i’d like more options. it feels like most of the light armor covers the legs from the back. if we could have some pants (AC armor is ugly as heck) or more options for short skirts (the starter armor skirt is nice but i don’t want to see the character’s underwear all the time) that would be great. This is coming from a straight lady that’s bored of the butt capes.
I have pts in toughness and vitality but i focus mostly on vitality. condition damage ignores armor so it’s good to have a larger health pool. but i’m talking about elementalist mostly since we have a really low base health.
Attended/No loot/Received mail
Yeah, I agree. Playing the game with other people makes it a lot more fun.
I think it’s recommended to try switching at times when less people are online like early in the morning (if you’re in north america). Hope you can get onto Yak’s!
I recommend Yak’s Bend. There are always people around in my experience. If you ever choose to switch over, feel free to drop me a line if you’re LFG!
I’m with you, Beckie. I want this armor so bad! Even the gem store advertisement picture for minis shows this armor. It’s always in my face driving me nuts!
I’m assuming it will be out with an expansion or something… but I want it now
I’d love to make my exotics ascended in some way. Right now I don’t think any of the back pieces or rings give Carrion stats (power, vitality, condition damage). I love my build and don’t want to change it
I got vassar’s ring after beating the jade maw on lvl 10 and it makes me weaker so i’m not using it, even in fractals!
Can someone please confirm if their fix to DT worked? pretty please…
I only ever activate my Glyph of Elementals elite when I’m in mist form (some weird habit i guess) so this is bad news for me…
^^^ unless RTL sends you flying backwards right to the enemy even after you have clicked away the target…. ugh…
Anyway, I main a Carrion Elementalist, I am not that experienced in PvP or WvW but I was extremely effective with my staff this past weekend in a few huge zerg battles. I recommend Elementalist

The ones that instantly come to mind for me are the armors from the Sorrow’s Embrace, Honor of the Waves and Citadel of Flames dungeons. I’m talking strictly female though as I haven’t looked at the male versions myself.
Edit: took a look at male and it’s basically same IMO… add to that list the Berserker’s Acolyte armor for males. To me it could pass off as medium armor.
Hope that helps!

I have yet been able to sell an unidentified dye. I just can’t help myself and end up opening them every time. :/ I’ve gotten some decent dyes out of it though, including abyss twice but I didn’t sell them.
I think it’s better to not tip so we don’t start a culture that expects tips like it seemed to be in the first GW… If someone shows up to help that was their choice. I tend to feel uncomfortable if someone tries to send me silver but a potion or food seems like a nice compromise!
I use caledon forest. Typically get my daily done within 10-15 minutes.
you don’t need to defeat all of the jade golemns before you can throw a crystal. my teams always do both at the same time. Kill them as they get close for extra crystals.
When you get the mark over your head, pick up a crystal asap and just stand there, take the hit. If you dodge while holding the crystal you probably won’t absorb the energy.
Cultural weapons are not bound by race so no transmutation required.
Oh! Good to know. I will have to take a look around now, since the human cultural weapons are pretty boring IMO.
I thought this fix was in the patch notes for an update they did a long time ago but i could be wrong… I know that you can transmute cultural weapons (I’ve seen race x running around with race y weapons in game) but I don’t think you can transmute cultural armor anymore??
Once your crystal absorbs his beam (and you are surrounded by an aura), you throw it at his head using skill 1. Before that, the skill slot is blank. It might be a glitch of some sort of it’s not turning into a skill.

^^^ I’m able to invite people on my friends list to my party if they’re on the other side of the (game) world but I can’t invite someone in the same map as me if they are a stranger without having to type their name into the invite window.
I got one after running through fotm maybe 10 times. It was mob loot, not from chest.
The vast majority of the time I cannot simply right click and invite unless the person is on my friends list. I need to type their name into the player window then click invite – then half the time that doesn’t work either, so i have to click “join” even though they’re the only person in their party. It’s very annoying.
From what I’ve seen it looks like most servers are a mix of everything. I’m on Yak’s Bend and I always see people in PvE zones, but there are also people doing dungeons or WvW if that’s my fancy that day. I have been on a few different servers but happily settled down on Yak’s Bend so I recommend it to anyone.
Elementalist all the way. Ele is my main and the first class I rolled in GW2… Get used to getting and keeping aggro basically all the time in group fights. You are constantly on your toes so it never gets boring. But once you master it, it’s pretty sweet. I have no trouble taking on multiple mobs in Orr and I’m usually the last one to die in dungeons. WvW is another story, but that’s the next thing I’m setting out to master.
I’m hoping this is fixed in the next patch but what are the chances of that…
1.5-ish weeks ago I could drop into the lone post event in straits of devastation and make a gold or so in less than an hour to fund my hilariously failed attempts at WvW but lately it’s as though I’ve already hit DR before I even got there. I have enough porous bones and leather straps, thanks.
I’ve always had a hard time finding groups for FoTM as well but it helps me to visit different overflows by entering bloodtide coast and going back into LA.
Unfortunately all of my guild friends have basically written FoTM off because of their frustrations getting disconnected, etc. so PUGs seem to be my only option.
Sorry to tell you but there is no reset. That was wrong and the level doesnt reset.
I think one of the fan sites got the info wrong.
A dev stated clearly there is no reset.
Really? How disappointing. Thanks for clarifying
After going back and forth on the subject in my head for a few days I decided I would try to get some ascended gear, but then I noticed that there was nothing with the stats I want in back pieces… So I guess I’m not going to get some any time soon. And if they don’t release all of the usual stat combos in the future I will probably join in with you folks and totally boycott it.
This is the first monthly achievement I’m actually going to get
only 4 wvw kills left! I really suck at wvw and even I am almost there.
I actually like FoTM a lot, but I have found it impossible to get past level 4. Someone, or more than one person, either disconnects and can’t get back in or people become frustrated and quit in the middle of it.
I’m looking forward to the difficulty reset (when is it? Friday night??)… hoping to start fresh next week with some more experienced and patient players and get past lvl 4!
Hey, Zoul. Maybe we should all team up and try again?
(edited by rozcinana.7249)
You probably already considered this but were they maybe just some alts that you weren’t aware your existing friends had? Otherwise I don’t know. I will sometimes add people after teaming up in pve/dungeons then can’t remember who they were a couple days later, hehe.
I just want to say that I’m glad to see they put out a survey to gather feedback. Hopefully this means some changes will be implemented in the future. That particular question was not in there but I commented on the large rewards under one of the other questions.
ughhh I have been stuck on lvl 4 for the last 3 days. I’m likely the most experienced at dungeons in my guild (out of the players that are on at the same time as me, anyway) so it’s hard to find guildies to play with, so my only choice is PUGs… Every time I am in a group someone either dc’s or rage quits at the swamp or mining suit/lava fight and it is starting to drive me nuts. That is, if I’m lucky enough to find a group at this level! Don’t mean to complain, I actually like FoTM a lot… it’s just frustrating.
yep… two teammates got dc’d and couldn’t get back in so we had to go through it wiht just 3. we’re not going back in there until it’s fixed. real shame though because it was so much fun.
The OP is right, NovaBlue. Turn on the cooldown timer and you will see that mist form still recharges for 75 seconds when you have cantrip mastery on. The tooltip changes but the actual CD time does not. I tested it over and over again last night.
I’m pretty sure I’m still getting a BF from Phoenix but I’ll have a look when I log back in.
Can some others also test the mist form cooldown? I’ve tested it multiple times now with the same result. Thanks!
Since today’s patch, dragon’s tooth is no longer providing a blast finisher – not at the source or the target.
I’ve also been testing mist form and it’s still not affected by cantrip mastery. Cooldown is still 75 seconds.
Yeah I’ve been testing it and it’s no longer giving any blast finisher. lame!
I’m no longer getting any might stack from dragon’s tooth. tested it within my combo field a few times…
Hmm… i just tested mist form and while the tooltip says 60 secs i turned on the CD timer and it still shows 75 seconds with cantrip mastery applied…
Thanks for clarifying, Sarah. I was afraid the event wouldn’t repeat. Woohoo!
Either way it’s fun to do a sweet flip when jumping off ledges.
I got exotics for the stats. I think my skin was rare.
Go Scepter/Dagger. If you have gear worth socketing, socket for Might duration. (2x Hoelbrak, 2x Strength, 2x Fire). Get a Sigil of Battle on one of your weapons.
Generally, a rotation will go something like so: Target a group of mobs -> Ride the Lightning -> Updraft -> Switch to Fire -> Ring of Fire -> Phoenix -> Dragon’s Tooth -> Fire Grab -> Arcane Wave -> Switch to Earth -> Earthquake -> Churning Earth.
At this point a couple things will have happened:
- All the mobs you’re fighting will be at about 20% health.
- You will have ~16 stacks of Might with a ~30 second duration, because Ring of Fire is a combo field, and Phoenix, DT, Arcane Wave, Earthquake, and Churning Earth are all blast finishers that give you stacks of Might.
Now you’ll kite around for a few seconds while you wait for your cooldowns. Switch to water and use 3 and 5 to heal up a bit, and 4 to chill mobs that are attacking you, then switch back to Air and start again.
If you’re finding you’re taking a lot of damage during your rotation because your gear isn’t great, you can use Arcane Shield or Armor of Earth to protect yourself while you do it.
Basically, the build does massive AoE damage, has a ton of control, and has 22-25 stacks of Might up at all times during combat. It’s great for dungeons too, because you share your Might stacks with allies.
Basically this! I run a S/D 20/0/20/20/10 carrion (power, vit, cond dmg) elementalist and i can practically face tank multiple mobs in Orr (or anywhere else) with no problem. I typically use the same move set as quoted above for the might stack and sweet aoe damage, but I use chrysocola orbs (for more carrion stats) rather than any sigils or runes in my gear. in dungeons, i’ll switch to staff and can usually outlast most teammates. Dungeons obviously require more kiting :P
I love my ele even within all our limitations. It’s very satisfying. I don’t feel like I’m doing more work for the same reward. I’m always having fun!
I was so excited that the event kicks off with a battle to save Lion’s Arch… how epic is that?! But then I found out it starts at 2 pm my time. D’oh… I’m crossing my fingers that the mission can be played again once I get home that night.
A little disappointed to learn that I’ll miss the kick off Friday because I have a day job. Hopefully I can complete the content when I get home that evening??
Starter areas are good for getting kill variety (and the rest of the daily) pretty fast.
I agree with Minion of Vey. I know it’s all chance etc. but I used to get more dyes before the accidental buff and subsequent nerf.
