Aw this is already my favourite thread.

I remember once a couple of random people from the same guild (not mine) decided to follow me around in LA and harassed me in say chat because they didn’t like my character’s armor? It was a very odd experience. Anyway, someone came over and started giving them heck, then sent me a nice message afterward. I thought that was really sweet.

I don’t really get the issue with the OP but then again I rarely post lfg messages, I just start my own group most of the time. Is it really that annoying to get those kinds of whispers? Why can’t more people take the initiative and invite someone?

Although on the other hand, doing it my way everyone then expects me to always recruit, find replacement members, etc. It can get annoying after a while, maybe I should try lfg :P

Typically on a weeknight I will do a fractal daily first thing, then work on my PvE daily, then do some guild stuff like dungeon runs, world bosses, exploring, whatever people want to do. If I get bored of PvE i’ll hop into WvW for a few minutes, grab some badges. I also work on my monthly achievement but that usually gets done within the first couple of days. Weekends I’ll do whatever I feel like doing, so maybe some CoF speed farming, guild fractal runs, lots of dungeons…

These last few days I’ve been leveling a new character so other than doing my PvE daily I’m running AC most of the night to level her.

Heh. Remembered 1 thing, thats gone unmentioned in this thread. Aggro. Mob usualy attks players with highest dps and highest armor. What can we get from it? The lowbie…who survive better, cause his dps is crap and he have no armor.

So yep, High level, who practicaly carrying a leecher on his back would die more, then leecher, who pretends, that he is doing smth. Well…Thats just another side of the coin. Imho high levels still have no right to be downed more often, than lowbie -_-. But average 80 lvl might be trapped such way.

Your first paragraph makes a good point about aggro that I didn’t think of before I posted my previous comment, but then you ruined it with the second paragraph by calling players under 80 leechers and claiming that we don’t add anything of use to the group. Anyone that meets or is above the recommended level for a dungeon shouldn’t be considered a leecher. And being complimented and thanked for my contributions despite my character being in her 40-50s in a few of my PUGs over the weekend tells me that I sure as hell did something for the group. Don’t generalize, some of us “lowbies” know what we’re doing and know how to maximize what we got.

Boy, this forum is great for weeding out people I would never want to play with.

I have been leveling my new guardian in AC so I’ve done a lot of runs this weekend and didn’t have any problems getting a group. However I noticed a lot of my 80 teammates going down or dying a lot more than me so level ain’t nothing but a number it seems!

Ugh this problem gets in my way probably at least once every 5 minutes of play. It is really annoying and I wish they would give us more information on when a fix is coming.

Don’t give up man, I was there a few weeks ago.. The game sucked, a bunch of jerks, no one helped me, everyone said go learn to play… A bunchof jerks is what iI thought… But then I posted I was looking for a guild on my server and found a awesome guild that was kind and understanding of the new players in the game.. If you want to join us on yaks bendwe love pplaying and running dungeon all the time.

Sorry to interrupt your righteous attack on those evil puggers, but I’ve seen Detha bug after killing everything in the dungeon.

Sorry I don’t mean to offend people that like to skip parts, I skip stuff myself sometimes. But I have been yelled at for trying to clear those parts because in my experience that’s when she doesn’t bug. Anyway, dang! After so many times she’s bugged for me I think I will skip that path for a while.

Well my guild members and I are pretty excited about guild missions but reading about the rush events makes me worried about our small number of people online at a time… we are a small guild with only 23 members right now and we usually don’t have everyone online at once. I’m sure it won’t be a problem finding non-guildies to help with guild events at first but once the honeymoon phase is over with these missions and everyone isn’t flocking to them, are we going to be at a disadvantage? Best case scenario, the amount of “rushes” required will be scaled to the number of people in the guild but I don’t want to get my hopes up.

On a lighter note, cheaper wp costs for the guild sounds pretty sweet, and turning into a guild banner sounds pretty funny!

Well my first piece of advice is to find a more active guild that will run dungeons with you

I would start at the bottom and work my way up – start with AC story mode then move on to explorable mode.

If you can’t find a guild group, then the first thing you need to tell your PUG (pick up group) is that you are new to the dungeon and would appreciate some pointers. Lots of players will help you out and take the time to explain mechanics and what skills would work best here and there. If you get attitude or kicked in response to telling people you are new, well then you don’t want to waste your time playing with those people anyway, right?!

It’s also good to do your own homework before going into a new dungeon. Check out summaries on the wiki and other guides too.

So this must be why I got the plant slayer achievement last night. I was thinking, I must have killed more than 100 of these guys by now!

If I get the option to automatically ignore all dueling requests without seeing a notification and wouldn’t get hounded by players for ignoring dueling requests I would be cool with it.

Yeah, watching everyone instantly go down in a dungeon or fractals over and over again without making any changes to skills or strategy can be extremely frustrating. Even my glassy-ish mesmer can last in most situations because I put effort into learning from my mistakes… i’m not sure what some people are doing. I usually don’t want to be rude, i try to be patient but these days since Jan 28th I’ll go ahead and halt the run until we think of a better strategy.

one of my pet peeves is when people don’t bring any condition removal skills. urgh!

I think the OP is referring to the low drop rate of the mists essences you need to infuse the rings – 5 vials, 3 globs, 1 shard for one ring – that is a lot! I’m at lvl 17 right now and I guess I will be farming lower levels for a while if I want to infuse any rings too :/

I want to get to 15 AR so my next order of business is to make a beta fractal capacitor, you need 1 vial and 1 glob for that which I was lucky enough to find already. You need more components than that (skill points, ectos, lots of fractal relics) but the mist essences are the rarest IMO. I am going for a capacitor rather than quiver/book because I almost have enough fractal relics for the prototype.

These suggestions have come up before and any time i see them i will add my support. Please make this happen!!!

He spawned near Kohler for my group last night and usually does so about 50% of the time from my experience.

I don’t think I could ever sell an unidentified dye. I’m addicted to opening them!

It would be cool if you could have them sent to someone when you bought them. making them accountbound is pretty silly.

Not sure if you included fractals when you said “dungeons” so there is always that… It can be repetitive for some but I enjoy climbing up the difficulty ladder, seeing how far I can get.

Not sure how many characters you have but making a new one or giving an old one a “makeover” helps… I did that recently with my first main (ele) after I got bored with the class – changed up her gear and build completely (weapons, armor skins and stats), now i’m having a lot of fun with her again.

Also work on getting a gold star for your main (100% map completion) if you haven’t done that yet.

If you like grinding for skins, you can work towards crafting a unique weapon skin in the mystic forge – whether that be a legendary or other unique exotic skin.

Both ele and mesmer are a bit more challenging to master but once you do, they are great to play. From what I’ve heard, warrior is easiest.

It’s a shame that people are doing this. On the other hand, the only safe place to go afk in the ‘world’ is in a major city. If you go afk anywhere else, you’re taking a risk on your character dying in your absence.

Basically what lunawisp said. It’s unfortunate but you shouldn’t afk for too long outside of a city.

I am pretty casual with WvW. When I go in I do a bit of everything, but my favourite is fighting on the front lines. I will go solo or find a group, either way is fun for me. I never PvP so I’m really happy with the way they built WvW with some PvE content in there. I was nervous at first but I love it now, it’s challenging and builds a good sense of community on the server.

I play both mesmer and elementalist. My mesmer is sort of glassy however I use Valkyrie armor for extra health. 30/20/0/0/20. I love the dps I get out of my mesmer. She’s my general PvE/WvW character and cof farmer. I typically use my elementalist for harder dungeons and fractals due to her higher survivability, though her dps isn’t as good. As for skill, I think they both require a lot of it.

I have lots of fun with both… Can’t say which is better!

Regardless of all the other issues in the first post, you can’t be OP if it takes 13 minutes to take someone down…

The only place I don’t get xp for kills is on the adds at Claw of Jormag but I think that’s because people used to farm them?

Which of these would you recommend for a character that doesn’t do fractals (I have another character for that) and doesn’t wear any magic find gear (I might use a raspberry peach bar if I remember)? I don’t farm Orr events or do any other open world farming but I do run dungeons regularly so I’m leaning more towards the gilded infusion for increased boss $$ drops. I know, these are selfish infusions but seem pretty tempting vs. an increase of 4 or 5 to another stat. So yeah, let me know what you would pick!

I’ll be getting one of the Berserker amulets for my mesmer… I can’t remember what the infusion options are for offensive/defensive but that increased $$ utility infusion sure is tempting!!

Yak’s Bend is great if you’re looking for a NA server. I’ve been on a few different servers and am very happy I chose to settle down here. Lots of friendly folks around. If anyone ever has a question in map chat, people are nice and offer advice. I rarely do a dynamic event alone no matter where I go, there are always players running around on every map. We have a great world events crowd, too. Some of my best times in game have been spent waiting for dragons to show up! As for WvW, I’m just a casual but every time I go in, I have a blast with my fellow Yakkers. I’d say YB is an all-around great server to be a part of!

Yeah, people should obviously know better than to trade with anyone they don’t know and trust. What concerns me is if nothing happens to serial offenders like this guy, it’s only going to encourage other people to start.

There have been a couple people we’ve had to kick that I would want to warn everyone about but on the other hand a blacklist would ruin a lot of people’s reputations when they wouldn’t deserve it so I’d rather not see this created.

Top tier eq (yes, ascended gear, i’m looking at you).
Apart from that? More consumables – not necessarily boost type ones (so transmog potions, fireworks etc are a possibility). More craft-related items (including resources. That do not have to be t6 mats – more things like sun beads for hylek weapons, i.e. are also cool)

It might be possible to do something based on god-related costumes from GW1. Some of those were really cool.

I agree on karma for ascended gear. Makes sense for the god-inspired armor to be ascended :P

I’m saving up for ascended amulets for 2 characters, then i guess i’ll be hoarding them in hopes they add more gear to the list.

World completion on one character unlocks the “Been there. Done that.” title for all characters so there’s always that, at least. Fractal level would be a nice thing to have accountbound. Also karma.
