You know, I had a beggar bothering me the other day. He kept asking me for gold.

I want ANet to remove gold because it creates a toxic environment.

Also, my dungeon party kicked me because I was not wearing zerkers. ANet should remove dungeons because it creates a toxic environment.

A zerg harassed me because I wasn’t following the commander’s orders in WvW. ANet should remove WvW because it creates a toxic environment.

I will take ‘Dueling is toxic’ seriously when ANet removes these features above.

I would still like to see this. I know there are dueling servers but I don’t think they quite fulfill the need (is it just me?).

Dueling is necessary for players to have a fair 1v1 battle with their friends without the inevitable 1v1 battle turns into a 3v1 battle ending in rage and exasperation. This also helps a player learn to fight specific classes and hone their skills in a fair environment.

PvE dueling is necessary because players shouldn’t have to go through 2 loading screens and a possible queue to duel with a friend real fast in the mists, then take another 2 loading screens to get back to PvE followed by a waypoint to get close to where they were adventuring before when they decided to have a quick duel.

I feel this feature would be really nice and possibly even introduce PvE players to PvP in a more fun and less frustrating way… among friends and not probably angry strangers.

When it comes to fair fight, using PvE gear is already against “Fairness”. Full exotic vs Full ascended gear already make a difference. This is why we have separate gear for PvP and PvE in the first hand.

There is already fairness. It is called decline duel.

I want to use rare gear and fight against players with ascended.

Interesting, by your logic. Wanted a fair duel should decline the duel request. So when you request duel, the other player wants a fair duel should always decline your request.

Yes, I don’t see what is wrong with that.

If the other player doesn’t want to fight me with all my advantages, then he shouldn’t be forced into a duel. If that player sees my advantages as a challenge, why should he be stopped in fighting me?

[Suggestion] Mounts?

Mounts do not work in this game because of waypoints.

Brooms/Dredge tunneling device do not work?

I wouldn’t consider those as mounts. They are purely cosmetic and do not provide any boost like mounts normally do. You could call them animation overrides or something.

So, if ANet put in mounts, then they can’t make it work the same way as those?

PvE Dueling

Go to the pvp section of the forums and add your name to one of the many threads that are there about this topic.

The mods are wrong to put dueling in sPvP.

Dueling is not sPvP which is conquest and capturing objectives. Dueling is not battlegrounds.

It is a 1v1 pvp. If there was a general PvP discussion, discussion about dueling would go there. But, there is none.

I have a number of issues, not least of which is the appallingly clunky and sluggish control system

The problem isn’t the control system. The problem is the default keybinds. The default keybinds are terrible. You absolutely have to change your keybinds if you want to experience GW2 even more fully.

Another issue is frankly having no idea where to go or what to do in the game. I am currently level 8, almost entirely by doing those “heart” quests, much like a “kill xx of that” quest in WoW and just as dull. Is this really how you level?

Hearts are a way to level up, but it is not the only nor that is its primary purpose. Hearts a guide to tell you what level each area is. This way, you don’t accidentally engage a level 30 mob when you are level 10.

The way to level up in Guild wars 2 is to do everything. Gather skillpoints, Gather materials, complete hearts, do dynamic events, complete dailies, explore the unknown.

The beauty of Guild Wars 2 is that there is no carrot on a stick. No one is telling you where you must go. No one decides the direction but you. If you still want something to tell you a direction, press the auto-run key and watch it take you to a whole new place.

Pewpewing noobs or newbs from afar proves nothing. A thief, mesmer, warrior, guardian, engineer or elementalist should be able to close the gap in no time. Anyone who lets the ranger utilizing his range does something wrong.
Against a LB ranger, you have to play aggressive. If you do so, the ranger is forced to switch the weapon or die painfully.

If any of those classes can close the gap and gank the ranger before he could see it coming, then that ranger is terrible. That ranger isn’t abusing the 1500 range and the terrain; he deserves to die.

because i like always to improve my gameplay.

There is Hunter shot, Point blank shot, Barrage, Lightning Reflex, Muddy terrain, Entangle. If you use GS: You have Counterblock and Swoop. If you use Sword/Dagger, You have Hornet sting, Serpent strike, and Stalker strike. You have the wolf’s fear, Krytan drakehound immobilize. You use these skills to escape and then your party members will grab the train’s attention and then you position yourself in a better position. The best spots are where you have a huge line of sight, that is difficult to traverse, and there is a escape path. My favorite spot is in Temple of the silent storm above the stairs. 1500 range can snipe enemies on the Gate objective. There you can see incoming enemies and you can prep for incoming ambushers. In my favorite spot, there are two escape paths. One that crosses through the wooden bar and the second goes to the stillness buff.

This is not a 1v1 build. This is not a bunker build. This is not a dueling build. It is a sniping build. You don’t put snipers in the front line to get shot at. You put them in the backline to support the frontline.

If you still want actual 1v1, You got to abuse the terrain harder than before. That is how I win my 1v1.

This build is not hard to play if you use it correctly, as in use the build on what it is suppose to do aka. sniping . You just need terrain knowledge and the ability to decide who to snipe off aka. zerkers.

Low level transmuting

If they made it so you could set any combination of skins as your costume they could still charge for transmute charges and people leveling low level alts could have decent looking gear. Could even sell more costume slots so people could have multiple looks.

I don’t think it would work. For one, Icons will be a problem.

Second, it will take up a lot of space. ANet will have to create a combination of 6 piece armor for all existing armor.

Once upon a time way back in beta, transmutation stones were available for karma. It’d be nice to see that reinstated, since the transmutation changes are particularly punishing for below-80s.

They need to fix why 4v5 happens in the first place. If someone leaves before the match starts, they need to be replaced. The match shouldn’t be allowed to start. That’s just asinine.

I would like saved sets of looks that you can switch to easily. I would like to change my looks with my mood or what I’m doing with out the barrier of using up charges or having to recreate a look I had. I like Lotro’s system of having sets that you switch between.

I would be ok with having to transmute the first time you make your look but after that I would like to freely switch between the looks.

haven’t played LotRO so i can’t comment on that but i am all for the second suggestion. it would pretty much disperse all my objections about the wardrobe

The current system favors store costumes greatly, since they don’t consume charges. Your suggestion sounds like a good compromise. –

Costume doesn’t allow for many customization sadly.

Depends.
Most players aren’t THAT fickle that they have to change their socks every 15 seconds…for the sake of fashion – but, that being said, there is a percentage of the player base with that kind of disposable income to drop a large amount of money on the game…even for vanity items.

I feel sorry for them.

People are helpless as I shoot them in the face from 1500 range. Even their 1200 range weapon is useless.

Blind vs. Warriors

I just wanted to point out just how poorly designed Black Powder specifically and Blind spam in general is balanced in this game.

Blind essentially negates a hit that would otherwise be a successful attack. It wastes the cooldown and is in all cases a very powerful mitigation mechanic. It is something that could be applies every 10-20 seconds in a balanced environment, but it can’t be something that is spammed non stop.

It’s especially problematic when combined with Thieves because you need a successful attack in order to clear the blind effect. And hitting a stealthed target is a matter of luck. Classes that rely almost exclusively on physical melee damage have virtually NO WAY of ever hitting a semi-competent Thief who uses Black Powder and Shadow Shot in a sensible manner. Nada.

Berserker Stance gives you 8 seconds of condition immunity and thus a break from the constant blind spa. But those 8 seconds are easy enough to kite/stealth for any Thief, and then it’s back to immunity.

I have both a Thief and a Warrior and I’ve been on both ends of this battle a number of times. Frankly I can’t think of many other abilities that are such a hard-counter to an entire class. If I’m smart enough to avoid Berserker Stance I am virtually immune to any Warrior melee build. It’s really quite a joke.

Blind was conceived….and should be, a situational condition. It should not be something that can be spammed and reapplied every few seconds, especially not by a class that gives you no opportunity to cleanse it.

If a thief were to try this with me I would use zerk stance and hit him while being immune..
It is really amazing how much damage a warrior can dish out in 8 seconds.

Even when that stance is up, you can remove blind ( and conditions for that matter) faster than any other class in game right now because of 1 trait.

But for the sake of pistol off hand.
because I already dislike thieves.
Why I wouldnt mind blinding powder being a dark field that pulsed every 3 seconds

Sounds good in paper. But in practice a thief would stealth away and wait for Zerker stance to go down. They have the DPS to outdamage the Healing sig healing. There is no rush for them.

Low level transmuting

Low level characters should be able to transmute for free/karma. This thread purpose is to make leveling low characters be more enjoyable.

  • Transmuting will consume the skin and the stat item instead of using the wardrobe. It works just like the old system.
  • The stats and skin on the item being transmuted cannot be level 80 or above the character’s current level. This means that level 10 characters cannot transmute level 35 t1 Cultural armors skin on their level 10 skins without spending T-Charges.
  • Using the wardrobe uses a T-Charge no matter what.

This means that if a player wants to put a level 80 item skin onto a level 10 stat item. They will have to pay with T-stones first time and then they can transmute for free every time after that until they transmute on a level 80 item.

And it also means that players have to spend 6 initial charge for armor and then get to transmute for free until level 80 and then spend 6 more charges.

Why? Because there are two armors. The trash armor and the heritage armor. Both are ugly. Leveling up is extremely fast to not justify the use of T-charges.

Why should ANet do this? MONEY!

The players will pay the initial 6 charges to look good and can level characters until level 80. After that, they pay 6 more charges. Making it a consistent 12 charges. If people don’t have to spend as much T-Charges on low level characters, they will be more inclined to create characters because the characters can looks good for way cheaper than currently is right now.

Do you think that players will spend 480 T-charges or ~11520 gems or ~$145 to look cool from 1-80? That would be absurd. Sure, it is potential money, but I wouldn’t spend that much money.

In the mid levels, I may be tempted to waste T-charges to get a new look. I may not like the looks that I had at level 1. So I may spend more money on T-Charges because transmuting are not demanding.

If leveling low characters is fun, ANet can expect even more gem sales for alts.

In other words, would ANet like a consistent 6 charge transmute at level 80 only or a consistent 12 charges for the beginning of the game and at level 80?

Lightning Reflex doesn't break stuns?

I noticed that when I get stunned, lightning reflex goes into a ‘disabled’ cooldown. Is this happening to anyone else or just me?

WvW LB + S/WH Sniper?

  • Remove 30 from Skirmishing and put it in Nature magic. This way, you can gain the benefits of fury from Survival of the fittest for big bow dps increase. Plus, you get some good survivability skills. You’re a sniper, not a beastmaster.
  • Owl isn’t really good for wvw, your owl will blow up. Use Krytan Hound/Wolf combo for AoE immobilize/fear. Otherwise, use some other utility pets.
  • Put sigil of fire instead of accuracy. It will bring a consistent small burst/huge sustain dps increase.

Why don’t they just add it to your wallet? That system makes the most sense to me. It’s there when you need it, but not cluttering your inventory when you don’t.

It is awful. You lose damage for chill that barely procs.

If you’re running full berserkers, which a lot of people aren’t (presumably you) you don’t need any more random damage. You can use some CC though. If you’re running full knights or something I can see why you’d need more damge. It’s situational.

I also find it hysterical that people are telling people who are using it live in WvW that it doesn’t work. You can make that argument in PvE, you can’t make that argument in competitive.

Your assumption is wrong. I am running full zerker. Still, the damage is awful. I am trading damage for a snare that barely works.

You should stop making unbased assumption.

Bad idea about the gold, but they DO need to do something and SOON. I got spammed with 10 Gold Whisperers in the span of 20 minutes when I entered Gendarran Fields. All duly blocked, then reported. But I finally had to leave the zone and set my presence to “Invisible”. I just couldn’t play with all that nonsense. When’s the next “crackdown” when they report they’ve suspended thousands of accounts for selling gold? A pox on you, MegaServer.

Instead of setting yourself to invisible, you can make a new chatbox and uncheck /whisper.

Sigil of Ice

It wouldn’t make a difference if you increase the chance to proc unless you change the cooldown.

I am fine with the cooldown.

I increased the chill duration through sigils and runes so that it will last 4 second for every 10 seconds.

whether it is 30, 60, 90 or 100 percent, chill regardless is going to proc before the cooldown is over.

Usually, Chill procs at 20 seconds after the last chill. I had one that didn’t prokittenil 30-40 seconds. I want at least a consistent 2-4 second chill every 10 second.

I tried Ice today. It was alright in small scale battles and to annoy those who try to run away, but I would really suggest to go full damage with Fire + Air. The difference is noticeable. (for full Berserker builds at least).

Also, I said I was using Predator’s Instinct before, but I went back to Steady Focus. Basically for the same reason.

That said, I would say they’re both viable in small battles, but it’s probably not the best choice overall.

How did you get to the “Alright?”

It is awful. You lose damage for chill that barely procs.

It wouldn’t make a difference if you increase the chance to proc unless you change the cooldown.

I am fine with the cooldown.

I increased the chill duration through sigils and runes so that it will last 4 second for every 10 seconds.

Can Sigil of Ice get a +50% chance increase to proc to 80% to proc?

Why? I really want Frost Archers to be a thing. I want to snipe from afar to freeze enemies with my arrows. However, my biggest gripe is that it has a very low proc chance. I think that the low duration will balance it out.

Viability of Sigil of Ice on Longbow

I played with a frost archer build in high hopes that it will be awesome using the 6/0/2/6/0 build.

But my reaction is the opposite when I played the build. It does very low damage, but I expected it anyways. But, the control side of the frost archer build is awful as well. I expected it to be 4 seconds of chill for every 10 second. However, The frost proc chance is low and not worth it. If ANet buffed it to 50%-80% chance then the frost archer build might still work.

Krytan Drakehound, Muddy Terrain, and Barrage is enough and way stronger for snaring than frost arrows.

If you ask me, the most glorious pvp pet is Siamoth. F2 gives you either plasma (all boons!) or stealth. Then from stealth sneak up on people and hit ’em with 9k Mauls. If you swapped to jaguar beforehand and made him stealth too as you approached; double the fun.

I am going to assume that you are serious.

The RNG is just not worth it. You might not get the stealth when you need it most.

If there are 4 players in a party and they have a lfg up, a fifth person can join in. In this case, it will automatically remove the lfg in the lfg finder.

After that, the fifth person can join in the run or grief by leaving the party. The party will then have to put up another lfg and then the fifth person can join in automatically again to remove the lfg.

Other games give you that option.
What you’re doing is similar with going to the developers of Star Craft 2 and saying " I want to play the game like an FPS from the perspective of a Marine – give that to me".

SC2 is not designed to cater to FPS fans.
GW2 is not designed to cater to traditional trinity-MMO fans.

Target selectio with tab already favors the player. No problems there.

The problem is the kittened easy to play specs that pay off. Stuff like MM, or aoe condi spam. Now solve that, thanks.

Target selection does not favor the player.

Step 1: face player with AI allies.

Step 2: hit “Tab”

Congratulations, you are now targeting the player or a Mesmer clone. Stop clicking on things.

Or:

Step 1: Let auto-attack select the player instead of AI allies.

Coongratulation, You are now targeting the player! No more clicking on things.

Easy to master??? Not quite sure that is a valid statement about ele (at least when it comes to pvp). I mean, maybe vs three average players you can 1v3 but one good let alone 2 good players will take you down easy.

I haven’t played Elementalist for a very very very very very long time.

Yet, I can still take down 3 players on my very first fight. In other words, I am a below average player fighting 3 average player.

This won’t make much of a difference in PvE. There is very little in the way of dangerous CC, and if there was, your utilities will always be enough.

There are mobs out there that uses CC on the very first blow. Two or more mobs will make a chain of annoying CC.

Also, it frees up precious utilities.

engineer shields are quite usefull as a blast finisher.

Guardian’s Shield of Judgement is useful for protection.
Warrior’s stun is useful for stun.

But that is just it. Static shield, and shield stance isn’t really good.

Shield of Absorption stun break is there for the sake of consistency.
