I’m satisfied for the most part. My main is an Ele (PvE and dungeons). Once I got the hang of it and configured the right build for me, it’s been gravy. my only major complaint is that i don’t find our elites useful at all. i usually keep glyph of elementals in the slot but i forget about it 75% of the time. I wish we could sub it with a utility skill instead. that would be great!

Apparently rule #1 of aggro is to target me. in my experience it’s who hits first and who does the highest dps… and those in light armor

It sounds like you haven’t been crafting, so if not, don’t bother doing that at this point (too expensive to get up to lvl 80 gear)… i’d just buy some from the TP.

I don’t like most of the light or medium armors (don’t have a need to look at heavy just yet)… with light armors, lots of them look decent from the front but boring from the back, which i think should have more attention paid to it because that’s the side we see all the time. my ele is currently wearing the masquerade armor which looks pretty darn good from the front but i hate the full skirt and no back from behind. it just looks so uneven and trying to mix and match hasn’t worked well for me so far.

I’ve completed AC and CM in explorable mode with people from various levels and it was just fine either way. As long as people know how to play their profession properly, follow called targets and know when to dodge, it’s all good.

I switched over to Yak’s Bend last night so I might hang out on that server for a bit. Anyone can reach me through guild chat or whisper me if you need any help if you’re not in the Legion (yet :P). Characters: Silen Tium and Som Nium, my new thief! <3

Yeah, student armor isn’t so amazing. I ended up wearing/transmuting the Dry Bones armor you can get from karma vendors until I could craft Acolyte’s armor with cotton.

My elementalist with carrion gear (cond dmg, power, vit) does pretty well and packs a punch with conditions but i don’t know if it’s the best prof for it I haven’t tried a necro just yet.

i’m pretty sure you can’t salvage karma-purchased soulbound gear… i just save them and throw ’em into the mystic forge once in a while.

i have two female characters, a human (light) and sylvari (medium).

i honestly do not like any of the light armors except for the whispers armor, but i didn’t know that until i picked the priory (ughhhhhhhhh). i also really want the light “mesmer-esque” armor that was featured during the build up to release but is now nowhere in the game. some of the light armors look good from the front, but then the “butt capes” kind of ruin it for the back. The only half-decent short skirt shows your butt while you run, which isn’t really appealing to this heterosexual lady.

lucky for me, i have picked out a medium cultural armor for my sylvari that i love but the other cross-race stuff does seem pretty weak.

I just started a female sylvari character this past weekend and yeah, it is bothersome… especially when it happens over and over again in quick succession like if i get hammered with dmg by a golem for example.

TheRamos, i have played a human female to level 80 and beyond, and i can’t say i’ve ever heard her yelp like my new sylvari does.

i gotta say, i am in love with the T1 female medium armor. i can’t wait to buy it! Lucky for me i don’t like the T2 or 3 armors because that would be painfully expensive

Flowers and other ground cover also move. I love all the little touches like this.

Ground cover also moves around when you shoot an arrow over or through it (making it look like there’s a real breeze created by the passing arrow). It is a really nice effect.

I noticed a bush moving after shooting an arrow over it yesterday on my new thief… i’m used to moving ground cover from other games but that was a great touch I haven’t seen before!

one of the best ways is to be a supplier rather than a crafter. I learned the hard way, by crafting on my first character. I only started saving money at level 80.

I also do what Fildydarie’s wife does – sell junk at vendor then check the TP for the going rate of other items and the sigils applied to them (if i have a BLTC salvage kit on hand) before deciding to vendor them. It’s really nice that they’ve started showing the “projected profit” because that makes me not have to do math.

I also bound auto attack to space right on the first day since i’m so used to that from GW1.

It’s probably a good idea to get your last training manual first but that’s just my opinion…

If you leveled your crafting, you can craft exotics but you’ll need to buy recipes from your master crafter. otherwise you can buy gear (including exotics) on the TP – this usually ends up the cheaper route.

there are cultural and dungeon armors out there but you’re getting those mostly for the skin (for transmuting) unless they have the stats you want. You can find cultural armor vendors in each capital city and dungeon vendors in LA. To get dungeon gear, you have to run dungeons in explorable mode for tokens.

i could be wrong but the only gear to require skill points are legendaries through the mystic forge??

Sleepy, you can be part of both guilds but you’ll only be able to see one guild chat at a time, whichever you are “representing” at the moment.

Thanks, arty. D’oh. If that’s all it is, i’m glad. i have my eye on some cultural armor so i would hate to have messed that up by equipping it first.

The first question determines your starting headgear… and i think the rest just tailor your personal story a bit but not by much.

I’m curious about something from the October 1 patch:

“Armor that is currently equipped can no longer be transmuted.”

Does this mean that once I equip a piece of armor even once, it can’t be transmuted? That’s what it sounds like, but I just tried transmuting some low-level gloves that i was wearing, and it worked…

if anyone knows what changes this patch made exactly, please do share… because i can’t see a difference. Thank you!

ugh… i fell in love with this armor skin while waiting for the game to be released. it was all over the place, and it’s not even available in game? and now i get to see it every time i open the TP. what a tease. I don’t like any of the other light armors

I leveled the same way as Brutus all the way to 80 except I also crafted quite a bit. I’m still not done the personal story though. Kind of forgot about it!

To start you’ll need to gather jute scraps and rawhide leather sections – you can get those from loot bags and salvaging low-level light/medium armor you collect while exploring – or you can buy them, but then you might as well just buy your armor. once you get some of those, go back to the tailoring station and ‘refine’ them into bolts of jute and stretched rawhide leather squares. after that, you can start making components for your light armor. check out the wiki for jute recipes: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tailor/Jute_Recipes

PS. you’ll also need to buy spools of jute thread from the master tailor to make some of the components. plus, there are fine crafting materials like venom sacs, bones, totems etc. that you’ll need to collect or buy to make some of the insignias. if you need help feel free to add me and send me a whisper in game (Silen Tium)

i also have to 100% the zone before I can continue my story. it can’t be helped! i leveled about the same way as the OP but i regret crafting all of my gear instead of buying on the TP. that would have been such a money saver…

The AoE mob tagging game that Orr has turned into is horrible.

Event difficulty and event scaling needs a serious look into if this beautiful looking zone is to have it’s gameplay salvaged.

I am so very behind the concept of level 80 zones driven by pure dynamic events and I am desperate for the tweaks to come in asap for the vision of this idea to come into existence.

Right now, I go there to explore but participating in anything is not fun at all.

I hope things improve before I make it farther in the game. I participated in my first – and last – zerg last week in the straits of devastation. I’ve been having a blast so far until that point. It killed the fun completely. Now i’m not looking forward to the level 80 areas at all.

This has happened to me a few times too. I’m all proud of myself for starting an event and it’s over when i get there!

I’d be so incredibly rich if i had just thought to buy my (light) armor on the TP instead of crafting it. i hit 400 in tailor a couple of days ago. i’m almost there with artificing but am dead broke as usual so it will be a while… it’s a very expensive way to level. but i would like to master every crafting profession (completionist over here) so i likely won’t give up just yet.

I’m also all about Carrion. Gives me exactly what i need – power, condition damage and vitality. focusing on vitality seems to work better for me than toughness but i’ve seen others say the opposite?

I would love to preview armor and weapons in the TP. That would be great!

Awesome! I’m still wondering what happened to the light armor they featured photos of in the build up to release. The mesmer-esque set. I want it!

I believe it’s called Acolyte armor, it’s the standard armor you tailor with cotton during levels 150-200. i dyed it with abyss and midnight olive.

It’s my favourite so far!

PS. the mask is the Baroque Mask you get through the hall of monuments.
