Zhaitan’s not even technically a boss, he’s part of the background.
I’m surprised there’s anyone left in cursed shore right now to even notice these things…
You’d be better off joining a guild rather than trying to put together a group of people from different guilds. For most people, playing with guildmates takes priority. Once you join a guild, the friendships start to form more naturally than this sort of thing. Shop around until you find a guild with the right size, activities and people for you.
It appears Tanished Coast is a FULL world that I cannot transfer too…
Any other suggestions :<
Tarnished Coast gets a lot of hype but there are other awesome, well-rounded servers out there, like Yak’s Bend
I often see map chat used on my server; conversations get started all the time about game or random unrelated stuff. If the mood strikes me, I can be chatty in game but I’m not met with such apprehension as the OP describes…
If this is indeed true, I’m glad my interest in fotm dropped severely after I finished my backpiece.
The first one looks better. The second one looks too bulky.
The best PvE moment was the story mission where you go up the Arah steps. The key here is the music. It sounds very regal but also that a battle is coming up. Made me flash back to the good times of Orr.
Is that the mission where you are guided through a “vision” by the avatar of the Pale Tree? That music was great.
I don’t mind having more currencies as long as they follow the same format as gold, karma and laurels – ie, they don’t take up inventory/bank space like dungeon tokens. We have enough of those.
Indeed it is, Debsylvania. You get it by collecting samples in Southsun Cove.
Interesting! I saved a few sentinel rares so I can check.
To my knowledge only the senitnel insignia and inscriptions dropped during the dungeon, not recipes to make them. You could also salvage insignia and inscriptions from sentinel gear that dropped from mobs in MF. I honestly haven’t checked if this stat combination is now craftable, either buying the recipe from the master crafter or through discovery with azurite. But then I also haven’t noticed any azurite drop since the MF closed, so supplies may be limited.
We’ve never been able to salvage insignias and inscriptions from finished armor/weapons before… has this worked for you?
No one knows yet if transmuted legendaries will be upgraded when Ascended weapons are added. Anet haven’t said, it’s possible they don’t even know yet since I don’t think they’re working on Ascended weapons so they may not know how they’re going to work.
But I suspect if they can they’ll upgrade transmuted legendaries just because of the kitten storm they’ll get if they don’t.
Yeah, pretty much this. A mystic forge recipe to ascend the triforge pendant has set a precedent so we should all expect the same courtesy for legendaries that were transmuted, considering that legendaries take even more time and effort (or $$) than the triforge pendant.
They should release a manssiere
……….Mulva?
Here’s mine. Still can’t decide on the colours.
The white and gold version looks great!
My perfect party set up consists of friendly people with a sense of humor about the game. I can’t tell you how many terrible people I’ve partied with over the last week.
If you’re kicked due to inexperience, just lie and follow players to hide it. Most people won’t take notice.
Nooooo… OP please don’t follow this advice, ever. On your lfg posts, state you are new. That will weed out all the “kittenholes” that would kick you in the first place. You can’t hide inexperience especially since a lot of encounters have specific mechanics and you will only be more of a burden if you don’t know what you’re doing and stay quiet about it.
I was never that big on farming but I very recently started spending more time in the Cursed Shore and have been loving it, until the patch… I don’t understand why the million vet spider hatchlings don’t even give xp, let alone loot. That’s just a slap in the face in my opinion.
You’ve kind of answered your own query, OP. “I love guardian! Why are there so many other guardians?”
I don’t notice it as much. I see more warriors around than guardians.
Sounds like you need to find new friends. I’ve grouped with lower level guild members through fotm lvls 1 and 2, and they just did fine. I wouldn’t take more than 2 people under lvl 50, however.
hahaha, thanks for sharing. $$$$$$$$
Interesting the OP doesn’t like the water droplets. It’s one of the little things that I so appreciate. The graphics are amazing in this game.
Since they will be introducing ascended weapons eventually, once that happens they will upgrade legendary weapons to have ascended stats since legendary weapons will always be “best in slot”. So once that happens, exotic weapons will be like rares are now, second best. Sorry I don’t have the direct link to this info off the top.
Yeah this freaked me out yesterday, haha. I don’t like it. Too distracting and what in the world is the point of it.
if by enchant you mean add an upgrade to it, just double click on the upgrade in your Hero panel, then click on the armor you want to apply it to.
After about 10 rerolls (I’m not even kidding) I settled on a human female for my guardian. I had wanted to try norn female because I was inspired by a few different amazing norn female guardians but I had an issue with the proportions on norn bodies. So I went with what I identify with most (human female, just like me) and I love her
Just posted a screenshot of her last night in the Guardian forum thread. If you haven’t yet checked it out, you can look through a lot of different screenshots there.
My advice is to go with as much berserker gear as you can handle. Phase it in until you find a balance you are comfortable with.
Urgh… I hope they don’t up the cap. If I have to replace my lvl 80 ascended gear I will blow my top.
3 – I don’t see any reason for kicking that player. They are optimizing their performance for every fractal. Sure, it’s a bit of a time sink but I sure as heck perform better when I take a few seconds to switch my weapons and utilities between encounters.
Repeatedly causing multiple 3-5 minute delays, even though the party is asking you to just do it and not switch, is not the same as asking for 10-15 sec for a skill to go off cooldown or switching weapons.
I wasn’t there, so I don’t know how it happened exactly, but I could see why this could possibly lead to a kick.
If it takes as long as 3-5 minutes each time, I can absolutely see how that could be frustrating and cause a kick! If I ever switch characters it takes me less than a minute so I had replied with that figure in mind.
Here is my guardian, Astra Solari. Going for Sunrise right now and after that, saving up for the Scythe staff skin. Can’t wait!

1 – If they can survive without AR, I don’t care. If they say they can avoid it but are consistently being downed by agony I think it would be appropriate to remove that player. We are responsible for knowing our own limits, it’s not fair to the rest of the team if you join a level that is too high for you. As for that specific situation, anyone can avoid agony in Aquatic Ruins without even trying so it’s not a very good indicator of agony avoidance skills.
2 – I can see how this gets annoying. I’ve been on a few parties when a constant complainer was kicked. Most of the time they were complaining over the smallest of things that weren’t even a problem, calling people names etc. rather than being helpful about it. So if a kick request popped up I would probably vote on it. The way I see it is that I play GW2 for fun and like to surround myself with nice people. It’s not fun when someone is berating people the entire time. All that said, I wouldn’t support using them for the entire run then kicking them at the end. That would make you just as bad as the other person.

Hmm… it’s an odd one. I’ve had it happen maybe 4 or 5 times since release but it’s usually fixed if I join another party.
10 daily runs over level 10 = 1 ascended ring of your choice that you can buy with pristine relics, so don’t rely on the random drops. It does stink that you are getting disconnected just before you can get the pristine relic These tokens come from the daily chest at the end of Jade Maw, same one that (maybe) drops a ring.
I wouldn’t go so far as to call the other party members trolls, however… maybe they didn’t notice you were gone or didn’t know if you were coming back, etc. Next time you’re in a party, I recommend to let them know in advance that you are having connection issues with Jade Maw so if they see you disappear, please wait!
Sorry mate, you put it out there that it was for the Golden title, people are bound to start talking about it.
I wouldn’t pass on that kind of advice since buying a trait book to reset your points is more expensive than simply paying the merchant to reset your points directly.
I never see people identify themselves as support in their lfgs
What is the worth of a title if you didn’t do a single thing but have a rich friend to get it?
D/D = Dagger/Dagger. D/P = I’m guessing Dagger/Pistol.
Geotherma, I have a question. The video guides were made to be exactly what they claim to be—guides. That is, they are the result of the GW2 community reaching out to help players who haven’t done or struggle with certain dungeons to complete them (or complete them more efficiently). With that in mind, I guess I have three questions:
- How is it detrimental to the community spirit of the game to ask players to reference guides established as part of a community effort?
- Is it selfish of me to tell a person asking for details about the effect of Precision to type “/wiki precision”?
- If the easiest and most efficient way to teach someone is to have them reference materials composed as a community effort, how is it against the spirit of the community to direct them to those materials?
1. Because they have to stop playing the game to do the research. When should a player ever be asked to STOP playing the game to learn how to enjoy it?
2. If you don’t know the answer then no, if you do then you can state a simple answer and do as I do and say “There is also probably more info than I can type in the /wiki about that”. Which is both respectful and has yet to get anyone upset.
3. If you have already done a run with the person at that point I believe it is ok as a friendly tip to link or suggest certain videos that could help them get a more in depth look at the dungeon.
All the things you listed can be done in a respectful and tactful manner, without ever harassing the player.
I have a bone to pick with situations like #2. There are some people out there that never bother to attempt at any research on their own (a simple google or wiki search) and ask the most basic of questions on the forum or in map chat. I don’t think it should be considered rude or upsetting to refer people to the wiki. Some people need to learn to be more self-sufficient – if people keep up the hand holding, they will never learn. Just a pet peeve of mine… This is coming from a very helpful person that has reached her breaking point with responding to simple questions… anyway, back to the topic at hand…
Apologies, it’s easy to assume these things are happening to you specifically since you seem so heated about it and wrote so much text about it.
Practically everything you mentioned above can be avoided by being smart when looking for a group as I stated in my first post. Post your intentions to avoid being invited to an “elitist” group and don’t join groups that advertise for certain gear, speed runs etc. Most if not all people that are looking for certain gear, speed runs, etc. will indicate that in their post to weed out players they don’t want to play with, so other players can do the same thing, just the other way around. I rarely interact with people I find unpleasant because it’s not that hard to pick out the jerks on the lfg site.
2, either options a or c.
While I have already transmuted over two super skins because I got sick of looking at them, the super shortbow skin (and I guess longbow since they look pretty much the same?) is the coolest bow skin the game so far, IMO. Got it on my thief. I agree that the legendary bows are terrible but again, JMO.
First main, Elementalist… Second main, Mesmer… Third and one true main, Guardian!
Yak’s Bend is great, lots of friendly people all over the place. I cannot remember a time when I felt like I was the only one in a zone.
Just because you haven’t experienced it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. My wife looked for a party, once she got one and mentioned she had never done the dungeon they kicked her. Has happened to about 20 guild mates as well. Youtube guides are good, but why should people have to research the dungeon on youtube and guides just to enjoy them? Why can’t people simply run them and experience them and learn? Same thing goes for gw2lfg, why should you have to spend your time out of game to find a group or to do research. It makes no sense that you have to prepare for 45 minutes for a dungeon just to do one. you should be able to enter and adjust, and learn, not be one shotted and gear checked by elitists.
Other games allow you some leniency in dungeons or instances and the leader usually helps anyone who is new understand what is coming and what to do. Here you have silent parties and people just dpsing or glitching everything to get to the end. Not ok with it? They kick you.
Hold on a sec. Your wife plays GW2 and you also have at least 20 guild mates… so why are you looking for pugs so often where you don’t know anyone else? Get a full guild party together or start with one or two people you know and post to the lfg site specifying you are new to the dungeon and don’t want to skip or glitch stuff. You will then get either (or a combination) of the following people joining up with you: a) other newbies or b) helpful experienced players that want to teach you the dungeon. Either option will eliminate discrimination based on being new.
Yikes, find a new guild!
I run coe every day, not that hard to find a group on the lfg site but Khyber feel free to add me and let me know if you ever want to run it. I also want to add hotw to my regular schedule so I’m up for that, too!
Lots of people all over the pve zones on the Yak’s Bend server… I’m wondering if you joined a server in the wrong region perhaps?
3 humans and 1 sylvari. My humans look mostly the same… I’m creative.
