost trivial.
And you ARE getting the content with a lower reward now. You get guild bounties and an influence reward instead of the full reward. But people aren’t happy with that. they want the full rewards and say the content it “useless” without it.
it is literally useless because it can’t be used to unlock any of the other guild mission content
Prelaunch it sounded like dungeons would branch randomly dynamically through the different paths as you played through them, also there would be a bunch of random interrupt events that could happen. Story mode will be easy for regular players, but explorable will hard and require organized teamwork to beat. SO MUCH FOR THAT.

The real problem is this game should not have been designed with a scummy cash grab gimmick for cosmetics instead of a proper system.
Even free to play MMOs do it better. Champion’s Online: soul bind an item and the skin is unlocked for your account, go to a tailor and you can change your armor/weapon to look like any other one you have ever equipped, and dye it at the same time. Cash shop to unlock skins you don’t have yet, or exclusive shop skins.
GW1 had constant skill updates and even complete overhauls. GW2 has far far less skills and combinations but you are lucky to see some minor tweaks every couple months and so much is just totally broken still. What happened?

What kind of materials should one be able to salvage from an ascended item?
Salvaging ascended could have a chance at getting the various fractal mats like vials, globs, shards etc.
Maybe salvaging a non infused ring has a good chance at a vial, small chance of a glob.
Infused one would be good chance at a glob, small chance of a shard.
Wouldn’t really be anything special but it’d be something.
The problem with that is you would still end up with useless crap. I have 42 Shards and nothing to use them for, I already have every infused ring I could ever want.
Shards are significantly MORE useful then rings are though. At least shards can be used to infuse and upgrade things. And they will continue to be useful as more ascended items are introduced. I suspect infusing a two handed weapon will probably take dozens of shards. and who knows what a full set of infused armor will be. A ring will always be just that, a useless ring.

I would love to have my own home, and a guild hall would be beyond awesome, all my guildies want it really bad!
There is an instance in each character’s racial home city which acts as a ‘home’ in as much as it changes to reflect decisions made in your personal story. You can’t purchase anything or adapt it other than through choices made in your story.
literally the only difference between my charr starting instance before doing anything and after beating the whole personal story are some skritt hanging out in a side room of one building
