MF is just short for “Go ahead and put a bonus RNG value on our RNG so you get more RNG!”.
If you think about it, 150% more random isnt exactly better than just plain random…
Yo dawg, I heard you like RNG…
…are you sure that someone wasn’t just trolling you by pinging his crafted weapon after Jormag?
Hah, I wouldn’t doubt this. There is a player on Yak’s Bend that likes to ping his Dawn at every world event he’s at.
Why can’t they level on their own? Don’t mean to be rude but it’s really easy, doesn’t take long and it’s not even that boring… Anyway, I should contribute to the question at hand here. The fastest way to level other than crafting is through dungeons since each run gives you 70% (I believe) of the level’s xp. So they can get themselves to 35 then start doing AC explorable mode.
I’m working towards Sunrise right now… I’ve been in love with that skin ever since I first saw it. I’ve wavered a bit on my decision here and there because I kind of like the dark swinging effect on Twilight more, but the hilt on Sunrise is just so gorgeous that I am not changing my mind again!
Oh right, I overlooked the xp you get per WP/POI/etc. but my final rewards for 100% were 3 transmutation stones, and that was it!
Do you get xp from exploring the cities? Why am I remembering receiving 3 transmutation stones as my only reward… :/
You get xp, armor and skill points by doing map completion. That’s the first thing I’d recommend – explore your starter zone. you’ll go up a few levels, get skill pts from leveling and from the map, you’ll get armor from drops or karma vendors after you complete their heart quests…
Another tip is to buy harvesting tools as soon as you have some copper on you since harvesting will give you more xp and you can use the materials to start crafting, if you’re interested in that.
Also, complete your story missions for more xp (you get lots from those). After completing your starter zone and doing your story missions, if you still need to go up a few levels before you can move up to the next level zones then I suggest exploring another race’s starter area. You can get to them from Lion’s Arch. To get to LA, go through Heart of the Mists (click on the pvp icon at the top of the screen) – there is an asura gate there that will take you to LA, which has more asura gates to take you to the other cities and starter zones.
Thanks for the info, it will be useful!
Hmm… this has made me realize that one of my officers who I am in constant competition with is beating me in achievement points… Sorry legendary, looks like you’re on the sidelines while I figure out how to get dem points…
A thread about this armor pops up once in a while. I’m eagerly waiting for it to (please, please, please) come out eventually. Maybe it will be released as ascended or legendary armor? I fell in love with this skin before the game was released because it was used in a lot of the lead up blog posts, etc. I also saw it used in a promo picture in the gem store. They like to torture me with it.
Cultural weapons are not bound by race so no transmutation required.
Oh! Good to know. I will have to take a look around now, since the human cultural weapons are pretty boring IMO.
You might want to transmute the weapons onto Exotic weapons though, since the cultural stuff are all Rare quality items.
Yeah that post from me was a long time ago. All my 80s have exotic/ascended gear :P
Toggle right-click targeting so I can turn it off forever.
Free Dawn with the update. Just for me.
I believe they did thin out the undead herd in a past update. I don’t visit Orr that often so I don’t mind it when I do.
There are always at least 2 people in my pug groups that are scared of the hammer.
Well, I don’t like to take hammer on my warrior because if I do it, then those p\v\t guys will have to spend ages killing cultists. I just can help charge up the hammer faster with mah axe.
See, that’s good information to know! Unfortunately in my past experiences in Cliffside, no one is willing to provide a reason as to why they won’t take the hammer. I literally got no response when I used to bother asking.
Sooo pretty much get alcohol poisoning on one fractal level? :P
Other players’ behaviour shouldn’t stop you from getting that achievement, if I’m not mistaken… I got mine by not triggering any traps on a run, and I’m pretty sure other people were triggering them during that instance. I can’t think of an example where someone else would keep you from getting it.
That’s not really the point of this thread. Actually, it’s the opposite; should people who use periods at the ends of their chat sentences be seen as arrogant? Is proper grammar and punctuation a sign that someone is being arrogant? I think that notion is ridiculous.
I agree with you. I was responding to other comments above talking about judging people based on their poor grammar. I wasn’t the first to bring it up.
Most people I see go down in dungeons a lot tend to stand still, whether that is inside of an AoE circle or standing still in front of a mob in melee range, soaking up their hits. No class can just stand there and attack in a dungeon. Great idea to practice your dodges and know your limits. CoE for example becomes pretty easy once you know how to time your dodges right.
The Guardian class is very forgiving if you make a mistake – even when your healing skill in on CD. We have access to 2 aegis skills plus Renewed Focus which makes you invulnerable and recharges your virtues, giving you instant access to another aegis. With Altruistic Healing I can refill half of my health using staff skill 4 (not to mention all the other boons we throw around). I tend to pop aegis when I’m healing with staff skill 4 so I don’t get downed while floating about :P
And I do recommend using your ranged weapons once in a while. Your DPS might suffer vs using a GS all the time, but remember (and I can’t stress this enough) that lower DPS is better than no DPS (aka dying)! I keep a GS, hammer, staff, scepter and shield in my inventory at all times and am always switching my weapons out, but knowing what to switch to in each encounter will come with experience and will vary with each Guardian depending on your comfort level and play style.
If you ever want to try CoE again (or any other dungeon) I’d be happy to tag along with ya. Good luck to you!
Trahearne.
Oh, wait a second…
Looking down on someone for not showing perfect grammar in a MMO chat window is extremely arrogant in my opinion. Who cares if people aren’t perfect in chat? I’d rather make a couple of typos, skip “the” and not die rather than make sure to type perfectly in the middle of a dungeon, holding back progress.
So from this thread we have people saying don’t use rares, and others saying to use rares. I’ve spent probably around 60-70g in the last couple of weeks on rares in the toilet and I think I’ve learned my lesson. I’m going to try saving up for my precursor instead… but the turlet keeps calling out to me… shut up!
This is the problem though, the Multi-Guild system was intended to allow people to join Multiple Guilds and have fun with all of them. By you guys enacting this “Rep or Leave” rule, people don’t rep the other guilds. It only gets worse when you guys actually gain membership #’s.
I just can’t agree with this. Guilds like mine that have a 100% representation “rule” are made for players that do not want to be in more than one guild so it’s not even technically a rule, IMO. We make our intentions clear before an invitation is sent – what the guild does, the kind of members we have, representing, etc. so only people of like mind join up and are happy to represent because the guild is what they were looking for and meets all their needs. There are plenty of guilds that don’t care if you represent – those are for the people that want to be in multiple guilds. There is only an issue with the “rule” if the guild leadership doesn’t make their intentions clear in advance. Those guilds will see a lot of turnover from dissatisfied players and that’s on them. I’m happy to say that my guild sees extremely minimal turnover, if any at all.
I only use periods at the end of chat when I mean business so if I see someone else using a period, I think “uh oh!” unless they always use periods. It’s not really arrogant, some people do it, and some don’t. No biggie!
I write a lot in my day job but I’ll admit that my GW2 chat grammar is poor. If we’re not on mumble, I will sometimes skip words in chat so I can get it over with faster. Sometimes it will seem as though English is not my first language, hehe. I’ve noticed it started to wear off just a bit on some of my guildmates. Sorry, guys!

Man, it’s nice to not be that person once in a while. We all get our turn, take one for the team!
There are always at least 2 people in my pug groups that are scared of the hammer. Most of the time it’s either me (guardian) or my guild fractal partner (a berserker mesmer) taking turns with the hammer. When I used to have my elementalist in fotm, she was also carrying the hammer a lot. I used to ask the heavies to assist but I stopped after a while because I always got crickets in return. I’d rather alternate with the hammer rather than have someone with low health pick it up, or someone not listening to “drop it” in chat and downing themselves.
All that aside, Cliffside is still one of my favourites!
Why isn’t this fixed yet, it makes me sad
I had to laugh at the story about an otherwise experienced player getting kicked for not knowing an exploit. Oh, mercy. Who are these people out there?
It’s unfortunate that some jerk guild groups make players weary of joining other guild groups. I like to think of pugging as a guild recruitment tool so we are always nice and welcoming to other people, and we don’t typically kick anyone unless they become abusive to one of us or another pugger.
Yeah, I like this!
I’m on my 47th clover and I’m steadily riding the 3/10-ish average.
/cheer congratulations!
ZenonSeth, I’m curious if the guild you’re talking about told you in advance that they required repping?
We all know that you lose the infusion when upgrading an ascended trinket in the mystic forge so if someone decides to stick an expensive infusion in the amulet, that’s on them. Besides, if someone wants to infuse their amulet, that must mean they run fotm on that character – so wouldn’t they rather add an agony resistance infusion to the amulet anyway? An alternative is to have two amulets; a non-infused version with your expensive infusion for pve/dungeon farming, and an infused version for fotm. That’s my plan, anyway. One day…
Well… if you want vials, you should farm levels under 10 because you get globs from 10-19. Or, farm 10-19 for globs and break them down into vials in the mystic turlet. The best fractal for drops is Underground Facility, aka Dredge because of the amount of mobs.
That some bad luck, kind of hard to believe, only advice I have is keep on grinding them or solo swamp, krait, or charr for them. Good luck
Do mobs in Swampland still even drop loot? I haven’t had a drop in there for ages so I assumed they did that to stop people from farming that fractal.
My guild asks for 100% rep – but at the same time, we don’t blanket invite random people and make sure that potential members are aware of the request before they decide to join. So we get members that like to be part of just one guild, everyone is happy. If you want to be part of multiple guilds, don’t join a guild that requests members to rep. it’s that simple!
It’s all about communication. I’ve had three experiences now with the new Ghost Eater – one with guildmates and two with pug groups. The guild group and one of the pug groups went well – because we stopped and talked about strategy before we started the fight and agreed on who pulls, who lifts, and to focus on targets. The other pug group was a disaster. They literally, for some reason, refused to assign roles and would not follow targets. It took forever. Ironically enough, the good pug group consisted of mostly people that have never done path 2 before so they actually listened, while the other group was an “experienced only” know-it-all group that wouldn’t follow anyone’s lead.
Starting a guild is rough if you don’t have a couple of friends (IRL and/or online) to help you kick start things. I was lucky to have gained a few like-minded friends before I started mine. We worked to build some upgrades before we recruited other people because we wanted to offer them something upon joining. If you don’t have a lot of people to help you gain influence, be prepared to spend some gold to speed things up. Even with some friends to help me, I poured quite a bit of in-game money into it – but I’m not very patient
As for recruitment, we do not recruit people in map chat. We typically find our members after we play with them in a pug group etc. If I ever do find someone via the guild forum, we have a conversation before they are invited. While this strategy has made our growth slow, we haven’t had anyone leave the guild.
Speaking of retention, that is the hard part especially in a small guild. You need to be very involved in forming relationships and making sure everyone gets to know each other and plays together. The majority of my past experiences, I joined guilds with an established core of regulars that were not very welcoming of new members. It’s not a good feeling and I had left countless guilds because of it (their loss!)…That’s why I make it a point to make sure that new members feel welcome and part of the community rather than outsiders.
So there is my strategy. It’s worked well for me so far! Good luck to you.

This would be so useful especially for guild missions since we can only fit 5 people in a party!
I’ve been thinking about my reply here for a while now and if anything, I am more busy as leader of my small guild than the small leadership team I used to be a part of in a larger guild was, all together. I’m all about integrating new members into the group, organizing us, etc. while the bigger guild’s members weren’t as involved with one another. Maybe your leader is similar to me and just doesn’t want to lose that small group feeling. It can also be hard for some people to delegate responsibilities if they like doing everything themselves.
I guess I’m lucky because I haven’t had many experiences like this. My guild is great to me and our other female members but we’d probably be a little too casual for your liking. Good luck in finding the right group of people :/
Okay… i’m usually pretty diplomatic in most of my posts but I can’t take it anymore. can people please stop complaining about dailies and monthlies… i can see why some people might be upset about something being too difficult but so flipping what if they are easy?! Sure, you’ll get it a lot faster if you wvw a lot since I can think of at least 3 categories that are perfect to get in there but, and I can’t stress this enough, who cares?!
+1 on both suggestions.
Any player that can stay alive and contribute dps, support and control is fine by me. Don’t care about the class.
You’re asking for 5 people… so you won’t be going on the runs?
I’m not a fan of excluding different professions but if anyone else ever needs assistance with a coe path 1 run, let me know!

Some have suggested to flip the bird around so its tail feathers aren’t in the character’s face. I think that’s a good idea to start with. I also agree that a little more detail around the staff would be nice.
It’s rare for me to go to Orr areas these days so it doesn’t really bother me.
Isn’t that WvW invader’s armor – the one you get with badges?
5 gold in 2 days/4 hours sounds pretty decent for a casual gamer, IMO.

This kind of gear wouldn’t be very popular considering that only damage qualifies you for xp and loot at this point. Healing players during an event, IIRC, doesn’t get you anything. If I’m wrong please correct me!
Bloodstealer, if your guild has guild armorer and weaponsmith unlocked you can purchase armor and weapons that display your emblem in PvE.
It would be cool if the banner displayed the guild’s full name at the least. Being able to write a recruitment message would be cool, too!
Maybe this should go to the suggestions forum if it hasn’t already been posted there.
Wardens of the Flame [fire] is looking for more active, social players on the Yak’s Bend server interested in making some new friends in a small, close-knit environment.
[fire] is pretty casual as most of our members are in their 20s or 30s with other priorities in life. We like to have fun together and prefer to party up for content rather than seeking out a pug. Our members are a mix of players new to the game, at end game content, and everything in between. We are friendly, helpful, easy going and love to laugh!
We are primarily a PvE guild who do dungeons, fractals, dailies/monthlies, open world exploring, leveling alts, etc. together. We also do some WvW if that is what our members feel like doing at the time (like I said, we are casual :P). We have guild bounties unlocked and are currently working towards unlocking guild treks!
[fire] is a NA guild with members spread out across the continent. We are mainly active during NA weeknights and a lot on weekends. We use mumble – having a mic is not mandatory but downloading mumble is appreciated at least to listen in if we are inside a dungeon, fractals or completing a guild mission.
The only “rules” our guild holds up are that we request for members to keep guild chat and mumble clean (some members have children that like to watch them play) and since we like to keep things cozy we ask for members to represent [fire] full time.
Feel free to send me a PM here or add and whisper me in game if you have any questions about us or would like an invite! Thanks for reading
