hello Osicat,

with the April 15 changes to sigils, what would u change on your build? Stacking sigils will lose stacks (not sure if switching or swap out), and what 2 sigils would u put on GS?

Miasmic Spiritsong was the commander for Caedas. I was in CDS at that time, when Miasmic left the game it was kinda done with CDS in WvW as guild.

You are correct Alpaca Owl was in Choo (he wasn’t in the beginning, but he joined later on), I still remembered following him around every Saturday morning when I wake up for some WvW in SoR BL.

I was in Caedas and Miasmic was a great commander, friendly and motivational. He treated you like a friend instead of just another random player.

I hope SoR have some new leadership like those two, they really made the difference in the early days of SoR WvW scene, minus all the elitism attitude compare to other leaderships from the bigger WvW guilds.

Hello, I’m just an average GW2 player, been on SoR since day 1 and don’t plan on going anywhere. I consider myself a so-so WvWer, definitely nothing special. During SoR’s time in the top tiers, I got to fight alongside and against some amazing WvWers, I learned a ton and for that I’m really grateful. I got to see some amazing ‘How the kitten did they pull that off?’ maneuvers from many different guilds and commanders.

Sure, there was some friction now and then, misunderstandings and such. But they were usually quickly forgotten when the actual battle started. But things got, I don’t know “weird”, a bit before season 1 started.

I’m only 1 person and this is only 1 incident. It was a Saturday night, things looked hopping . I popped into a borderland and a small group of players was putting together a havoc squad, so I joined up with them. We weren’t all in the same guild, so I guess that means we were the dreaded “pugs”. Our spokesperson asked in map chat, if the commander would like us do anything specific, then asked again. No answer. So off we go.

We slapped a few dolyaks, picked off reinforcements, and took a supply camp. The commander was attacking garrison, we asked in map if they wanted us to join up with them. This time one of the members of the group that was on TS asked there as well. Still no answer. We go ahead and take a 2nd supply camp after they capture garrison and this exchange takes place.
Map: Hey are you guys that took Stargrove a guild group?
Us: No
Map: Are you in TS?
Us: 2 of us are
Map: Could you guys leave this bl so [blank] can get in?
Us: Why?
Map: You’re not following the commander’s orders and we’re trying to win here.

We asked for orders and didn’t get any. So on our own we stopped supply and reinforcements from getting to garrison during the attack and took 1 fully upgraded supply camp. And we weren’t trying to win? My logic circuits fried at that point, so I said goodbye to my group and logged out (for quite some time actually).

Again this is just one incident, and it may have been very isolated. But that’s what I mean when things seemed to get ‘weird’ for me.

Best of luck to all the guilds that have migrated away and I hope you have a blast wherever you land. Because isn’t the point of playing GW2 to have fun?

wow, that incident was pretty bad, if there were more like that i guess SoR deserved to be where it is at right now.

I was on SoR from Nov 2012 to April 2013 before transferred to TC, so I was there when SoR was fighting to get into T1 and remembered all the tough match up resets against BG. I still remember Indo’s speech:

That was great moment in time, I just cant believe how the “elitism” got so out of control against the PUGs. I still dont like BG, I guess one thing is right about them, they welcome all those that wants to WvW, whether in a WvW guild or just random PUGs.

thanks for this build, is sword / pistol the more offensive weapon combo in terms of play style using this build vs the sword / torch? Or you strictly see sword / pistol as more situational weapon set and prefer to have S/T as the main set?

There is an element of the OP’s version of truth in many guild outings. It is a fact of life, since a certain game increased the playerbase to be very inclusive.

I would suggest rather than be put off by the raid mentality, play the game, find people with similar attitudes to your own and most importantly…….. Do not be afraid to venture out into WVW without the guild.

Agree 100%. I dont understand why people want to log on, be told to use certain skills like a slave. Guild raids in WvW = LOL.

what armor sets and trinkets best suited for S/P build? What are the pros and cons compare to S/D build? Is this build viable for WvW?

I, for one, approve of this upcoming change. When I reached level 80, I slowly started to realize there wasn’t a whole lot of endgame – farming a Legendary being the most realistic goal. It was either that or grinding WvW.

Now, two things stop me from playing WvW: one, I have a sort of bad pc, resulting in crashes a lot. Two, I simply do not enjoy PvP. I didn’t enjoy it in any of the games I’ve played so far, with perhaps the exception of Halo.

Realizing World Completion included WvW maps made me feel slightly uncomfortable – I don’t want to go there, I don’t want to get stuck in PvP fights. And this is really where it all starts.

PvEers should not be forced to play PvP. And PvPers shouldn’t be forced to play PvE. If someone doesn’t enjoy to play either, why all the rage? I don’t understand why people get so fed up because other people enjoy other things.

(I’ll be buying my Gift of Battle the 18th)

I agree 100%, dont force PvE players do PvP to get legendary, now go tell Anet make an alternate way to get legendary strictly through PvP. OH WAIT.

SoS here, this WvW season needs to stop. The current system still caters to servers with mass wvw population. If Anet is too stupid to figure out how to balance it, they should just kill it. Or figure out a way how smaller pop servers can be “grouped” into one team per season in order to be competitive.

Solution! I think you don’t have a clear idea of the difference.

Apart from stats differences (which are not very high between exotics and ascended), the most important part is/will be the difference in weapon damage/armor rating of every single piece.

Ascended weapons -> +5% weapon damage compared to Exotic weapons (for example, a gs goes from 995-1100 to 1045-1155, +5% dmg, or an sb goes from 905-1000 to 950-1050, again +5%).

Same goes (if you go check the links in game) for the new ascended armors: +5% to armor rating for every single piece.

This means that a full exo geared character will have a “differential” of about 7-8% to a full ascended geared one. And 8% is a HUGE systemic difference.

And people who love only to do WvW should be able to get the same ascended “rewards” as PvE ones, if they play roughly the same overall time.

That 8% isn’t going to help that pve farmer win anything in wvw against wvw veterans who are in exotics.
Even in wvw with the old bloodlust, that +150 stat points wasn’t going to make you a better player.

Let’s say I’m a veteran, for argument’s sake. I have a hypothetical guardian I’ve spent hundreds of hours on (it’s my 2nd character, don’t judge me) with mostly ascended gear where possible and the guard buffs.

Now I wanna make a warrior. Bein of short money, I barely put together exotic gear and now have to learn my class playing against people who have +2000 hp over me, +120 condition damage, +120 power, and +8% to all their stats.

Well, that’s fantastic. Who thought that was a good idea?

There will also be some changes coming sooner than that that will go some length to addressing the imbalance in terms of total achievement points in WvW compared to PvE.

I’ve been aware of this build for a while, and to be honest, I can’t say I’ve really ever understood it. It’s basically just a port of the classic sPvP support/bunker build, but you use it as a solo roaming build using dps weapons. If you’re building and traiting for support (the last 2 trees are support trees) with shouts and maxed out boon duration, why not just call a spade a spade and run staff + mace/shield with big symbols and go with a group of 5 and support em? For solo play, somewhere along the lines of 10/30/30/0/0 or 0/5/30/30/5 with more aggressive gearing would be a lot more effective at actually killing things, no? Got to imagine its dang near impossible to actually kill anyone competent (aka, worth your time killing to help your server) 1v1 with that defensive of a build (sure, you can kill upleveled bads with it, but same goes for just about any class and build + level 80 gear). If your goal is to just be tanky, never die but not be able to kill anyone worthwhile either, and spit out long duration boons, you may as well be doing it with a bunch of allies with ya and with real support weapons, no?

Quick side note: how do you ever actually hit anyone good with ZD 1v1 without scepter to immob them first? That’s like… impossible XD

In short, here’s the logical disconnect in this build: you’re built very defensively with great team support characteristics, but wielding aggressive DPS weapons that dont synergize the best together, and you’re using that to roam solo and try to kill things, not to defend or support things. That makes no sense.

while I share the same sentiment about this build, but it’s been around for a while and based on OP’s videos and his loyal following, it seems to work for them. I tried it for few weeks (earlier in the year) but didnt quite get it, so I went back to AH build. But I mostly blame that on myself.

what’s the age range of your guild members? I am 30+, so not really looking for a guild that’s full of high school or college kids…

New maps take a long time to be built. And even once they are built it takes a long time to get them tested until they are ready to be released. Rest assured, as soon as we can release new maps, we will. And, while it isn’t an entirely new map, you can look forward to some changes to the borderlands soon. Let’s just say you should get your krait killing in now.

we want more than just new maps, if you havent noticed how often living story is applied to PvE, we want that kind of content update to be applied to WvW. Please make it happen and stop treating WvW players like garbage.

I juts hope noone take offence but I always dance a little jigg before start killing if im in a spvp game and find a GS mesmer, same in wvwvw when romaing. Im kinda sure BS thefs do the same but stand back and wating for the right moment.

is your event calendar in PST or EST? I noticed the guild missions starts at 5:30PM, I assume you dont have many worker bees as members, that time is nearly impossible to make for those that work full time.

Because there is no way to distinguish what server you are on, many guilds will pass over your thread simply because they don’t have time to read through them all. Make sure you post your server name or acronym (like Fort Aspenwood would be FA) and the type of guild you’re looking for ((if you want to do both PvE content and some PvP, for instance, you’re looking for a PvX guild) INSIDE of your thread topic.
So this might look like:
“Returning Player looking for PvX guild on FA”

Help us find you by being as specific as possible! I guarantee you’ll get better results this way. If you have any advice to help people find a good guild, please feel free to post here.

The entire guild I am apart of on TC was disappointed when we saw that we were still matched up against BG and SOR Friday. Pretty much all of the main WvW guilds have decided to sit out of WvW and do fractals and other PvE stuff instead of give the other two servers free bags it would seem.

I’m sorry but this is aggravating for the guilds who actually do WvW on TC. Please next time you post, put what guild you are in because you or your guild doesn’t represent TC as a whole.

We are having a blast in Tier 1 and working with other TC guilds. If you are disappointed with this, do us a favor and just transfer off.

P.S. Guild Wars 2 is a great game. To you, personally, it might not be. That’s your opinion, however wrong it is. The millions of current players, and the Chinese players who are going to be added end-2013/early-2014, also think it is a great game.

With ESO coming out, this game will become another WoW wannabe with some gear grind but no raid content (lol). Anet chose to please the PvE crowd, and they should pay for it dearly.
